I’ve Not Been In A Team That’s Had Such A Bad Run

9:04 am, Thursday, April 17th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 23 Comments

Newcastle have not scored in the last six hours of play – but hopefully we will have Loic Remy back on Saturday, and with the French International striker in the side, there’s always a chance we can score a goal.

Vurnon Anita – never been on such a bad run

Since Yohan Cabaye left in January, Dutch International Vurnon Anita has essentially switched over to replace the Frenchman – but Vurnon’s goal scoring prowess is not that of a Yohan Cabaye.

And Vurnon missed a decent chance from a header late in the second half last Saturday, that could have given us a point at the Britannia Stadium.

And with Vurnon having played at Ajax all his career before arriving at Newcastle almost two years ago, he hasn’t gone through such a bad run as Newcastle are having at the moment.

This is what Vurnon said in the local press yesterday:

“I’ve not really been in a team that’s had a similar run, but you have periods in competition when that happens and now we are in that position.”

“We need to keep on working hard to get in the box because we get the chances, but we don’t score.”

“That’s football, but I think we just need to stick together because we are now in a corner where the points are falling – so we need to stick together.”

Vurnon has turned out to be a steady and dependable player for Newcastle, and he’s also very consistent, and of course the 25 year-old  can play in many different positions, but has been used by Alan Pardew mainly in central midfield.

Vurnon has scored two goals for Newcastle – the last one being late in the Hull City game that we won 4-1 – and that seems like ages away now – with all that’s happened since then.

Anita will start against Swansea, and we really need a win in this game – and it could turn out to be a really pivotal game for the Newcastle manager Alan Pardew, who will hold his press conference later today.

Comments welcome.

Note: Craig Finnigan is a Newcastle fan and graduated from Newcastle College in 2011, and he has created a one-off key ring, and all the profits will go to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

Thanks.

You are probably right. It’s just that we have forgotten how to score. We do remember how to concede. And the damned game says that you need at least a goal to have a claim on 3 points :)

Reading last night comments, manxpie is at it again, saying that though he’s been on here two days in a row, I hope he dosnt keep it up otherwise I can’t call him a part timer.

Have we ever lost 5 in a row? Or has AP already shattered that record?

Pards can break both club and personal records this season, he managed eight in a row for W Ham but one of those was against Chesterfield.
    Welsh,
You are in the top six most pointless posters on here.

Welsh…the trick is to leave before it gets too late (that is usual when he comes out of hiding looking for trouble)

Mike Ashley a man who does not care about his Employees why would he care about Club’s fans.

So Pardew’s relying on Remy pulling him out of the mire.

Marvellous, great to know that our pride rests on the shoulders of a loanee who probably has no desire to stay.

Such a perfect example of forward planning by our wonderful owner.

    Pathetic!

Why do the words ‘steady and dependable’ sound so hollow and depressing? Does it mean he’s not about to be snatched by a Champions league club because he’s not really that good?

    Pardew Out !!!

Anita is usually stable Ed? His passing is usually wayward. I have been keeping an eye on his play since he took over from Cabaye and his passing is horrible most of the time. Constantly giving the ball away but then again who in our team can pass the ball anyway!? Oh yeah I forgot HBA and Marveaux but they aren’t ever in the team because Pardew doesn’t know how to use them and they don’t know how to defend! What a joke manager we have honestly.

I hope we lose if it means Pardew is replaced with someone better, only if he’s to be replaced with someone better and not worse.

  • 23 JP...from The Rock // Apr 17, 2014 at 12:50 PM

I hope Remy has a shite day and Debuchy does play and even Sissoko passes a late fitness test, then Pardew might possibly have no more excuses to cover for his pathetic tactics.

No Get Out Of Jail Card for you Pardew!!
