Alan Pardew must have had to put up with the most abuse for a manager at St. James Park for a long long time, although it’s hardly unusual for a manager in a bad run to get abuse from the fans, and we still have the image back in late 2007, of fans simply outraged and furious at big Sam Allardyce, with Sam looking straight ahead and chewing that gum of his furiously, as fans were hurling verbal abuse at him, and heaven knows what they were shouting, but they weren’t compliments or about the weather, that’s for sure.
😀
John Carver and Alan Pardew yesterday
Carver anxious nobody can lip read what he was saying
This is what Alan Pardew said after the game yesterday:
“While I think it’s important that we won against Cardiff, we were never going to do that and a win against Liverpool won’t do it either.”
“We need to make sure we start next season in the same place we started last season when we were challenging for Europe.”
“We need to accept the criticism and make the right calls. I was proud of the players today. I’m just looking at Liverpool now. Our confidence has been lifted today.”
“You have to be resilient. We’ve lost half the Premier League managers this year.” “It’s a thankless task and it was a difficult day. I make no bones about that.”
“We lost a very good player in January and we hope to replace him and bring in three of four others in a couple of positions.”
The big question for Mike Ashley after yesterday’s all-out assault on both the manager and the owner himself – is has Alan Pardew lost all credibility with the Newcastle fans.
There are still fans who support Alan and still some fan organizations who blame the players rather than the manager, and it is true the players have looked hopeless and have under-performed all year.
Maybe their wages should be docked?
Ashley needs to decide whether Pardew is the man to take the club forward or not – and we should get to know what that decision is within about two weeks.
And on a personal level – and this is nothing to do with football, you have to at least admit that Pardew handled the situation as well as anybody could have, and it would have been easy for him to have turned against the fans, as they turned on him – but he didn’t and kept his cool in what were very trying circumstances.
And we even won the game – but who would be a football manager these days?
🙁
And for those fans hoping Ashley will get out and sell up – there is no way Ashley will sell the club.
And if does try to sell – it could be the same outcome as the other two attempts he made – he will not get offers that are acceptable to him and meet his price of around £300M, so he can at least recuperate the money he has put into the club.
For some reason, people with the big money don’t seem to see Newcastle United as a good investment, and we’re not sure why.
Comments welcome.

actually after the initial shock of losing cabaye things were being turned around until pards moment of madness and we nose dived in form without him being on the touchline and yes it did have a negative impact thats why the f a banned him its a severe punishment

Comment #43I’ve been thinking and i know some might say on here first time for everything, anyway why didn’t this walkout protest start after the January transfer window ended when we didn’t sign players or replace cabaye. I mean pardew was afraid to come out of the dugout yesterday because he was getting booed, imagine if that was in January.
Why wait until the last home game to start the walk out protest, that would have hurt pardew in January, more walkouts, banners, booing and get out chants would have been better

Comment #45Welsh @ 43 – you are not wrong there.
If protests had started after January Sales, with a start like we had yesterday, with several thousands walking out (despite what Ed thinks) it would have gathered momentum at each crap display, his headbutt, every defeat would have racked up the dissent.
By yesterday, there would indeed have been the possibility of 10’s of thousands walking out. The summer window is going to be shit or bust for the Iluustrious Owner, his MD and P45DUE.

Comment #46Alan Pardew isn’t a bad bloke. Apart from his outbursts, he’s a decent human being underneath but surely there is no turning back now? The fans clearly don’t want him and he should seriously consider his position even if Mike Ashley keeps faith in him.
I think it was important to do something yesterday and I take my hat off to those who walked out but why couldn’t they have got the bloody time right? Surely when the 60 minute idea came up that was that? No need for the NUST to jump on the bandwagon and decide 69 minutes was more favourable? Stupid!!!! I watched it here “on the rock” live and it lacked impact because no one really knew what was going on. If everyone had gone at 60 minutes then others would have followed because it would have looked more impressive. At least the atmosphere improved and some passion returned. It’s the only game I’ve ever watched where I actually hoped we didn’t win. I’m ashamed to say it but it’s true. I wanted a draw so that the walk out would have been greater and Mike Ashley, who I’m not totally against, would consider the way he is treating supporters. The books are balanced and the club may be in a healthier position financially but we need more communication and yes some good summer signings. Let’s see some solidarity at Anfield next week when we can show the world who the best supporters in the world really are.

