Mathieu Debuchy – PSG Is Huge – A Dream

2:49 pm, Sunday, March 30th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 183 Comments

It could well be that Newcastle’s top  right full-back Mathieu Debuchy will be the next Newcastle star to decide that the Tyneside club doesn’t match his ambitions, and hope that a top (ambitious) club comes in for him over the summer months, and it would appear he would just love to join his best friend Yohan Cabaye at PSG.

Mathieu Debuchy - PSG is huge

Mathieu signed a five and a half year deal just over a year ago, so in the summer he would still have four years left on his contract, and Mike Ashley would only let him leave if the Newcastle owner got big money for him.

This is what Mathieu has said in Telefoot today, when asked about the possibility of signing for a club like PSG:

“I’m under contract at Newcastle. I will focus on the end of the season and the World Cup and then after that we do not know.” “PSG is huge. It is a dream for many players.”

This is similar to what he’s said before, and of course the reason he talks about this stuff, is that he’s asked by the French reporters, who basically would love him to say something like – “Yes I really want to join PSG”  - and they are simply causing mischief.

But we don’t have too many good players left at Newcastle,  once Loic Remy moves on in the summer and Mathieu is one of those who hopefully will still be here.

So we really hope for two things – one is that no club comes in for him this summer or else an offer does come in and it’s turned down flat.

And the second is that Newcastle make some signs to our top players like Debuchy, that we really do want to build a top side for next season  – and he can be part of that side.

With a distinct lack of ambition at Newcastle these days it shouldn’t be too surprising that our best players want to move on – and get Champions League football somewhere else.

Mathieu has been a tremendous buy for Newcastle at around £5.5M from Lille, and he’s played 42 times with one goal (against Sunderland), and has been one of Newcastle’s best players this season.

Comments welcome.

Good for him. At this point Newcastle is a graveyard for footballers.

  • 2 yo-yo // Mar 30, 2014 at 2:55 PM

    Agree TADS

We’ve got a lot of squad players as 1st 11.

    Agree Rotonda

We all want to see good football

But the managerial staff – not just Pardew -are a symptom as much as a cause. A new manager would probably create a bounce effect for 10-12 games but unless he is a major upgrade he will not achieve much, if any, more than Pardew has as the players are mediocre. If AP got us to 5-6th this season, which imo he ought before Cabs was sold and Remy sidelined then that is about the ceiling for us. Unless we spend on players over £5m regularly instead of the constant bargain basement hunt for cheap end of contract deals etc., then we will go nowhere very far from where we are now. The rot starts at the top.

Any one knows what Alan Pardew knows/thinks what Fans think of him and his staff.

  • 4 Graeme // Mar 30, 2014 at 2:59 PM

All well and good Ed, but you know, in your heart, that we are a club with no ambition to be anything more than a mid-table, profit making, advertising hoarding for a cheap Sportswear Company.

Why on earth would any player with ambitions to win things, have any desire to either remain with us, or join us, if there are other options on the table?

Yes, we can point to the balance sheet, which looks very pretty indeed, but I think most would like to look at a shiny new Cup, or a place in European Competition to be honest.

This management system, from the top down, is clearly not working and probably never will work in reallity. Its time for change!!!

  • 5 Thump // Mar 30, 2014 at 2:59 PM

@tads: (from last article) He definitely didn’t have the best game, but he was a lot better than our other option. Given the choice between Mbiwa, Dummett and Haidara, I’d pick him every time. The one thing I am concerned about is how easily he goes down. I mentioned ages ago that every time he comes on he seems to get wiped out, but I’m starting to wonder if it’s a psychological thing at this stage, or, he just has a really low pain threshold.

Either way, I stand by him being the best choice until we have both Santon and Debuchy back. Let’s not forget that both Haidara and Dummett are young and could probably do with a year in the Championship before they’re the finished article.

Fulham have had a 17 and a 19 year old up front today.

  • 7 toon kk // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:03 PM

Fulham maybe bottom but they still show ten times the effort and will to win we do.

  • 9 Spennymag // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:08 PM

Thumps comment “could probably do with a year in the Championship”. The whole NUFC team could do with a couple of years in the championship, it might motivate the owner and current manager to up sticks and sod off. I Wish

  • 10 theartfuldodger // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:09 PM

We sold a CL player cause he werent ambitious enough
Another one will leave season end cause no CL
A third acc to the article is all but convinced to leave.

Now we are going to tell new buys that we are aiming for CL football.Hahaha..

I cannot see Dummet making a long term career in the Premier League. He’s too slow.

  • 12 toonarmydownsouth // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:12 PM

Oh aye the lads still young, for me he should of been on loan this season
Just saying that in all honesty haven’t seen much between Santon Dummett or Haidara
They look as weak as each other just in different parts of there game

    Yo yo
We seem to have a squad full of defensive minded utility players that are jacks of all trades masters of none
No one seems specialised in one position, don’t think the players RH listed have got worse but they certainly haven’t got better either
The players we have bought in that had that class imho all improved and all moved on, except Debs, who looks like he’s moving on!

