21 year-old Wilfried Zaha has had a torrid time of it at Manchester United this season, and that’s not unlike a number of their players under new manager David Moyes, and it’s very likely the Red Devils will unload the former Crystal Palace winger this summer.
Wilfried Zaha – tough time at Manchester United
It seems Newcastle have been interested in the right winger for almost three years now, but were unwilling to pay out the £10M transfer fee (rising to £15M based on performances), the Red Devils paid Crystal Palace for him fifteen months ago.
Wilfried stayed at Palace for the rest of last season and helped them get promoted, and indeed Crystal Palace Chairman Steve Parish has already said he is interested in signing his former player this summer – as Palace have avoided relegation and are now just 3 points behind Newcastle, having won five games in a row – and another team has lost five games in a row. 🙁
Zaha has hardly played this season, and appeared only four times for Manchester United, and he’s been on loan at Cardiff City since January, and has appeared eleven times for the South Wales side, who are fighting desperately against relegation.
It’s very likely that Newcastle will have a big clear-out of players this summer, and it could be that Ben Arfa is moved out, and Wilfried certainly has the ability, and is probably suffering in confidence, after his rude awakening at Manchester United this season.
Remember that form is temporary but class is permanent, and this youngster is still only 21, so he still has a bright future after his misstep at Manchester.
And with his transfer fee now estimated to be around £6M, that could be an excellent deal for Newcastle – and we need some creative players desperately, as we’ve looked a very mundane side this year, and have a terrible record to match those displays.
While at Crystal Place Zaha played 143 times with 18 goals and 20 assists for the London side, and he has played 13 times for the England U21 side and twice for the full England side.
We think this Ivory Coast born player could be a savvy signing for Newcastle this summer.
What do you think?

Comment #1hey guys I’m back from my lovely Sunday dinner 🙂 mmmmm
anyway a few good post about managers, why would MA pay 3 million for Pulis when other managers who are better are free?
this doesn’t make sense at all, but then again when has the Mirror ever been right when it concerns Newcastle?
for me I would personally go for Martinez what he did for Wigan and now Everton is superb, he got the players playing football.
people would probably say well he got Wigan relegated so he’s no good here, but guess what he won a cup with them and had a chairmen who couldn’t improve the squad with lack of funds, same with Everton they don’t have the right funds to improve there squad that’s why they had to rely on loan deals.
but if Martinez came here he would probably become a legend within months being at Newcastle for some reason Martinez style for me is mixed between KK & SBR this is who we need, this is a manager who can take us forward and make us the entertainers again.

Comment #4Liverpool are a pleasure to watch…Entertainers…I remember watching our youngsters playing Liverpool a coupla years back…sterling and Sameobi were the outstanding players on the park… The difference between the 2 has been the coaching!!!
Liverpool alwYs had a shout for the title this season with all the other top clubs changing answers this season… Rodgers had a season under his belt to create his philosophy…positive attacking football!!
Plus they have had no European distractions..

Comment #7B&W your mad if you think Martinez would leave Everton to come to Newcastle these days. We are not a big club anymore in terms of football. I hate to say it but I really cannot see MA sacking AP even if we loose every game between now and the end of the season. I bet he would keep him just to piss us fans off even more.

It’s not a question of how much it would cost to recruit a manager. Laudrup for example may not incur a compensation fee to a club, but sure as hell and like any other manager with an ounce of ambition to win, he’d require assurances from Ashley about money to spend, authority etc etc.
So, you can forget about recruiting a manager who’d expect to be given any amount of money to spend!

If you are the MD and the company you manage is failing you either do something about it or you get sacked. Sometimes it’s the same thing.
Lee Charnley is no different. Newcastle United in the Championship is not what Sports Direct want to advertise their products to the mass media.
No one is going to argue that the team, its manager and his coaches are not failing as the results clearly do not lie.
I would imagine that Lee Charnley is no mug and knows that if he doesn’t act his boss will know that he cannot be trusted to act decisively to safeguard the investment of his own money.

I see that you already wrote about the table that Ed gave me the credit for.
Sorry that this how Ed wrote it.
This is what I’ve wrote for him in the email:
The last thing I wanted to tell you is, that maybe you want to write about this in the blog. We are officially the worse team in the PL in the last 17 games.
Here is a table that a user named ebm showed today on the blog:
And I’ve showed him the table. But I gave full credit to you.
So just wanted to make it clear that it was an honest mistake by Ed that maybe didn’t understand that it was you who posted the table and not me, but I did say this in my email to him.

I think I will decline the predictable invitations that will come our way to chuck stones at Lee Charnley. I am only surprised that you are so quickly off the mark to push this latest piece of Ashley misdirection.
Could it be that the poor man REALLY wants to build a successful team, but is cursed with hiring incompetents?
Tell it to someone else.

Comment #24ok not sure how to word this
I guess you have to look at where and how the ball is being passed to understand our philosophy in football
Swansea looked to pass the ball forwards as much as possible
Briton to Hernandez was the most popular pass that happened 14 times yesterday
infact Swansea had 4 other player link ups before our top one
Williams to amat 12
Hernandez to de Guzman 12 times
Davies to williamson 12
our top paring was krul to shola 11 times
then tiote to dummett
so these last few weeks of back to basics really was back to long ball or pass it backwards
another fact
out of the top 11 player passing to each other combos , Swansea had 9 of them we had the 2 I mentioned
I don’t see what they work on in training

Comment #28I will say this again and again.
I would prefer to see us getting only 13 points out of our last 17 games and seeing HBA and Marv playing. At least there is a chance for something happening when you have creative players.
What have we gained by playing safe? Nothing. We had one of the worse half of a season for this club and we saw players like Gosling, Shola and others get playing time, while Armstrong and other youngsters, and our more creative players don’t see the pitch almost.

Fella I just want someone who has a connection with the North East preferably The club.
I do believe Bruce would be a good manager and base this on a recent talk in with Harps who stated Brucie was man made for the Toon and he was the best manager he had worked under. His word is good enough for me.
As for Clarky, watto give you them….
Sir Les and Shearer in some coaching capacity I think would be better than what we have.
Cheers for the craic fella

Comment #33Re Saha. He was bought by manure but loaned back to Palace.
Why didn’t we try the same trick with Cabaye & PSG?
Cabs would have benefited from regular starts in PL.
PSG would have had their man ready for next season.
Newcastle would have had money in Mr Ashleys wallet and still had the services of one of their better players.
Just a thought.
