More Bad News For Newcastle

9:04 am, Tuesday, April 1st, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 14 Comments

Not very good news today for Newcastle fans, and it’s that Loic Remy is doubtful – maybe extremely doubtful – for the next game on Saturday against Manchester United at home, and if Loic doesn’t play the Magpies will again be very weak in attack, with not much chance of scoring a goal.

loic remy at hull

Loic Remy - unlikely to make it back for Saturday

Loic has a calf injury, which he picked up in early March playing for France in a friendly against Holland, and that’s the same game that Mathieu Debuchy picked up his groin injury – and both have missed the last four Newcastle games.

Newcastle have missed both players a lot, but especially Loic, and we’ve scored only one goal in the four games he’s missed. and that did get us the victory against Crystal Palace. although we lost the other three games.

Alan Pardew has said this in the Shields Gazette today:

“Loic’s touch and go,” “I’m not sure if he will be fit.”

That’s bad news for Newcastle, because form the comment it looks like he will not be fit and Papiss Cisse and Luuk de Jong are in very poor goal-scoring form at the moment.

And in addition to that Newcastle have no spark in the side, and certainly no creativity since Yohan Cabaye was sold in January.

We had hoped that Loic coming back on Saturday would provide the spark and goal-scoring prowess that’s been missing in March, but that seems as though it will not happen.

Another defeat against Manchester United on Saturday would not be good, as Newcastle are literally limping over the finish line this season with some terrible performances.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

Sorry about the spelling on previous post.
Just annoyed with the crap we are being fed as per normal.

With no Remy Pardew should start Ben Arfa up front!!

    Rotonda,
You vehemently defended his boss for long enough, reap what you sow.

What ever formation Pardew goes for we will get hammered, I expect at least 5-0. We have got to hope we finish 11th and Pardew does not get his bonus, why should he be rewarded for failure and the worst team I have seen for years in the last 3 months. One comment for discussion…deduct a point in the league for every £million loss and 1 point added for every £million profit, we now have had a good season and in Champions League next season.

    Based on what evidence?

Ben Arfa has looked AWFUL since August. This season the only times he’s he’s ever even looked a little effective is when he’s brought on fresh at 80 mins or so against a tired team.

And even then mostly he’s done literally nothing positive.

No idea what’s happened to the lad but no chance I’d start him or play him up front. We might as well play with 10 men.

Saying that though if we play De Jong, Ameobi and Cisse as well it’d be like playing with 7!

(And thats without mentioning the rest of the players)

I don’t understand your problem with loan signings. I’d take remy and lukaku on loan next season and be delighted about it. Ki is doing well for the makems. It looks like debuchy is away at the end of the season and so what has been the benefit on the footballing side of having him tied down?

When he has come on as sub even in the recent games he has created a good few opportunities and even set up a goal more than what any other player had done for the full 90 what are you smoking!!!

It’s only bad news if you give a fusk what happens for the redt of the season, players and management don’t seem to.

    Jail

Reaping what you sow is turning up at every home game and supporting the Aashley regime.

A bit hypocritical when forever moaning about him, but still not being prepared to boycott a couple of home games and cut off his revenue streams.

A crowd of only 10,000 would go viral and let’s face it what would you be missing?

Make a stand jail and others would follow.

As for me supporting ash, well that ship has long sailed.

I still believe a proper manager and not the charlatan and chancer who’s been sacked from and found out at every club he’s ever been at could do a lot better in terms of results and style with the players we have.

However, ultimately ash was happy to appoint unqualified people like Pardew and JFK and sanction Wonga etc, so any lingering support, if that was ever the right word, has long been diminished.

It’s funny how we have 2 previously prolific scorers in Cisse and LDJ but as Ed called it little chance of a goal from either these days

I read how Man city at one point were rumoured to be ready to offer 30M for Cisse after his 13 goals in 14 games!!

Nah, sorry not having that like.

I love Benny but even though he set Cisse up with a great pass he has been crap and I mean really crap almost all other tines he’s been on.

The others are playing crap as well but at least the majority (most of the time) try to defend as well.

You’re clutching at straws if u think Benny would do anything with a start.

Maybe u dudnt read my post properly but I actually said if he does get on as an 80 min sub he’s at his most effective but how many times has he come on and instead of finding 1 9f 4 or 5 team mates in the box he scuffs a desperate shot low and wide and they all go mental with him?

Short memory mate ?(a side effect of smoking waccy baccy ironically) ;)

Remy already has eyes for his next pasture – a Champions League club.
We need to get some hungry players in, not journeymen looking for her next big chance. Hats off to Loic for his goals this season, but I fear we will not see much more of him. After all he needs to be in the World Cup shop window.

Would it be cynical to are Loic and Mattieu on gardening leave – to be back just in time to pick up some match fitness for the WC?|

Ed , this is my first comment and my 1st question is why , oh why are you stil going on about the departure of Cabaye? Also , it doesn’t surprise me that both Remy and Debuchy are “injured”. They want to rest as much as they can before the World Cup and let’s be honest if they keep playing for us with the current run of “form” , they actually risk being dropped. These are very dark times for us indeed. I find myself wihing for an 11th place finish so Pardew dosn’t get his bonus and I hope there is a clause for him to be fired if we are out of the top 10? Is there???
