Newcastle Now Linked With Senegal Striker

The Mirror is reporting that Newcastle are interested in 24 year-old Metz striker Diafra Sakho, and we were first linked with this striker in France early last month, so this is not completely new news.

Diafra Sakho

Diafra Sakho – 24 year-old Senegal striker

But we hope these links with strikers are accurate,  because we need at least two stop strikers brought in this summer, and probably even more than that, with Luuk de Jong struggling to make an impact.

The 24 year-old has just one year left on his contract at Metz, and therefore could be brought in on the cheap, but we are more interested in getting some class strikers to the club, rather than mediocre players who come at a low fee.

Sakho has not played for Senegal at any level, and therefore there have to be some doubts about whether he’s good enough for Newcastle, but we would still trust Graham Carr’s evaluation of the player.

The lad is 6 ft tall and was born in Guédiawaye in Senegal, and joined Metz in the summer of 2009, and so far this season he has scored 15 goals in 28 appearances for the French club, who are top of the French second division by 5 points from second placed Lens.

For Diafra to come from playing in the French second division to the Premier League seems a huge jump in class, and over his career at Metz he has played 81 times and hit only 23 goals for his French club.

So it seems that only this season he has started to score the goals, but it’s a step down in class to the French second division, so it’s hard to tell how good he would be at Newcastle United.

He would cost no more than £2M, which for Newcastle should be chicken-feed, in that we will be coming into a lot of money  from the Premier League in May, and we still have £20M from the untimely sale of Yohan Cabaye in January.

Not sure this lad would be good enough for Newcastle – what do you think?

Comments welcome.

Benny isn’t on his own though. Gouffran, Remy and Siisoko all press when their back four are on the ball. Benny, De Jong and Cisse don’t anywhere near as well. I think that’s a big reason why we’ve looked a bit shit since Cabaye left.

RE: Strawberry place leasehold land sale.

Having just spoke with Storeys Edward Symmons I can Report the following.

The Bids are in and the offers are over £5million

The Bidding is closed but with a twist to it

They will listen and present to the Club and Ashley any late bid’s by a consortium of supporters or any other individual or group , they would be obliged at this stage to submit it to Mike Ashley.

The Club are now studying the Bids and proposals of all prospective interested parties.

I asked if priority on any bid would be given to any one with sympathetic development proposals that do not encroach on the possibilities of extending the Football ground in the future ..They could not comment at this stage .

There has been plenty of interest and plenty of offers for the prime land.

All the above has been said in a conversation 20 mins ago with the Chap I dealt with, and is dealing with the sale, on behalf of Mike Ashley’s company.

None of the above has appeared in any media ..its fresh news. You read it here first…………..Thank’s Ed.

Wow you have to be quick on here to catch the new articles coming up. Yes Our Toon you have to time your appearances. The more abusive types do tend to come on later after they’ve had a snoot full. I like that word snoot. Personally I don’t like to fill my snoot too often as it leaves me with nasal congestion. But where were we? Footy discussions again correct? Colour me eager to participate.

News just in. In North Korea every now needs to have a haircut just like Kim Jong-un and you all know what that means right? 😉 lol

We are all going to be looking like Mike Ashley soon !

Gouffy has worked himself into the ground for us. He tracks back and he has had some tremendous games this season. We are an unstable club partly because we have an idiot for an owner who hires another idiot as DoF. Then nothing gets done for 2 windows and we sell our best midfielder by far without replacing him. Then we have Pardew’s waffle and head butting to put up with. No wonder we’re all over the place and grumpy on here.

Did he give you any indication how long this studying the bids process would take?

Well exactly Online Guy. That’s what I’m trying to say. And yes jesper mate Mike would look good with a Kim Jong Un haircut! The whole sale of land thing is very upsetting. And very weird as far as timing goes. And very suspicious since it involves Mike SmallBerries.

Jesper…Was just reading about that. Love that one of the few quotes that came with the article was “”Our leader’s haircut is very particular, if you will,” one source tells Radio Free Asia. “It doesn’t always go with everyone since everyone has different face and head shapes.”

Yeah, because that would be the biggest issue!

Actually sorry to chuck a spanner in, but I thought Colo had a bit of a torrid time, his last throwaway pass was one of a half dozen I counted last night.

As for buying the land next to SJP I Could chip in, I think I have £3.74 and some euros somewhere plus I could check the sofa, hasn’t been done in a while, in fact not since the fossilised crumpet we found from Xmas 2005.
