Newcastle Need Four New Strikers Brought In This Summer

7:19 pm, Saturday, April 5th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 279 Comments

Alan Pardew was interviewed by Sky Sports after the game today and Alan said the obvious – that scoring goals is difficult for us at the moment, and we’ve scored just one goals since we hammered Hull City 4-1 – and of course Loic Remy has been out injured, and Luuk de Jong and Papiss Cisse just cannot seem to get the job done for Newcastle.

loic remy at west ham

Loic Remy – Newcastle missing this striker big time

This is what Alan Pardew told Sky Sports.

“It was difficult because we were coming off the back of a couple of bad defeats.” “The first goal was important today and their tails went up once they got it.”

“We made a mistake for the second goal and then we were really chasing it and we had a problem.”  “It is a problem for us, scoring goals. We’ve had a couple of big chances today and I think we just need a goal to give us a lift.”

“United were good, you have to say, they settled down and played well.”  “We are getting tagged with having a poor season, but we have had a great season until we lost Loic to his last injury.”

“It would be nice to get him back and I think he is close for Stoke.” “We are lacking a bit of positivity on the pitch, and we need to try and get that in training this week.”

Loic Remy is not certain to be back at Stoke City either next Saturday, and it’s clear we are not the same team with Loic Remy not in the side scoring goals.

That should be a big concern to Newcastle – since we will definitely not have Loic with us next season –  so it seems to us we need to bring in four good strikers in the summer – a whole new strike force.

Shola is leaving, Luuk de Jong is not good enough, and Newcastle would probably take £10M and let Papiss Cisse move on in the summer too.

What do you think?

Comments welcome.

No one wants to play for Pardew his retarded tactics scare them off. Ashley needs to wise up and sack the idiot before he empties the stadium.

Wait for Remy..thats the solution ??

    manx

You’re finally admitting what we all know but it’s a really pathetically sad excuse to keep someone just because you’ re afraid of someone being even worse, if that were possible.

Take Southampton for example. Not that far ahead of us in the league but their whole football philosophy is the polar opposite of the miserable fare Pardew serves up.

Some up and coming manager would love to get the best out of people like MYM, Marv, Benny etc not just write them off like those other (world class) no-hopers Tevez and Mascherano !!!.

  • 5 guvnor // Apr 5, 2014 at 7:28 PM

Rotonda why you bothering with that nutter he’s an idiot who doesn’t go to the match.

  • 6 beermonkey // Apr 5, 2014 at 7:29 PM

well have to be honest I turned it off when mata scored the second
looks like it didn’t get any better

did any1 see Ciaran on his magical misery tour
if only he knew how miserable it would get

  • 7 manxpie // Apr 5, 2014 at 7:30 PM

no rotunda its because they stopped us winning the league playing atractive attacking football under keegan!!!

but it is just like you to hammer me for supporting the team isn’t it!!! :)

so go on whos this manager then rotonda?
who’s this manager that is ashley’s mate that will show this attacking football with no actual attackers??
and then score goals for fun with strikers that are worth about £5.50
you slate me but at least i actually state my argument with facts where as you shout and then state yours as facts that suit your argument and very made up most of the time!!!!!!!!!!

  • 8 santonthenewmaldini // Apr 5, 2014 at 7:30 PM

Curbishley and O Leary would be better than Pardew at this moment in time they would at least make us hard to beat and probably score from set pieces as well

Remember O Leary’s Leeds actually were great to watch and were in Champions League what has Pardew ever done except bore us to death??

Obviously I would prefer a better manager its just so depressing watching us Man Utd were terrible and Pardew is coming out with saying they were too good?? Bolloks !!!

  • 9 wolfshead@toon // Apr 5, 2014 at 7:30 PM

if your defenders are as piss poor as your strikers go 4 5 1 at least it will limit the damage

Eight times under Pardew we’ve been stuffed by four goals or more yet we only got stuffed five times in sixteen years before he took over shocking!

santon ya mean them managers that havent managed in wat 7-8 years??

i seriously have heard it all now!

  • 18 francesco-hba // Apr 5, 2014 at 7:38 PM

here in France, when i talk to friends, they laugh when we talk about how Pardew can still have his job safe…

On french tv, this afternoon, they said Newcasle was the poorest side of PL recently, and they added it must be hard these days to be a nufc fan, and they have the right to be very disappointed

Newcastle is becoming a joke in the world, Ashley and pardew are killing this beautiful club. How can it be like that, why people doesnt do anythg there?!!

here in France, yesterday, in marseille – ajaccio, the marseille supporters decided to booo their team and to expose some slogans in the stadium

Consequently, in the media, when they talk to the manager, they cant forget to talk about that, it seems that in England, the press is scared to ask a question about that of Pardew. I dont have English tv , can anybody tell me what they say about the safety of pard’s job in the football’talks show?

  • 19 guvnor // Apr 5, 2014 at 7:38 PM

In the entire game Williamson never made one successful tackle shocking!

  • 20 liam1985nufc // Apr 5, 2014 at 7:39 PM

I was at the game today, and sorry to say Pards, we lacked the passion and commitment that is needed in the Premier League these days.

As soon as Man U got their first goal, heads dropped and the second half was far too easy. It was an absolute embarassment to witness.

I pay my season ticket on a monthly basis. The way things are going, I’d rather withdraw £50 per month out of the cashpoint and use it to wipe my a**e, I’d get a lot more satisfaction out of it.

