Alan Pardew – we were a bit unlucky

Here is the Alan Pardew interview with Sky Sports after the game tonight, where Arsenal were simply too good for us, and Alan Pardew talks about building the side this summer, and asks fans for their support, as we try to get a win against the rock-bottom club Cardiff City on Saturday.

There’s nothing more that needs saying. That went exactly to plan. Arsenal’s plan that is. We never had a chance given our form in the new year. Sack the manager? Probably a good idea at this point but the real problem has always been the owner. No spending in the last 2 windows. Hire a complete pillock as DoF. Then wonder why it’s gone so badly wrong. Only Mike is wondering actually.

If only he could be looking at a nice, extended holiday.

  • 3 manxpie // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:06 PM

sage and tuff i tell ya 1 thing tho wat other manager would do better with the wages pardew is on? and not have his team behind him (in terms of staff)?

as i have said he’s done well under the circumstances and gary neville has said the same tonight

but there needs to be a change now because its gone past the redemption period but i also will guarentee it won’t get any better maybe for a honeymoon period but it will stay the same aslong as ashley is at the club!

    manxpie // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:04 PM

catchy ya forgetting the fact we lost our only goal scorer in this bad run ffs ya know the 1 thats only on loan and then we lost our best player and creater in cabeye!

    selective memory or wat?
same as rotonda who likes to tell everyone on here firstly that lukaku was out for 2months then it was nearly 3 months when reality was he missed 3 prem games and made a late sub appearence in the 4th and won the game!

so your idea catchy is that pardew was shit and had nothing to do with that good form of the 1st half of the season but shit and totally to blame for the second?

  • 5 Thump // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:12 PM

Bugger me he talks a load of shite. Who does he think he’s fooling? We expect too much? Like what, for us to actually produce a game of football worth watching?

Waste of f’ing oxygen that man.

  • 6 manxpie // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:12 PM

    thump really?

the fat barstweward chants at lampard yesterday weren’t muted at all lol

  • 7 daztoon // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:13 PM

Yeah Pards get some wingers in that will solve all our problems with no one in the box.

  • 8 toonking // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:14 PM

    pardew shut fcuken up
according to these fans you are the only one who needs to go and this owner has created a great team horray for ashley and carr boo for pardew and coaches

then comes a great set of subs

this here is what fans say is the best team since sir bobby robson
so fcuk off pardew, before you destroy this team we have thanks to the great mike ashley or so these fans say.

anyone who thinks i’m talking stupid just one thing to say,
start fcuken getting the blame onto the owner then.

bad owners get bad managers ask
    liverpool hicks guilett
    united this year
    blackburn venkies
fcuk off with european league this is english premier league.

  • 9 Thump // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:14 PM

@manxpie: We really weren’t that good in the first half of the season either. The wheels come off after we lost one player (Cabs) and Pardew, despite knowing that he would be off, had no plan B, C or D. The man is tactically inept and reliant on the skill of the 11 he sends out to win him the game.

  • 10 Thump // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:17 PM

Just realised that we’ve conceded 57 goals this season: the same as Sunderland.

  • 11 daztoon // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:17 PM

Yeah Catchy don`t yer know only Remy is allowed to score for us its not a team game at all.

  • 12 BarnoldswickMag // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:18 PM

    And only 2 more goals i think…

  • 13 Thump // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:18 PM

I think toonking has lost it.

  • 14 Thump // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:19 PM

    @BarnoldswickMag: You’re absolutely right. 37 to our 39.

It’s alright, though – we have Shola

  • 15 BarnoldswickMag // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:22 PM

Yep if it was’nt for him we would be on 38 goals so he is a very crucial player for us. Definately our most proloific goalscorer with his 1 goal a season record. We are so lucky to have him.

  • 16 toonking // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:27 PM

all it would take is for a conversation to be done like the one i had on sunday.

tonight the posts are like that of a civil war

    a group is anti pardew
    a group is anti ashley
    a group is anti players.
    a some are anti supporters.

on sunday their was never this sort of talking because everyone of us would balance the blame on everyone.

ashley for not giving the funding, not once.
    pardew for stupid decisions
players for the attitude they show, and the relegation season we had shearer managing us for the last 8 games yet them players didn’t put an effort in and shearer would certainly have been giving them all the motivation he could.
moyse at united and AVB at chelsea show players these days force things to get worse and force managers out.

  • 17 stan anderson // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:28 PM

Looks like we are stuck with this loser, useless excuse for man is all i want to say at the moment.
Never felt so embarrassed about my team.

    kin charlatan

  • 19 manxpie // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:29 PM

thump we lost remy before and after cabeye again our only real scorer

oh yeah we had ameobi cisse and dejong (that player who hadn’t scored for a year or even played)

a grand total of about 5 goals in a season and a half between them

then our attackin options were arfa (plays when he’s arsed) n marv (plays for 5 mins then is anonymous) as our saviours?

yeah thats a great options to have isn’t it lol

and again there was no complaints when we were up there was there? (well except catchy)

neville even said we are a mid table team now and that it ain’t a bad thing under our circumstances

all in all the owner needs to go for THE CLUB TO MOVE FORWARD!!!!! not a change of manager because nothing will change infact it will get worse have a look at the history of ashley’s reign here ffs!

