This Could Be Newcastle’s Goalkeeper Next Season

10:37 pm, Thursday, April 24th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 47 Comments

Newcastle were linked with Dutch U21 International goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet last summer, and at that time Newcastle were supposed to have bid £2M for the Dutchman who has since become the number one goalkeeper at PSV.

jeroen zoet

Jeroen Zoet – Dutch U21 Goalkeeper

Zoet has played 35 times for PSV this season, and has been called up for the full Dutch squad. but has yet to be capped at the full level for his country but has 21 caps at the U21 level.

It seems that Newcastle may let Tim Krul leave in the summer if a club comes ion with the £10M asking price, and it seems also that Krul may want to leave the club he joined back in the summer of 2005 when he was 17.

Newcastle are looking for a goalkeeper and we’ve already been linked with former Academy graduate Fraser Forster, whom we let go to Celtic for a £2M fee two years ago.

So it’s hardly surprising that Newcastle are again watching Zoet, with a view to signing the 23 year-old should 26 year-old Krul leave the Tyneside club in the summer.

AC Milan are one of the clubs who have been linked with Krul, and he will leave Newcastle in the summer, but only if Mike Ashley’s selling price of £10M is met.

Tuttomercato are reporting that Newcastle are again interested in the 6’2″ goalkeeper who was on loan for two seasons at RKC Waalwijk, where he played 77 times for the Eredivisie side.

Zoet has been impressive in this his first full season as the PSV number one.

There seem to be a lot of players heading out of the door at Newcastle this summer.

Comments welcome.

    Repost for Transfer Sage:

    Transfer Sage

Mate its been quiet a while, but there was a big major bust up happening in a meeting which took place last summer.

Ashley invited Llambias, Carr, Pardew and Joe Kinnear together to talk about what’s planned. Llambias and Graham Carr was angry but Pardew was supporting Kinnear. This was taken place at his yacht I cannot remember the location quiet briefly though.

There was a bust up already before the meeting was held many times between Pardew and Graham Carr which was also reported by a credential journalist.

Mate I honestly deep down think Mike Ashley is trying to fix the wrong doings and I think a good manager will be hired.

He has joined the boardroom to interact more into the ongoings of the club and the main problems.

The people that say he’s gone in for the extra money, seriously? he’s a billionaire, he owns the club. If he wanted money he would just take it out but he’s making the cash and advertising SportsDirect at the same time.

  • 2 TurkishFan101 // Apr 24, 2014 at 10:43 PM

In no way I am defending Mike Ashley here, You have seen my previous posts of how much I hate him.

But its time for him to prove to us what is going on with the club and what direction it is going.

As I said, him joining the boardroom should give a massive clue onto how he wants to be more directly involved.

Some of you are rather strange

Come on here for most of the day and spend all of it arguing about whether pardew is crap or mediocre, average or slightly good then the next day the same all over again with people you don’t even know. What exactly is this doing for you? what you getting out of this? reciting the same arguments again and again, reaching the same conclusions again and again whatever the facts, it’s all bit strange

If Newcastle did go for Moyes, after he failed so summararily at a club so use to success and so desparate for it to continue, I would say no one should need any more encouragement to imagine Ashley is all about just staying in the league.

Moyes is the quintessential upper mid table EPL manager, good with a budget and that’s all she wrote as things are.

    Turkish 101 @ 1 & 2
It sounds plausible, Lambsarse and Carr were completely pissed off with Joking Ear. Lambsarse resigned and walked, we all know it. Reports said Carr resigned at least twice over Joke’s actions and it took direct action by MA to stop Carr walking away.

Wether that will result in MA working with Carr to bring in the players we so desperately need remains to be seen. Apart from advising what he thinks is needed, Pardew, as usual, will have very little input!!

Will be interesting to see what happens, but, on past performances, I fear the worst for next season!!!

Fray Bentos. Put yer caps lock on, can’t hear ya, I’m corned beef!!

