Report Ben Arfa To Return To France In Summer

9:21 am, Wednesday, April 16th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 20 Comments

If you believe all the news on Ben Arfa recently,  then it’s looking increasingly likely that he will be sold by Newcastle in the summer, with only one year left on his Newcastle contract.

Ben Arfa – in action against Arsenal

Ben Arfa is once again not as fit as the Newcastle coaches would like, and there are reports that after the last two games, there have been arguments in the Newcastle dressing room surrounding the 27 year-old French International, and the fact he doesn’t work hard for the side.

There’s news in Football Direct news today that Ben Arfa could return to his former club Marseilles in the summer, and of course, that’s the club he joined us from back in 2010.

Ben Arfa has played well for the Tyneside club over the last four years, and he has scored some phenomenal goals for us, but his fitness level and lack of work-rate seem to have become a bone of contention even more this year.

Alan Pardew refused to answer questions on the 27 year-old on Saturday after the 1-0 Stoke defeat, and he will know Newcastle fans will not be happy if the mercurial winger is sold this summer.

But from all the reports that seems to be what is going to happen.

Marseilles are not having a very good season in France, and are currently in 6th place and a whopping 28 points behind PSG, and 5 points behind 4th placed Saint-Etienne.

Football Direct News is reporting that Argentine boss Marcelo Bielsa is very likely to become the new manager at the south of France club, and that Ben Arfa is a wanted man there.

Ben Arfa has played 86 times for Newcastle with 14 goals and 18 assists, and while at Marseilles from 2008 he had a similar goal-scoring record, and played 91 times with 15 goals and 8 assists for only French club who have won the European Cup.

Comments welcome.

Lets be honest here, Ben Arfa is both Waster and Wasted in our team. I think him leaving could be a good thing, although its a shame to part with such a talented player. We can’t get him to play the way we want him to (AP’s fault?), and he can’t play the way he wants to. I will always have fond memories of his playing for us, but I just can’t see him ever meeting our expectations.

jeff, I understand your intentions, but I think that’s a sh1t idea mate.

He will probably have the last laugh ;)

HD, no, not really, however if you believe that given the form of the last 16 games MA hasn’t acted, that bad results over another 4 will make him change then you are mistaken. Frankly I would like something to cheer me up over the summer, not more misery. Remember, regardless of who owns the club outright, it is our club, and has been our club for a lot longer than it has been MA, AP’s etc. They are nothing but a blip in our history, no more than the Seymour’s were. It is inevitable that the club will change hands at some point, and simply devaluing our own emotional asset is a really crap idea mate.

Well lets see Come 1st june Remy-Gosling-Newton-Strolla-Ldj contract’s will be up and there gone.
Hopefully Obershocker-Amalfitano-Gutti-Marvs-Saylor-ferguson-Vuckic will be shown the door.
And there is a good chance Benny-Debs-Krull-Cisse-Santon-Colo may be sold.
And charnley say’s that we will bring in 1-2 players??

Yes that’s one way of thinking.

Other is may be he is waiting till the summer. a win or 2 could affect his thinking or paper over the cracks.

Jazzyp…with us only signing 2 players each season lets hope we won’t have a fire sale ;)

    “Cracks”…….The building ‘s F@ckin falling down mate

  • 14 G // Apr 16, 2014 at 9:42 AM

HD, I doubt that’s the case. He has a man in his pocket, and if the last 16 games havent already caused him to act, then he simply isn’t going to act at all. It’s frustrating mate, but we really do just have to wait this one out. I will do anything I can to encourage a change of ownership, however, venomous fans don’t generally appeal to investors mate.

On this article. It will be a sad day for me when HBA decides to leave. The goal at Everton, the early and interim promise, had me dreaming of the return of the entertainers. Two-three more players of that calibre and we would be set! But, it looks like it won’t happen unless- unless AP is summarily fired, despite the apparent deal that a top 10 means he keeps his job.

BTW, a deal is a deal. If MA made that agreement, yes, he should keep to it. That’s what a gentleman must do, even if I hate the idea and if it was a wrong deal to make.

You guys surely don’t want your team to lose! I’d rather we have 4 shock wins!! It would mean he’s doing something right. This is a results business, let’s face it.

BTW, I was never quite convinced with this guy, from the start. The way he dismissed Routledge as not a PL player (along with many on this blog, it must be admitted) and then spoke about educating fans, etc., no, he never got my vote.

    Jesper-Morning pal
Joking aside I can easily see us losing 8-9-10 players this summer.5 are out of contract,3-4 offer very little and are simply not good enough and would be happy to see them moved on.And finally can see us losing a couple of our so called purple players if not more.

Install realplayer. Allow download extention. When you watch a youtube video move cursor over top right hand corner of video and a box will pop up asking if you want to download it

For me HBA going would be a clear case of wasted talent on behalf of our coaching staff. I’m no managerial genius, just like pardew I suppose lol cheap shot but hey ho, but the first thing I would of done as soon as I seen the slightest weight gain Benny showed, would of been to assign a nutritionist and if need be his own fitness coach. A fit and muscular Benny would run riot against so many full backs in this league. His natural ability is enough to get a starting place in this shower we call a team, but still he looks on from the bench as players of the ilk of ameobi, dummet, gosling get starting places before him ffs anyone would be pissed off knowing your twice the player of any of those. Oh and when did shola last track back Jesus christ hes the only man who can jump lower than his standing height and watches as the opponent runs off with the ball still pardew plays him. Benny is a player who can make the opposition look silly when he’s attacking them, not crunch tackles into them like pardew thinks he should. Big shame if he goes.