  • 13 Himanshu Dhingra // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:13 PM

If Fulham go down we may loan Mitroglou. That is UCL

Of course Fulham are showing more fight, there fighting for survival, our lads are already making there holiday plans and chatting up there agents

  • 15 Bambams // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:14 PM

Can’t blame players for wanting to leave when they hear the manager say we cannot compete with the Southampton’s of this world.
Pards says these things to try and pour water on fans ambitions but it also sends the wrong signs to current players and possible targets.

  • 16 Himanshu Dhingra // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:14 PM

Looks at the subs in Ful-EVE match. we Change Fullbacks.

  • 17 toonarmydownsouth // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:16 PM

Agree but can’t blame Pardew for saying those things when he knows the owner won’t allow the club to compete with these teams…..
The whole club is rotten and the sole cause is the fat git who owns us

  • 18 toon kk // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:17 PM

The way the club is run, management and poor training the best we can hope for even with investment is mid table next season but I think we will struggle and relegation is just around the corner for this doomed club.

  • 19 MosesNUFC // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:20 PM

he’s 28 now, and i wouldn’t sell unless the offer is between 15-20mil

  • 20 jimiley // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:21 PM

Any player who comes to our club must be brain dead or De Jong. Relegation fight next season. Glad I stopped going after 50 years rather than give my cash to the fat one and his southern mates. keep the faith. One day he wil go. But not before killing the club and selling the land behind the Gallowgate end so that the ground can never be extended. Yeah, he cares that much about the development of this great club which is now dead from the neck up.

  • 21 toon kk // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:22 PM

trouble is when we were in the same position as them we still were sh.t and lacked effort.

  • 22 Bambams // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:22 PM

TADS I agree with all you have said however re Pards comment I was always told.. ‘ If you cant say anything positive then dont say anything at all’
I don’t know why he has to keep saying these bold comments other than possibly making excuses as some bloggers have said.
Ashley is the main problem without a doubt, would a stronger manager (Sir Bob, KK, Chosen one, Rodgers, Wenger) put up with the restraints imposed by him ?
Our club is a mess but the books look good, oh how times have changed.
    Cheers for the craic

  • 23 santonthenewmaldini // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:25 PM

Most teams apart from the top 4 use their youth teams to bring through quality Pardew cant be trusted to do that unfortunately

Look at Everton and Southampton they are closest to us in terms of finances and squad but their managers trust the youngsters and have a system that allows them to thrive Pardew never gives youngsters a proper chance or plays a system that suits our senior players never mind the young ones!!

Its no use giving players 5 minutes they need to be given a proper run out in their preferred position our players may not be premier league standard but how we will we ever know if they dont get a game maybe Pardew does not trust them but to be fair his opinion matters hee haw because he does not have a clue how to play football the proper way

Honestly I wonder what we do in training because we play the same way all the time and barring injuries we play the same team as well

  • 24 Himanshu Dhingra // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:26 PM

Man Utd game coming at wrong Time.

Can see a full house, when there should be a Protest.

  • 25 theartfuldodger // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:28 PM

Good point on having utility players. Or turning players into utility players. Plus not using campbell or armstrong even once despite lack of wingers or strikers. Instead we change formation or put a utility guy out of position.

  • 26 toonarmydownsouth // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:29 PM

Agree, he should keep his mouth shut now tbh
Trouble is can’t see anyone other than a Pardew type (average manger dinosaur philosophy) being bought in, like a Curbishly or someone

The fat man needs to go, seasons done, players are on there holidays mentally wouldn’t it be great if all the fans thought the same and stayed clear of SJP until next season?

  • 27 Novocastrian66 // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:29 PM

Pardew did a canny job motivating the players for the match on Saturday by basically stating the whole team is crap and the squad is going to be overhauled in the summer.
He doesn’t understand why the players didn’t perform yesterday. I know why, they do not have any faith in their manager.

  • 28 santonthenewmaldini // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:30 PM

    @artful dodger

Thats another one we actually have wingers and cover in the youth teams should have gave some of them a shot on the wing as opposed to playing Gouffran on the wing

  • 29 Thump // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:31 PM

They look as weak as each other just in different parts of there game

That’s a very good point, actually. For me, Dummett needs to go forward because he can’t defend for the life of him. Put him in midfield and see what he can do from there imo.

  • 30 toonking // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:33 PM

how many times do you need to be reminded
armstrong is away on international duty

cambell is right now on loan and it appears he doesn’t seem to be doing well.

also if pardew is not using youth then what do you call dummett the player so many now don’t want to see play

  • 31 theartfuldodger // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:36 PM

Even if Pardew does know in his heart that he cant get this team to perform is he gonna come out and say it or leave. No. Sir Bobby would have and Keegan did. Pardew has no principles. Ashley can kick him in public and he will say that I deserved that kick. Lets move on. Add “limited ability” to all that.

