Alan Pardew is surprisingly the Premier League’s second longest serving manager, after being in the job at Newcastle United for three years and five months, and that’s the longest anybody has served as a Newcastle manager since Sir Bobby Robson managed the club for five years from 1999 through 2004.
Alan Pardew – under pressure
It seems that Newcastle’s transfer plans for this summer are already being executed, and in the last week we’ve been linked with some very decent players.
Alan Pardew seems to be looking forward to the summer transfer window, but he admits he has other things on his plate at the moment.
Maybe one of those is to somehow stop a five game losing streak in the Premier League, and that’s the very first time that’s ever happened at Newcastle United.
With the next game being at the Emirates, and Arsenal now playing well with some top players back, that streak could extend to six games next Monday night. đ
This is what the Newcastle manager has said in the Shields Gazette today:
âWeâve looked at a couple of things last week that might be opportunities for us,â âAnd we also looked at a couple of players for the summer.”
âThatâs an area we need to get to, but weâll be in a good position in the summer, I think. But we need to get there first.â
Newcastle need to get there first and so does Alan Pardew, and the last three games of the season could well decide whether Alan keeps his job at the club.
To be fair to the Newcastle manager, there are some extenuating circumstances as to why Newcastle are in this position.
No permanent players have been signed since we brought in the five Frenchmen sixteen months ago to help avoid relegation, and you always need to keep buying players to improve the side.
Notice how the Liverpool owners are making big money available this summer to Brendan Rodgers, after Liverpool could win the Premier League for the first time ever.
That’s the exact right thing to do – invest and build when you are doing well, and it contrasts to what Newcastle did after we finished 5th in 2012 – we brought in one player – Vurnon Anita.
With the results over the last five games, and especially the last minute win by Swansea last time out, the final three games of the season are now absolutely vital, and decent results are needed if Alan Pardew is to continue to lead Newcastle.
But it’s hard to see how we can take anything from the Emirates and at Anfield in two of the last three games. đ

Comment #2Always the same with pardew, we need players, weâre in a good position, weâre in for them, we couldnât get them over the line, happy with what Iâve got to were stronger than last year! The man never ceases to surprise me with the shit that comes from his mouth!
Rather he just said Iâve got to work with what iâve got because ashleys water tight although Iâm a poor manager and cant motivate and organise the players. Pardew out!

Comment #5So sad he is hardly the second longest serving manager on merit. I don’t even want to hear him talking about planning for next season.
Prodigy
Everton had Lukaku out for nearly 3 months. A good manager, ie a Martinez doesnât spectacularly collapse over losing 1 player !!
You have to be a pretty sâ-e manager to let that happen, especially as Cabaye played in 5 losing games in a 7 match sequence just before he left.
Pardew had people who wanted to go to the WC so motivation back in Jan should never have been an issue
It was Pardewâs fault to break up the Willo and MYM partnership and to banish and ostracise any technical playmakers with flair.
Ben Arfa is played in short cameos out of position and is expected to track back more than create, while Marveaux with more assists than Cabaye is cold shouldered and Pardew wonders why we havenât scored in 12 out of 16 games. SHOCKING STATS in anyone âs books!
Our GD with Pardew as at his other clubs has always been poor.

Pardew has bleated on for weeks that he canât influence the game from the stands blah blah blah blah.
Someone needs to grip hold of him and remind him two things
Firstly â The reason he is in the stands is his own bloody fault because he canât keep his head to himself.
And secondly â This run of form has been going on for some time, we had an upturn at the start of the season but we have reverted to type and are now mirroring the side we were last season.
Stop the excuses Alan and simply walk away

Comment #6Taxiiiiiiiii! Taxi for Pardew! Would love it if someone sent a Taxi round for Pards round Benton, in front of all the plyrs…..
Tell you what if I was a Taxi driver I’d do it meself! lol
Time for AP to go. I can sympathise with him to an extent with the loss of Cabaye etc. But to be heavily reliant on such a few plyrs is a joke! Where’s plan “B”, I don’t think he’s got one. Furthermore we loose our most creative players and yet HBA and Marveaux hardly feature…..instead we use Dan F’ing Gosling…..OMG AP is a tool!

Comment #7Aston Villa will be in a good position in the summer too. Second in the division in alphabetical order.
It’s always jam tomorrow with this lot.
“Judge me at the end of the season.”
“Judge me when the transfer window closes.”
“Trust me, we will replace Carroll.”
“Trust me, we will replace Cabaye.”
I may have paraphrased a bit, however my dad always told me never to trust anyone who said “Trust me.”
At least I think he said that, or did he say; ” Trust me, don’t trust anyone.” Cannot remember, anyway I don’t trust anyone who says trust me.

Comment #8Don’t put much on those last 3 games. We’re guaranteed to lose 2 of them.
I sincerely hope the position we’re in in the summer is one where Pardew isn’t managing this club.

Comment #9“If you haven’t got anything good to say don’t say anything at all”
Pardew could do with having that tattooed on his inner arm to remind himself.
He spouts utter crap at times….actually most of the time

Comment #10Hi guys … I don’t even know what to say about the state my beloved club is in. One thing I can tell you guys is as I’m in south africa, I watch most of newcastle’s games, but with all the protests, banners and booeing at the end of the game, I can tell you it doesn’t work, because the tv cameras never show that! I just get to hear about THAT THERE WAS BANNERs!!! The comentators will just mention it by the way! This is a dificult situation because if I was there I don’t know what I would do. I finally saved up enough money to come to St James park and watch the team live. But I can’t see me doing that anytime soon! That will just be a waste of a lot of money (being from SA). So I will see what happens next season, what players we get if any! New manager (I hope). Maybe even a new owner (praying).

Comment #11There’s always extenuating circumstances to all failure. Nearly all gamblers lose, but none blame themselves, or their choices. It’s always down to bad luck, penalties, sendings offs, injuries. We can’t excuse Pardew forever because of Ashley. He was a crap containing manager when we got him and nothings changed. Bobby Robson would still have excelled with this squad, so would Rodgers, Mourinho, or Rangnick.
Bobby would have HBA scoring for fun. Cisse would still be a striker and not a hard working honest player who covers the channels. Shola would be Shola. Armstrong, Bigi, Campbell, Vuckic, Tavernier, & Haidara would all be pushing for starts and not be demoralised knowing they’ll never get picked no matter what they do and how bad the favourites play. The fact is when you play to restrict other teams older more experienced players are better able to follow these instructions whereas young players are impulsive and can often attack against orders to defend. I remember Haidara looking our best player when liverpool beat us 6-0 and Pards criticised him for wanting to get forward. Pardew is too afraid to play young players.
