What Is Pardew Talking About In This Interview – Video

3:19 pm, Sunday, April 20th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 219 Comments

Two minutes into this interview after the 2-1 home defeat to Swansea yesterday, our 10th home defeat of the season, Alan Pardew said if he had been on the touchline he could have prevented the wining goal being scored by Wilfried Bony.

Here it is.

And whose fault was it that Alan Pardew was not on the touchline yesterday – when he says he could have prevented that winning goal?

I rest my case. 😀

Comments welcome.

    Wow! what an interview.

  • 3 wolfshead@toon // Apr 20, 2014 at 3:28 PM

he could have stopped it from the stands if he had his sniper rifle with him :-)

  • 4 Himanshu Dhingra // Apr 20, 2014 at 3:32 PM

I didn’t wacth the game but hear he had already left

  • 5 lochinvar // Apr 20, 2014 at 3:33 PM

So Pardew in effect is criticising Carver for not following his own instructions given over the phone from the stand where he was sitting due to his own stupid actions. His position is untenable. He’s lost the coaches, lost the dressing room, lost the fans, lost the press and lost the plot. If only he could loose Ashley somewhere like a desert island the his job woul be complete.

  • 6 Bambams // Apr 20, 2014 at 3:33 PM

From the touchline he could of headbutted Bony as he ran past to take the pen….

Gents is it just me or us this bloke oblivious to the rubbish he comes out with ? We all know he has an ego but surely somebody close to him must be telling him to think before lying. …

  • 7 Jail for Ashley // Apr 20, 2014 at 3:38 PM

I don’t know how it wasn’t picked up on camera but I saw him nut an old bloke in the disabled section then walking off calling him an ‘effin old cnut.

  • 8 Bambams // Apr 20, 2014 at 3:39 PM

It might be on soccer AM third eye next week

  • 9 Rotonda heights // Apr 20, 2014 at 3:41 PM

Supporters could, of course, vote with their feet. Saturday’s crowd of 51,057 was the biggest in the land – hardly a stay-away stance, is it?
But in the North East that’s the way it is and, no matter how hard they grumble or how passionately they protest, they will still file through the gates of Gallowgate en masse. For that season-ticket is more than 19 football matches. It is 19 days away from the missus, 19 excuses to hit the pub early and stay out late, all the while bemoaning the owner, manager and players whose pockets they are lining. Ashley knows this. He is a very successful businessman, after all.
So what can we expect next season? Well, Pardew will be manager, Ashley will be owner, the aim to survive and reap the financial rewards. And 50,000 Geordies will turn up every week.

Subject: Re: Pulis To Replace Pardew

Ashley doesn’t want any whiff of ambition or squad improvement he is making the fans pay for showing dissent against him and he is winning he is clearing out old school fans who cant be hoodwinked and replacing them with what my missus calls Stepford fans who are either retarded and cant see what’s going in around them or are brainwashed into thinking we are improving and do have ambition.

  • 10 Jail for Ashley // Apr 20, 2014 at 3:43 PM

I’ve told the Mag and they’re running a story on it.
He could have at least apologized to the fans rather than petulantly telling us it is what it is, I can’t stand the fusker anymore.

  • 11 Ancientcoptic // Apr 20, 2014 at 3:45 PM

Pardew may in fact be correct, it is possible he could not stopped the 2nd goal if he would have directed the team differently from the touch line.

Yet still, it makes little difference for the tripe we have been served up for the past 2 seasons.

If Pardew is staying with the club, it is an absolute must that he changes his coaching staff for next season.

  • 12 BuckLuck // Apr 20, 2014 at 3:45 PM

I think Pardew almost qualifies for the death penalty… if there was one.

One earlier post got it spot on(don’t remember who posted it). Start boycotting matches if you want changes or accept the current regime and attend.

    My biggest wish for 2014/2015 season;
? New modern manager and technical coaching staff.

  • 13 Jail for Ashley // Apr 20, 2014 at 3:45 PM

    Where’s that from,

  • 14 Ancientcoptic // Apr 20, 2014 at 3:47 PM

Carver can have no excuses, he was completely lame at running the side in Pardew’s absence… they are all as bad as each other. The blind leading the blind.