  • 20 PrinceMonkey // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:32 PM

Does Pardew remind anyone else of Henry winkler in The Waterboy? Especially in the last game at half time before bobby Boucher turns up Henrys got his head under a jacket and looks up and dejectedly says something like “anybody got any ideas?” I bet that’s what our half time team talks are like!

  • 21 manxpie // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:36 PM

infact who was it that did all them predictions at the start of the season?

i seem to remember pretty much everyone said we’d be between 7th n 10th!!

but low and behold we are 9th and all this uproar

so was us doing well in the 1st half (luckily obviously!!) the reason for this?

  • 22 daztoon // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:37 PM

Same old excuses from the Pardew fan club getting as tired as the ones From Pardumb himself.

  • 23 joenufc // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:38 PM

The squad is poor take a look at our probable first choice 11 plus bench.
Krul decent keeper has bouts of total ineptitude
Debuchy best player we own looks a good player after shaky start
Colocini good CB had his day now though wants to go home and it shows
Williamson heart of a lion just not premiership quality
Santon not a left back imho not sure where I would play him
Anita not creative, not physical enough to be defensive. Flatters to deceive
Sissoko burst onto scene then gradually disappeared, awful touch.
Tiote powerhouse but clumsy, one who would benefit from better teammates
Gouffran willing, no great finesse, good team player / sub
Remy goalscorer, speedy not ours never will be
Cisse again burst on scene doesn’t look like the same player we signed
HBA quality player, frustrating, enigma, alas gone
    Marv fast,promising,injury prone, ultimately unused
Dummett simply out of his depth
Mym prospect, clumsy, needs to move back to France
S Taylor injury prone, clumsy, needs to move to France
Shola how he has carved a career in football astounds me
    Sammy prospect
Armstrong god I hope we don’t destroy this lad, hopeful
Gosling not premiership quality nowhere near
    Elliot ok back up

  • 24 lesh // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:42 PM

manxpie… I don’t think tge uoroar’s about sitting 9th but the fact that Pardew, with Ashley’s help has taken us to 14 defeats in 19 games.

That’s what it’s about, sheer bad management from top to bottom.

  • 25 Kamikaze Koala // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:42 PM

  • 26 mindshaft // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:45 PM

Ahhh it’s the fans fault for expecting to be entertained etc

Sadly, despite Ashley’s lack of investment pardew is clueless and has pretty much lost the plot – his limitations as a manager are clear to see
I’m not sure how he can even defend himself, arsenal, Southampton, Everton, Stoke etc are apparently too good for us and we are unlucky to concede against the bottom teams – how about we are just f’ing rubbish and we have no clue regardless of who we’re playing – I’ve no idea who would take the job for the money Ashley will pay but we’re gonna be relegated next season for sure under pards so we need to try something

  • 28 toonarmydownsouth // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:47 PM

    What a game!!!!
We were bloody fantastic tonight, passed the ball well, we were clinical upfront and defended solidly
Fantastic display………the 7 a side power league trophy is in touching distance!

Missed the toon game, just got home, showered and couldn’t bring myself to actually watch the match so just watched MNF round up of the game……….painful painful stuff

Absolute shambles for the goals and just excuse after excuse from Pardew

Don’t care if your a Pardew supporter or Anti Pardew or just on the fence i think all will agree his position is now untenable

Listened to Talksport driving to footy tonight and the presenter was saying Pardew should be at a top club, players rate him and doesn’t understand why are NUFC fans are complaining…..
They then went on to say WHU fans were right to want FSA out for losing four on the spin!!!!!

Honestly where do we go from here?
The squad looks distinctly average, no where near most in the top 8 tbh, we have fans calling for players to feature who’s contribution in there careers here shows how desperate we’ve become
We have fans calling for the manager
We have fans calling for the owner
    We have fans abusing fans
We have damn near every club lining up to take 3 points off us

Can anyone remember a time when they have felt this unconnected, this disinterested, this disgusted, this upset, this disenchanted and this bleak about Newcastle United?

I can’t, it’s a f**king disgrace that no one at the club will be taken to task over what has gone wrong this season, instead the club will inform this has been a glorious season

I know many are screaming Boycott, but an empty stadium vs Cardiff? Who would really care tbh, instead give your signs and banners to every fan you know travelling to Merseyside and hold them high and proud!

  • 29 manxpie // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:47 PM

thats another thing everyone wants to see and calls for armstrong but to me it just seems its someone else you can hammer!!

like dummet he’s been twice the player santon has in his actual job which is defending but “he’s out of his depth!”

same with sammi “he’s not prem or championship standard!”

and you wan’t armstrong to come in to this?

    vuckic had the same

i’m all for critisism but to label and destroy a young player is shockin and armstrong will be the next on here just watch like!

  • 30 sportsdirect // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:48 PM

the blantantly obvious cold light of day fact that is the cause of the terrible standard of football witnessed in the 2nd half of this season is not the sale of cabaye, is not the injuries sustained and not evenashley. it is without a shadow of a doubt Mr Alan Pardew.

He is the most inept manager ever. the man is so far out of his depth it beggars belief. look at the squad of players he has at his disposal ffs.

if we get beat to cardiff and he is not sacked immediately then i will give up totally on following the club and giving support.

we have no shape, no tactics in fact in truth no idea. to top it off the ass still uses Shola ffs.

he has to go and i really do hope that the home crowd this weekend express this view so Pardew truly gets the message to F.Off out of the toon.