He doesent give a crap. Which simply means I never expect anything honest from him. He does appear more like a stand up comic in his match comments. Everyone laughs. We are aiming for CL players. Haha..

  • 32 toonarmydownsouth // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:39 PM

Said yesterday if we could take Santons pace and skill, Dummetts crossing ability and tenacity and Haidara’s positional sense and tackling we’d have a canny LB, but the more i think of it we’d have………Jose Enrique!
Would love to see that lad back in the black and white stripes but he saw reet through the fat ones scheme to get his grubby mits on every penny he could squeeze out of the club

  • 33 Black and White with an army lol // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:43 PM

I hope Debuchy leaves the guy is a world class RB probably the best in the PL, he doesn’t deserve to be at a unambitious club he deserves to be where Cabaye is a top club.

Sissoko, MYM, Haidara, Anita, Tiote, Krull, HBA, Santon & Gouffran need to evaluate themselves and think is Newcastle the right move for me for the future? should I move on?

relegation next season I can guarantee it with Pardew at the helm, MA will only bring in freebies.

and the fans that go to games and fill out 50+ thousand seats disgust me and not worthy of supporting our club.

  • 34 Slank // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:43 PM

If Debuchy goes we do have the forgotten man James Tavernier who scored twice for his onloan club. I believe he has scored 6 goals already.

Granted it is a lower league club but Dummitt transformed himself by being on loan. Perhaps Tavernier can do the same. Surely he cannot be worse than MYM who isn’t a right back.

  • 35 toonking // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:44 PM

The reason pardew doesn’t want to leave this job is simple really he likes it very much and unless you are saying we are not actually a big club then why should he leave?
he is not going to get a job at chelsea arsenal city spurs united everton or liverpool and the rest of the teams are not as big as newcastle.

If pardew knew that the owner was going to be like he is then pardew would not be with us instead we would have a worst manager as pardew would have taken the england job.

  • 36 theartfuldodger // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:46 PM

Its too easy to say the youth isnt good enough. Neither is Luuk or Shola. Really they cant be worse. Atleast we shall see effort. Give them a 2-3 match run. They will have concerete motivations.

I shall give you Dummett. Thats one.
How many times has sammy played. Or Good.

And cant loans be cancelled. Armstrong is back now or in a week. Are you counting on Pardew to start him. He has been there all year.

  • 37 toonking // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:50 PM

sammy doesn’t play because he has had an injury.
also another reason he doesn’t play is HBA and marvo are wanted by so many.

  • 38 toonking // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:51 PM

good himself he is on loan too.

  • 39 toonarmydownsouth // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:51 PM

Lower league? Come on it’s league one, He’s 22, he’s had loads of loan spells at league one, and there’s a damn good reason for that

  • 40 theartfuldodger // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:52 PM

and on Pardew.. I simply mean he has no honesty or principles. Or atleast he wont use and show any. So no expectations from him.

  • 41 santonthenewmaldini // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:53 PM

Thing is Dummett has looked a little out of his depth in recent games but again I am not 100% sure thats his fault the way our team is set up we invite far too much pressure on our full backs the midfield does not work and our wide guys always go inside so never really provide much width or track runners on the way back either

Our team gets cut open with movement but when we have the ball we have little movement all Southampton done was play a high line forcing us to go long for Cisse which even if he won the header they had more players around the ball than us to win it back and it happened the whole game we must be the easiest team to play against as we had no idea how to stop them and they realised this and just came for us the whole game was a good thing Rodriguez did not have his shooting boots on

  • 42 theartfuldodger // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:56 PM

I do not mean that we shouldnt buy good players and use youngsters instead.

I mean when someones injured then play a specialized youngster over a utility man whenever possible.

  • 43 Black and White with an army lol // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:58 PM

Haidara should be ahead of Dummet no doubt about it, when Dummet plays he keeps hoofing the ball up long on the left, when he’s under pressure he panics, he suppose to be a quick player but he’s slow tracking back, to me he needs another loan or just sell him

  • 44 toonking // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:59 PM

if a boss was critised by his employee then he would be sacked right away.

you can have it one of 2 ways
A pardew starts acting like ashley and just remains totally silent altogether leaving us with just the stupid paper rumors.

B just accept pardew and his comments even if they are sometimes nonsense because the fact is we know a boss would not want his enployee to critise and if he did then he gets sacked. so pardew knowing this will just have to try and say things in a manner that doesn’t sound as rude to his boss.

or we could get a mind reader if their is such thing.

  • 45 bri h // Mar 30, 2014 at 4:01 PM

We have been hammered 7 times this season .i realise that in the premier league any team can be hammered ,for me though 7 times is way too many and blame does fall on the players but also on pardew who does not learn from his tactical mistakes .By the way when i say hammered I mean by 3 goals or more .