If he had an ounce of self-respect, he would resign, but what are the chances of that?

Anyways apologies, first post in a while, and a bit of a rant.

    Manx

but I am not an ashley lover or did you not understand.

However, I am sure even with ash we could get an up and coming young manager eager to try his luck. This quad could be improved of course it could but it’s hardly the worst squad in the division.

Someone like Hoddle or the Burnley guy would do for me and would be realistically attainable. Like pardew, not won anything but they play football and right now I’d settle for that.

  • 23 guvnor // Apr 5, 2014 at 7:41 PM

Although Pardew sometimes talk the talk, when matchday comes all those promising words go out the window, the team does fcuk all again and then the excuses are rolled around again.

    A few tips Pardew;

Stop playing the outdated 4-4-2 YOU TWAT, that’s for starters! It does not suit us at all!

    Stop playing the useless Strolla!!!

    Play players in their positions!

Utilise our squad effectively ie, HBA, Marveaux!! HBA in the hole

Learn some fcuking tactics apart from lump it long and crosses in the box!!!

Get pissed off at our team for producing the shite we’re witnessing instead of praising them!! – The saddest thing is they are playing to his game-plan, boring hit and hope football, that’s why he can’t fault the players because in his disturbed mind he sees the team doing exactly what he wants them to do.

FUFFFF… I better get pissed and cool off I am still fuming about it all!

Have you been smoking the wacky backy again? 10 million for Cisse? Which nutter is going to pay that for a striker who has scored one goal from open play this season. More like a couple of million. Apart from the first four months here, he has been crap.

    Sack Pardew for being useless!

  • 34 The next Mike Williamson // Apr 5, 2014 at 7:48 PM

An interview with Pardew while he was at West Ham

“Tevez was taken off at halftime and replaced by Marlon Harewood and Mascherano made way for Hayden Mullins on 66 minutes.”
“He said yesterday that the introduction of Tevez and Mascherano had taken away some of his side’s famed spirit and determination.”

typical pardew – just hasn’t got to grips with the modern game

    Manx,

Starting to think you are Pardew’s long lost love child!

Pardew is the genius who dumped Routledge for Obertan
and preferred Mullins and Harewood to Tevez and Mascherano

    1) Pardew has nearly relegated 3 different clubs
    2) Pardew has had 2 record losing streaks in the history of 2 different clubs
    3) Pardew has never won anything
    4) Pardew plays negative containing football
    5) Pardew had only one top 6th finish is his whole career
    6) Pardew has been sacked from 3 clubs
    7) Pardew has the record for most goals conceded in a premiership season with NUFC, despite priding himself as a defensive coach.

    ETC ETC ETC!!!!

I’m no expert in radio or media but it wouldn’t be tough to think of a question that isn’t too offensive to the club. Why not ask “what do you have to say to the fans Alan after a third consecutive heavy defeat?”. Or “aside from injuries and missing players, Man United were missing 9(?) today, what is going so wrong?”. Not in any way controversial but they mean he can’t avoid it, and if he does, he makes himself look even more of a tool.

  • 40 yo-yo // Apr 5, 2014 at 7:53 PM

    rotonda

You are living in cloud cuckoo land if you think Pardew is the only or even main problem at the club.

    A new coaching team:
    A new manager:
8-9 EPL standard first team players –
    4-5 EPL squad players

and as for a new owner….

  • 41 manxpie // Apr 5, 2014 at 7:53 PM

rotonda tell me a squad that doesn’t have a winger?
tell me a squad that after 1 injury to there strikeforce and a sale from there ONLY creative cm shows such a lack of depth

tell me a squad that when you just miss 2 or 3 players from there spine it goes to shit?

is that just the coaches or that the players that are there to replace are not good enough?

the facts are we played very well in the 1st half of the season with our first team

and if you ignore the fact that our second choices aren’t good enough that ain’t my problem!

  • 42 guvnor // Apr 5, 2014 at 7:53 PM

We are stuck with Mashers until Rangers get into the Scottish Premier. Then he will drop up like a stone after fleecing us and selling all our assets. His biggest crime is now in progress. He is trying to sell the land behind the Gallowgate End and so prevent any new buyer from extending the ground. An owner who is really trying to develop the club and has its best interests at heart?????

  • 45 Blackley and Brownlie // Apr 5, 2014 at 7:54 PM

    10) if you gave pardew a lie detector, he wouldn’t know what his best team is.

  • 46 ramboreilly // Apr 5, 2014 at 7:55 PM

I think Ashley has ownership of Newcastle United for all the wrong reasons..and he is wasting the supporters years and live’s away, and wasting the Club’s years away, running the Football Club just to further his sales for the Sports direct Brand and company .

We do need rid of him, to the right buyer mind ..Iv learned that he turned down 2 good bids for the club ..

Its a scam that he will sell it ..for the right price ..its worth 12 million a year in advertising to him and his supposed imaginary £129 million debt that he owe’s himself will never come down..

.I’m of the mind that he will hang on to our Club and keep it as a promotional vehicle for sports direct, for ever and a day.

He wont pay the going rate for top players ..ever..and he wont pay the going rate in wages for any top player , he is not interested in the League cup or the FA cup because injuries and tired players would get in the way of mid table mediocrity..and that’s all he needs to keep Sports Direct on the worldwide TV scene

I cannot believe that we have an owner who own’s us to drive another business and does not care anything for the football side of things !