    Surely that’s the point?
We had the target sewn up by January, so did the club as a whole look at the season, think if we spend £10-15 mil this Jan seeing as we spent nout in the summer, we can really push on, were on Liverpool’s tail and could really go for it this season
But instead the club viewed it as okay then Job Done, Cabs you can go, Joe give Pards his cut and stick the rest in me wallet, seasons over so no need to waste any money by signing one of those player things the fans always bleat on about

Can anyone remember a time when they have felt this unconnected, this disinterested, this disgusted, this upset, this disenchanted and this bleak about Newcastle United?

Spot on. My answer is no. My fear is there seems no realistic escape from it either

  • 33 manxpie // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:54 PM

lesh that’s my point man we did very well in the 1st half and me you and probably the manager and players expected eventually to be rewarded with that with a few new signings that would help and take the team forward!

    but wat happened?

yeah we sold our best player and signed a striker on loan that hadn’t scored or nearly played in a year!

so 1 question is that pardews fault?

  • 34 toonking // Apr 28, 2014 at 11:55 PM

gary neville himself was also saying that pardew deserves more credit than he gets.

you right really those who know football at it’s best know really that it’s ashley who makes things like they are and this job is certainly not one anyone with good record would like.
we can scream for new managers all we like but it doesn’t work for england with managers like cappello so how the hell can they expect it to work for newcastle.

the sad thing is relegation might be our best thing to see happen because then the greedy b@stard will not have the sports direct advertising he gets at the minute, also if we could remain in the championship for a few season we might be able to do a southampton.

It’s heartbreaking mate, it really is
Like you say, just can’t see a way out

Your right Neville did say that mate, but he also spent 10 minutes with Carrager highlighting are disgraceful lack of communication and movement in defence pointing out it’s a long standing problem, that is on a Pards tbh
But like i said, regardless of if your Pro, Anti, Undecided or just a Pundit on Pardew there’s no denying that once you have lost the fans, which looking at the banners and hearing the jeers in the crowd tonight he most definitely has, his position is completely untenable now with a relationship beyond repair

It also doesn’t help when he keeps lying to fans, like saying our expectations are to high as only once in the last 7 seasons we have finished on over 46 points, but not mentioning all those seasons were under Ashley and we damn near always finished with more before Ashley
Then all the usual crap about the summer and spending, one window fine save face, two windows, it was getting painful but every window of hearing we need to strengthen but then oh no we don’t the squads great only to hear 3 months later no it’s to small and lacks quality
Enough’s enough Pards, put up or shut up but stop insulting the fans intelligence

  • 66 toonking // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:25 AM

when it’s press conferences and media i think the newcastle managers are going to be in a no win situation.

saying things in the realistic way ie,
our team is good enough and we didn’t need to buy players- that makes fans expect too much and also makes pardew look like a puppet backing ashley.

saying we are aiming to buy players this summer hoping we can get 6, that leads to fans saying he is telling lies just to try getting fans on his side.

saying HBA is rubbish and doesn’t deserve to play makes fans accuse him of destroying players

saying the players played good even when they lost fans accuse him of talking rubbish and that he doesn’t admit defeat.

lee charnley when he stated what sounded a realistic transfer people were saying that he is yet another yes man.

kevin keegan when he demanded more he was forced to walk out.

another thing ashley is hated for is he never speaks to the fans he makes pardew talk this nonsense.

if pardew was totally quiet and refused to talk then the fans would be just as angry.

the sad thing is that that all the problems in regards to this manager will each have two sides to an arguement.

the owner has made it like this and i think we are going to be left in this mess right the way through until he leaves.

I’m sorry but Charnley stating we will only sign 1-2 players per calendar year, in other words every 2 windows, is not in any way a realistic policy it’s a pathetic one and one you simply cannot apply at the top flight, or any league for that matter!

Charnley is maybe not a yes man, but as an accountant and club secretary, he is no way shape or form qualified to act as the MD of this club

  • 76 daztoon // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:34 AM

Don`t worry the future is bright stick with Pardew he`ll have some new players to teach the 6-3-1 formation next season

  • 80 Our Toon // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:37 AM

Just take a step back from what your targets were or where we are as a club in the table. I’m always told 1 player doesnt make a team so dont give us that rubbish of Cabaye was sold.

    – 6 defeat in a row, new record
    – lost 4 derby games record that hadnt been broken since 1920s
    – least number of goals in a very long time
    – lost 14 of last 19 games
    – rarely do we get more than 5 shots on target
    – A squad that doesn’t want to play for the manager
    – Headbutting an opposition player
    – Knocked out of the 3rd FA Cup AGAIN
    – Manager said we have the players to get by when Cabaye was sold!!!!!

The list is endless mate, you my friend are unfortunately one of the many things thats wrong with our club. We are currently bottom in 2014, we’ve won the least amount of games and points in all major european leagues and domestic leagues up to div 2. Your excuse is Cabaye and Remy missing, give over man. You play attacking football and you will be rewarded with goals from all areas

  • 81 toonking // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:38 AM

i didn’t mean sign 1-2 is realistic in the way of taking the club forward.

the meaning of it sounding realistic is going off how ashley runs this club.