  • 46 santonthenewmaldini // Mar 30, 2014 at 4:09 PM

God I hope Liverpool dont have to beat us to win the league on the last game as we will get destroyed about 5 or 6 goals easily

    @santonthenewmaldini // Mar 30, 2014 at 3:53 PM

My thoughts as well. We rarely have anyone overlapping or running behind the fullbacks out wide to draw away pressure. The game vs Everton, I lost count how many times our full backs got forward and were then isolated by 2 defenders in wide areas. Meanwhile we have maybe 1 or 2 tops in the box for the cross.

Haidara had a degree of success vs Southampton, got past the fullbacks a couple times.

  • 50 89Norcal // Mar 30, 2014 at 4:21 PM

Cabaye started the very same way.

  • 51 toonarmydownsouth // Mar 30, 2014 at 4:22 PM

Everton done the same as well, they ripped us to shreds with there movement
Our lads had no clue where they were positionally, they were literally tripping over each other!

  • 52 toonarmydownsouth // Mar 30, 2014 at 4:24 PM

    Ahhh yes i see!
Cannot blame the lad, one of the highest rated RB’s in Europe, playing at a team who’s only ambition is to simply stay in the league

He’s so much better than that

I’m getting ready for a whole list of players talking about their “dream” clubs in the coming months.

Of course it’s not as effective of a transfer tactic for less talented players, but I could definitely see someone coming in for Debuchy.

  • 56 MosesNUFC // Mar 30, 2014 at 4:30 PM

Laudrup is the man to take us forward IMO. He can get us playing mouth watering football week in week out. Get the best out of the likes of ben arfa. The likes of Coloccini, Taylor, Gosling, Jonas, Obertan, Shola Ameobi, Ferguson, Newton, Amalfitano need to leave. We need more english players like Richards, Lascelles, Lennon, Young, Ince and possibly with Laudrup we could maybe get Pozuelo as a Cabaye replacement. Abel Hernandez would be a decent signing as well.

  • 57 89Norcal // Mar 30, 2014 at 4:36 PM

Unfortunately Mashley’s penny pinching doesn’t stop at the touchline. He’ll never get another manager if he has to payout Pardew’s contract.

Probably one of the more maddening things is seeing these quality managers pass by because of it. Kind of just confirms the fact the MA is only here for profit. Sad really.

  • 58 Online Guy // Mar 30, 2014 at 4:46 PM

Ashley needs to look at himself and his motives for owning a Football Club

And if he is not selfish then he should come to the conclusion that he is custodian of Newcastle United for his own selfish reasons .

He should then sell up .

Ashley is wasting our years away ..

He might own the club , but he does not own our hearts.

A greedy man never know’s,…. what he’s done.

  • 59 toonarmydownsouth // Mar 30, 2014 at 4:49 PM

Watching the way Mignolet drops the ball on a Liverpool head time and time again no matter where on the pitch they are makes you realise just how awful Krul’s kicking is!

Also did i just read Ashley Young? Would be the worst signing in toon history! Awful player cheating b@stard and is on 90k a week, no chance!

  • 62 santonthenewmaldini // Mar 30, 2014 at 4:56 PM

I think Laudrup would do great with our current set up just like Rodgers, Martinez , Pochettino would as well shame as they probably would have jumped at the chance to manage us before they went to the clubs they are at now would not have been on as much wages as Pardew either

Frank De Boer I think will be a great manager as well plays the game the right way and knows how to bring through youngsters can see him at Arsenal but if we had ambition could see him coming to us but sadly wont happen

  • 63 Big Pappa Cissé // Mar 30, 2014 at 4:57 PM

I really want Liverpool to win the title like . Used to hate them under Dalglish and they bought Carroll & Enrique but now they arguably play the most entertaining football in the league and score for fun .

  • 64 Transfer Sage // Mar 30, 2014 at 4:57 PM

I’ve not seen the game or highlights as been away over the weekend but presuming we played awful if we lost 4-0, can’t have been anything else.

I’ve seen a Pardew interview on the news this morning though where he said “that was a newcastle uniter performance”…..well i’ve heard that a good 5/6 times this year now so maybe that is a typical performance.

We are the perfect example of inconsistency and massively overly reliant on one or two players.

  • 65 Big Pappa Cissé // Mar 30, 2014 at 4:58 PM

    @ Santon

De Boer or Girard would be my choices .

  • 66 toon kk // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:00 PM

  • 67 santonthenewmaldini // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:00 PM

    @Big Pappa Cisse

Yeah I now want them to play the league they play like our team under Keegan although probably better and more capable of grinding out results

Wish Ashley would take note and see thats the football that our fans deserve to see

Wonder what Rodgers would do with some of our players ?I think he would be the man to unlock Arfa, Santon and Sissoko’s full potential

  • 68 Blackley and Brownlie // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:02 PM

Pardew seems to think he can make sure these humiliating performances won’t happen again. He seems to think he can say it will stop and the fans will believe he can do it. If he could put an end to it, it wouldn’t keep happening. He takes us for mugs. It’s complete nonsense.