  • 15 Geremi's Prosthetic Leg Fund // Apr 20, 2014 at 3:50 PM

It is scary how far behind our coaching set up seems to be. I see no professionalism or drive to improve within it at all! Not only is it too small it’s also so poor. If we absolutely had to keep Pardew I would insist on proper coaches who are modern and technical who can take the training whilst Pardew does the management side. That way they can at least advise him on how to play the players strengths and properly set up the team.

  • 18 toon kk // Apr 20, 2014 at 4:01 PM

Trouble with Pardew he genuinely thinks he’s doing a great job and MA doesn’t know any better.

  • 19 Jail for Ashley // Apr 20, 2014 at 4:05 PM

I think the footballing world have now realised Mashers is a cnut, he obviously doesn’t watch us much if he’s only going from league positioning.

  • 20 Jail for Ashley // Apr 20, 2014 at 4:08 PM

From an outsiders perspective it must look as though Pardew is doing ok, continually having your best player sold and no signings for a year and a bit, surely with the pressure he’s feeling it’s time to tell Mikey to stick his job up his arse, or maybe his bonus is a lot more than we’re led to believe,
MA: Oy Alan ‘ewp me fleece these fick Geordie cnuts,
    AP: Yeah mate

  • 21 Rotonda heights // Apr 20, 2014 at 4:09 PM

    Toon prodigy

Everton had Lukaku out for 2 a half months but they didn’t just give up and how many times but Cabaye played in 5 losing games in a sequence of 7 matches just before he left.

It goes much deeper than a poor manager’s inability to motivate a team if just one player is out.

It is entirely pardew’s option to not play any technically creative flair playmakers or to break up the Willo MYM partnership for no reason.

  • 22 Ashton // Apr 20, 2014 at 4:13 PM

  • 34 stuart no9 // Apr 20, 2014 at 4:56 PM

Pardew said he could have prevented the 2 nd goal . Ok , when a manager is banned from the dug out , they normally communacate via phone or whatever , if that’s the case and he seen problems that might lead to a goal , then why didn’t he get a message to carver to stem the problem ? Again I think he is talking balls , also , that was our 10 th home defeat this season . Has anyone picked up on the fact that 10 home losses must be a record or have we had a worse manager than pardew ??

  • 35 Patoon // Apr 20, 2014 at 4:58 PM

Anybody who still backs Pardew is either blind or knows nothing about football, wer i live i can only attend 2 or 3 games a year but watch every week without fail, why would any manager take off Gosling 2 weeks in a row and leave Ameobi on when Gosling is actually playing well, long ball doesn’t wotk 4 us and hasn’t done since we sold Carroll, Nolan and Barton, we hav absolutely no creativity in our team and Pardew relies on individual brilliance, thats why is hits us so hard when we lose the likes of Cabaye or Remy, our other players just aren’t drilled 2 create chances, look at Southampton and Everton, when they lose a man another steps straight in and they continue on the same way, our set pieces are a joke, completely clueless, this season we beat spurs wer Krul made 13 or 14 saves, we beat Fulham at home wer we wer shit til the last 10 mins when we brought on Remy and Cabaye, and maybe 2 or 3 other games wer we hav been very very lucky, if we take 6 or 9 points off wot we hav we’d b no better off wot we wer last season, just slightly luckier this year thats all, listen 2 that interview, the man needs took b4 a firing squad ffs

  • 36 Laurent Robert 32 // Apr 20, 2014 at 4:58 PM

Alan, remind us why you aren’t on the touchline?

Funny, I seem to remember you standing watching the 6-0 maulling against Liverpool looking lost, and the defeats against Sunderland. Fat lot of good you were standing there scribbling on your notepad.

Jail, it was the Gallowgate Strawb corner that were singing Pardew out. And “it’s never your fault”.

  • 39 FlyingFox // Apr 20, 2014 at 5:01 PM

Ran into a pal of Ashley’s a couple of weeks back who claimed that Gianfranco Zola is currently being lined up as Pardew’s replacement.

  • 40 Jail for Ashley // Apr 20, 2014 at 5:02 PM

Willie McFaul was worse, but he knew it and was a keeper

  • 41 Rotonda heights // Apr 20, 2014 at 5:04 PM

are these interviewers briefed to ask Pardew the softest questions ever!! That guy was drip feeding Pardew ready made excuses!

Very interesting to hear Baines saying that now under Martinez they think about what they are going to do to the opposition, not the other way round, as it was under Moyes. Sound familiar!