6+ signings is the realistic thing that takes the club forward which pardew is trying to say will happen.

but charnley is saying we will only sign 1-2 in a year, which sounds realistic expectations when it’s ashley who is owner.

  • 82 joenufc // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:40 AM

I’ve said before I don’t expect a huge spend in the summer purely cause Ashley just doesn’t allow it,but I think this year we most definitely need it. It’s a slippery slope to the championship I think we’re on.

  • 83 toonbrother // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:40 AM

lol. in the future joenufc learn to debate the point being made instead of attacking posters you disagree with.

  • 84 Shot Bru // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:40 AM

The damage has been done already…Our best players like Debuchy will be gone during the WC…unrest in the camp will lead to more players wanting out…

It will be difficult to attract any quality in the summer….how does Pardew intend to gel a team together after this shambles of a season…

I suppose he is gonna build his defence around Willo/Saylor…the midfield around Tiote/Anita and the forward line around Shola/Cisse….and according to Charnley we are only gonna buy 2 players a year!!!

Far Out…the writing is well and truly on the wall

  • 85 joenufc // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:42 AM

  • 86 toonbrother // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:43 AM

ashley is a greedy piece of shit but in the last 4 years he has brought in TOP CLASS TALENT like
    Ben Arfa
Cisse (before Pardumb got his hands on him)
Mbiwa (French league winner and captain)

Our appalling form has very little to do with ashley and everything to do with Pardumb and coloshitty the human sewage pipe

Sat in the corporate section at the Emirates. A class act and a top class club. The clubs are miles apart. Their third team could give us a game. Would any of our midfielders come before Arteta, Carzola, Oxlade Chamberlain, Rozicky, Flamini, Ramsay, Walcott, Ozil, Wilshere? Thats 10 players and we were playing Gosling!!!!!!! and Anita. Men and boys.

  • 90 toonking // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:46 AM

that is what makes these press conferances so hard for employees of ashley.

if they tell lies like pardew saying this team is hoping to get 6 players then he is talking bullsh1t

if they tell truth such as we will only get what ashley will allow and that is 2 players again it is puppet talk.

finally if they do what keegan did then it means the manager will get sacked and in comes another yes man.

get this fat b@stard out more than anything.

  • 91 Our Toon // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:47 AM

    Toon Brother

You also need to give over

    -Multiple international caps
    – Known world wide
    – Sold defender over most of his career
    – played at the top level all his career (except 1 season in Championship)
    – Might be going to World Cup
    – Doesnt Panic
    – Picks a Pass

    Overratedson (Willo)
    – Never Won a Cap for England, Never will.
    – Couldnt get a game for Pompey (Team we bought him from)
    – Championship player at best
    – When we sell him he will spend his career in lower leagues along with Dummett
    – Hasn’t got a reputation abroad
    – Never scored a premier league goal (except for his own net)
    – Uncomfortable with ball at his feet
    – hoof ball defender, can’t pick a pass
    – best at heading the ball defensively!!

Willo is poor mate, look at the first and second goals tonight…..what defender tries to play offside without communicating with his other defenders

  • 92 Shot Bru // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:50 AM

Jimily…you are a long suffering fan like myself and many others…we all know the problem is the owner…Pardew is truly sh@te but he is merely a pawn in Ashley’s game….how would you get rid of Ashley???

The only way out I can see is relegation!!!

  • 93 jimmysmith // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:50 AM

You can’t go to Arsenal with that squad and expect too much different. Tiote, Sissoko, Anita, Debuchey, Krul and Gouffran are the only players you would expect to be part of a quality starting 11 next season. You might include Collocini if we sign an imposing top quality centre back to play along side him. This is down to lack of spending and that’s down to Ashley’s financial prudence. Pardew may be limited, but blaming him seems entirely inadequate.

  • 94 toonbrother // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:50 AM

87jimiley anita is a excellent player who has been misused and devalued by pardumb. this is a player who excels in either full back role, and thrives in 3 man midfield formations. it doesnt take a genius to work it out just a bit of research and discernment
i totally disagree with you on arsenal having better midifelders . Sissoko and tiote under the right coach are good enough to play for any team. Ben Arfa in my opinion is among the top 10 most skillful players in the world. Look at what rodgers has done with henderson and sturridge. contrast that with what pardumb has done to Cisse and marveaux. Its not about personnel its about management or lack thereof

  • 95 joenufc // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:51 AM

  • 96 Our Toon // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:54 AM

Correct me if I’m wrong here but didnt Marv get 2 or 3 assists in this fixture at Arsenal last year? we got tonked 8-2 or 8-3 (something like that) but at least we threatened

Also didnt HBA score at the emirates the season before? stepping inside and smashing it into the bottom corner…..someone should play that for Pards

  • 97 toonbrother // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:54 AM

@Our Toon international caps and reputation does not win games.
Colocinni has been paired with Saylor (Mancity 4-0 loss)
paired with Mbiwa (Everton 3 goals in the first half alone)
paired with Williamson (17 goals in 6 games)
    What does this tell you?

  • 98 toonking // Apr 29, 2014 at 12:57 AM

    newcastle 2-2 liverpool
    paul dummett with the equiliser

who has got a reputation abroad.
HBA-no he is known for bust ups

He was also paired with Willo against Man utd away (clean sheet)

I asked you to look at the 1st and 2nd goals mate, I agree though that International doesnt necessarily win games, but give me a team of internationals over mediocre championship players I bet the internationals win more times.