Comment #47Pardew will get a bonus for finishing 9th and we must endure another year of torture of Percy and Mike and ultimate relegation. A dysfunctional club not worth a carrot.

Comment #49Do you think pardew will be here in the summer because if he is then Ashley needs to spend big otherwise we will be going around in circles.
If pardew is still here with new players in then he needs to sort out his formation and tactics and put the right players in their right positions

Comment #50Pardew will be here still when the new season starts I think!
…and no I don’t think Fatty will spend big. And I don’t think that many players will be allowed to leave because we simple won’t be able to replace them.

Comment #51Welsh – you are of course assuming that P45DUE has the first clue of what “Formations, Tactics and Correct Possitions” actually are though.
So far, for the last 2-3 years I would suggest he simply hasn’t got the first idea on what MANAGING a football team really involves. He has a very limited concept of Tactics; he seems to have no idea which player is most comfortable in which position; Formations are whatever we start with – he seems to lack the ability to change to counteract the oposing team, to accomodate a substitution.
Basically, he’s bloody useless at it.

Comment #52That photo of Pardew and Carver lends itself to a speech-bubble competition.
Carver: ‘Twat!’
Pardew: ‘What’d you say?’
Carver: ‘Twat!! Four across man, it’s Twat!’

Comment #55Got to say I admire Pardew’s resolve that he’s going nowhere.
But strong or not, he’s not up to the job and he refuses to acknowledge it!
Obviously he’s not going to walk so Ashley’s got to make the decision for him.

expect more mediocre football next season, there won’t be enough investment to alter the squad enough and we’ll still have Pardwho.

Colback is likely to stay with the Scum. New contract for Gosling.
Caulker – S.Taylor scored. New contract for S.Taylor.
Shelvey – Monk says no.
Shola scored – just like a new signing.
So not sure it will be 100% but probably at least 50% will be from Ligue 1.

Comment #63Sadly pard’s doesn’t get it and it doesn’t seem Ed does either – the collapse since the turn of the year and the lack of ideas or tactics to deal with it has been all too apparent.
Losing Cabaye was a blow but he alone wasn’t responsible for the good run we went on, pard’s actually changed our playing style after he left and clearly had no idea how to get the best out of players at his disposal constantly asking players to play out of position or play a role they weren’t accustomed to, next think is we’re just hoofing it up to de jong and hoping for the best
I would have taken 9th at beginning of season but the form since Xmas is making it feel like relegation
Toon fans want to be entertained – hoofball isn’t going to cut it

Comment #64Welsh I don’t mind Krul going but in my view we MUST keep Debuchy, Sissoko and Tiote and build the team around them.
Selling Debuchy is obviously something Ashley will probably do. But if he does have a soul and wants to send a positive message he will keep him.

Comment #66I would like shelvey to sign, he would be good, this season he’s got 6 goals and 6 assists, he can pass, he can shoot and he can tackle well some times.
The thing I like about him and think hes a little bit better than cabaye is that he always get 4-5 chances a game although I don’t think my home town will sell him

Not sure it will depend on who we can bring in. If I could sell Sissoko and bring in a proper top winger I would do it. But that is going to be a lot harder than with Obertan but probably not impossible.

Comment #68The treatment of Pardew was disgusting. It was bullying on a massive scale. Many of the abusers would have been boozed up and egged on by brainless morons. The behavior was despicable and embassing. Geordies making mugs of themselves across the nation. Fouled mouthed thugs in a black and whiteshirt goaded by unelected numpties on fanzines. Comment #70Tommo, do you suggest penning a letter the the owner to show your displeasure at Pardew? Straight in the bin with that one.
Pardew can’t be shouted at but he can lie to the fans daily and drag the club down through his own incompetence and lack of management skills? Oh yeah, push linesman, nastily swear at other managers and headbutt a player as well.
The parasite deserves all the verbals he gets and a whole lot more until he vacates his position.

Comment #72LR 32. We take the criticism as read. But Conducting ourselves with decorum and dignity will speak vulunes for the Geordie Nation rather than adopting thuggish behavior. Would you walk by someone being verbally abused and humiliated by a large hostile crowd? I would not. There are other ways to make a point without compromising your humility. What we saw was no better than the offerings from the Jeremy Kyle show. Surely we are better than that and can rise above that gutter lever. Apparently not and it was left to the away fans to show dignity despite us sending then down.