Chrissakes ! , we are a Football club . and we are not run as a football club!

Ashley is a selfish greedy man.

  • 53 jimiley // Apr 5, 2014 at 8:00 PM

Pardew is part of the problem because he is not very good. But there are worse managers out there. The real problem is the owner who is taking the club for every last penny. What decent manager would work under Ashley who would give him no money and undermines his managers? NONE. So why replace Pardew with another similar manager? At least he is keeping us in the league on a shoestring. Or do some of you guys think we should be a top 4 team on a shoestring? Until Ashley goes this club will suffer death by a thousand cuts. The only way to get rid of Ashley sooner is to empty the ground and Geordies are too proud and stupid to do that. So they deserve all they get. NOWT.

There are just soooo many problems at this club that we’re going backwards at light-speed instead of building and progressing forwards! It’s all a blur full of bad memories now.

The days of Cisse being a goal-machine and Ba scoring against Man U and Sissoko scoring 2 v Chelsea and HBA scoring that wonder goal against Blackburn in the cup seems ages ago and it’s like times like that will never come back under this regime, it only seems to be getting worse.

You’re saying the team showed commitment. That’s not what the fans are telling us. The team threw in the towel and man utd strolled through the game. Do you not accept that?

Why do you bring on shola a man who hasn’t scored for months and never looks like scoring?

When you talk about the process, as you did last week, the fans haven’t a clue what you’re talking about. What is that about?

The Prem is much like most of the top leagues. Three or four ultra rich clubs and the rest have no chance and often play poorly. Look at the bottom 8 clubs in the Prem. They are all about the same in quality. There are nine points between 20th place and 13th place after 33 games! Unbelievably poor and it’s because the financial clout just isn’t there to make it competitive. The foreign owners and ridiculous money have ruined the game in Britain.

Everybody moans about the football and we all know that the owner is now taking the piss. So why do 52 thousand morons turn up week after week and sit there in silence watching rubbish. And trundle off in silence at the end of a game? They are just perpetuating the regime. How dumb. Does the owner have to actually urinate in their face before they stop going. Thats the only way to force him out because a half empty stadium is no vehicle to advertise his business. It becomes embarrassing. for Ashley. he could not care less about the loss of money through the turnstile. but he does care about the perception an empty stadium generates about his SD business which has made him a multi billionaire. STAY AWAY.

I also said Mick was a Gentleman and it would be a hard thing to do to Be nasty to Pardew’s face ..I was not saying that I would say this and that, like Blackley did .. I was simply asking Blackley what exactly ..would he say ! and no real answer as yet as the previous answer on the last thread did not answer the question ..I want Blackley to say exactly what he would say if in Mick’s shoe’s. no answer as yet .

So you asking me what I would say ..isn’t part of the debate./.question …….I’m not on the end of that ..it was me who posed the question ..and I did not pose the question to answer it myself . It was Blackley saying he would say this and say that ..I thought it would be a hard thing to do if you were in Mick Lowes shoes.

He is currently breaking all kinds of the worst records in the clubs history.
    Head butted someone .
Is on another run of hammerings.
Has clearly lost the dressing room/crowd.
Hasnt ever done well at any club.

So what would move the fat man?
As it stands we need about 14 players this summer, even if we get them theres little chance of staying in the league.Nobodys brought in that many players and survived.
Look at QPR as the most recent attempt.

Its never worked, its why clubs buy players a few at a time every transfer window.

Relegation for us next season regardless who we buy.

welshgeordie9 – Don’t generalize! I’ve always backed Pardew and blamed Ashley for not backing him, and I am one of the more positive bloggers on here (don’t believe me look at my past posts), yet I have recently seen the light to Pardew’s inability to turn things round.

The treatment to some players on form is shocking at times and sticks to the same pathetic tactics and subs every game. When there is a positive change it usually comes via an injury and rotation is a must but even then he manages to fcuk things up in the end. Hit an hope football is all we’re doing all the time. I bet he told Elliott to whack it as long as he could to get the ball in their box today. That’s his way of think and it was evident in the game. Crosses into the box is all he thinks about without having any other gameplan. He just loves his big men; Cisse, De Jong, Willo and his favourite Strolla Ameobi!! Our passing gets worse by game and so does our goals against record so please OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE THE LIGHT LIKE I DID!

  • 106 Hobs // Apr 5, 2014 at 8:30 PM

The defeat today was expected, so it really doesn’t bother me too much. I’m fed up with Pardew long ago, mostly due to his boring tactics. The team is simply unable to attack.

But there is another thing that made me really angry today.

Why did he put on Shola?

Why did he not give Adam Armstrong a go? When there is nothing more to lose, why not give the young talents some game time?

Cabaye left and there was nothing more to play for, this would be a great opportunity to give our young players game time without putting too much pressure on them. They cold make mistakes in matches that were no important and learn from them.

I see absolutely no reason for Ameobi to come on today!

  • 107 toon22 // Apr 5, 2014 at 8:32 PM

I have also read we are currently the worst side in the entire football league at corners, that 92 clubs.
Another winner record for the tactical genius.

But the real problem is there for everyone to see, long ball to the back post for willow to head back over for 3 years has been sussed.Maybe they should try long ball to the back post for De Jong.