He doesn’t know where to start. All he can do is blame the players and his only answer is to get a new set. He’s always saying he needs new players. Of course, players like tevez, mascherano, ben arfa simply aren’t good enough for him.

  • 69 santonthenewmaldini // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:04 PM

Save yourself the heartache and dont even bother watching anything to do with the game we were that bad

  • 70 toonarmydownsouth // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:06 PM

If you haven’t seen it don’t bother, awful would of been an upgrade, it was honestly the closest you’ll hear a performance get called disgusting
There was no effort or determination from a single bloody player, if we actually had a squad id drop everyone of them for the next game!
Never thought I’d be glad I gave up tickets!

  • 71 toonking // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:06 PM

    you kidding right?

rodgers would rather take a chance to manage newcastle that he would take to manage liverpool?

liverpool are the second biggest team in england after manchester united their is no chance he would turn down that job for a team who has won nothing in 50 years.

so many decent managers had the chance to come and manage newcastle when we had alan shearer as striker yet we have only had 2 that are worth talking about in 25 years.

The truth is we are not as big a club to the footballing world as we are to us geordies and the only reason that sir bobby robson and kevin keegan were manager of the club was because they loved the club and sir bobby robson was a geordie himself.

  • 72 theartfuldodger // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:09 PM

Yeh I wasn’t going to go out of my way to watch it.

I really don’t understand how we can be so awful at times, there are so many basic tactical and individual errors, coupled with lack of effort way too often in our side.

  • 74 Online Guy // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:11 PM

Forget Glen Hoddles religious views..his half time analysis of Liver v spuds should have got him the Newcastle job , If ..Ashley is watching.

Hoddle would be better than the shower we have as management at this time

Hoddle could organise Newcastle United from top to bottom .

    Tactically astute.

As a director of Football he would be first class.

You’re right. He is saying all too often that it’s not a typical newcastle united performance.

He suggested earlier in the season we are in a different league to everton. He was right there.

Imagine if we brought in Martinez at the beginning of this season when we still had Cabaye plus £30 million in funds ? .

I wonder where we would be now ? . Instead we are stuck with the clueless moron Pardew . I remember getting slated on here for wanting Martinez as I was told “he is only good for getting teams into relegation battles” .

Where are all of those people now then ? .

  • 80 santonthenewmaldini // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:19 PM

Oh I never suggested Rodgers would leave for us now but Liverpool waited a good while to go for him and we had just came 5th so there was no way we were getting rid of Pardew but you have to think if only we had been brave!!

Hoddle would be great for us I think as well is he not meant to be friends with Ashley #????

  • 81 toonarmydownsouth // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:19 PM

Had this conversation with RH and said I’d got it wrong on Martinez

Not sure why fans feel bragging rights would change much about the state were in now mind, if we’d if agreed at the time would Ashley suddenly appointed him?

  • 82 Big Pappa Cissé // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:20 PM

    Two masterstrokes from Pardew :

. Claims his teams play on the front foot yet we get turned over my Southampton managing our first shot on target in the 70th minute .

. We need to score desperately yet he has 3 left backs on the pitch by choice and not through injury .

How anyone can defend that I will never know .

  • 83 toonarmydownsouth // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:23 PM

Tbh i don’t think it matters who we appoint, if they would of got the best out say Marveaux, he would of been flogged in the closest window and not replaced

We might play a bit better football (personally don’t think we have the players to play the style Martinez or Rodgers have Liverpool playing as all our midfielders are defensive minded, HBA is injury prone and Marv is a career bench warmer and all seem to have a first touch that looks more like a short pass) but the manager would still have his est players sold time after time

  • 84 Big Pappa Cissé // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:24 PM

    @ king

There is struggling and then there is relegation form .

Even with Remy games were much closer than they should have been and also with Cabaye we only created 1-2 clear cut chances max per game. Then you look at how many Southampton could have had before half time.

  • 85 Big Pappa Cissé // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:26 PM

All I know is players like M’biwa, Marveaux & HBA would thrive under Poccetino in Southampton’s team .

that season we finished 5th their was a big risk of loosing pardew as he had the chance to take the england job but this blog was screaming in hope that he didn’t take the england job so don’t bring up that point as the chance for a manage to come in.

when we finished 5th everyone thought pardew was a great manager and we begging for him to remain.
when we finished 5th everyone thought it was the start of the new era.

The thing that changed all that was the fat bast.

europa league caused fulham to struggle
europa league caused swansea to struggle
europa league caused stoke to struggle
why because all these teams were not able to invest.

Ashley proved when he panic buys that he does have the money to spend. the idiot simply can’t be ars to spend at the times he should spend which is summer.

thaat year he only brought in anita.

this season only a loan was brought in
then in january we sell cabaye and only bring a loan in AGAIN.

