Before he signed on at Manchester United last summer, we always thought that David Moyes would be the perfect Newcastle manager – because he had a great record with Everton, and Everton didn’t have the money that Newcastle had to spend on players.
David Moyes this season
However, it’s been a bad year for David Moyes, and today Sky Sports news is reporting they understand that Moyes will be fired within a day – and usually when they go out with this rather delicate information – they get it right.
And the Manchester club has refused to comment on the rumors going around that Moyes will be fired – and after the defeat at Moyes’ former club Everton – United might now even qualify for the Europa League for next season – they are 6 points behind 6th placed Tottenham with a game in hand.
It was always going to be difficult for anybody to replace Sir Alex Ferguson – and let’s be clear – Manchester United are never going to be as successful as they were under Alex Ferguson – that’s almost an impossibility.
And now the question is – if Moyes is fired will Mike Ashley make a move to bring David Moyes to Newcastle?
Of course his stature has dropped this season – but Newcastle United is an easier club to manage than Manchester United – especially in the first season after Alex Ferguson retired.
Moyes’ record at Goodison was that he had 9 top 10 finishes and 5 top 6 finishes, from 11 full seasons with the Blues, and European qualification was achieved four times in five seasons between 2004 and 2009.
And David will have something to prove now – big time – so here’s an experienced manager who has proved he can manage a side with limited resources into the top six fairly regularly in the Premier League.
And if Pardew goes, there’s just no way the Newcastle owner is going to give the job to somebody who has no record in the Premier League – that could be very risky.
What do you think?

Comment #201Dalglish spent that money though and Rodgers doesn’t use them, apart from Henderson, so it doesn’t really matter about millions as he’s hardly benefitting from them as they aren’t even in the squad.
If you can’t see Rodgers has developed those players, Manx, I think you’ve got to watch patterns of play more.
James McCarthy’s favourite player by the way, Henderson.

Comment #205Ashley may spend though, hopefully on coaches and infrastrure and a few decent players and from there the start of a new culture to take root and develop. He surely can’t be happy to settle for this as time pases. But with what has gone on that seems real pie in the sky stuff, but I think that’s what we definitely need. The difference for example between the club cultures of say Liverpool and Newcastle is quite embarrassing.

Comment #206laurent i’m not saying he’s not done a fantastic job but lets face it he’s got the hottest strike force in europe
wat i am saying is that statement is totally wrong and very easy to say in his position! and you will only hear that statement from anyone when they are doing well!