Our only hope is for Mashley to sell, but in a sick way i kinds hope he dont.
So we can sit back and watch it all fall apart leaving the greedy “person” out of pocket.

now people see sense now and want Pardew out of the club, after all these f@cking years of me saying this people are starting to see sense.

one positive thing about today’s match and that’s

    1) Debuchy will face Santon for the RB role and its a long time waiting.
    2) Anita was awesome

but the thing that disgust me the most is that there was a full capacity today and f@cking shame on those who went in fact these f@ckers are like AP & MA they are only here to stab us in the back, don’t even bother calling yourselves fans, at all.

  • 113 croftus5678 // Apr 5, 2014 at 8:36 PM

ok…cisse has lost it ! shola is a pile of XXXX / luuk just isnt a goalscorer / goofy surely is our only real option as a seasoned striker (bugger playing him on the wing he’s knackered there)

williamson just cant hack a full season (even though he was by far our best cb) i just get the feeling his legs are going this far into the season.

imo our changes for rest of season must be !
    goofy up front with armstrong.
sammy on wing (when fit) or maybe orlando or even both.
    tiote as captain.
mbiwa in place of collo (dont care how many mistakes he makes just give him a run of games)

we need a complete shake up for next season inc 2 goalscorers and wingers aswell as cb’s

Armstrong was itching to come on after being bigged up by Pardew at midweek. Yet he favoured his bum-chum Strolla Ameobi again!

I am gonna get so drunk celebrating the day that donkey finally leaves our club!

I can’t wait to see Armstrong play and like you say we have nothing to lose anymore especially when we losing a match 3 or 4 nil, why not stick Armstrong in for much needed Premiership experience.

The reason is because Pardew is clueless!

Its ok from the comfort of your desk behind a computer , but in the real world its a harder ask . I know Mick Lowes and He is passionate about Newcastle United and wont have a bad word said if its an unfair bad word..he will stick his neck out even when Live on air ,, If Mick has built up a rapport with Pardew its a hard thing to then destroy that after a game ..or after the heat and passion of a game, then to go away full of regret for what you just said .

So what you say you would say to Pardew in your imagined capacity as BBC Presenter Mick Lowes is maybe not what you would say to Pardew if you were in Mick’s shoe’s conducting the interview live on air .

  • 150 JP...from The Rock // Apr 5, 2014 at 8:58 PM

welshgeordie9 – The fact that he plays Shola says it all. That bloke was finished years ago. And to say we don’t have more options? Of course we do, he can try Gouffran upfront who in fact was a striker before he came to us you know and is being played out wide because of his Jonas style lung busting tracking back.

He could try HBA upfront and see if he links up well with any of our strikers and he won’t be needed to track back as he will be playing as a forward. With his dribbling skills and a run of games and a vote of confidence by Pardew he could even develop to become a lethal number 10, instead he’s used sparingly and out in the wing and forced to to a Jonas every game, something that is not what he’s about.

Pardew always wants to change our players instead of making the most of their abilities.

Sissoko is another example. He is a box to box player, like a Viera, Nolan, Essien, Nolan etc. He’s not a fcuking winger!

We don’t have yes we are very limited but why not try the youngsters like Sammy or Aarons for example.

Why not try Armstrong upfront to see what he can do without pressure and give him valuable premiership experience. Next season he won’t have that luxury.

Why doesn’t he mix up our set pieces instead of always aiming long balls to Willo to pass or score (who has yet to score a goal for us also).

Why does he not make players practice on their final balls and their shooting? If he already is then it’s clear he’s even worse than first thought as we look worse.

There are so many different options available even with the limited funds and players he has even with Remy injured and Cabaye sold.

I can’t back Pardew any more not after this glaringly obvious evidence.

Yet I know relegation is not the answer to rid ourselves from those in charge as we will never recover from our second relegation and just become the new Leeds. That would be even more painful.

ps, sorry for the very long post ;)

  • 159 Big Pappa Cissé // Apr 5, 2014 at 9:06 PM

    @ manx

Under Pardew we never have a game plan other than lump it up to the big man. We never cut through teams with slick passing moves, pass in triangles, pass & move or seem to generally know what we are doing.

These are basic footballing tactics and if our main striker (Remy,Ba, or Cisse) is injured or not scoring, and Cabaye isn’t playing a blinder then we have had it as Pardew has no plan A the majority of the time let alone a plan B .

At the end of the day Pardew has had a better side to field than any team outside of the top 7 yet has them playing Sunday league football . Rodgers may as well be from Mars for all Pardew is concerned, if it aint a flat 4-4-2 with a big man up top Pardew hasn’t got a clue .

My severe dislike for Pardew and Ashley grows game by game. This performance is nothing new. Pardew is delusional and lies.

Blackley, I’ll listen out for you putting it to the radio station. I’ve gone right off Ando for quite a while. He doesn’t see the system and foundation of management as crucial, just “wedder playurs put a good shift in each gayme”.

It goes well beyond that, as Martinez and Rodgers have shown.

BandB, Mick Lowes really is going lightly in those post match interviews. He should be absolutel hammering the questions to Pardew. As you say, he won’t risk being banned. I understand why, but it does not make it right.

    1) we heard that MA and co are going to improve the squaauuad in the summer ( sorry I couldn’t stop laughing when I tried to type squuauauad ah man sorry again ) but who is going to join us? nearly every team around the world knows about us that’s including managers, chairmen’s, Agents and players, so who would take the risk joining us?