Willo and MYM didnt keep a clean sheet against Spurs TIM KRUL did….another record.

That Everton game it was MYM who was dragged off at HT not Colo, we didnt concede in that 2nd half. What have you seen in MYM to say he should be ahead of Colo.

Tonight’s game, MYM sliding in the box against Rosicky when frankly there was no need, he was on the pitch for 5mins and made several mistakes!!

  • 103 lesh // Apr 29, 2014 at 1:06 AM

Would I prefer a club that says nowt or a manager who talks rubbish to keep his job?

Neither but they are what we’re stuck with.

A manager who had amore positive attitude, a can-do mentality would be a good start.

Look at Sunderland, look at Crystal Palace, rock bottom and destined for the drop a few weeks ago

Palace are close to finishing above us. Sunderland may well escape the drop.

Why? Because the players believe in themselves because the managers have given them the confidence to fight, to win.

What do we have? A manager who believes that the fans, the club’s paying customers, those whose blood is black and white, the fans are asking for something that can’t be delivered!

It’s not like we’re supporting Gateshead or Whitley Bayor tge like a demanding Champions League qualification every season.

That Mr Pardew is not deliverable but, a side made up of committed, confident and motivated and ambitious players may just go somewhere near achieving Champions League.

The owner would have to share those aspirations and such an owner would be asking his manager to go away and tell him how he can meet fans’ expectations.

But, twould appear we don’t have such an owner and the club is slowly being strangled to its death.

  • 104 manxpie // Apr 29, 2014 at 1:09 AM

ourtoon okay then but 1st of all how about ya look at the facts i’ve already said on this thread and don’t believe rotonda or catchy!!!!!

how about top 5 for the 1st time in 10 years
winning at old trafford for the first time in 42 years
getting to the euro quarter finals since sir bobby

and all and i mean all under an owner that has constantly sold players without replacing them an in some positions for 2 years!!
plus not providing a squad once!! to move forward!!

so how about ya start aiming all your hatred at 1 person fella

so you say play attacking football so with who and wat formation obviously without cabeye remy n debuchy?
and then remember that arfa plays wen he wants to and the same for marv?

Sorry but Pardew is the problem as well.. If he had any feelings for the club and fans he would stand up to Ashley…

I reckon Ashley knows not a lot of managers woul touch us with a barge pole…so he is stuck with Pardew…and is at a loss who he can replace him with

There’s Pulis today asking for $30 million to take Palace forward…so that story linking him with NUFC is bollox

  • 106 Our Toon // Apr 29, 2014 at 1:10 AM

You mention Gateshead, to all season ticket holders and non season ticket holders. Gateshead are in the play offs £13 tickets for home game and £9 if your a toon season ticket holder (which im not) come down and support a local team with aspirations to achieve something. Think they play on Thursday and then Sunday with Final at Wembley

  • 107 jimmysmith // Apr 29, 2014 at 1:11 AM

If Ashley doesn’t act to correct this sorry state of affairs, then I think the whole city, not just the fan base should rise up against him. He has more than enough financial clout to do so and he’s been guilty of taking more than he’s given back. He’s taken the football out of Newcastle. It’s gone beyond opportunistic and fiscally prudent and become glaringly negligent.

  • 108 joenufc // Apr 29, 2014 at 1:13 AM

  • 110 daztoon // Apr 29, 2014 at 1:21 AM

Ashley hasn`t constantly sold players Carroll,Ba and Cabs in 3 years.

Pardew has more or less had the same squad for two and half seasons.

Pardew doesnt play Benny or Marv because he has no idea how best to use em.

  • 111 wolfshead@toon // Apr 29, 2014 at 1:24 AM

looking at the shocked and angry comments on here were people expecting to get a result tonight? lol how many better teams than us have come away from the emirates empty handed the only bright spot is we may never see colo in a black and white shirt again

  • 112 Our Toon // Apr 29, 2014 at 1:24 AM

I gave you examples of this season, I didnt even get into last seasons debacle. Out of your great facts how many were achieved this year? 1 and that was the Man Utd win, wow great news. We beat a Man Utd team without Rooney and RVP who was 10% match fit. Good performance though playing the right formation, 4 days later that formation was changed and we lost to Swansea 3-0

Season we finished 5th was great, but HBA etc werent asked to babysit but the team was expressing itself in an attacking sense. What players were sold that had such a detrimental effect? Carroll £30m + i would have sold him, Demba Ba had a clause in his contract, wanted to play centrally so we give in to his demands and cause Cisse unrest the goal machine at the backend of last year. We change our shape to accomodate BA’s wishes but we stupidly didnt offer him a contract…..Bad management as he gave in to Ba and bad judgement by the Board. Cabaye sold not replaced, was missing for most of last year but we didnt go on anything like the run we are on now so whats the excuse? he was also missing at the beginning of the season.

Plenty of attacking players HBA has more assists and goals per minute compared to Cabaye over both there careers at the toon!! Good run in Europe no doubt, but playing HBA on a plastic pitch and also in a meaningless group game was shocking on both counts by Pards not MA but the muppet in charge of the team. Do some research mate.

