Nightmare Goes On And On – Magpies Lose 2-1

nufc emblemswansea

Wilfried Bony scored a goal in the stoppage time of each half this afternoon, to give Swansea only their second win in 10 games against a weak Newcastle United side , who have now lost five games on the trot, and this must be one of the worst runs for a Newcastle side for a long long time as we have now lost

We play Arsenal and Liverpool away and then Cardiff City at home so we may not get another win this season, and certainly the players lack confidence.

And Newcastle even went ahead in the game after 23 minutes through Shola Ameobi, and it was his first Premier League goal of the season, but then two minutes into stoppage time Wilfried Bony beat Mike Williamson to a corner kick and headed the ball high into the back of the net.

And then in the two minutes of stoppage time at the end of the game, when Newcastle looked as though they could at least break their four game losing streak – Cheick Tiote managed to foul Emnes on his way to goal.

And the referee awarded a penalty, and Bony made no mistake from the spot, and that was our 5th defeat on the trot and heaps even more pressure on Newcastle manager Alan Pardew.

Swansea have now also done the double over Newcastle in each of the last two seasons, even when we caught them today, when they had just one win in nine before this game. :(

Stoke drew 1-1 at Cardiff City so are now only 2 points behind us,  and in all likelihood will beat us to 9th place, and Crystal Palace got their 5th win in a row at West Ham by 1-0, and have gained 15 points on Newcastle since we beat them 1-0.

And Palace are now only 3 points behind us – so they could even pip us to 10th place.

If that happens we will not make our target of a top ten finish, and Alan Pardew could be fired.

How Will Newcastle Fare Against Crystal Palace?

    Stuart,

If you write to the club, you might get the following email in return.

    Dear sir,

Thank you for your enquiry. Having studied the club’s finances, we have been unable to find evidence of the “losses” to which you refer.
Indeed, attendances continue to be excellent.

    yours etc…..

  • 2 manxpie // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:12 PM

so what was the difference between the 1st half of the season to the second?

and stuart you say the players haven’y had any critisim!!

wat about all the groans today every time they passed backwards!!

and to gloat when we lose is a joke!!

and even more to hammer people who celebrate a goal!!

  • 3 dantoon85 // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:13 PM

    Utter shite

  • 4 JackButler // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:13 PM

Five straight defeats, the first time this has happened in the EPL for NUFC.

Pardew is only part of the problem but by christ he needs to go asap

  • 5 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:15 PM

Di we know anything more about the injuries?

  • 6 belgrade fan // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:15 PM

Next week we will have 6 loses in a trot. Improved record. I hope we lose every single game until pardew is out

  • 7 daztoon // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:16 PM

Another game we should be winning but thanks to Pardumb a team needing points to survive does the double over us.

Add to that another record for Pardumb 5 defeats in a row soon to 6

  • 8 toonarmydownsouth // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:17 PM

    Poor in the final third…..again!
See Shola is leading the MOTM poll, Anita for me today, grafted all day played his ars3 off

Well, where do we go from here lads?

  • 9 toonluvva // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:17 PM

Not really a surprise was it?

Mr Pardew has lost the dressing room and our season was effectively over once JFK sold Cabaye.

Please dont keep calling for Pardew to go. He won’t resign, and Ashley wont sack him.

At least we wont finish in the top 10 now, so no bonus, in reality rewarding failure.

In theory we could be overtaken by Palace, a team tipped to go down with the Mackems not so long ago.

jack you say he’s part of the problem so wats the real problem?

is it ashley by any chance?

so wat is gonna change if we sack pardew?
wat is gonna change when we never have a full squad of players?
wat is gonna change when we lose a couple of top players we turn to shite when the replacements arn’t good enough?

  • 12 toonking // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:18 PM

if the transfer window doesn’t go to plan this summer then next season will be a season when i’m going to be much more local myself.

i said to transfer sage a few days ago that it’s what happens this summer that will show once and for all just how good or bad pardew really has been and if it was really the fat b@stard who has caused this.

also if we do have a bad summer then i don’t think this blog will be even worth my time

    Into the bottom half hopefully

Least they won’t get bonuses that way and we don’t deserve to be top 10

  • 14 JackButler // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:19 PM

    tads

The scary thing is that as bad as it has become Ashley will be a happy lad as we are hitting all our targets. We are still in the top 10, though I think both Stoke and Palace will pass us, so Ashley has no reason to sack Pardew. We spend next to nothing while retaining our EPL place and thats all he wants as thats where the money is and thats where SD gets the exposure he wants

  • 15 bob52 // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:20 PM

The result with that starting line up was inevitable, its as though Pardew wants to be sacked so would I with five years pay as compensation, surely Ashman has to make the call now.