  • 42 Laurent Robert 32 // Apr 20, 2014 at 5:04 PM

When we get last minute goals to nick points (and he reckons he doesn’t do that) we were a reaw fret even though we were dog crap, yet we concede and there’s loads of errors and we deserved a draw. Idiot.

  • 43 theartfuldodger // Apr 20, 2014 at 5:04 PM

There will come a time when we all stop analyzing, arguing and complaining.
We will stop throwing stastics around. We wont get angry either cause we will know anger is of no use.
We will watch the match like zombies and have nothing to comment.

He still gets them to aim free kicks and corners to Williamson. Awful.

  • 51 Patoon // Apr 20, 2014 at 5:12 PM

i would love 2 c us gettng a real top young manager who plays modern football but i’d also take Tony Pulis over Pardew any day of the week, as another blogger said earlier Pulis’ teams hav a real reputation as being hard 2 beat, if Pardews teams fall behind at all they just roll over, Pulis plays 2 his player’ strengths, Pardew just hasn’t a f’g clue

  • 52 andrew84 // Apr 20, 2014 at 5:17 PM

So our hero Pards reckons he could have stopped the second goal but fails to explain how.

This man is becoming frightening. His ego goes before him, its always someone else’s fault. And no apology for the fans yet again.

It’s not ‘five defeats’ either Alan. It’s five defeats in a row. We’ve lost a hell of a lot more than five at home this season, the majority of which should have been victories or draws at least.

I’m that disillusioned with NUFC of late that I can’t even bring myself to smile at the thought of Sunderland going down.

More of the sane for us lot next season I’m afraid.

  • 54 Jail for Ashley // Apr 20, 2014 at 5:22 PM

  • 55 Bambams // Apr 20, 2014 at 5:22 PM

I think willie mcfaul at least tried to play football. From memory he spent some money on Andy Thorn, Johm Robertson, John Hendrie and Beseant the keeper. Problem was again from memory Robertson could not score a goal and it never worked.
I would probably put Jack Charlton as my worst manager. The football he played !!!! Rambo Reilly and Tony C !!!!

What’s happened to time4 change . We need them to kick start the protests at the ground . It is obvious we can’t trust or rely on the 52000 that fill the ground each week , the people who if they wanted and had the balls to complain , could make a massive statement to the club on how we feel . It is sad when we have to rely on people outside the ground to kick up a fuss in order to try and change what is happening at our club . Shame on the cowards inside the ground .

  • 59 Bambams // Apr 20, 2014 at 5:30 PM

    Watching the Everton manure match.
Everton play some cracking stuff, so quick from defence to attack. Of course its wrong, should take 45 passes to get over the half way line to allow speedy shola to get in position.

Good luck to Everton. They deserve top 4

  • 60 Big Pappa Cissé // Apr 20, 2014 at 5:38 PM

Hey lads, didn’t you know all Martinez is good for is relegation battles .

Where are all the Martinez haters now then after I was told he wasn’t good enough ? .

Imagine if we brought him in and he actually utilized a wing back system like he has with Everton With Baines & Coleman using Debuchy & Santon .

How he would have had HBA playing out of his skin and going toe to toe with teams like Arsenal & Man U .

    If Only :( . Pardew isn’t fit to lace Roberto’s boots .

  • 61 Big Pappa Cissé // Apr 20, 2014 at 5:40 PM

    Oh and for anyone saying:

I’m going on my holidays for a couple of weeks on a ship where wifi cost £60 for four hours so luckily I’ll be so detached from the footballing world it won’t matter any more, when I get back Ashley will have sold up and Louis Van Gaal will be in talks with Shearer, Ferdinand, Albert and Tino as his backroom staff with KK as director of football.

  • 66 Bambams // Apr 20, 2014 at 5:49 PM

Robertson scored loads north of the border, I remember watching him warm up when I stood on the Gallowgate and he would smack them in from 30+ yards all the time. During games he was sp unlucky but was destined not to score. I am sure he never got one in the toon colours but I might be wrong. Think he went back to Hearts for £700 k which I think was £50 k less than we paid. Just one of those things. Still had a great career though.

Jail, I’m just doing what I can within reason. I’d turn up to marches each week before the game if that was organised, or sit-in after. Whatever it takes, but it must be a general agreement that everyone does it. That is hard to organise and I’m not in that position to be able to do so. I appreciate the ones who do, so I try and help.

