It’s almost four years since Newcastle last won at the Emirates, and with Newcastle having lost five league games in a row, there doesn’t seem to be much chance of getting anything out of this game.
Alan Pardew – needs something like a shock win at Arsenal
And the Newcastle fans seem to agree with that, with only 7% thinking we can actually get a win tomorrow night.
But something like a win tomorrow night is exactly what Alan Pardew and the players should be aiming for – to make up for what has been one terrible year so far for Newcastle United.
A win tomorrow night is exactly what the team and the fans need – so we can all start to look ahead to better times – certainly better than our terrible form over the last 18 games, when we have just four wins and thirteen defeats,
And Sunderland are doing themselves some good at the Stadium of Light today, and are 2-0 up at the half against Cardiff who are also down to 10 men, with Cala having been sent off just before the break.
He fouled Connor Wickham when he had a clear goal scoring opportunity and he was the last man, so that’s a red card offense.
However the foul was outside the box, but the referee gave the penalty (picky, picky) and Borini scored again.
Earlier in the game Connor Whickham got his 4th goal in the last three games with a good header for the Black Cats to put them 1-0 up after 26 minutes.
That’s what Newcastle need against Cardiff next Saturday – some luck – and a player sent off – even better would be two players sent off – just to make sure.
If Sunderland win today, they will be on 32 points and will be out of the relegation zone for the first time in a very long time – and they have three games to play (32+9=41), but they cannot catch Newcastle. 😀

That’s one thing I like about Liverpool is the atmosphere, when they sing you’ll never walk alone it must be one hell of an experience to be involved in that.

Not doubting you, just want to know where you heard it? a friend at the club, a friend of a friend, from carr himself….you must know where you heard it.
And if that’s the case Carr is in the wrong. Carr has scouted some good players but some utter dross too. He needs to know his place, he is a scout (head scout as you say) not a director of football, not a technical director….he reports to the manager. The manager is trusted with running the team and should have ultimate say in what type of player he wants…otherwise he is working with the wrong tools for his style….simple answer i feel.
Pardew also got Ba which was a good choice by him going from the stories in the papers at the time.

Comment #46when i read some of the posts being said on this blog about moyse i’m thinking myself, “whats the point in him coming to newcastle when their is likely to be just as bad an anti moyse as their is anti pardew.”
the main reasons people bash pardew is the stupid comment and because they say he makes players rubbish. so really what difference will moyse make having just been sacked from a manchester united team who won the league the previous year, i can see already posts everywhere saying he destroyed a united team so he will destroy a great newcastle team.
their is really 2 things i want to see happen in the summer.
1 i want to see everton spend no money.
2 i want pardew sacked, the players we have currently got being kept and only sign a replacement for ba and cabaye. then appoint a manager of rodgers or martinez catagory, or maybe laudrup.
then i will get to know just how poor pardew was.
the only time i will take a very active transfer window is if pardew is still in charge.

Not being pessimistic but still can’t see us doing much with ashley on the board or not, he can be involved without being on the board.
We need 4/5 players to just stand still with the amount leaving/having left this season. So really to improve we need 7/8 good players.
Ashley is a disease at the club in my eyes, not just for lack of spending, but for the way he treats the club and fans….no time for him. Would take more than 1 half decent window to change my mind on him.

if poyet pulls this off it has to go down as one of the best appointments ever worth literally millions, plus he managed a cup final and a quarter final. Not too shabby considering they were 8 points adrift when he went in there and have a rubbish squad.

Comment #50Welshgeordie…The Mackems in my opinion play much more attractive football than we do …Pardew is the 2nd longest serving manager currently in the EPL? and the team struggle to string 3 passes together, can’t score from set plays, can’t defend, none of our own players can score and effectively dire to watch…

exactly…people forget that.
Carr has signed amalfitano, abeid, cisse, santon, mbiwa…hardly good players
These are all pretty average and cisse for 9mil was poor, apart from his first 10 games.

Comment #52We may support NUFC but we’re actually supporting SD, Newcastle is actually part of SD in MA eyes.
We’ll do enough to keep us advertising SD ie being in the premier league.
If Wonga pull out SJP will revert back to MA sh.t brand name.
Sad to say but our club is dieing and there’s no light at the end of the tunnel.

Comment #53what it shows me is that transfers are never easy…rogers is manager of the season but has bought the likes of borini, aspas, sakho (for 17mil), cissoko, not good at all.
loads of transfers end up flops, at all clubs.

correct me if i’m wrong but are you therefore saying poyet is another manager you would want?
if you do then pulis has got to be the best appointment of all because he got relegation favourites to possibly finish11th and took a stoke team to an FA cup final and even win it possibly.

I suspect you and I are both supporters of very long standing. I kind of hark back to the KK years first time around and maybe we just got spoilt by the type of open and exciting attacking football we witnessed back then.
I still think there are some managers around today who can engender that type of football but I am probably more of a dreamer, whereas you are more practical and pragmatic.