  • 24 JackButler // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:23 PM

    manxpie

Its simply to easy to blame Ashley for every single thing that happens as he doesn’t train/coach the players, he doesn’t select the side or the formation. Yes the man has no concern for us actually achieving anything but Pardew is far from blameless.

Ashley pays the players but they play for the manager and this lot don’t want to play for him.

Basically Ashley and Pardew are cut from the same cloth as neither know what they are doing and both are truly out of their depth

collo needs a special shout he showed from the 1st minute he was fighting
and as you say tads anita showed the same but tiote got praise from the commentators but for me he was poor all game turning inside all game and a stupid tackle at the end

all in all much better than recent games but still no attacking threat and thats with 4 players starting plus 2 coming on!

  • 30 Marty-Toon // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:24 PM

To be fair,we didn’t deserve to lose today.
We made a few chances, played ok and harried well at times.
Ridiculous challenge by Tiote in the box, clumsy as it gets.
De Jong looked handy before gettin injured and got an assist.
Anita did well today but changing gosling for Armstrong was always gonna leave us open to the break.
    Stupidity or bravery by AP?

4 losing derby twice in same season sice 1969.

I agree mate but as far as Ashley can see we are inside the top ten so we are achieving all the targets that were set at the start of the season, so he’s not going to do anything to change something thats working for him.

We are stuck with Pardew and Ashley for the foreseeable future unfortunately

The funny thing is, we were playing much worse before Pardew was forced into changes, so I’d say his luck isn’t completely shot, because they had us pinned and it could’ve been a drubbing if we’d have continued with his mish-mash experimental, grasping at straws ‘tactics’ he began with.

If he does not get sacked over the next 24hrs I genuinely believe he will never be sacked. We have had the headbutt followed by the worst football ever played under any manager I have ever known at the Toon.

I am more upset at myself – I was not one bit bothered when they scored the penalty and that is not me. Heart on my sleeve for the club that is in my blood yet I shrugged off another defeat.

Sick and fed up with people involved with our club who have no history/connections/want/ambition/integrity. The list goes on.

how Ashley is a just and rightful owner is beyond me, all he wants is coverage to show his SD …..

I have all but given up for my club. Oh what I would give to have KK back ran by an ambitious chairman.

  • 55 Ancientcoptic // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:32 PM

Where do you start? I could write a book on Pardew’s failings at the moment.

The biggest one that stuck out for me was Sammy Ameobi being missing. Gouffran has been a passenger playing on the flanks for months now… Sammy Ameobi gets past his man and will produce balls across the box, surely an obvious choice ahead of Gouffran, with Gouffran playing as a striker.

Pardew refuses to rotate or drop players out of form. There are glaring mistakes going on that everybody can see.

At any other club, he would have been gone by now… he has had a chance to save himself, but obviously he is incapable of it.

Pardew should go, not because the fans want him to go, but because he has brought this upon himself. Pardew’s making, and Pardew’s doing.

Very strange formation to start the game. Cisse looked hopeless as usual before he was hurt. Why not bring Armstrong on earlier? Debuchy tried to make a difference. So many problems in the squad now. Surely the owner and his cronies have to go?

That 8 year contract is bound to have a bunch of get out clauses! My bet is pardew won’t be sacked until one of those clauses can ne activated and will cost the club minimum outlay! My bet is they’ll wait to see if we finish top 10

  • 62 toonarmydownsouth // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:35 PM

Well guess we’ll see what Ashley is all about now
I think most football fans, not toon fans, feel he has been afforded time due to 5th place, Europe and player sales, but football is a results business and don’t think the football world would of been surprised if he got his P45 a few weeks ago

But what will Ashley do, he fully deserves to be sacked as we have been beyond woeful in 2014, so why hasn’t he been sacked yet?

I really hope Toonking and Manx get the help they desperately need.

    Last season 16th
This season no Europa, no domestic cup involvement and played fewer games than any other PL team.