Like I say, had that second goal happened before in the first half it would have been abuse most of the game. Some just don’t want to get involved and stay quiet and look at you bemused at why you’re chanting.

In a way, I think some don’t want it to affect the players and they give them a chance to turn it round. Only when tey doesn’t materialise does it turn sour. The ground and atmosphere is by far the poorest I’ve heard in over 20 years. Easily the poorest. It’s not even a comparison. Might as well be a training exercise.

I bet the mackems are gutted they went for Poyet now, we’re turning our noses up at Pullis now, and rightly so, but if we’re about to be relegated next season then there will be a few saying why didn’t we get him, even though it would mean paying a few million to palace in compo and paying him much more than he’s getting there.

tony pulis is a manager that i would certainly take over pardew myself because whilst this owner is still in charge we will see transfer windows continue like they have this season and pulis has shown in his time at palace that he is a very passionate manager.
top managers will just not want to work under ashley and if people say they will come, then kevin keegan is therefore a selfish manager who wants his own way and walks out if he doesn’t get what he wants.

If we were playing in the Northern League you’d look at the lack of heart, lack of pride and lack of commitment from the eleven players sent out wearing our shirts and do something about it. A little more for us all to chew on from And for those that thought Martinez was dross have a look at how Everton is doing these days. He wouldn’t dream of coming to us with this owner though. 👿

Pulis has had a good run at palace and no one can knock that in any way, but the 3 most hideous anti-football managers are Pulis, Allardyce and Pardew and we’ve had 2 of them. A 3rd would finish me off completely as more physical, mid-table hoofball really isn’t that enticing.

  • 93 Jail for Ashley // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:26 PM

Totally agree, I’ve never seen anything like it in thirty years, where 800 Swansea fans can out sing 51K Geordies and they weren’t even that noisy, MAoc, T4C are trying there best to get things organised, but unfortunately I think it’s going to take a relegation to make the masses realise that the guy has no interest in the footballing side of things at SJP, that day with the flyers, there was so many people slating him yet we manage to win and they all got left under seats, the tide was against protest this season just as fixtures, timing and goals have been in Pardews favour.

  • 94 mag // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:26 PM

Pulis has a worse record than Pardew.

  • 95 // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:28 PM

  • 96 Rotonda heights // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:28 PM

all very well slagging off KK but he proved in court Ashley was a liar. KK has more integrity in a little finger than pardew.

  • 97 GeordieTwo // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:29 PM

What I was trying to say was Pardew should be getting far more out of our players than he does Rotonda mate. Just as Pulis got far more out of Palace. Pardew is bloody useless. But with Ashley squatting on the club like Jabba the Hut who would come and be our manager? As it stands next season is looking like a horror show. How can Pardew expect to recover from this string of bollocks going back to all of last season? It’s ridiculous. He should just pack up and leave.

  • 98 mag // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:30 PM you will make a fortune if you can crack that case and remove that stubborn fat out of Toon!

Spot on. Staying away from SJP is the only way to object to the current regime and this btich that calls him self a manager.

  • 100 GeordieTwo // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:32 PM

Pardew’s record with us is starting to look a lot like his record with Charlton. He has a 37% win percentage with us now and dropping quickly. Make that 35% by the end of the season. Then next season relegation. How does that sound NoNuts?

  • 101 yo-yo // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:33 PM

No point changing manager unless we get a 50% win class guy in. Lets aim higher than Pulis or Poyet please. Preferably one who can coach with no new players and the best being sold from under him with no replacement.

  • 103 Rotonda heights // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:34 PM

I think Poyet has done a phenomenal job. they were 8 points adrift when he went there and you couldn’t see where another point, let another win would come from given the really s–t squad he has to work with.

Poyet plays football, doesn’t make endless excuses and given our players would have them playing good to watch attacking football

People getting happy about pulis shows how really really low we have sunk

  • 104 mag // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:36 PM

If Ashley is looking for a wild card as manager, Eddie Howe at Bournemouth a young kid plays good football.

