The Telegraph is reporting today that source close to Newcastle owner Mike Ashley have told them he is not happy with Newcastle’s form this year – and the results have taken a turn for the worse in 2014.
Mike Ashley – alarmed at results
We have lost 13 of the last 18 games and have failed to score in 12 of them – and those are terrible results in anybody’s book.
Mike Ashley has met with Alan Pardew and Lee Charnley a couple of times about summer transfers, but they would likely go ahead whoever the new manager is, and Pardew will need to persuade Mike Ashley at the end of the season he is still the right person for the job.
And news that Mike Ashley tried to recruit David Moyes form Everton twice, and he holds the former Manchester United manager in the highest regard.
It turns out he tried to sign Moyes after Kevin Keegan left in 2008, and then again after Chris Hughton was surprisingly fired in December of 2010.
Both times Davide Moyes did not want to leave Everton, but things are different now, and with Ashley funding a big transfer drive this summer with some big money available to spend – if Newcastle did go after Moyes, they could persuade the Glaswegian to sign on at Newcastle.
So there;s two things – one is that Mike Ashley is alarmed at the Newcastle results this year, and that’s hardly surprising, but the other is that he is a long-term fan of Davide Moyes.
Things could be happening behind the scenes, and it makes the final three games of the season for Newcastle very important to Alan Pardew, that;s for sure.
But he already knows that.
What do you think?

Comment #5Can’t stand this bloke, I don’t even believe he is surprised to be honest.
What Mike? You mean you never thought by selling Cabaye we wouldn’t be worse off?
We were fifth in November!
God help us.

Comment #6“We’ve looked at a couple things last week that might be opportunities for us,” Pardew told the Gazette. “And we also looked at a couple players for the summer.
“That’s an area we need to get to, but we’ll be in a good position in the summer, I think. But we need to get there first.”
He thinks? My god the man hasn’t got a clue what’s happening so what hope do we as fan’s have lol!
A couple of player’s for the summer?
And there it is folk’s, the inevitable parsnip backtracking on the amount of transfers and it isn’t even summer yet!
I can’t wait till he says we have enough quality and depth at the club to cope
The man is a compulsive liar who’s delusions feed his ever increasing ego, funnily enough just like the owner

Comment #7I think he wants Shola kept on because he dosn’t think we will get two strikers in over the Summer.
He knows these above him only to well, he should do, they have humiliated him enough.

Comment #10This and the Shola story, is exactly the spin you’d predict.
It is alright telling the fans you are alarmed Mike.
But will the alarm ever go off?
You were alarmed last summer, remember. Now…….how did that go?
Joe, Joe….whatsisname? Eee, you forget……..
As for Shola’s “jibe”.
Local lad and fan Shola suddenly thinks out loud what the fans “must be thinking.”
Except that Shola is a Pardew loyalist and has always been very useful for this kind of job.
I bet Mike is furious. Not.
Pardew himself adopted this technique towards the end of last season. It conveys the impression that within the camp, hearts are bleeding for the fans and hard questions are being asked.
Like they were last summer?

Comment #11Like the idea of Steve Bruce as manager plus lee Clarke as assistant as I’m convinced he will leave birmingham in the summer. With carver we could have a match made in heaven.
Sorry Pardew but your time is up, you can’t live on your top five finish for ever. Move over and give somebody else a chance.

Comment #12Always the same with pardew, we need players, we’re in a good position, we’re in for them, we couldn’t get them over the line, happy with what I’ve got to were stronger than last year! The man never ceases to surprise me with the shit that comes from his mouth!
Rather he just said I’ve got to work with what i’ve got because ashleys water tight although I’m a poor manager and cant motivate and organise the players. Pardew out!

Everton had Lukaku out for nearly 3 months. A good manager, ie a Martinez doesn’t spectacularly collapse over losing 1 player !!
You have to be a pretty s—-e manager to let that happen, especially as Cabaye played in 5 losing games in a 7 match sequence just before he left.
Pardew had people who wanted to go to the WC so motivation back in Jan should never have been an issue
It was Pardew’s fault to break up the Willo and MYM partnership and to banish and ostracise any technical playmakers with flair.
Ben Arfa is played in short cameos out of position and is expected to track back more than create, while Marveaux with more assists than Cabaye is cold shouldered and Pardew wonders why we haven’t scored in 12 out of 16 games. SHOCKING STATS in anyone ‘s books!
Our GD with Pardew as at his other clubs has always been poor.