Final Note: Pards always comes out and says he’s happy with the squad we don’t need new players when the window closes nut when it opens we always need 2 players. Poyet on the other hand said to the Scum I choose the new signings not the DF if you don’t agree to this I’m off, that was in November…..He’d been manager of that club a month!!!! don’t make excuses for someone who is completely spineless.

I’m off to bed catch up with all tomorrow!!

  • 113 manxpie // Apr 29, 2014 at 1:26 AM

i tell ya wat some crap gets spouted on here as facts like and people jump on it as gospel

and as i said earlier you all want armstrong to start but i would probably give it 10 mins till its ” he’s shit or championship standard or is this all we’ve got at youth level but most of all not good enough!!!”

    its a joke like!

  • 114 joenufc // Apr 29, 2014 at 1:31 AM

I agree with you pardspew is inept totally.
But the hankering for marv puzzles me, he drifts out of games so quickly and picks up so many injuries it’s unreal. HBA is on his day and it has to be his day, quality. But he too is hit n miss, he’s the kid in the schoolyard who won’t pass, won’t do the simple thing but every now and then does something that just makes you look and say, what a player. Unfortunately our squad is not strong enough to carry such a player, due to lack of quality and expenditure from Mr fat cockney. I really don’t want to lose benny but he ain’t never gonna fit nufc while we have any this lot in charge

  • 115 manxpie // Apr 29, 2014 at 1:37 AM

i.e many many many many different factors!

but under pardew in 3 years we’ve finished 5th and got to a QF of europe plus in the top 10 now
the last man to do that was sir bobby fact!

and he was also our last longest running manager

but pardew has had fusk all to spend and also had every 1 of his best players sold even his best fill in players sold coz they bring a profit!

Yer right Marv and Benny will never work at the Toon under

Both players like to pass n move but with the set up Pardew has there simply isn`t any movement.

Pardew has em stuck out on the wing, both are players who need to be in and around the box.

Both are players that would simply blend into a side like liverpool ,arsenal, southampton with the style of football they play.

  • 122 joenufc // Apr 29, 2014 at 2:05 AM

100% agree mate but look at our squad mate,we can’t afford to play two players who might, might not turn up for a game. Years gone by we had ginola,Robert, tino bellas to an extent but we knew even if they had a poor game we had robby lee,Gary speed, nobby, to do the graft for them, this current shower can’t do that.
Honestly mate I think pardspew is the luckiest man employed, he’s hopeless.,but take a good look at the players we have and merit each one on his strength or weakness. I’ve done that this season and I really think player for player we are weak.

  • 123 jimmysmith // Apr 29, 2014 at 2:06 AM

Young players need to be given time, but none of our youngsters have done enough to suggest they will figure prominently though. Dummett is in the frame because of Santon and Haidaras defensive frailties, either of those players picks up defensively they would be straight back in on what we’ve seen before. I don’t think any of our youngsters have earned the right have an extended run in the side at all, because any young player has to show genuine EPL potential that will outweigh the liability they inevitably are when they come in. Sammi perhaps has something, of the others, solid perhaps, but good enough for Newcastle in the EPL, that’s a long bow, from what I’ve seen recently. Armstrong isn’t ready, if he’s ever going to be.

  • 124 manxpie // Apr 29, 2014 at 2:08 AM

ourtoon how about dalglish getting us from second to 13th after willfully selling our best players and bringing in ian rush barnes and pearce and thats when he had the finances to spend!!

he didn’t break them records you mentioned but surely made his own

but then he didn’t have to play sunderland did he?

and that why all them records are void really in the sence of stats because when was the last time we lost by wat ever goal difference against man city before they spent there billions?? or chelsea!??

  • 125 manxpie // Apr 29, 2014 at 2:18 AM

joe well yeah but he should be certainly performing more than he has wat makes me laugh is that every top team has a group of players that are a team

no passengers in any part of the game not at all and that is the formula of the modern game

but arfa and marv are supposed to just bypass that and let the rest of the team put up with it

now theres been more stories about the upset of the rest of the players against arfa than there has against pardew so i seem to think its arfa who’s lost the dresing room more than pardew but that isn’t new is it lol?

  • 126 daztoon // Apr 29, 2014 at 2:18 AM

We have Benny,Marv,Anita,Sissoko,Debuchy,Santon,Gouffran,Remy even De Jong showed good feet.

All players comfortable on the ball, all like to go forward ,all give n go players.

All wasted in a negative set up that the first thought is to defend.

Pardew wouldn`t have played Ginola or Tino they never tracked back.

Yer never gonna see an centre back under Pardew doing what Albert used to do chipping a goal from 25 yards.

