Let’s talk about the positive things coming out of this game – you cannot accuse our players of not trying their best, and they gave their full effort to try to get something out of this game – but we simply were not good enough individually, and we were not good enough as a team, and we now have 13 points out of our last 18 league games, with a staggering 13 defeats, and these results are starting to become an embarrassment to the proud Newcastle United Football club.
As far as the game goes, Newcastle held Arsenal for the first 26 minutes until Sissoko held back Giroud as the French striker was trying to get away inside the Newcastle half.
And from the free kick it was Laurent Koscielny who was determined to get to the free kick, and he put the ball past Krul from about six yards out for Arsenal’s first goal.
Two minutes later and a terrific shot from Podolski was only inches wide, but then after 42 minutes the Newcastle defense was breached again, and this time it took a couple of good saves from Krul initially to keep the ball out, before Ozil was unmarked and rammed the ball home – but it looked like the German could have been offside.
Arsenal were comfortably on top at half time, and they played it fairly easily in the second half, because that’s all they needed to do to contain a very poor Newcastle side.
And then an excellent move by Arsenal after 65 minute, saw Ozil go down the left wing and put in a perfect cross to Olivier Giroud who headed home with all the time in the world without even being challenged.
Newcastle did have a few chances in this game, notably a couple of good efforts from Yoan Gouffran, but to say we deserved to get anything out of this game would be stretching it, and we were simply outclassed by a superior Arsenal outfit.
And the possession stats of 61% to 39% sum up the game, which was largely dominated by the home side.
And 89% of Newcastle fans in our poll were right about thinking we were going to suffer yet another defeat tonight, and it was really far too easy for the Gunners.
We always start these games hoping this will be the game we turn things around, but after a couple of goals are conceded it shows just how hopeless Newcastle are playing at the moment, and have played all year for that matter.
The banners of Pardew Out were displayed in the second half by the faithful traveling Newcastle fans, and it’s going to be interesting to hear what Pardew says after the game, because Newcastle were never really in this game.
Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was at the game tonight, and he would have left thinking that Cardiff have a decent enough chance of getting all 3 points on Saturday – remember they beat us 2-1 at home in the FA Cup in his match as manager but were hammered by Sunderland 4-0 on Sunday.
A defeat in that game against Cardiff City would be the end – it would be too much to have to take – and it would simply a disgrace for Newcastle United.
Newcastle need to completely rebuild in the summer, and the problem we have is we don’t see a solid foundation of players on which to build.
But if we don’t bring in some very good players this summer – this terrible run of results could continue into next season, and we’ll be in relegation trouble – as the TV commentators kept pointing out.
And that’s the very sad truth.
Newcastle appointed a new Managing Director in Lee Charnley, and maybe we need more changes at the top before the summer transfer window starts – and Mike Ashley is also responsible for this terrible run of results – having signed no permanent players in the last two transfer windows and selling our best player Yohan Cabaye in January.
We have had absolutely no success under Mike Ashley for seven years – and we have lost ground on all the big clubs in England – and if he bought the club to have some fun – then he should know that it’s no fun at all for Newcastle fans- those are the ones the club really belongs to.
There’s certainly enough blame to go around at the club at all levels – that’s for sure..
The form and the results of Newcastle United this year are simply nowhere near good enough – and we’ll leave it at that – at least for now.

Comment #42The guilty party in this whole mess is Mr “El Gourdo”Tubbs -he should never have hired Percy Parsnip in the first place -Percy had no credentials at all to make him a suitable manager for the club.
Percy -probably in his own mind has been trying his best -but he is not up to it.
Surely he will be sacked shortly -problem then is who will Tubbs appoint. The Toon rollercoaster rumbles on until the next debacle.

Comment #43If there is a near 50,000 at St James Park for Cardiff game I will be utterly disgusted, we have no cause for complaints if we turn up like sheep. Only way to instigate a change is to Not turn up.

the squad is that bad ?
around xmas we were 4 points behind liverpool
before you blame the sale of cabaye, think about your answer
are we a worse team attacking because he left
or
are a worse team defending because he left
and think about the games before he left, he played in plenty of games where we lost heavily
on another note, i like to think the team is good enough, the games we win are more down to individual skill, the team needs to be drilled as a team,
both sunderland and fulham are scoring goals , thats down to new coaches drilling them, both of those squads, i would not swap any of our players for theres
pardew makes our team look bad because of his coaching style

it was most like the fans own fault.
they screaming anger when HBA doesn’t start a game.
so that again allows ashley to avoid spending the money he would have needed to spend on wingers, instead he can keep on allowing fans to blame pardew for HBA.
i see fans screaming players who are leaving this summer should not be starting yet they want HBA to start.
i myself am glad once HBA leaves.
the FA cup had the team set up with HBA as a winger and gouffran as a CF yet fans accused pardew of fielding a second string team.
that is a second string team when you don’t want HBA starting.