Pardew has bleated on for weeks that he can’t influence the game from the stands blah blah blah blah.
Someone needs to grip hold of him and remind him two things
Firstly – The reason he is in the stands is his own bloody fault because he can’t keep his head to himself.
And secondly – This run of form has been going on for some time, we had an upturn at the start of the season but we have reverted to type and are now mirroring the side we were last season.
Stop the excuses Alan and simply walk away

Pardew is a mediocre manager nothing more nothing less.
He is built to keep a team in mid-table, he needs those quality players to choose from. If he hasn’t got them to choose from he will slip, that’s what mediocre managers do. Enough wins, and plenty losses to go with it.
I don’t think anyone has said he is anymore than mediocre have they?
What I do know though, is if we had Remy and Cabaye playing week in week out every week since January that mass of points we have would be more and we wouldn’t be on this run right now. So i’d have to disagree with your comment, Remy and Cabaye were instrumental with us being in fifth in November. We do not have the quality to come in and replace those players. This is how i see it.
I don’t know how you feel about our squad of players as a whole, but I do not buy into the notion we have a great squad. I’ll be brutally honest and say they are either shi*e and would be mid-table anyway regardless of the manager or they are too inexperienced at this point in time. (The youngins).
I can’t see any manager taking us into the top 6-8 with this squad as it is. I can’t see at all.
The problem is with a lack of investment and ambition for me. There is a problem with the quality in depth, it’s been that way since Pardew arrived. And also there is a problem letting are top players go often and not suitably replacing them at the correct times. This sets us back a canny distance each season.
Just my two cents.

Comment #15Average…. I think Ashley does have concerns about our recent form.
We were 5th before Christmas and may even end up 11th. Bearing in mind that each placing is worth £2m in prize money, Ashley would see that as an income drop of £12m and wouldn’t be happy.
However, he might just realise that flogging Cabaye for £20m, making a profit of £15m on the player, has actually resulted in that profit being substantially reduced and left him with a gain of £3m on that sale.
Now if that doesn’t convince him that holding player sales isn’t very bright.
But, we’ll never know what goes on in Ashley’s head will we.

Comment #16NUFC have been reduced to being cannon fodder due to the lack of back bone and any distinctive game plan. No doubt Pardew will point to losing Cabaye, who identified that despite the influx of his compatriots that NUFC were still way off achieving anything. Now we suspect other players will be following his lead and looking for pastures with prospects.
The fixation of maintaining a Premier League status at the expense of cup competitions and with the minimum of expense, seems to be the ethos perpetuated about NUFC. This would indicate Ashley does not have the desire to generate a positive image of the club, which would ideally attract the young quality players that he intends to bring in cheap and sell for a profit.
The policy of selling the most improved players has left the club without the quality and authority that is needed on the pitch to compete in the PL. The amount of profits created has been countered by the loss in other revenues and has left the club reliant on the TV money. Ashley needs to seriously consider the policy that he is following before he decides on his manager, as the capacity of the club to incorporate a whole stack load of new young recruits has been diminished and resembles a crater field on the pitch.

Comment #17Ashley is clueless when it comes to football, He has not spent a penny in two years, sold our best player (didn’t replace him) put an absolute idiot (Kinnear) in charge of transfers and has brought nothing but bad press and shame to this once great football club the sooner he is gone the better, All this nonsense about wanting new players and him saying he is “alarmed” is all fabricated to make people renew there season tickets which they probably will.

Comment #18There is another good article in the Daily Mail over Mr Ashleys’ running of Sports Direct and the shareholders vetoing his “bonus”.
It seems the financial section of the papers are taking a closer interest in him, not just the sports pages. Also, the photo accompanying the piece has him with a NUFC scarf round his neck.
Any more failings football wise will be laid very squarely at his door and not just by the writers of the back pages.
I wonder if this will focus his attention more closely in the coming weeks and months.