  • 105 toonking // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:39 PM

well if you want us to be both a top team and an exciting team their is only one thing left, well 2 thingsand they are,

1 start acting like an anti ashley rather than an anti pardew because this club is nothing but a shop which ashley can make profit from each and every year. liverpool didn’t sell suaez they extended his contract, everton lost fellani but then made sure baines was still with them and he will be with them again next year, city never won a trophy for 50 years but once the got money to spend they have turned into a top 4 team and we will see just how tight everton are in september because if they anything like newcastle then they will only have 1 player bought and will also sell baines in january.

if you don’t want to turn your back on ashley then their is only one other option
2 get the FA to start getting the england academies running as good as those in germany and spain because that way clubs will not need to spend money as they have more decent players like armstrong coming through the academies and not as many rangers, saylor, vuckic or ferguson.

  • 106 Jail for Ashley // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:40 PM

Mashers might paper over the cracks and release 20M in the summer, he released 19M a few years ago although Demba Ba was sold as well, e recovered from that slump, but you’re right, how does the brown nosed/tongued lothario recover from this one, it’s impossible to guess, personal I can’t see it, the last time was an adrenalin shot that just seen us through, this time there needs to be some serious corrective surgery and I think far too much damage has been done.

  • 107 GeordieTwo // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:41 PM

Nobody’s really happy about Pulis Rotonda mate! Stoke weren’t exactly a joy to watch. But look at what we’re getting with Pardew. At least Pulis could organize a corner or a free kick. What have we had with Pardew in terms of either in his time with us? There are middle school football coaches who could have done better.

  • 108 mag // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:43 PM

  • 109 GeordieTwo // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:44 PM

Yes NoNuts will probably release 20M in the summer Jail mate. The 20M he got for Cabaye. In other words he’ll spend none of the TV money and he’ll make a handsome profit from the absolute swill that we watch. And 51K show up for that? They must be mad surely. 👿

You think a manager with a 50% winning rate will come work for Ashley yo-yo mate? A manager like that will have better things to do with his time. And he might actually want a decent wage. No, we’ll get some more dross if NoNuts actually does sack Pardew at some point. Think Curbishley. Think some twat that Ashley met in a pub. That’s where we’re headed.

  • 113 GeordieTwo // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:51 PM

My favourite poster yesterday had a bit of a dig at me because I attended the Swansea game, I know I shouldn’t go, but nobody seems to be taking a blind bit of notice as to our predicament, the ground has been full all season despite the dross on show, I can only hope that the season ticket cancellations are true and we see an impact next year, otherwise it really is a lost cause.

  • 117 GeordieTwo // Apr 20, 2014 at 6:56 PM

Recent phone call intercept from Mike to Joe:
“Joe is that you mate? How is Wee Winkie’s? Anyway the reason I’m calling is that Alan’s having a spot of bother with the club. Yes, I know it’s hard to believe Joe after you set us up so nicely in the last 2 windows. Anyway Joe are you doing anything next season? Possibly you could step in for Alan? He looks like he needs a very long holiday to me. Yes Joe you’ll get the usual wage, 200 quid a week plus any left over meat pies. So it’s settled then Joe you’re back as manager. Beautiful.”

i say kevin keegan walked out the club and if it was not just a selfish attitude then why would other quality managers come.
i do want pardew out but i way ashley gone first.

Might as well hold on to the devil we know then.
I’m sure we could get an up and coming manager with lower league experience and a decent win % . Poyet has 43% – so hardly an upgrade by anybody’s standards.

Agree problems in recruiting decent manager but even more in recruiting decent players with a no ambition policy of mid table mediocrity. Stuffed either way with Mash

  • 122 Himanshu Dhingra // Apr 20, 2014 at 7:02 PM

I think a lot of you have the wrong idea about wor Ashley. He’s not a nasty bit of fungus growing under your toenails. I just wanted to correct that impression some of you had.

  • 124 Rotonda heights // Apr 20, 2014 at 7:04 PM

hear what you’re saying but surely someone could advise Ash that there are Pochettino / Laudrup / Martinez / Sean Dyche types out there.

We’ve had allardyce and pardew with their dark age football and Pulis has had a good run with palace but even roeder got us europe one year and tbf a honey badger would have more imaginative free kicks than Pardew.

And nothing else but a piss-up to worry about, except getting down to Collingwood Street by eleven to make sure “Wor Lass” wasn’t jumping into a taxi to the Hilton with someone she shouldna been.
The matchday experience. And you still think it is about football?

no one can belittle pulis’ efforts at palace as they looked gone for all money, but for years I felt sorry for stoke fans and they got rid because they were fed up with hoof ball, long grass left on the pitch and the playing area narrowed etc .