On thread, here we go, we’ll be ‘watching Zoet, with a view to signing the 23 year-old should 26 year-old Krul leave the Tyneside club in the summer’.

If Krul goes in the summer? It’s odds on and we should sign Zoet up anyway, before his fee goes up!

    Will these people ever learn?

Pardew wants to field two goalies next year to stop the goals going in

  • 9 Graeme // Apr 25, 2014 at 12:00 AM

Charlietoon, with 2 keepers, 4 at the back, 4 in mid field, 3 up top, he may just keep us in the Prem!! lol

Is it my web connection going down or are posters nicely tucked up in bed after the witching hour?

  • 12 Blofal // Apr 25, 2014 at 1:48 AM

Wouldn’t it be ideal that instead of one keeper rotting away on the bench you have 2 in for keepers and rotate them?

Avoids injuries and keeps both in form. Pardew doesn’t do this… he runs his first team into the ground and then complains he hasn’t got any depth when fringe players don’t just slot in.

I mean I know we have no depth but we have more thsn Pardew has been able to show.

Watching recent games i can honestly say that I think that Tim’s confidents has suffer over the last half of the season and maybe it’s time for him to go to fresher pastures. Some of his decision in previous matches have often resulted in gifting the other team an easy goal or two. I believe the last time he played with such sky high confidents truly was against the Spurs.

Believe me it hurts to say that I think we need a new number one goal keeper because i think Tim has been wonderful in goal.

  • 14 nufckiwi // Apr 25, 2014 at 4:55 AM

If we need a new keeper go for Forster! should have been no2 not Elliot. Whilst we are at it get some bargins in Caulker, ince, gomis, Redmond, colbeck, Johnson ( yes they may be mackems but decent ones) Lets get loan players like Sinclair, rodwell players who won’t get a look in at man city and bring back Ba. Even try for Carrick ( not in our transfer policy) but get geordies and Englishmen who will understand our history and play for it not just the money.

…and they run the club as such!

    Turkish Fan,

Excuse me if I have been misled, but I understand you are in your first your studying at university. Congratulations on that.
Say I want to say how grateful I am that you are taking so much time out of your studies (at this important time of year) to keep us up to speed.
In your first year in the adult world, and away from home too, it is impressive that you can still give us the skinny on classified conversations during hush-hush meetings on a billionaires yacht somewhere in the Mediterranean.
Perhaps with contacts like those, it is hardly worth the effort of study?

  • 17 firebug666 // Apr 25, 2014 at 7:10 AM

    pmsl @ BandB

At the end of the day our club has little knowledge of what they will do next, Pardrew spouts one thing, Carr tells us something else and the club something different again. If they can’t all come up with the same strategy or work on the same wavelength how can anyone say what is planned for the summer.

I would love a new and better manager, and 7 to 10 new players in, but just don’t see it happening.

I “think” we will be lucky to get two players in as my guess would be that the team will be beefed up with the players returning from loan. God help us next season.

Actually, I think we’d be best hiring a band of Somalian pirates with promises of whale blubber for payment!

Do they still hunt whale’s? Never mind they’ll fall for it especially when they see its huge girth

It may have escaped your attention that this is a fans forum and the current hot topic is we’ve lost 5 games in a row and are and have been in freefall for a long time, with seemingly little being done to address and arrest our dramatic decline as per last season.

Recent events at Manu have drawn parallels and concentrated our minds to and on our own predicament and scenario.

If you want to discuss ongoing world events other than what’s currently happening at SJP I would suggest this perhaps is not the website for you.

Online is the bait! We’ll be thrown in the hold, put in chains, sailed to Shenzen Province and forced to stitch 500 Million pairs of trainers, tracksuits and hand inspect 3 Billion Golf Balls to get a new striker this summer.

There will be no lunch Break and we ‘ll never know when we come home.