What i hope happens in the summer is everton don’t spend any money on players.
If they then manage to stay in the top10 for that season i will take my words back but if i see everton looking like the team who can only manage mid table then i will want answers.

  • 87 Tsunki // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:34 PM

    The seasons over,
It’s time to collect our pay,
    The seasons over,
Mike says Alan is here to stay….

Desperately badly drilled side with no fight or identity treading water until the end of season when they will be all jumping ship if possible.

They can’t be bothered and you know what, neither can I. The whole setup ensures mediocrity.

  • 88 toonking // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:34 PM

if football was made out to be as you make it sound i might as well just watch a sport called F1 or watch a league called SPL.

this league is special because results are much less predictible.

chelsea can beat arsenal 6-0 yet they loose to villa and palace 1-0

  • 89 Big Pappa Cissé // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:36 PM

    @ king

People don’t just hate Pardew because his footballing style is utter dross or that my dog has more tactical knowledge, its the fact that :

    A) He constantly tries to put the blame on anyone but himself and he is delusional to say the least in regards to his ability as a coach

    B) Ashley has Pardews balls on his mantel piece and Alan knows we know which makes it even worse . Pardew gladly spins Ashleys propaganda in regards to transfers or finances and I will never forgive him for that EVER .

  • 90 Tsunki // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:39 PM

Toonking, I think that might be an unrealistic assessment of the blog tone when we reached 5th. I think the general idea was that Pardew and the players ‘overachieved’ which was a popular term at the time. We did all wonder if Ashley had taken a turn towards building on the clubs success, but it has proved false.

  • 91 Big Pappa Cissé // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:41 PM

    @ king

We have had 18 defeats by 3 or more goals under Pardew yet you rationalize this by saying :

“this league is special because results are much less predictable.”

    I give up I really do .

  • 92 Online Guy // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:43 PM

Ashley has no ambition for Newcastle United as a Football Club ..none at all ..can you see that ? ..none.

For that reason I will not be going to one more match ..I want to ,..but he is here under false pretence , and I wont have the P*ss taking out of me . That’s it.

I wont even pick my matches next season If he’s still owner..I would rather Jam my C**k in the car door.

  • 93 toonking // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:47 PM

their are 2 big name managers who do that
arsene wenger and sir alex ferguson are both the worst managers in the game for blaming anything but them selves. When ever their teams lost a match people knew their excuse would be blaming the referee.

if a manager were to give abuse about his boss then he will loose the job the very next day.
the reason JFK got sacked was because he didn’t do as ashley said with the sale of cabaye.

laudrup lost his job at swansea because of some arguement with the owner.

terry is not an england player because he insulted a team mate

tevez was not kept for long when he refused to come on as sub.

what pardew is trying to do when he blames the players is he is telling the press that ashley needs to invest money in the summer because if he doesn’t we are facing big trouble next season.

their is always the other choice where pardew the players and the owner all keep their month shut and leave the fans to play the guessing game.

  • 94 santonthenewmaldini // Mar 30, 2014 at 5:47 PM

Yeah I would not say that we fully deserved 5th that season we were very very lucky in a lot of games we should have got beat but we managed to win

In fact our play has hardly progressed at all we pass it a bit more but its mostly at the back we are still pretty clueless going forward

Its difficult to see where we go from here as club under Pardew I honestly think the best thing for the club would be for us to get spanked off Man Utd and for the fans to riot and protest with Ashley at the game might make him make a decision because its not good enough

Last time I really think us getting spanked at home would be better for the club was under Souness to get him out the door

If he is still here next season He’s looking to buy British so we can expect the likes of …

    A Lallana
    J. Rodrigues
    Andros Townsend
    Lukaku. Nb:

Or any other top British player

Loan’s transfers , and all this after a mass exodus at the end of the season .Look at who’s leaving, then check out what we are left with

city spurs and everton were not a devoloped team, back then the only teams with strength were liverpool united chelsea and arsenal

we had one of the best strikers at that period and a few good ones on the bench

we had 2 wingers who were proper wingers at the time

we had an academy that was destroyed by them owners and that has only just started to make a recovery. the problem is when your a team who doesn’t spend money in a football era when money has to be spent then academies need to be ultra strong for a decade atleast.

this team is a good one on paper but it’s rubbish in real world. The team has got lots of tevez and owen type players.

the team that sir bobby robson had was filled with shearer solano given harper speed.

the team that hughton had contained nolan barton and carroll colo jonas and harper

the team pardew has contains williamson colo and tiote.
most of the others have no passion at all they are more like the owens and tevez basically they don’t care one bit about the club they just want to play in the biggest league or use us as a stepping stone for the CL.

We have some good players . The problem now shows as a management problem, Pardew is Inept ..He’s got lucky on occasion, but you cannot survive long term on that luck, when it runs out the result is what’s happening now, ..relegation form ..we are almost as bad as Fulham and Cardiff.

