Alan Pardew has given his press conference for the Cardiff City game today, and he has said that he wasn’t given any targets but the targets we have are the ones we set ourselves – whatever that means.
Alan Pardew – press conference today
You either have targets or you don’t have targets, and after all we know that bonuses are paid out – so they must be based on something.
And the news is coming through that Pardew has Ben Arfa training with the Development squad – so there’s definitely a rift, and probably a big rift that seems to have developed between former star player Ben Arfa and the manager – and that’s never good for either party.
And it cannot be doing Ben Arfa’s confidence or mood any good, to be banished to training with the Reserves – and as we said – that’s not good.
This is some of what Alan said in his press conference today:
“I wasn’t set any targets for this season and the only targets are those that we set ourselves.” “Saturday is very important, we have to put in a performance that gets the stadium on our side and gets us a win.”
The good news is there are no new injury problems, and we just have to hope that a mini-miracle happens on Saturday afternoon, and that we can beat the rock bottom team Cardiff City at home, and in front of over 50,000 fans.
Is that asking too much?
That would be very good and would certainly help to lift the morale of the Newcastle fans, although not by too much.
That’s because after the very poor performances this year, a massive rebuilding is required in the summer transfer window, if we are to have a decent side next season.
And the very last thing we want to have is another relegation fight next season.
🙁

Slight correction: I am suggesting that players should come in and out of the starting eleven, using the squad in a more balanced way than suddenly making whole sale changes.

Comment #85I see Percy has banished Benny to training with the reserves and apparently de Jong could be fit for Saturday.
I would play Benny every time before de Jong.

Comment #87This just in from your Official Blog Hobbit and club reporter. A statement from police constabulary of Barnet UK:
Mike Ashley aka Mike NoNuts has been released following a brief altercation inside his home. He was found naked with a number of budgies in his master bedroom. The staff became concerned after hearing a number of shrieks and hysterical giggles. No charges have been laid pending an investigation.

Comment #95The following statement has been released by Mr. NoNuts in response to the police statement.
“I deny any wrongdoing in this unfortunate situation. No budgies were injured. I admit I was recording a little interlude I was having with me beloved birds but beyond that I have nothing to say.”

Take the example of Willo who you have as a second string player, he has had a purple patch this season but I doubt he will be able to repeat it. However he did bring some success to the side, he showed the desire to keep the position when given the opportunity and has been able to show some level of ability through game time. Who is to say that others would not be able to follow suit?
As has also been discussed by others transfer value is no guarantee of performance, so the right environment has to be created at the club. For this Ashley is equally guilty as Pardew, but a better manager would go along way to rectifying the situation.

Comment #110Just for general information no I am not bald. Perhaps a touch compromised in the hair department and yes there could be a strong case for a Regaine application buy I still require a regular visit to the gentleman’s trimming boudoir to have the occasional hair cut. Sometimes two of them.

the thing is from augest all the way up to december we were on a winning run, the last thing you want to do is change a team that has been on a good run.
everything all came at once.
remy gets injured
cabaye gets sold
we field a different team in the FA cup but get knocked out
debuchy gets injured
we start loosing games
the window closes and we only see de jong
pardew gets a touchline ban at the worst of times.
now their is chaos with fans at war over who is the biggest to blame
players questioning weather or not to stay
the manager just coming out with anything in the hope he can sound positive.
this summer is going to be one of the biggest summers i’ve known.
i said to TS a few weeks back that if ashley does spend lots of money on the sort of players we need the most then pardew has got the time to prepare for a team and he has no excuse for bad results so if he has a run like this season and last then he will get the sack surely. If ashley doesn’t back him this window then it’s certain no manager would ever like to come here unless it’s a pulis or bruce type.

Comment #113In response to growing concern about his mental health Mike has released a second statement:
“This is for all the wonderful supporters of Newcastle United and purchasers of my shoddy Sports Direct clobber. In the last 7 years I have been under a tremendous strain. I have been afflicted with nutticus shrivelous which has taken a huge toll on me berries. To try to reduce the stress I have hired some of my personal friends to try to help me sort out the club. Only recently I have realized they are all w*ankers. I am going to give up my membership at Wee Winkies and seek professional help for my growing affection for budgies. Please try to forgive me all. I’ll be back stronger than ever and deal with Alan soon.

Comment #116Kevy, not a hope in hell, I’m English and proud of it, never heard anyone say anything contradictory to that, but lets not bring politics into it as it always leads to fights as you can be assured that it will lead to either Al-Qaeda or Ireland and quite simply I will refuse to discuss it.