    2) how on earth are we going to pursued our key players to stay? they know what’s going on behind closed doors and no doubt got there own agents to hunt for more ambition clubs?

  • 168 Big Pappa Cissé // Apr 5, 2014 at 9:12 PM

Also Pardew supposedly works on the defense 4 days a week :) .

I have never seen an NUFC side be beaten so comfortably on numerous occasions FFS .

Also in the three years he has been here the only tactic I have seen for an offensive set piece is aim for the big man at the back stick .

THE GUY IS A PREMIER LEAGUE MANAGER FFS .

  • 169 toonking // Apr 5, 2014 at 9:14 PM

    sazzer
actually i would be happy to see more defenders too, really the only players i would be sure to still want in the starting 11 next season are krul debuchy and tiote.

The reason i keep the defense as it is this season is because of how expensive it will be to just bring in the attacking players that we need.

we can see from the sales of carroll ronaldo and bale in comparison to the price of shearer and owen that now attacking and creative players are so dear, as our owner is such a tight arze we can’t afford to spend money on defenders before getting the types of goal scorers and creative midfielders we know will produce that play we want to see.
sorry for my post earlier on, i didn’t mean it in an offensive way, i was just in the sort of mood that i have when ever the blame lie with just the manager. I myself would be happy to see a quality manager but for now i am happy with pardew because he is the best of them who will work under ashley.

Your mate Mick has obviously made the fatal mistake of getting to close to the manager so that they have become friends. He can no longer do his job properly. I’d like to think I would stay professional and keep the right side of the line. Even now, he could say before the start of the interview and going on air, “Look Alan, I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t put the difficult questions to you and almost all of our callers are calling for you to be sacked, the feeling is so strong. So I can’t pull any punches. Do you understand?”

    Online,

I picked up quite early that you liked to talk plausibly about things about which you have no knowledge. Like one of those people who can’t just say: ” I don’t know.” when they don’t know the answer to a question.
Any normal reporter tries to ask honest questions, without fear or favour. They do not think about their mortgage, their kids, their job, or anything like this when they ask questions of politicians or gangsters.
Those who do, and they are on the increase, are those who have entered a mutual back-scratching agreement with their subject.
The Chronicle, Tyne-Tees, and the BBC are very clubbable. No-one wants to rock the boat.
Mick Lowes was employed to get the inside line on events at Newcastle.
I would invite him to come on here and point out his last scoop. Because he HAS been asked: “where was our sniff of that story, Mick?”

  • 177 Ashton // Apr 5, 2014 at 9:19 PM

Before today’s game Pardew said that he was focusing on defending in the training ground!. We looked pathetic and instead of improving the defensive side of our play it got worse, this perfectly sums up our imbecile of a manager.

Pardew is way out of his depth managing this football club. He is simply too stupid and limited as a manager and he has clearly lost the dressing room.

The players just don’t give a shit. And only Pardew is to blame for this.

We have no tactics and make teams like Sunderland, Wigan, West Ham etc look like World Class.

And I too can’t remember getting hammered by teams in such frequency as we are under him than any other manager we’ve had.

It’s so sad what we’ve become. The fact he relies on Remy so much (a striker that is not even ours) to save us again is smacking of desperation and proves that he really is void of any other ideas or tactics.

I feel sorry for Gouff, I bet this is not what he expected when he signed up.

  • 200 lochinvar // Apr 5, 2014 at 9:34 PM

That was shocking. All the passion has gone and that was against Manchester’s second club ! It’s not just Pardew that’s lost the team it’s the coaches as well . Carver hardly inspires and the bench today looked like a bunch of statues, no movement or interest in the game. I don’t recall Carver being on the touch line either but maybe I had gone to sleep with boredom. Are the players doing this deliberately ? Are they voting with their feet and not putting in a shift to force the issue with Pardew. Why was Shola put on when he’s leaving the club. Surely at 0-3 down Armstrong should have been given a chance and some experience. That decision alone speaks volumes about the inability of Pardew and Carver to provide leadership and confidence. It’s gone – time for a large taxi for all concerned !

all manxpie is doing is stating that while ashley is here their is just no hope what so ever of seeing a decent manager come into this club. Managers who are good want to be at clubs where they know players will be signing contracts the clubs they want to avoid are clubs where players are being sold and only signing loans. I thought Pardew came out with the most ridiculous statements I’d ever heard, but I forgot about Hoddle, the man who said disabled people were paying for the sins of previous lives.

“My beliefs have evolved in the last eight or nine years, that the spirit has to come back again, that is nothing new, that has been around for thousands of years. You have to come back to learn and face some of the things you have done, good and bad. There are too many injustices around.”

“You and I have been physically given two hands and two legs and half-decent brains. Some people have not been born like that for a reason. The karma is working from another lifetime. I have nothing to hide about that. It is not only people with disabilities. What you sow, you have to reap.”

“You have to look at things that happened in your life and ask why. It comes around.”

Mikey keeps some great company: Alan “It’s increased the discussion mode on that” Pardew, Joe “Kebabs” Kinnear and Glen “the faith healing” Hoddle.

Ashton – Pardew also has to rid HBA from his shackles and let him run at defenses as a number 10 in the hole and have Tiote and Anita cover him if he loses possession. The thing is on the wing he only gets the ball if we play down that side and even then all he can do is pass it to one of our goal-shy strikers anyway.