Comment #47@FAU if we could mirror on the left what Debuchy does on the right we would be twice the team we are. When Sissoko was match fit the two of them were superb. Other that that I’d agree…

Comment #48Well done Ashley and Pardew, you have actually forced me to not give a s**t when we lose. Great achievement. I don’t even look forward to our games anymore. The only thing i get excited for now is a headline saying ‘Pardew sacked and Ashley selling the club’. One can dream…

Comment #49You know what, much as I hate Ashley we do have a decent squad on paper therefore pards has to take the blame for the sh1tshow we’ve become – we were absolutely useless tonight and seemed unable to change tactics – if you’re 2-0 down its pointless putting 11 men behind the ball, may as we’ll lose 6-3

Comment #52sage and tuff i tell ya 1 thing tho wat other manager would do better with the wages pardew is on? and not have his team behind him (in terms of staff)?
as i have said he’s done well under the circumstances and gary neville has said the same tonight
but there needs to be a change now because its gone past the redemption period but i also will guarentee it won’t get any better maybe for a honeymoon period but it will stay the same aslong as ashley is at the club!

The eternal problem you have with that plan is IF we had a great team (and a big enough stadium) you could sell 100,000 NUFC tickets a game.
What I honestly think we’re seeing is 20-30,000 fans that have genuinely given up going to games under this regime and what is left is:
1) Remaining season ticket holders (the poor, poor beggars)
2) 10-20,000 friend and family of season ticket holders who have been charitably given their tickets by distraught regulars and worst of all…
3) The effing “Prawn sandwich brigade” who sit there nattering on about anything but football and look at you like you’ve kicked them up the arse if you shout anything remotely frustrated/exasperated at the players and Pardew for doing the same ******* s**t for the millionth time running.
There is ZERO atmosphere apart from the hostile hardcore that will not leave and they probably make up just 15-20% of those left in the ground now.
It appalling what we’ve had to put up with and it won’t last.
Another season of this and even the Prawn sandwich brigade won’w want to ruin their weekends by attending anymore.

Comment #56catchy ya forgetting the fact we lost our only goal scorer in this bad run ffs ya know the 1 thats only on loan and then we lost our best player and creater in cabeye!
selective memory or wat?
same as rotonda who likes to tell everyone on here firstly that lukaku was out for 2months then it was nearly 3 months when reality was he missed 3 prem games and made a late sub appearence in the 4th and won the game!
so your idea catchy is that pardew was shit and had nothing to do with that good form of the 1st half of the season but shit and totally to blame for the second?

I’d love to mate but I’ve got this nasty habit of telling not lying and talking utter bollox about my team and I don’t think that fits in with Mr Cashley’s NUFC blueprint atm. 😉
Got 3 kids myself and I’m struggling to explain to them what it means to be a proud NUFC supporter these days.
They think I’m mental and I’m starting to agree with them. I’ve not to a home game since January and my last away game was the derby.
Until Pardew and Ashley are gone I’m not going back.
This isn’t OUR team anymore mate, when it finally is in the future I’ll be back in a heartbeat but until then no chance.
This isn’t entertainment, its purgatory!

Comment #60It is no good coming on here and saying Ashley has to go; Pardew has to go accept that they are going nowhere. They have already set out their stall by saying that they (I include Pardew if you read behind his spin) want a mediocre team that simply stays in the PL if we get around mid table that is a bonus. Blame the players, well I do to a degree however thery are supposed to be professionals and earning a good wedge to be so but they are totally unmotivated all they want is the end of the season, off on their jollies not a care in the world, unlike you and me if they do not produce they don’t get sacked and if they do they still get a fat wedge. Unfortunately our once proud club is rotten to the core bad owner who does not care, bad manager who is a puppet and bad players who simply turn up. These are the same players bar one that got us up to 8 in the PL before Christmas does it really make that much difference if one player leaves is no one capable of stepping up to the mark and perform at even 50% of the former? Carver has to be questioned he is in charge of coaching and to end this dismal missive I thought at the beginning of the season we made a big announcement of hiring a fitness coach what happened to them looking at the unfit (Hatem is overweight) unmotivated squad since Christmas. Hey Ho another season beckons and the fizzy pop league is not that bad is it?
