The Mail is reporting that Newcastle are ready to sign Manchester United 21 year-old striker Will Keane as a free agent this summer, when his contract at the Red Devils expires.
Will Keane – could sing as free agent for Newcastle in summer
The Stockport-born youngster has played for all the England Youth sides including 3 times for the England U21 side, and Manchester United seem unable to reach terms with the 6’2″ striker on a new deal.
And of course Newcastle are always interested in free agents (because they are cheap), who are also good players.
However, Will had a set-back in his career almost two years ago when he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament (knee) injury while on International duty with the England U19s in May of 2012.
That kept Keane out of action for the entire 2012–2013 season, and he only made his return for the Manchester United U21s in September of last year.
It’s hard to say if he’s as good as he was before that serious ligament injury, but the surgeons are getting very good at repairing the knee, and it was only 20 years ago that this type of injury would have ended a player’s career.
The 21-year-old has gained a bit of first team experience this season on loan at Wigan (4 appearances) and at QPR ( 9 appearances), and of course Will can get a lot better with more first team games.
Michael Keane – 8 times capped England U21 defender
Interestingly enough Will has a twin brother Michael, who is also at Manchester United, and he is a defender and also 6’2″ tall, and Michael has also played for all the England Youth sides, and 8 times with 3 goals for the England U21 side.
Maybe we could sign them both – because we certainly need some decent defenders at Newcastle.
What do you think?
Comments welcome.

Comment #1How cheap will Will Keane be then? That’s the key question for Mike. Because we’re also in there for Kuqi of course.

Comment #4A lot of you are telling me that you can’t agree to only scratch yourselves during the appropriate rest breaks on here. Now….. what am I supposed to do about that? Am I supposed to look the other way despite being Official Blog Hobbit? I’m afraid I just can’t do that. It will have to be noted on all your official Blog records. Tsunki take note.

Comment #13I’m not sure Will Keane and Shefki Kuqi will be the answer to all our problems at striker. But can we possibly afford a third new striker? Can anybody imagine that? I’ll need time to take this all in. It’s difficult for me so just try to imagine how it is for Mike. Staggering amount of money needed. And an 8 year extension for Shola as well.

Comment #21Just saw the review of the 2011-12 season(5th place finish) on youtube…
What has Ashley done…how can he screw up that bad…we have lost ba,cabaye,best,gutherie,simpson..ALL of those would have been useful this season..
Ashley looked happy, pardew looked happy, fans were happy and players too…
Look what his arrogance and mismanagement has got us into..

That would be the final straw for me and I dont mean to disrespect Shola. I just have this feeling Pards will come out with all the spin. Why else would they be playing him lately.
Time will tell….

Comment #27You lot are putting a lot of thought into next season. If only Mike and Alan were. Still we have a top management team there. Men with strong ties to Newcastle. Men with incredible football minds. I’m feeling completely relaxed about the summer here at Blog End. Now where is that new pipe mixture I’m trying?

Comment #35A married couple are on holiday in Wales, and they stop for lunch at the famous town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.
The husband calls over the waitress and asks, “I was wondering if you could settle an argument, how exactly do you pronounce this place?”
The waitress looks at him and says, “Burger King.”