If he’s in the hole he could be a real menace to the opposition and create havoc. Sadly knowing the thick Pardew he will sell our only true flair player that gets bums off seats leaving us hanging with regret of not seeing him ever used properly and to our advantage :(

many many years ago there were rumors that many football players who became managers didn’t take there badges instead they paid the FA for them to become managers, and of course the FA can’t really admit to this simply because it’s illegal.

Just a drop in session this evening, not staying long.

I was a part of’Mike Ashley’s Magical Misery Tour’ today – which Ed has once more failed to report on, but no surprises there – and I am pleased to say that is was a resounding success, not only in terms of successfully completing an open-top bus parade in Newcastle while it was absolutely hoying it down, but also because we received fantastic support from those on the streets of Newcastle and in various pubs after the game.

There is a groundswell of opinion from those I have been speaking to who are sick and tired of not only Pardew and his tactics, but also Mike Ashley’s running of the club.

The popular opinion in the city is not one of patience with Mike Ashley.

HBA is our best player yet Pardew has no clue on how to play him. The most important thing for Pardew is for wingers to track back. Because he plays 442 which leaves us exposed in the middle thus our wingers have to kill themselves tracking back all the time.

Look at Gouffran, he looks dead after 60 minutes and has to be replaced before collapsing and getting a heart attack.

This is all due to Pardew’s retarded tactics.

Add to that fee recoup of the outgoings and we might come up in 64 m £ and that’s 8 – 8 m £ players or 2 – 16 m £ + 4 – 8 m £.

And if we plan ahead we might even add coming years TV money to this summer plug the leaks and build competitive team. If we don’t reach CL then we might have to go a summer without a transfers unless someone is sold but that scenario would be a lot different from last summers when we clearly needed players.

If the players we bring in are good enough then they will bring profit in when they are sold in the future.

As for our current players not many can be sold with profit.

yes I always thought it would suit him better and give him more of an attacking threat if he works with debuchy on whipping the ball in like him we wont have to buy a replacement if we sell debuchy we just need a trainee as it were

what makes this worse we have 2 natural left backs hadiara and dummet sat there doing nothing when debuchy has been out like when he was banned we would keep santon at left back and put our left sided defender at right back

  • 236 Newtain // Apr 5, 2014 at 10:01 PM

Anybody else just cringe when Pardew laughed as he said “we really just need a goal to get us started”? How is that funny?

I dunno how people still look back to the season we finished 5th. I got slated months ago for one of my only posts where i said all our goals are individual pieces of good play, nothing more.

Look at the team now. We have NO attacking threat without Remy making his own goals, or Cabaye/Cisse/HBA smacking in screamers.

Pardew has to go. People say we won’t get a better manager, we might not. But even a rubbish manager would chuck in creative players like Marveaux and give them a chance instead of playing a flat midfield 4 comprising of 3 deep lying midfielders and a striker in left mid…

How many other Premier league clubs would put up with this ?

Die hard fans is something that cannot be taken for granted.

    Mr Ashley,
You have proven you are a powerful person who obviously does not take kindly to criticisms. …

Couldn’t believe today that all Newcastle fans sat in silence and those who couldn’t take any more just quietly left early some with 25 minutes still to go.
Has it come to this – have we just got to sit and accept this crap and say nothing? Where was the anger and accusations shouted at Pardew and Ashley? The ones who did stay until the end like I did managed some boos but the club just drowned them out by turning up the volume of the music extra loud. (the club is really taking the p**s now)
Just what does it take before the supporters of this club really make their voices heard? Sitting on your hands silently seething is NOT going to get rid of Ashley.
Tell you what fellas if we don’t get Ashley out soon we won’t have a club to support because which half decent players will want to come here let alone stars.
Ashley may sack Pardew to save his face but who would want to work for a lying, devious unambitious tosser.
Another one of Cashley’s drinking mates?
The future may be Orange but it ain’t black ‘n’ white that’s for sure until this curse is lifted.
If you can’t stay away at least make yourselves heard and more open top buses please – in fact a whole bloody fleet of them.

When our fans got on Big Sam’s back he was sacked, I’m sure the same will happen to Pardew if the fans decided to do something about the shower of shit they are watching.

Some very short sightgo off at Pardew as if he is the main problem and the main ed people on this blog mind..

They culprit of this poor run of performances. As if it is his and only his doing doing.

Whinging on, blaming one person. No balance to the discussion, pure short sightedness. Ridiculous and pathetic.

This is no ordinary Premier League football club, it’s run by Mike Ashley. Pardew isn’t managing any normal Premier League football club. We don’t plan, we settle for Mid-Table, we have zero ambition.

Pardew has done what is asked of him. Ashley holds the keys to how far he wants this club to go not Pardew.

Before I begin, im not Pardews biggest fan, im quite aware he is mediocre. But this is what NUFC aspires to be these days regarding ambition and the running of first team affairs. The club is ran from top to bottom.

For a start, Pardew has had to make do with his best players being took away from him every season, mostly half way through a campaign with no replacements brought in. Replacements who are not normally replaced until a year sometimes even two after the cause. If ever?

Untested, unproven players being brought in without his say, he has never even had a chance to build a squad here. He has had no say in transfers what so ever.

Year after year he is ridiculed and slaughtered by some sections of fans, yet the squad when apart from maybe 5-6 players or so are mid-table players, or shocking players who should be no where near NUFC. Pardew isn’t in charge of recruitment?