Iv stuck up for Pardew in past ,,but he’s proved he’s got no class,,Calling a decent bloke, Pellegrini,
a F**in old cu*t just show’s what he is ..A cockney wide boy with a bad attitude and a massive ego ‘

I was concerned when he first arrived here ,, Concerned he might start messing around with players wives .Hes’ a ladies man, and cant be trusted wherever there is a bit of skirt .

To me De Jong looks like he has already given up and is just going through the motions! He’s not even our player! Many of the players look fed up. Benny worked at it but there is no organization in front of him to make anything happen. Without Remy, who also isn’t even our player we are lost going forward. Pardew knows this and is pooping his pants wondering if Mike will give him anything to spend in the summer. Meanwhile Mike plays with his phone while the team disintegrates in front of him.

“How do Cisse, Ben Arfa, Marveaux, MYM, De Jong, Anita, santon, Haidara, etc collectively turn to sh–e or can’t get starts without some rank coaching”

Not defending the coaches but out of all those players listed only Cisse and MYM were first team regulars

HBA has always been in and out if what ever team he’s played for under the promise of potentially being a decent player but never reaching that potential

Marv has been a bench warmer all his career

De Jong hasn’t played regular football for nearly a year

Anita got a run at Ajax, out of position, through injury, and would hardly say he’s been sh1t for us

Santon has had plenty if loan spells, inter wouldn’t of sold him for so little if they thought he was going to step up

Haidara was nout more than a prospect, he still is

I’m sorry but some fans grossly over rate the players at this club hyping them to the extreme, there not that good, put them under an average manager there not going to get better

while I understand the clubs stance on Nolan and the length of contract and wages he wanted as for barton I was always happy to get shot of him
it looks like the good points we had went when we lost those 2 did it ever come from the manager and staff because our last 14 games we have 10 points last year the same period yielded 15 points

Nolan and barton weren’t here the season we finished 5th.

that season we had the perfect storm of poor old raylor getting injured forcing pardew into finally having to play ben Arfa with ba and Cisse in a very attractive 433.

Those 3 produced moments of individual brilliance, plus we got a lot of reffing decisions go our way that season, while Chelsea, Liverpool etc were having an off season.

I was more than happy with cabaye and benny as Barton and Nolan replacements before pardew started drinking his own bath water.

  • 145 Online Guy // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:06 PM

A good gauge of just how bad it is at Newcastle on any given day, is to use Geordie Two as our barometer..

Nowt get’s him down ..with his fantastic humour n ‘all’, but things are, bad,… going on how upset he was yesterday. When G2 gets upset things are really bad ! His skin was pierced yesterday ! Your my Barometer G2 .

  • 146 toon kk // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:07 PM

Most seem to think there will be a mass exit, I don’t think so, yes a few will leave, new contracts will be offered to some and others are great backup naff which are great for Mash to save money replacing.
I can’t see much improvement there won’t be enough funds available and we’ll still be stuck with Pardew.

  • 147 GeordieTwo // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:08 PM

Right, I’m really miffed now. I might have to have a beverage. You see what you’ve done to me Ashley/Pardew? Are you happy then? You’re trying to destroy our love for the club but it won’t work.

  • 148 GeordieTwo // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:09 PM

Correct Thump and Online Guy! Spot on mates! We must fight back. We have to save our club from this evil twat! Harrumph!

  • 149 Rotonda heights // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:10 PM

By god they’re pushing us to the very edge though.

  • 150 beermonkey // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:11 PM

u aint wrong I thought they were here shame I cant delete that
in my defence it was some time ago and I have drunk a lot in that time

  • 151 GeordieTwo // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:12 PM

Rotonda mate you make some very good points as well. Keep it up lads. Excellent bloggery. I think I feel a rant coming on! Let me just get my beverage.

  • 152 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:17 PM

GT…I am just glad I am not watching this crap…but it still hurts you know :(

…who’s the honey badger by the way? Never though about getting yourself a platypus?

  • 153 Ben3arfa // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:18 PM

Pardew Statue to be erected outside ground next season.

  • 155 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:19 PM

    *How’s the honey badger?

  • 156 GeordieTwo // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:21 PM

No jesper mate. Hiding a platypus in Mike’s thong drawer just wouldn’t have the same impact. Just lying there with those sad eyes. A honey badger on the other hand can do some real damage. He’s not well now after making a meal of the SmallBerries but he’ll pull through. Harrumph.

  • 157 GeordieTwo // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:25 PM

“Southampton have a different type of catchment area. There is a big working class community, but there are a lot of middle-class kids who have good education.”
“The players who come out of Southampton are quite intelligent and there might be something in that.” “We have to put more intelligence into our players here.”
More quotes from Alan. Northeast lads are thick then Alan? Is that what you’re trying to say? Why don’t you shut your cakehole tosser? Harrumph.

