The Train – Our Man Of The Match

9:54 am, Sunday, May 4th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 11 Comments

Moussa Sissoko has made a huge difference to the Newcastle in the last couple of games, since he’s been back from that hamstring injury, and we have looked a much better side with Sissoko, Remy and Debuchy back in the starting eleven, but the chances are high that we could lose Remy, and even  Debuchy in the summer.

Moussa Sissoko – very powerful player for Newcastle

Mathieu was seen waving (goodbye?) to the Newcastle fans after the game – but that doesn’t necessarily mean he expects to leave the club in the summer, but if PSG do come in with a big offer for him he will be gone.

When you are walking around the pitch with your kids after the game – the natural thing to do is to wave at the crowd – what else would you do?

But PSG may not come in with a big bid in the summer, because the French club will soon be punished by UEFA for not abiding by the Financial Fair Play rules over the last three years.

Moussa looked very good yesterday and he really is like a train, because once he gets up to speed he’s difficult to stop.

And Moussa was unlucky not to score, and hit the post twice in the five minutes following Shola Ameobi’s headed goal after 18 minutes, which Moussa set up brilliantly with an inch-perfect right wing cross.

This 24 year-old 14 times capped French International is already a good player, and he’s played 55 times for Newcastle with 6 goals and 12 assists, and the train will only keep improving at the Tyneside club.

He’s tunred out to be a terrific acquisition by Newcastle, and now he needs to start adding more goals to his game. :D

    Ciaran.

The last blog on your ‘daily’ site’s dated 29 April.

Wouldn’t the world at large be better served you updated it rather than sniping at Ed?

All three goals from players who’ll probably be leaving in the summer.

Better offer all three lucrative contracts to stay?

    ;-)

I would not bet £1 of someone else’s money on Pardew being sacked, and I would also bet Ashleys nett spend will be approx zilch, nowt, Nada.

What the fans need to remember is

Colo is leaving for a small fee
HBA is leaving for pretty much what we paid for him
Debuchy is off…we’ll make maybe 3 million on him
Krul is going…we’ll make about 7 million on him
Santon is going back to Italy…we’ll make about 3 million on him
    Shola is being pensioned off
    Cisse is knackered
    Remy going Arsenal
Sissoko is off…we’ll make about 4 million on him

I think another 3 or 4 squad players will go as well, but at the end of the day those that are insistent on leaving will nett us about 20 million, and there’s no way he’ll spend any more than 20 million (even being wildly optimistic) on replacements.

So Ashley will simply take more of his money out of the club and Pardew will definitely be in charge to ensure we go down next summer which co-incidently will be the same time Ashley buys Rangers.

Our only saving grace will be if Ashley gets an acceptable offer but my gut feeling is he wants us to go down at the same time he buys Rangers so he can get the shirt sponsor ship on Champions League football the year after.

Three goals from players likely to leave in the summer?

Let’s hope they’re all offered lucrative contracts to stay!

What did everyone think of Zaha?

When he switched wings he looked good.

Would he be good enough to return to ManU or could we get him?

Yesterday’s was a match made in heaven. We could not have picked a softer opposition, already demoralised and devoid of talent. On the other hand, neither could Cardiff. For a long spell I thought we were about to hand it to them. The score flattered Newcastle.

jazzyp, I appreciate that Remy’s away and it’s a shame that our obvious lack of ambition and good management has shown him that he’s better off elsewhere.

As far as Shola and Saylor’s concerned, they’d provide nothing but backup.

Maybe it is time for us to thank them both for their loyal service and let them take their obvious talents to a club that could make good use of them.