    Ahhh, Jesper… Godmorgen :D
and yes, our illustrious owner and his troops haven’t yet mastered the art of contingency planning. Hopeless.

And it’s good to see that BandB’s offering wise counsel to Turkish who’s tearing himself away from his studies to share with us his insight into AshleyWorld.

Oh how comforting it is to know that if anyone needs support, that it’s available on this site, at any time, day or night.

The whale would do that? Of course he would! This is why I intend to employ the pirates to do the dirty work and in the process absolve us of any wrongdoing.
If they get captured and do indeed get “employed” by SD then I’m pretty sure they’d be fairly happy with the terms of their zero hour contracts and atrocious rate of pay, plus the’re hands would no doubt be toughened through years of sailing so 3 billion golf balls is nay bother ;)

  • 37 Santon03 // Apr 25, 2014 at 8:30 AM

    Regarding new candidates for manager
Moyes, Laudrup, DiMatteo, Pullis, even Mcclaren, they all have few things in common is that they have worked with teams that have limited budget before and they didn’t ask for mega stars team.
DiMatteo won CL with the exact same team that AVB built and failed. Chelsea bought Hazard, Marin, etc we all know that abramovic wants them not DiMatteo.
Laudrup didn’t spend much when he first joined Swans and delivered success.
Pullis always bought has been and cheap players, but I don’t like his hoofball.
Mcclaren won dutch title with twente with no superstars, well that’s the good thing I know about him but eredivise and premire league are not the same (I might say he got lucky because other teams didn’t do well that year).
Moyes did well with Everton, we all know that Everton only doing loan and free transfers during his time.
Basically all of them don’t need expensive players to do well and they can get the best out of the players and made the team played well.

  • 38 Santon03 // Apr 25, 2014 at 8:31 AM

One thing for sure whoever the next manager will be, please don’t give him an 8 years contract.

  • 39 firebug666 // Apr 25, 2014 at 8:35 AM

I think that a lot of fans know how petty the Ashley creature can be, and the fear is that if they rebel against the powers that be too much, the Ashley creature will stamp his foot spit his dummy and make us suffer even more.

His plan atm seems to be getting the hard core supporters out of the club and replacing them with families who will just sit by meekly and watch the match without a single cough of discontent.

I think Ashley fears the true supporters and will do all he can to rid St James Park of them. The future of the club is looking bleak and will do for some years to come.

We have no power, no sway and no hope of effecting change within the club simply because Ashley will not listen, or act on behalf of the supporters he hates so much.

  • 40 bobby mango // Apr 25, 2014 at 8:40 AM

Why would any decent player want to stay at this ramshackle club?
The current position is exactly what most feared would happen under Ashley’s reign; his sort term corner cutting has resulted in complete capitulation.
How an astute businessman could be so naive is quite surprising.
If he’d invested sensibly over the past couple of years (2-3 new permanent players to improve the 1st team each summer and decent manager/coaches) things would be rosy.

I’m puzzled over this proposed sponsorship of Oldham by SD. Why didn’t they become our shirt sponsor etc. instead of Wonga and put money into NUFC. Surely we are a higher profile club than Oldham with more TV exposure etc. It surely would have been a win win situation – we get money legitimately from SD and they get high profile advertising.

  • 43 Schwefelberg // Apr 25, 2014 at 8:46 AM

    Average Good Plan!

We need to bring Mark Thatcher in on this. His insight into dirty deals would be invaluable in dealing with Pirates and Whales!!

Maybe Ashley wants to make sure he has an out strategy, and not wanting to tie too much from SD to the club, he has the advertising for free and controls all the merchandising through SD, if he wanted out ie sell the club then to untie all the SD connections he has at the moment could be a problem. Only a guess like.

On the other hand he could be punishing SD for not giving him his huge bonus, so ties them up with yet another club.

  • 47 firebug666 // Apr 25, 2014 at 9:02 AM

Also why would he want to give money to our club, money we might spend on players and end up with European football again.