Ash is maybe worried that pardew couldn’t keep us mid table forever and wants a safer pair of hands to guarantee that’s exactly where we stay, no risk involved.

  • 156 Rotonda heights // Apr 20, 2014 at 7:45 PM

    Yo yo

that one season we had a perfect storm of extenuating factors the likes of which which would probably never be seen again.

Poor old Raylor getting injured finally let Ben Arfa in and Pardew had to accommodate him, Cisse and Ba in a potent front 3 which worked brilliantly well for 6 matches.

Those front scored brilliant individual goals, not team goals and we got a massive slice of luck with decisions while Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs all had off seasons.
Those 6 games apart in the 433 we were pretty horrible to watch just grinding out 1-0’s.

We have a way better squad than Sunderland and players like Ben Arfa, Marveaux, MYM, Obertan etc would not be blamed, marginalised and frozen out because the manager is unable to coach, improve and develop them.

  • 157 Transfer Sage // Apr 20, 2014 at 7:48 PM

I think swansea work it best…they picked a man to run the club (Jenkins) who has a style they want to play. Then hires only managers who play that type of football….so obviously when replacing a manager he will want his own men in but it can be done slowly as the players the have already can cope with that type of football.

Unfortunately there seems to be no such planning at newcastle.

  • 161 Transfer Sage // Apr 20, 2014 at 7:53 PM

I agree somewhat with your assessment of the 5th placed year, but i don’t think it was luck.

We had players, 4 to be exact, cabaye, cisse, ba and ben arfa all capable of individual goals/brilliance so by playing them in was bound to happen that they would do something and we’d get goals. We also have a very good shot stopper in goal so his saves were to be expected by his high level.

The problem comes when we miss those individuals as there is no plan to create chances so we struggle now.

  • 162 Transfer Sage // Apr 20, 2014 at 7:55 PM

I don’t think pulis plays boring football myself….I think it is direct but with stoke, and now palace, he does work it well through midfield to get it wide and run at fullbacks with pace to cross the ball. It might not be technical and pretty like liverpool or bayern munich but it is still exciting as something is always happening.

Not saying I want pulis, rather have a martinez/rogers style to watch every week, but those two have much better first 11’s and squads.

Pulis actually plays with much more style than pardew. He uses wingers as well as a target man, flying down both flanks with pace or going long.

We just tap it around the back, then get to midfield and seeing as we have no creative player can only continue to pass sideways until we either lose the ball or lump it long.

I agree…look at the mackems. players like johnson, ki, giacharini, borini are all capable of playing some of the technical stuff, not too a very high level but can manager it.

But poyet has manager to implement that style and create chances even with the likes of cattermole in the side.

Not saying he is doing great of course not, but they at least try to play and manage to creat chances, just haven’t really had a good enough forward to score them.

See those white hankerchiefs are out for the Barca manager.

  • 192 Graeme // Apr 20, 2014 at 9:14 PM

HD @ 185 – hopefully he will be stoned, pelted with rotten fruit at the very least!!

  • 193 valle // Apr 20, 2014 at 9:18 PM

What is Pardew talking about period…

  • 194 Jail for Ashley // Apr 20, 2014 at 9:21 PM

It swings and roundabouts, look at Steve Bruce, he managed to keep Wigan comfortable but Martinez had them nearly relegated every season before managing it, SBR wanted Bruce to take over then he went and failed miserably at the stadium of plight, Christian Gross and Juan Ramos were brilliant at their respective clubs before joining Spurs, now that we are financially sound and are as stable as ever why not get a top manager in.

  • 195 Laurent Robert 32 // Apr 20, 2014 at 9:21 PM

“Even Messi is missing very scorable chances”.

What a surprise. Poorer team form, strikers are limited. Even the great man.

Cisse will score more under a better manager. He hasn’t turned rubbish overnight from being a regular scorer throughout his career.

  • 196 Jail for Ashley // Apr 20, 2014 at 9:22 PM

Have you read the header ?

  • 197 toon kk // Apr 20, 2014 at 9:28 PM

I think Pardew has lost the dressing room as well as the plot.

  • 198 Graeme // Apr 20, 2014 at 9:32 PM

Jail, I read it earlier – very blunt, to the point, completely correct.
Pardew is a muppet puppet. Unfortunately, Jabba thinks he’s done a splendid job, so is unlikely to sack him any time soon!!

