Sunderland Trying To Keep Jack Colback From Newcastle

Jack Colback has so far refused to sign a new deal at Sunderland, and he could become a free agent at the end of June when his contract runs out, and Newcastle are said to be in advanced negotiations to sign the midfielder who can also play at full-back.

Jack Colback – on his way to Newcastle

But news in the Mirror today that Sunderland will make another attempt to sign the 24 year-old, who is from Killingworth, and he signed for Sunderland when he was 10 years old in 2000.

Jack is said to be a Newcastle fan which wouldn’t be too surprising given he was born just outside Long Benton.

Sunderland are almost safe from relegation now after a famous 1-0 victory today at Old Trafford, and if Norwich don’t win at Chelsea tomorrow the Black Cats will be safe, and then they will need to decide which of the nine players out of contract in the summer,  they want to offer new contracts too.

They have delayed the decision until they know whether they would be in the Premier League, but that has given Newcastle some time to negotiate with Colback’s representatives and things are said to be at an advanced stage in those negotiations.

This is what the Sunderland manager Poyet has said about both Colback and Phil Bardsley, who is also out of contract at the end June:

“We had conversations with Jack and Phil, which did not work out the way anyone hoped, so we decided to put an end to those talks.”

“But the idea now is to leave it until we know for sure where we will be next season and then maybe talk again.”  “It’s a few more days to wait to know the outcome of the season – it’s not months – and it’s better for them and better for us.”

In fact it would be a shock if Norwich can beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tomorrow, so Sunderland could even be safe tomorrow, but it could be that Newcastle are too far advanced in their negotiations.

Jack has been in great form for Sunderland over their last four games, which has seen them get a fantastic 10 points – with wins at Man United today and they won at Chelsea and only narrowly failed to also win at Manchester City, and of course they crushed Cardiff City 4-0 last Sunday at home.

Swap with Anita, He is useless.

Anita passing are backwards and sideways, no creativity at all.

Just because he passes ‘backwards and sideways’ does’nt mean he is useless. He is’nt a creative player, he is a holding midfielder/right back. You don’t have to be creative in those positions as long as you do your job of keeping possession and defending-which he does well. Cabaye wasn’t very creative when he played where anita is playing. Does that make him useless aswell ?

A few years back, in the days of our expensive marquee signings, if you had told me “in the future, you will be going after a crap ginger haired midfielder from your filthiest rivals” I would have said “FCUK OFF”

Whoa, hold the horses, lads. All of the talk about mackem players jumping ship was based on them being relegated. If they survive it’s a totally different ball game.

Must say that if I were Colbeck, I’d want to be sure that I would be sure I was playing under a decent manager.

Given a choice between Poyet and Pardew, I’d be inclined to stay with Poyet at Sunderland – unless of course Ashley were to get Poyet to replace Pardew!

We actually have a Lad here who actually wants to come and Play for us?

It may not matter who the Trainer is, and the fact that some of you are slating him because he plays for the Scum speaks Volumes ! It pains me to say this, but the Scum have been turning on the Style and Poyet has more or less guaranteed their Prem Status for next year. We shall get the chance to put right next season what went terribly wrong when we have played them this! Good on them, if we get Colback, i would welcome him with open arms.

By all reports, he is a decent player and there are not few who want to come and join the Circus we have at St James?
The club is the laughing stock and the butt of jokes from the rest of the League, and this is not only due to the playing Staff and Owner !

The solution to the Problem? Well who knows but what went down yesterday won,t have helped us, and its difficult to say what will ? A few 100 walking out, is like pissing into the Wind!

We have had a bad period since the much talked about Head Butt, and P45uE,s spell on the sidelines, this has all pissed me off as much as anyone! Not only the bad form but te total OTT punishment given by the FA afterwards!
The player pushed Pardew out of the way to get the ball and take the throw-in, and was just as much at fault as our Trainer was? We won that game, by the way, and this seems to be forgotten, in all the Bull written and spoken about this since
The “so called” mass walk-out yesterday will not of helped sway the owner to alter how he runs the club, now, or in the Future.

We are still ninth and pushing for a top ten place, and safe. for now anyway, till next year!
With another trainer, the squad would play well and Ben Arfa would be in the starting line-up? The rift and bad Karma between the two, needs to be sorted out quick, one way or the other!
Cardiff were not good yesterday, and we played better in the circumstances! Anyone see us getting anything against Liverpool? A point would be nice, if not all three?

Toon Tang….Colback would be an excellent signing for this or any Newcastle team. Along with Adam Johnson (another Geordie btw) he has been Sunderlands best player and one of their best players when they battered our sorry side. What this shows is how poor we have been as a club at spotting talent/potential and developing it. When was the last time our academy produced any decent players. I’m looking forward to a summer when we offload our weaker squad players and replacing them with genuine quality like Colback is a very positive move.