Its rare we get our midfield past the halfway line never mind a centreback

  • 127 Mister Tuff // Apr 29, 2014 at 2:20 AM

    The Collo debate.
Coloccini -a couple of years ago was the all round defender. Nowadays his only real attribute is coming out of defence with the ball – cool and can pick a pass.
Unfortunately the defensive side of his game now falls short. He repeatedly ball watches and loses opposition forwards and does not spot the runner. I have posted about this on numerous occasions. Tonight after the third goal I posted immediately it was his fault -it was so obvious -and again unfortunately repeating part of his game now -ball watching and losing Giroud. He is not the top player he was.
Those who cannot see that need to change their game -could I suggest that netball, ladies rugby or ladies wrestling may be suitable sports to follow.

daztoon – I know one or two on here have suggested moving Colo into midfield in recent weeks. I think it would not work out -he’s lost a bit of pace. Several weeks ago Percy announced he was going to do some experimentation with the team -really we have not seen any -perhaps Colo does not want the role anyway. I see a good contrast with the Gerrard situation – Rodgers has moved him back a bit -bit like a Pirlo role -people say his legs have gone -but he’s still pretty sharp. Contrast with Colo -he’s slow now and I just do not think the role would suit him.
We were calling for a couple of central defenders two years ago -one at least a big commanding CB -and did nothing -we are now reaping the rewards of Mr Tubbs inaction – quite frankly our current form is relegation standard. I shudder to think of what rag bag collection of misfits and loanees are going to be hired in the summer.

What a day and era that was even the shirt was class and still my all time fav Newcastle shirt.

  • 134 joenufc // Apr 29, 2014 at 2:45 AM

Sad ain’t it mate never like the Toon to lose one game never mind hoping for two big hammerings.

  • 135 Mister Tuff // Apr 29, 2014 at 2:51 AM

As for the Liverpool game – Percy will attempt to copy Mourinhos’ tactics at the weekend following their 1 – 0 victory. Chelsea could implement Mourinhos’ plan perfectly without any slip ups. Probably because they have the best defence in the league they were able to do it -very disciplined and kept their defensive shape at all times.
Chelsea have only conceded 26 goals – we’ve conceded more than double that. Our efforts to stiffle Liverpool will come unstuck and we are in line for a good and proper trouncing.

  • 136 daztoon // Apr 29, 2014 at 2:53 AM

    Mister Tuff

Don`t know was the same with Vension his legs had gone for a fullback not that he had any pace to start with.

For me would be a good position for Collo, especially with Anita or Tiote around doing the leg work.

Yer right about the need for a commanding centre back something we have lacked for years.

  • 137 joenufc // Apr 29, 2014 at 2:55 AM

Mint shirt mate still got it in the loft somewhere, we got in a bit of a fracas with some cockney man u fans at the pub but landlord was a friend of one of our group and kept my shirt for safekeeping and told us to go out and batter them lol, after I got back from whipps cross hospital he gave it back hehe lost a little chunk of ear bit of blood but good day.
Gotta say though favourite shirt still asics Andy Cole with the Newcastle brewery star

  • 138 daztoon // Apr 29, 2014 at 3:04 AM

Yeah liked the asics one but the blue away shirt was horrid looked like someone had wiped a paint brush on it

  • 139 jimmysmith // Apr 29, 2014 at 3:22 AM

I think until this past transfer window you could put together a strong argument that we have progressively strengthened since we came back up. But the wheels have clearly fallen off now and the side needs to be significantly overhauled due to aging legs, lack of quality, disaffected players and transfers.

There’s nothing conclusive to imagine Ashley won’t necessarily provide the money to right the ship, more perhaps to suggest he will, but surely this approaching off season is a watershed moment for his ownership. There will be nothing inconclusive any longer if he doesn’t.

  • 140 joenufc // Apr 29, 2014 at 3:32 AM

Totally agree jimmy this window coming will tell us if Ashley is to stay or sell up, I kinda get the feeling the fat got will still try and do it on a shoestring and hope it goes well, after all he only has to gather a team to beat the three he thinks will go down another seasons premiership money tv money global advertising he can’t fail mores the pity

  • 141 terencelim // Apr 29, 2014 at 4:04 AM

@jimmysmith According to NoobDawnSarf Ashley is doing well and normal for the club so fans should not expect and complain too much.

  • 143 ramajama // Apr 29, 2014 at 5:17 AM

Why not play five in the midfield with tiote holding and Sissoko and Benny infront. Benny could have a free role and push up behind the striker, gouffy on the right and marv on the left. Switch Benny and marv around to freshen things up. Remy up front. Would be an exciting team to watch. Get a bit of the razzle dazzle back.

Would never happen under Pardrew tho sadly.

  • 144 cyprus // Apr 29, 2014 at 5:37 AM

Fair assessment of players @23. Still, we do have a core of excellent players that the NEW manager should try to keep: Krul: error prone but he’s young and talented.
Debuchy: top player, keeps out Sagna from France 11.
Sissoko: opponents just bounce of him, will be the new Toure, hopefully for us.
Tiote: Excellent at what he does.
HBA: needs a good coach to reach top player status.

Players who may turn out good enough to keep: Santon, Anita, Ameobi. MYM. Did I forget someone?

This Armstrong kid, I don’t know, can’t judge as I haven’t seen him enough. Did he manage to touch the ball last night? Can he cut it at this level? Is he too tiny for a forward? Who knows?

Manx…if you know what hypocrisy is then why didn’t you use it correctly before? 😉

  • 146 Lilongwe Geordie // Apr 29, 2014 at 6:44 AM

From yesterday, no, ‘people’ was’t aimed at you. Lots of folk on here use the phrase, just you were the one who used it most recently. Continental football is full of different styles, which makes the phrase a continental manager a bit odd. Managers from anywhere can play with a bit of style and attacking intent. The phrase is just an odd one, and doesn’t really offer any thought as to what type of manager you want.

On last night, not sure what Pardew was watching to think we were in a ‘good zone’ up until the first goal. They barely stepped out up from a training performance and controlled the game. I got the feeling that if they had really gone for it that could have been a hiding.

