Not very good news today for Newcastle fans, and it’s that Loic Remy is doubtful – maybe extremely doubtful – for the next game on Saturday against Manchester United at home, and if Loic doesn’t play the Magpies will again be very weak in attack, with not much chance of scoring a goal.
Loic Remy - unlikely to make it back for Saturday
Loic has a calf injury, which he picked up in early March playing for France in a friendly against Holland, and that’s the same game that Mathieu Debuchy picked up his groin injury – and both have missed the last four Newcastle games.
Newcastle have missed both players a lot, but especially Loic, and we’ve scored only one goal in the four games he’s missed. and that did get us the victory against Crystal Palace. although we lost the other three games.
Alan Pardew has said this in the Shields Gazette today:
“Loic’s touch and go,” “I’m not sure if he will be fit.”
That’s bad news for Newcastle, because form the comment it looks like he will not be fit and Papiss Cisse and Luuk de Jong are in very poor goal-scoring form at the moment.
And in addition to that Newcastle have no spark in the side, and certainly no creativity since Yohan Cabaye was sold in January.
We had hoped that Loic coming back on Saturday would provide the spark and goal-scoring prowess that’s been missing in March, but that seems as though it will not happen.
Another defeat against Manchester United on Saturday would not be good, as Newcastle are literally limping over the finish line this season with some terrible performances.
