This summer is shaping up to be a pivotal transfer window for Newcastle United, and it will need to be a very (very) good one, if we are to get back to where we used to be as a top six club or a top four club. The way things are going right now there doesn’t seem to be much chance of that happening. đ
Gang of three – Charnley, Pardew and Ashley
And the way the side has completely under-performed this year is alarming to say the least, and while we have had top players like Loic Remy and Mathieu Debuchy missing through injury, it doesn’t say much for the players who have been in the side.
And after almost seven years of Mike Ashley’s ownership, Newcastle now seem to be back to square one – and going nowhere.
Well that’s good in one way that we are going nowhere, because some clubs are going down to the Championship in May, and one of them seems to be Sunderland.
Alan Pardew seems optimistic about what will happen this summer:
âThere is uncertainty among the fans about our intentions in the summer, and perhaps I know a little bit more than them,â Â âI can feel a little bit more confident about it. Some fans may fear we are not going to move forward, but I think we will.”
âI think we have got ourselves in a good position in terms of transfer preparation. We must make sure we strengthen well in the summer and we are not under any illusions about that.”
“I’m not going to put a figure on how many are coming in, but we are certainly going to be active.â
In the last two transfer windows we signed no new players permanently, and we also looked to be incompetent – but there again Joe Kinnear is not around any more – and it’s a good opportunity for new Managing Director Lee Charnley to show what he can do.
With things having gone very badly in the second half of this season, we are fairly confident it will be a good transfer window for the club, but of course there is real skepticism from the fans, because Mike Ashley seems so tight with Newcastle’s money.
There are signs that a number of players could leave the club this summer – and they include Shola Ameobi, Loic Remy, Luuk de Jong, Jonas Gutierrez, Gabby Obertan, Romain Amalfitano, Conor Newton and Dan Gosling.
And then there are rumors some players could leave – like Fab Coloccini, Ben Arfa, Sylvain Marveaux, Steven Taylor, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Tim Krul and Davide Santon.
But we cannot have too many of that second list leave, because it would be difficult to lose 14 players this summer – and impossible to replace them all.
Those on the first list are almost certain to all leave, and we’ll need around six new good players brought in including strikers, and maybe a couple of players to replace the creativity we lost when Yohan Cabaye left the club in January.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.

Comment #1We are five fuskin players short anyway, how will replacing the six that leave with four unproven Frenchmen improve the squad.

Comment #4It doesn’t matter what money you give this idiot, he will mess it up. It will be an absolute waste to give him money for flair players when he doesn’t play Ben Arfa, Marveaux, Abeid, who is now doing very well over in Greece. One who got publically slated as an not good enough by dead brain.
Plus, he plays Cisse, Gouffran, Sissoko and the two youngsters Armstrong and Campbell out of position on the wing.
Yes, Sissoko is out of position because his final ball is generally very poor. Don’t be blinded by the fact he can run with the ball. That is for a more central position, or wider of a middle 3 (433) which a creative player can then be involved in the next phase.

Comment #7I’m sick of Pardew referring to 3 or 4 games which have been poor in his interviews! Subliminally disguising the run since January where we’ve been abymsal.
Even Cisse and Remy’s last minute goals which gave us 6 points where very poor games as well. Both scored from individual ability of Remy from a loose ball and Ben Arfa as the get out of jail card again lifting a beautiful ball through onto Cisse’s head.
Him and Ashley have killed my joy at watching games.

Comment #8We Want Pardew Out: http://youtu.be/EBy-avsEUR8
Charlton fans wanted him out, West ham fans wanted him out, the majority of us want him out. Lots more of that on You Tube.
Those players will see right through him and his pathetic training methods and negative tactics. So draining for them.

Comment #9I was watching La Liga and the commentators were saying that because Messi wasn’t getting as many chances as he is used to having in previous years, his work rate has dropped and at times he’s looked a bit down, and was tracking back even less.
Now, put him in a Pardew side and it would get a whole lot worse for him on that note. The best player in the world.
So how would that be any different for Hatem the Scapegoat in a dreadful team? Poor coaching affects moral and especially for flair players playing in a negative team.
Ashley and Pardew out.

Comment #10Pardew has to go before we hit the window.
Plus a new manager might have a bit of clout with getting Ashley to spend or they won’t sign a contract.
But Pardews tactics truly seem to ruin flair or even technical players.
I would like us to go back to a 433. With Sissoko and Debuchy sitting behind a pacey winger and a completely new left side.
And a new striker and a new midfielder in there too. Pls!

Comment #12Does Pardew appreciate that there’s a difference between activity and productivity? [Pardew â We Will Be Active In The Summer]
Again, this crap’s all part of the charm offensive to mask the realities of Newcastle United (crap performances, crap results, lies, 14000 drop in season ticket renewals, fan protests and so it goes on).
If fans fall for the annual transfer charade again, they’re the mugs that Ashley takes them for.

Comment #13Pardew has no idea whatsoever what Ashley will or wont do with his cash
That’s what happens when Conference League tactics, awfully and unacceptable individual and team performances criticising the players in public and abusing the readers of the local newspapers all ends in sheeite embarrassing results
Dismissal looms large. Hopefully.