It could go 50/50 mate, but it makes no sense why he would join the board if he was to fail and make no improvements once again.
About Graham Carr, that can be controversial, it would be wrong to say hes signings have been bad as without the signings of the likes of Cabaye, tiote, ben arfa, cisse, santon, debuchy we would of not finished 5th let alone we would of got relegated.
The likes of Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Cisse have been coaching really bad over a period of time that they have lost there technical flair about them.
Luuk De Jong did not get a fair amount of time to prove himself, especially at a time where the whole squad is un-motivated and playing very badly. He was already semi-destroyed at Germany now Pardew is doing his best to destroy his career.
And if you truly think Carr signings have been dross, you should of went with Pardew’s then when he wanted to sign half of West Ham players, many more championship players and stoke city players just so he could get his way and he tried to bring back Andy Caroll just for hoof ball.
Graham Carr makes the listings of signings, BA was scouted by Graham Carr long before Pardew was here as well so that was not a Pardew signing mate.

It was widely reported Pardew signed Ba, got to disagree there.
I think some of carr’s work has been dross, some has been very good. I think he is a decent scout working within a budget you will never get 70% right as low fees mean you do need to gamble a bit.
For me Carr is a decent scout, but nothing special, plenty others around the country just as good or with even more contacts.

“Carr has signed amalfitano, abeid, cisse, santon, mbiwa…hardly good players”
From that list there has been only one flop, and that i Amalfitano or however you spell it.
Abeid has done tremendously abroad and has won the cup also been there best player.
Cisse had a constant goal scoring record and proved that when he came to Newcastle when we had Ben Arfa upfront on wing and likes of cabaye in midfield with BA assisting on the left.
He has been coached badly, how can you say he is a bad signing???
Santon had his best season his first season here and the second season we finished 16th where everyone was bad, EVERY single player, and Mourinho even said he’s going to be one of the best in the future.
Whos fault? bad coaching again
MBiwa champions if Ligue 1 and captain of the team as well that was best young prospects of France and many teams wanted him, he chose us for Premier League and due to our french lads.
What happened? played with Williamson against Chelsea and Tottenham and got clean sheets, gets dropped for coloccini and steven taylor.
How is that Carr’s fault??
Please that was rather ridiculous stating he has had bad signings. Hes one of the best scouts for a limited funded club like Newcastle.
That is right on unfair.

while hugely admiring what pulis has done at palace and tbh the times I’ve seen them it hasn’t all been hoofball, I think his rep goes before him and was the reason Stoke wanted rid.
With Pulis Mid lower table Stability: 1, Entertainment 0.
It’s like Hansen saying west ham fans would take Allardyce’s non-football and being in the PL rather than playing football in the championship. Why can’t they play football in the EPL? Plenty of teams do.

That’s your opinion. I think Pardew is a poor manager and doesn’t get the best from players but these players aren’t good. Cisse was good in other league, not cut it here other than 10 games. Santon has awful positioning and is very lazy. Amalfitano a flop, Abeid a flop (we play in the prem league, not the greek league, don’t care what he does there).
Not saying Carr is awful, just he is a scout, nothing special at all, could easily be replace……as could our moron of a manager (who ashley continues to support despite his horrible football, terrible results and poor discipline).

I don’t agree with that statement at all.
Blame Pardew all you want thats correct he is the main problem here.
Players do not become crap over a short period of time.
Class is permanent, form is temporary.
Mehdi Abeid barely got a chance here, only 1 cup game against brighton I recall when he played mostly youngsters with his very negative approach to the game.
Post-Match interview he blames the youngsters not himself for rushing them in and putting them under loads of pressure.
I disagree with everything you have said today unfortunately. It does not make sense.

I just disagree….Carr is doing an ok job, signs some good and some bad players. I don’t see how we couldn’t do as well with another scout….he isn’t the messi of the scouting world, he is just a decent scout.
Saying we would be relegated without Carr is a ridiculus statement as you have no idea if we’d have replaced him with better or not and maybe if pardew got more of his own players we might be boring but could suit his style so do even better….there are too many variables.
I just think you pin the blame too much on pardew. Sure he doesn’t get anywhere near the best from what we have, but other than out first 11-14 players the rest are very poor from what I see.
Can blame coaching all you want but these lads are regularly misplacing simple, 5-10 yard passes, fluffing simple chances on goal, not tracking players or making individual errors.
Pardew is useless, but a lot of these players need to look at themselves as well.

Comment #80There’s a mixture of everything going on at Newcastle, an unfit squad lacking quality, Pardew and his strange boring tactics, fans expecting too much from a team not strong enough and of course our main problem MA with no ambition other than line his pockets and advertise SD.
even SJP looks like a SD advert.
All a bit of a mess really.