Admit it man, the Toon are sh*te! The squad as a whole is shi*te! Once injuries occur the quality is never there. Players do not step up, players have had chances. We do not have the greatest second string, this is a fact.

With the exception of Remy, Debuchy, Tiote and I’ll put Gouffran in there because he has done OK this season we are hopeless. We were OK with Cabaye, we found goals OK to come by with the four of those playing together. Cabaye leaving has had a huge affect on our performances since leaving, but you whinge about Pardew given the chance when we play poorly? Where is the balance here? Have you had a good look at this squad Mike Ashley assembled? The way the club is treated and run?

Sissoko, M’biwa, Coloccini, Santon, Ben Arfa, Williamson. These are completely hit and miss, purely avergage footballers in this league, these are not top six footballers. These are not outstanding Premier League players or anywhere near it, they are no where near consistent. Ben Arfa has talent and ability but a top Premier League player worthy of a top four club across the globe? Give over. He is a million miles away from that.

    Why over hype them?

The squad is a mess. This is not Pardews fault. It’s a lack of ambition, a lack of planning! The squad is a mid-table squad and we are mid-table team right now! What gives?

Until this squad is sorted right out, expect the ups and downs with the way this club is run. If you want to point a finger though, at least bring it with some balance?

Far too many people on here want to force an agenda and are wanting to be seen as some kind of footballing nostradamus. It’s a joke.

The truth is, the club is being run poorly by a man who has no clue how to run a football club, he has zero ambition and the (mediocre) manager we have in place is no miracle worker. He is average. But how can you judge him properly when he can’t build a team and his best players are being taken away season after season? Because tactics didn’t work out one game, but hold on, they did the next? Some great victories this season when we have everyone available? Some awful ones when we have our top players missing?

Add to that, the players are only mid-table apart from a select few, far far overhyped on here by some people.

As if some miracle worker manager can some how keep our decent players from staying injury free all season and make a mid-table outfit into top 6-8.

    Delusions of grandeur.

Pardew can do that if he can keep his best players at NUFC and keep them injury free? Has he not proved it?

Balance folks, balance. There is alot wrong with this football club. Not just the manager.

Here we go again. A blog site choc full of abuse at Pardew for another cr@p display and where does it get anyone?
I suppose it gets the frustration off the collective chests, but the anger is directed at entirely the wrong person. There is one man responsible for the recent abysmal turn of events. Michael billionaire Ashley.
Someone on this site recently made the point that with three smart buys in the January window, sitting as we were at that time looking at a possible forth or fifth finish, we could have had a storming end of season. As it was we bought nobody, we got an out of form striker on loan and sold, not only one of our regular scorers, but our top creator and our captain.
What sort of message did this ineptitude give, not just to the players, but also to their manager? Well it made it quite obvious that NUFC is a club with no ambition to even have a go at qualifying for Europe, so why should they do anything more for the rest of the season than go through the motions. The lesser players would know that they would be moved out before next season, while the better ones, with a World Cup just a few months away, would be wary of risking injury by putting in a proper shift.
Motivation of a team with this mindset would be nigh on impossible for the manager.
The whole bunch of them are mercenaries anyway with little real loyalty to the shirt.
Ashley was in a position to turn this around in the January window and he did sweet f@ck all.
Pardew was voted manager of the year a mere two seasons ago. We had a miraculous fifth place finish then, but you can’t work miracles all the time.
We look, in spite of the recent run, as if we’ll finish ninth or tenth this season. most fans pre-season would probably have settled for that.
Without a serious change in approach by Ashley, however, for next season,we’ll be staring at relegation.
Although I am clearing Pardew from most of the blame heaped upon him on this site, I nonetheless feel he should go for is own sake, as nobody should be expected to work in the sort of regime at present in place at NUFC.
In other words, the club, under its present management, doesn’t deserve an essentially decent and loyal man as its manager.

  • 259 jimmysmith // Apr 5, 2014 at 10:50 PM

I think the side and manager are capable, but they have been starved of oxygen by the owner, most notably by the sale of Cabaye, and a season that should have seen us finish in and around Man U, Everton and Spurs has been utterly derailed and probably next season too. We are witnessing Ashley’s latest cluster f@ck in the guise of being penny wise. I suspect he does it because he has know idea what else to do.

Its hard to watch us play the disjointed absurd football we currently play.
Just exactly what is the grand plan?
Exactly how is AP a good manager?
Oddly enough i think JFK could actually do a better job.

AP has broken every record for us,he is truly the worst manager we have had in the last hundred years.

Do people here think Lee Clark would be worse?
    Regardless of the players/owner
    ?

  • 262 toon22 // Apr 5, 2014 at 11:05 PM

So how many managers have we had who would have done worse than AP with the current squad
    ?

  • 263 Geremi's Prosthetic Leg Fund // Apr 5, 2014 at 11:06 PM

I wouldn’t go anywhere near Lee Clark, heard from people very close to Birmingham that he has a fairly serious drink problem, which was a major factor in his departure from Huddersfield.
The Newcastle job would be just too volatile a situation.

  • 264 Thump // Apr 5, 2014 at 11:08 PM

I love the whole “it’s not AP’s fault”. I absolutely agree that Ashley has his hands tied behind his back, but does that stop Pardew from motivating his squad? Setting a fire in their bellies, ready to put on a good display? We heard it from Mbiwa (“for me it has already been a good season” – has been! Implying the season, at least for him, is over) and I’m sure it’s heard around the locker room as well.