And still a refusal by Pardew to play any flair and creative playmakers. Ben Arfa didn’t even get his usual cameo, out of position and asked to track back more than create and Marveaux (more assists than Cabaye) ostracised again because Pardew doesn’t know what to do with them and it would be just the same with Cabella and Grenier. lol !

  • 70 toonking // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:41 PM

what i will say is pardew should never have been given that 8 year contract in the first place. when i think back i get a feeling myself that ashley did it just as another way of getting lots of money really which failed. the thing was at the the FA were looking for an england manager and pardew was a favourite so what ashley probably thought was by giving pardew an 8 year contract with no clauses then the FA would have to pay lots of compensation to ashley for taking him away. The problem is he has failed and as world and european cups only come once every 2 years it’s not very often that england managers are needed

  • 71 toonarmydownsouth // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:41 PM

    BPC
From 8th down there’s not a huge revenue difference in terms of places

Ashley’s see’s a much bigger return off his free advertising

  • 72 manxpie // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:41 PM

but jack who is to blame absolutely for that?

and again when we had very few injuries we were top 6 actually looking for a top 4 place

and then we have another shocking and absolute joke of a window and the whole club goes to pot let alone the team and manager

i seriously can not understand how people can’t see this link and then actually think the answer is a new manager

and i will actually laugh and list the people who want it because i guarentee it will be a hell of alot worse than pardew i absolutely guarentee it! but then hey wats the next step???

  • 73 GeordieTwo // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:41 PM

It is not a nightmare. This is just another POOR game in the reality. And this is why:
1.Paul Dummet(poor poor player).Out of the team as soon as possible.
2.Anita(I always said that this is the worst player in our team and if another manager comes in he will not get 1 minute of playing)
3.Tiote(pretty often brainless player but he IS a good player and has something to say in the future).
4.Marveaux,Obertan,Ben Arfa are NOWHERE.They are top class players.
5.Shane Ferguson is great player and he is on loan.
6.Alan Pardew still cries for Cabaye and makes nothing exept LOSING.
7.Many years ago i thought that he was the only manager sacked from the Premier League without a reason(while he was in West Ham)and i wanted Pardew to return to the Premier League and to show what he is capable of.BUT now i know why he was treated like that and they were RIGHT.

Bloody hell; just to make it worse, scum have equalised at Chelski 1-1

  • 84 GeordieTwo // Apr 19, 2014 at 5:48 PM

We have now scored as many goals at St. James Park in 2014 as Sunderland have! Well done Pardew! We still trail Spurs and ManU though!

I know this is a bit jammy mates but should I be hoping we get relegated next season to get rid of the parasite Ashley? This is like having a leech on your nutsack! Harrumph!

    Jamsey

We must have just imagined those ” no more lies, no more excuses, pardew out ” banners

I’m the same. I was listening to the updates on 5 live and I laughed when the last goal went in. there is no hope any more.

no protests today .. scared , thats the problem . scared that ashley will ban them next season , watch the next away game- there will be insults flying left right and centre, banners all over the place, then next home games ? schhhhh , quiet as lambs , the fans have have no bottle, no brains. some boos at the end , big deal, thats really going to make ashly sit up and listen . pathetic .

  • 89 Norpie // Apr 19, 2014 at 6:30 PM

This is the first time ever I could not care less if they lost. I do feel for the players, allthough one or two should never have worn the shirt. This apathy needs to end now. No guts. No plan. No spirit.

Pardew says that if he had been on the touchline Swansea would not have scored the winner. Why does he continually spout such crap.

It looks that the press are starting to highlight Mr Ashley as the person behind the whole debacle that is NUFC. Jamie Carragher ,has a good article in todays Daily Mail (sorry I don’t have a link). Try http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/index.html

I’m wondering if Mr Ashley is just waiting to see exactly how badly we will do between now an the rest of the season before giving Poodle the push. Fingers crossed.

Does anyone believe, as I do, that a decent manager/ coach could get more out of our squad and that Mr Ashley might only need a modest investment if that was the case.

I would love to see Mr Ashley splash the cash in the summer, but in my heart of hearts I feel he knows that Pardew will only mismanage any signings that are brought in.

Only a few games left to suffer this season, lets hope we can pull things around but I doubt we will.