  • 158 GeordieTwo // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:30 PM

Aaarrghhhh! Ashley and Pardew are driving me daft. I’m gnashing my teeth with rage! I can barely choke my beverage down. I blame this all on the two of them.

  • 159 beermonkey // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:32 PM

    G2 @157

I come from south and live in the south and I found that comment very wrong
I was surprised more wasn’t made about it
it makes me cringe he could say such a thing

  • 160 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:32 PM

Yeah a new Manager would be a start…a great opportunity to start over :)

…how do you rate Eddie Howe or Lee Clark?

  • 161 GeordieTwo // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:35 PM

I can barely contain my rage. I seem to be turning green now. A green Blog Hobbit?

  • 162 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:36 PM

Did Pardew Set Ben Arfa Up To Fail At St.Mary’s?

The sceptically side of me did wonder just the same! I did say before the match, if Pardew were to start Benny he need to change the way we play or else you are just setting Benny out to fail and up to blame.

  • 163 GeordieTwo // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:36 PM

He’s such and ignorant twat at times beermonkey mate. Unbelievable. He’s starting to sound like Joe.

  • 164 GeordieTwo // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:37 PM

Should read such an ignorant twat.

  • 165 Big Pappa Cissé // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:38 PM

Pardew is a snake and the fact he said that is disgraceful .

So do all the successful African or south American players that have had little to no education or that live in huts not have a chance then Alan ? .

    Scumbag .

  • 166 welshgeordie9 // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:38 PM

I know this is not a football question but has anyone seen the tv series breaking bad and if you have can you tell me what you thought of it.

  • 167 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:42 PM

welsh…sorry cannot tell you, but I am watching “House of Cards”, which is great :)

  • 168 Big Pappa Cissé // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:43 PM

Its all about Game of Thrones for me at the moment ;) .

  • 169 GeordieTwo // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:44 PM

Breaking Bad is very intense welshie mate. Not as good as some of the best European drama but definitely a huge step above most North American telly.

  • 170 Marty-Toon // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:44 PM

Better start praying that Sammy,Good,Tavernier and Armstrong etc come through for next season as this squad (those that actually are our players)is very poor and as we already know the Fat man hasn’t sacked Pardew even though he’s had opportunities to do it on good grounds.
I really can’t see much happening this summer with signings and all,I believe many will be sold and get rid of those that didn’t make it.
Question being, will MA wait til January again to see if the team needs rescuing before spending?

  • 171 toonarmydownsouth // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:44 PM

I agree the manager should have a set philosophy, but then so should the club and it should be bringing players and coaches that match that philosophy not going “okay well Pards owes me a few quid so we’ll get him in, Carvers cheap because he’s a very limited coach but he’s local so that should keep the bumpkins onside, now for players, draw me up a short list of players with clauses, who’s contracts are running down or who haven’t reached the potential they thought, but do it in a league where the tax laws mean they’ll be desperate to move to the prem in pretty low wages, we ‘ll throw it all together and see what happens”

Pardew is in no way blameless, he’s a very limited coach with seemingly no actual identity with regards to a brand of play, trying to forge a style of play with a group of on the whole defensive minded players who are only potentially good, and doing it under no pressure as long as he stats in the league and stays away from the European spots!
That’s not a recipe for any form of success, and tbh i don’t think anyone would work under those circumstances
Look at Martinez, he’s said before he took the job he wanted to make sure the owner was someone he could buy into, who had a real vision, can you imagine him buying it greedy tit’s vision of wanting no more from the club other than using it as a massive billboard whilst sneaking all the assets in to holding companies and subbing out all the commercial revenue to his other companies like he’s done with the club shop?
Pardew is a average manager at best who should never of got the job in the first place, but with this tw@ in charge the next manager will be the same imho :(

  • 172 GeordieTwo // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:45 PM

Well said Big Pappa Cisse @165.

  • 179 GeordieTwo // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:56 PM

Time for a pipe by the fire to think about the club some more. Harrumph.

  • 180 toonking // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:57 PM

well said their mate maybe they will understand it better when you post it because i’m thinking they make me out to be a pardew lover.

Pardew has always been in my view best of the rest, in other words out of all the average managers he seems to be the best but i would have a better manager in for sure i just know that they will not come.

  • 181 GeordieTwo // Mar 30, 2014 at 7:58 PM

Is anybody else a tad concerned about the summer? What a shambles.

  • 182 GeordieTwo // Mar 30, 2014 at 8:01 PM

Did I mention I saw a picture of Dekka and Joe at their new nudist colony Wee Winkies in Mallorca? There was a lad in the background with a beret and tassles. Looked a lot like Ibiza?

  • 183 Bambams // Mar 30, 2014 at 10:29 PM

sorry for late reply…..mothers day and all that
I agree it would be in the best interests to rid Ashley and only by not adding money in his pocket can this be achieved. Although Rangers may help us if they can muster a business deal for him that he can exploit SD
Ashley hates us and boy is he enjoying himself
    cheers for the craic