  • 199 Jail for Ashley // Apr 20, 2014 at 9:34 PM

I’m glad I’m not the only one not bothered if that goal had of went in or not !

  • 200 Graeme // Apr 20, 2014 at 9:36 PM

Now this is something far more deserving of our support than Jabba, thats for sure.

  • 201 AMEOBI // Apr 20, 2014 at 9:38 PM

Anyone remember me saying Gosling was a powerhouse in training a few weeks ago, like I stated he’s been the best player in training..

I don’t understand the hate he receives.

    *do = so

  • 204 toon kk // Apr 20, 2014 at 9:48 PM

Hate to think we’d lose all our remaining games but I’d take it if it meant th back of Pardew.
Trouble is MA would fill the vacancy with his own dodgy choice of pal, not who would take us forward that may cost him money.

  • 205 BandB // Apr 20, 2014 at 9:52 PM

All of a sudden I am starting to read opinions that Pardew and Ashley are two sides of the same grubby coin.
Even Niall and Biffa have caught up.
    Eeee, you lads!
    Yer dead clever. like!

  • 206 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // Apr 20, 2014 at 9:53 PM

…well this blog is dead! Until tomorrow then 😉

  • 209 clinath@ed // Apr 20, 2014 at 10:21 PM

One day someone WILL replace Pardew, so why believe no one can?

  • 210 toon22 // Apr 20, 2014 at 10:31 PM

I really hope upon hope they actually deploy that Wonga flag.
How far into the crowd do you think it will make???

  • 211 welshgeordie9 // Apr 20, 2014 at 10:51 PM

Now Tim Sherwood is being linked

  • 212 welshgeordie9 // Apr 20, 2014 at 10:53 PM

You’re having a laugh who’s next Joey Barton

    That’s not a bad idea

  • 213 welshgeordie9 // Apr 20, 2014 at 11:00 PM

So according to one of the papers Ashley is away on his holidays that’s nice of him with all the crap that’s going on.

    Dear me

  • 214 jimmysmith // Apr 20, 2014 at 11:00 PM

Surely if Pardew was in on the Ashley ” piss take” he’d be on far more money. Struggling to buy that one at face value.

My own stretch of a theory is essentially that Ashley doesn’t know how to run a successful football club, but does know when and where to invest money, and he hates losing it. He basically doesn’t know enough about football to appoint well and so doesn’t trust anyone at the club to spend adroitly.

  • 215 yo-yo // Apr 20, 2014 at 11:02 PM

Doesn’t really answer the questions – but then you never were going to give Pardew any credit at all – ever.

Yes some truth in that – be interesting to see Everton this time next year. If Martinez can lead them to say semis in Europe and maintain top 6 in the league, then he’ll really have established himself. The Swans have had a potentially great manager basically repeat what we did with the 5th finish, though with more ‘style’ but leave due to clashes with Jenkins before he could prove himself. – difficult to say if Laudrup can be a great manager as he never stays more than 2 seasons since Brondby days. He seems to suffer from second season syndrome – don’t know enough about his personality to say what it is that is holding him back – incredible arrogance or what..

Though incredible self confidence / arrogance is the only thing holding Pardew up it seems. He sure ain’t ridin high on his aim to get the Toon to be more consistent ( in a good way that is)

  • 216 Laurent Robert 32 // Apr 20, 2014 at 11:03 PM

Jail, the record breaker one on Yeah, I’ve just read the piece.

  • 217 lesh // Apr 20, 2014 at 11:27 PM

    Breaking news….

Ashley lines up Mickey Mouse as Director of Football. Pardew reported happy with that – “I tell Mickey who I want and Mickey gets them. He’ll fit in well”

  • 218 lesh // Apr 20, 2014 at 11:29 PM

And if Mickey Mouse completes a year with the club, he’ll be presented with a watch, a Mike Ashley watch!

  • 219 jimmysmith // Apr 21, 2014 at 12:07 AM

I don’t want Pardew sacked despite all this, because the club is now apparently finally in a position to spend and Pardew has 3 years learning the ropes of an incredibly precarious job. I’m not convinced anyone Ashley could or would appoint would do any better.

Invest the money that is apparently now there in some decent players to provide the necessary quality and depth and some fresh coaching ideas and let Pardew have at it entirely well equipped for the first time. I suppose that is on the cards, if perhaps unlikely.
