Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has had some very poor games for Newcastle over the last fourteen months, and he plays a couple of games very solidly and then looks all at sea in his next game, and one of those dreadful performances was on Saturday in the first half, when he not only looked half asleep but played on Rickie Lambert for Southampton’s first gal, when it looked like a miracle was going to happen, and Newcastle could have gone in 0-0 at the break after being completely pummeled in that first half at St. Mary’s.
Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa – terrible game on Saturday
It’s being reported that Alan Pardew now has some serious doubts about whether Mapou can make the grade at Newcastle as a Premier League player, and it could even be that he is sold in the summer.
Mapou has been taken off twice this season at half time – at Everton and then last Saturday at Southampton, and in both games our defense had been ripped apart, with Mapou putting in a very poor performance.
Mapou has never been a good header of the ball, and along with his poor positional play and the dangerous habit of putting in some wild tackles in and around the penalty box, he can be a liability and could even be on his way this summer.
The difficulty Newcastle have is how they get their money back on the player, as Newcastle paid a decent £6.5M for him fourteen months ago when he arrived from Montpellier.
There’s been some interest from France in the player, with Lille and his former club Montpellier showing some interest, but neither club have much money available.
And with Ben Arfa’s future looking very doubtful there could even be a mass exodus from Newcastle in the summer.
Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa could be one of those players, and then 70 year-old Montpellier Chairman Lou Nicollin could be right that he may want to return to his former club.
Nicollin had said that Newcastle was a terrible choice for his captain, when he was signed in January of last year.

Comment #41Should snap up all the out of form man united players they’ll be going for pittance. but seriously welbeck 15 million and hernandez 15million surely one is worth a punt.winger domenico berardi for a mere 8.8million, only 19 is a good shout-scored all 4 goals when juve beat milan dont know what the likely chances are, theres also Zakaria Bakkali psv winger reported 10million again zero chance but there are alot of players out there for cheap who could be a good buy, i think we have too many players leaving and too much money coming in to not spend any of it

Comment #42At CB Mbiwa looks decent. Had a great run with Willo a while back… then Pardew immediately benched him when Coloccini came back and has only played him at RB since… and he is not a RB.
He has been Pardewed. And for all those that are calling for him to go just remember how long ago you were all calling for Willo to go. Now you wouldn’t be caught dead without him in the side.
It takes a full season of playing (in the right position) to adjust to the premier league. Even Debuchy who is now hailed as the greatest thing since sliced bread was being slated last season.
Keep Mbiwa. Get rid of Pardew.

Comment #43Dont believe Pardew is looking to get rid, he plays well on the left center back and as soon as Colo is fit he puts him back on the bench. This is a fast center back who is never outrun by fast forwards even when turned, every time I have seen him in his correct position he has played well.
This is another wind up article which will do nothing but unsettle the player, yes he had a bad game at right back, so would Remy!!

Comment #44On reflection it appears that pardew has done everything in his power to keep Colo at the club to the detriment of players like Mbiwa who should be our future. He should now bite the bullet and play Mbiwa drop colo (who wants away anyway) and play our young prospects like Armstrong,Good and young sammy, nothing to lose everything to gain. Be brave pardew but hell no chance.

Comment #45Not really fair to judge him since he’s spent more time out of position at RB than he has playing CB.

Comment #46I’ve been told that Distin wanted to stay at NUFC, but as a CB a postion he felt most comfortable with. He always felt exposed at LB and told SBR that many times. If my memory is correct, Titus seemed to be getting the CB role on a regular basis then.

That’s a ridiculous comment about Ben arfa, everytime he comes on as a sub he creates things and sets the game alight. He’s just not getting the playing time to put in his best.

Comment #48MYM is young and a good athlete but if a good offer came in, I’d not be too sorry to reinvest it. If Crazy Louis is so fond of the lad, maybe he’ll put his money where his mouth is or accept MYM in a cash + player deal for Cabella.

Comment #49The only shock would be if pardew left in the summer. Why would any player want to stay? Pardew is clueless and seems to have made many a decent player into a shadow of their former selves. So many players have got worse it cant be a coincidence. Fat mike doesnt care as long as we stay up and keep the sky money coming in. its soul destroying to me and im at the stage where I wont go to games or even follow whats happening until theres a major change. Money had killed my interest in the title race long ago, now its killing the team i love

Comment #50Would the public still back David Cameron if he woke up today and decided to switch the protfolios of all the top Ministers? So the Health Minister became the Minister of Defence and the MOD became the Minister for Education etc.??? I’m sure he would be sacked by a motion of “no confidence” in a few hours. Why does Pardew play so many players out of position and expect them to play well? Yet here we are going round and round the mulberry bush. Do you know how hard it is to wake up at 2am to watch us get destroyed 3-0 by Sunderland? I dislike both Ashley and Pardew but I think with a better Manager we could have challenged for 6th place. Then again Ashley doesn’t want that.