Complete lack of interest and application by all involved. The players need to take a long hard look at themselves, rather than just us all blaming Pardew/Ashley. We have all seen them put in more effort in games as well as more quality. Just plain and simply shambolic.

Cardiff will be scrapping for their lives when they head up north next week, do our players have the passion, desire and fight to live with that at the moment? Not on the showings of this year.

I don’t even want to think about Liverpool, they could go into the game against us knowing they will need to win by 8 or 9 goals to get the title. The movement of Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling and Coutinho and that incentive could make it all highly embarrassing for us to watch.

  • 147 bobby mango // Apr 29, 2014 at 6:50 AM

Just when you think you can’t have any less respect for him he comes out with an interview like this.
Trying to blame decisions! We were being mauled. 3-0 was lucky (for us)

‘the team had fight and spirit’ no they they didn’t. They looked like the didn’t want or care to be there. Most of all they looked shot of confidence and completely clueless.

‘looking at a long term opportunity for myself’ nice one Alan. Keep thinking about yourself, whilst you flounder completely out of depth and heap misery and embarrassment on thousands of fans.

If we don’t beat Cardiff he surely, surely has to quit. He cannot justify his position.

  • 148 toonarmydownsouth // Apr 29, 2014 at 6:54 AM

“Complete lack of interest and application by all involved. The players need to take a long hard look at themselves, rather than just us all blaming Pardew/Ashley. We have all seen them put in more effort in games as well as more quality. Just plain and simply shambolic.”

Spot on, have been saying this for months but the shambolic display is a collective effort from everyone involved

Ashley puts the club under little no pressure to strive to do well

Pardew is more than happy to cash in on the ready made excuses gifted by Ashley like the Cabaye sale and lack of squad depth

The players seem happy to just collect there wage and add to the frustrations of the crowd by showing zero application

It’s not good enough for a Newcastle United team

  • 149 Lilongwe Geordie // Apr 29, 2014 at 6:58 AM

You really think Pardew couldn’t come up with reasons to justify his position? They may not have any foundation or have any hint of truth and appreciation for what is going on, but I am certain he will come up with something.

This is 3 and a half years. He told us at the start of the season that this was his team now. They look lost and helpless yet Pardew can’t see it.

Complete overhaul from owner, board, manager, coaches and players would be more than welcome. I think only the latter two are a realistic target for us to achieve short term, but whether the players who come in are any good is an issue.

  • 150 Lilongwe Geordie // Apr 29, 2014 at 7:09 AM

Yeah, even Alan Smith and his commentator were baffled by the lack of fight and application. I wanted to start again completely last year and bring in young players to do a major overhaul. I was prepared to write this season off to allow them to adjust and grow as a team. Sadly, we have achieved zip this season, and had to write it off, and next year we will be told that this is a transitional season if we have the player movement expected.

Ashley has to release his chequebook, but more importantly it has to be used well. Personally I’d do what I wanted last year. Top class coaches and then young players with good potential. Byram, Powell, Maguire, Long and Rhodes from the lower leagues. Possibly Alli and Clayton for more long term planning. Chalobah, Richards, possibly Moses as well from Prem clubs. I’d happily take foreign lads as well, not just wanting Brits, but I know the Brit leagues better. It all requires top coaching staff though, and a substantial outlay from Ashley – both not looking promising.

Something has to give soon at the club or it could all end in disaster. When our fans are mocking Arsenal because they could only score 3 against us, then it tells you how low we are.

  • 151 BuckLuck // Apr 29, 2014 at 7:34 AM

What scares me is that there are fans that judge Pardew over a few good results.
Performance is a lot more important than results over time, and even in the season we finished 5th we only had a short spell of positive performance.

When other clubs evolve we have to evolve with them and hopefully evolve a bit more every season. We will NOT do that with Pardew. He’s as limited as they get and with the modern attacking philosophy spreading from club to club we will only drop further down the league. Pardew does not have the knowledge to understand how to play the modern game, and more importantly, he does not know how to train for it.

There’s really not one good reason for Pardew to continue as manager.

  • 152 Jail for Ashley // Apr 29, 2014 at 7:46 AM

The whole Pardew situation has completely broken down, you can tell he wants to lash out at the uneducated masses who aren’t quite as clever as the Soton fans but he knows that will be the final straw, I’ve never liked the bloke since he walked into the club but have had a bit of sympathy for him after some of the hands he’s been dealt from the owner, as time as gone on it has become increasingly clearer that Pardew is not only complicit in the lies and deceit being played out at the club, I can understand the arguments for him not publicly slating Mashers but dedicating wins to him after not having a player bought for a year is nothing short of snivelling, is the six in a row also going to be dedicated to Mikey, or is that just the press, fans and referees fault, as much as I would like to blame our portly owner it wasn’t him that head butted that player which has to be just another factor in our collapse this season, I was praying he gave Wenger a right hook last night.

  • 153 Jail for Ashley // Apr 29, 2014 at 7:49 AM

    *not only complicit but instrumental.

  • 154 Jail for Ashley // Apr 29, 2014 at 7:50 AM were saying that talk last night was a mass walk out on sixty minutes against Cardiff, we’ll probably be 2-0 up and fusk all will happen.