Mike Ashley will always run this club into the ground (whether he wants to or not), but Alan Pardew is the man responsible for the results. All to often we’ve heard “we ws tired” or “we don’t have some important players” and not once have we heard him say “that was a pathetic display, I want to take this opportunity to apologise to the fans who witnessed that first hand”.

He should walk not just for his own sake, but for the sake of the club. The players clearly have no confidence in him, so why is he being kept on?

  • 265 Schwefelberg // Apr 5, 2014 at 11:11 PM

This is the demonstation of the destructive energy of greed.

Ashley can not stop himself making the club into another shop.

And he cannot bear to spend. Instead he is happy to take fans money and serve them the cheapest goods he can. He can not stop himself now.

  • 266 jimmysmith // Apr 5, 2014 at 11:12 PM

I looked at that side on paper before the match and I couldn’t get a shape out of it that would appear competitive. How do you fit DeJong, and Cisse in a side and not get overrun in midfield. Much less Benny also. And there’s no goals without Remy. He found a decent eleven out of a cobbled together squad and then been blindsided by the sale of Cabaye and injuries to key players. He’s no genius, but he’s been working for Scrooge McDuck for 3 years and it’s all just become so threadbare and tired.

@Marty: In fairness, Cisse wasn’t bad today. He looked genuinely hungry and, dare I say, confident. He was still snatching at chances and that buggered him up. Arma should have been brought on, though. No idea why Shola came on at 3 goals down.

  • 270 jimmysmith // Apr 5, 2014 at 11:28 PM

I wouldn’t want to bring Arma on amongst that shambles either. I wouldn’t even want him around it. The team is bereft, in a remorseless and unforgiving league, with the manager in the stands after a moment of utter madness brought about by sheer frustration and stress. If I may push the boat out a little.

we all know what Ashley is to blame for
but how can people use this to absolve pardew is a joke

so we sold cabaye, pardew knew back in sept that he was gonna go
so I ask you why have they not been training without him in the team trying other players different formations
this should be done anyway players get banned and injured,
why do we persist with a 4 4 2 up against teams that play 5 in middle spurs Sherwood one trick pony 5 man mid adeaboyer to hold the ball up we went 4 4 2 we know what happened

damaging moral was cabs being sold damaging to moral yeah some, but it should have been an opportunity for some1 to shine if managed the right way
players played out of position all the time then blamed if it goes wrong is more damaging to moral

no1 else is scoring goofy second highest goal scorer is by trade a striker pardew made him a winger cant get a go up front no wonder he is looking fed up

these are just a few points that pards is to blame for not his boss after all he is paid to manage the squad

there are 2 sides to the rotten regime a rotten owner and rotten manager there are some blurred lines but 2 problem 1 simple cure though Ashley sells and takes pards with him

Nobody is absolving our very average manager.
We are simply pointing the finger at the man who has given him half a toolbox to do the job.
It’s a strange perversion of the trickle down thoery – which is that the wealth concentrated at the top then trickles down by gravity.
In the case of the Toon it’s the sh8e at the top and its very runny.

Sadly we will never know what Pardew could have achieved with half a team of top players and a decent squad. Just look at our defence man – hasbeens, neverwills and alsorans

  • 277 Marty-Toon // Apr 5, 2014 at 11:45 PM

Although Gouffran has been good for us on the wing he’d also give us more than what were gettin out of De Jong and Shola up front.
Benny should be played in the hole and could also bepkayed on the left if Gouffran was up front.
Can only see us get maybe a point at stoke if lucky and again 3 points against Cardiff only cause they are as bad if not worse than us.

  • 278 Graeme // Apr 5, 2014 at 11:45 PM

Just watched MOTD – what an absolute shambles – how we can use the word “TEAM” simply beggars belief. A completely disjointed bunch of misfit individuals who are going through the motions. They are certainly not playing for each other; Colo once again is sat on his arse as Manure score yet another goal – get him off; his mind is in Argentina and we play much better with Mbiwa alongside Williamson anyway.
Pardew – sets ridiculously low standards, yet consistantly fails to achieve them. If he is a Manager then pigs obviously do fly!!!!

    idiots out in force again:)

regardless of what of what Ashley is has done to hamper No NUTs pardew , he has not taken one coaching session, given one team talk , or half time team talk, he has not picked any starting line up, so I really do fail to see why Ashley is brought into this part of the argument, AP has a squad of players and it is up to him to get the best out of them based on the tallent they have
other managers seem to do ok with lesser squads , Everton are flying right now, could even finish 4th

you ever heard this one , you fail to plan , you plan for failure ? that’s exaxctly what pardew did with cabaye , he new he wanted out , we all new , but he new that come jan Cabaye was looking to leave, the guy is a total lunatic and should be no where near a football team ,

there is nothing about our game that suggests we even look like a team other than we wear the same color shirts :(

Man U beat us 4-0 today , but that was never a 4-0 game , Man U did not look half as good as Southampton did last week , or Everton the week before , it was pardew bugging them up so the defeat was more easy to swallow grrrrr

well the chronicle has a poll , not cleverly worded poll like they and ed normally do, a straight to the point , should newcastle sack Alan pardew , when I voted it was 89% yes

I hope it will be soon
