Newcastle Could Sign One Of These Top Young English Wingers

There was news today that Newcastle are still interested in Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha, who has been on loan at Cardiff City since January, and will very likely leave the Manchester club this summer, after a very disappointing first season at the club.

tom ince balckpool 99

Tom Ince – Blackpool winger a free agent in summer

Alan Pardew has been keen on the winger over the last two years, and there’s no doubt he has very good skills, but he’s a bit like one of our current wingers – Hatem Ben Arfa – and a strong part of his game is not tracking back to help out the defense.

It’s looking like Ben Arfa will leave this summer, certainly if Alan Pardew remains on as manager, and Newcastle want to sign a lot more British players, so Zaha fits the bill, and he is still only 21 years old, and would cost around £7M.

And another good English youngster is 22 year-old Blackpool winger Tom Ince, who came on for Crystal Palace as a substitute in that amazing game at Selhurst Park against Liverpool last night.

We still cannot believe that for the first time since 1990 Liverpool gave up a 3-0 lead in the league – and what a time to drop two points.

Ton Ince’s Blackpool contract runs out in the summer,  and he will become a free agent,  but any club that signs him will have to pay Blackpool a compensation fee, which could be as much as £5M.

Tom can score goals too, and is more of a hard-working winger than  Zaha, so maybe he would be a better choice?

£5M shouldn’t be a deterrent to Newcastle in the summer, because our finances are in excellent shape, and if there was ever a time for owner Mike Ashley to spend big money at Newcastle, it is this summer.

We should be getting at least £80M form the Premier League later this month for finishing in at least 10th place, and we still have the £20M from the Yohan Cabaye sale – and of course we don’t have to spend it all – and should still try to get some good deals.

But we may have to pay a little over the odds to get our transfer targets this summer, and for the good of the club – we need to do that when its appropriate – but we would be stupid to hold out simply because the fee is slightly higher than Mike Ashley wants to pay.

Either one of Wilfried Zaha or Tom Ince would be a good signing, but we’d probably go for Tom Ince.

What do you think?

scottoon, I now send you a bill for the box of tissue’s which I have just used, that was heartfelt bonny lad and much appreiciated, you bleed black and white like all us us, the problem is getting the message through, we have the likes of Rotonda Heights and so forth who are obsessed with Alan Pardew, personally I feel that he has done a great job under the circumstances but now I feel he has lost the dressing room and due to no fault of his own I now feel he should go, but that will never solve the problem will it, Jose Mourinho would fail if as in January we sell our best player to avoid Europa league football which nearly took us down the season prior to this, if the owner is frightened of European football and how it can affect his Sky tv money due to possibly getting relegated then what chance has any manager got.

We’ve been doing this, to our detriment, all of Ashley’s reign. Don’t think much will change

zaha is no improvement on arfa imo infact he’s slightly worse than arfa so no point in getting him.

ince i’d <3 as he'd be a huge improvement even though he's yet to get to grips with the prem.

which if rumours are to be believed could leave us with 55mil for 2 strikers a cb and a acm at the least.

That’s what happened to Liverpool. They signed all of these poor English players and ended up going downhill. Andy Carroll for £35m was a joke.

As we all know Pards will only bring in top, top players to the club. He has a huge transfer budget of spare change he has been amassing for months now. Meanwhile Mike is convinced that we will be a solid 17th place club next season without any spending at all! Full story to follow.

    Cheers nemo ,
I doubt it’ll ever materialise into anything but the reaction of some is already that he’d be no good as a manager. I do think people expectations of the manager we can get is totally the opposite to mine,,
I do think pards has had his day but people such as de boer in my opinion wouldn’t even consider the job … Who ever gets the job if pards goes needs to be given time even if it Is another nobody again .

More comments from wor Mike: “Why struggle against the evil agents out there when we can already be a 17th place club with what we have? The summer window is not the time to spend anyway. I have important pissups to organize on the yacht. There will be plenty of time to panic in the January window.”

Considering we made a small profit last year, the Cabaye money and the extra revenue from TV and league finish, which inour case will be nearer 40m than 30m, there should be a surplus of around 70m sloshing around. The only questions left are, given the Fat Controller believes the club owes him personally, how much of that surplus will be portioned out for transfer and how much will go to service the ‘debt’? I hope there’s a minimum of 50m to spend. Secondly, who will be in charge to spend the money made available – please don’t allow Pardwho to squander this oasis of cash at our disposal.

Gt , I was watching Gateshead get through to the final, I felt proud of them, and I tell you what Gary Mills has got them playing football, possibly another Swansea on the horizon, thats what they done, when it came to hoofball specialists they couldn’t afford it so they they went for footballers who couldn’t quite make it at prem level but tried to pass there way out of where they were and it succeeded, Gary Mills is doing the same for Gateshead, good for him, I really do hope that he succeeds.

I’m hearing a lot of anti-NUFC comments down here thanks to the actions of a minority of fans last weekend. They simply don’t get why fans are so angry when we’ve risen from 16th to 9th and frankly worse things have happened to other PL clubs this season without the same reaction.

I remember in the relegation year saying to a mate that in a strange way the relegation might be the best thing that could happen…clear out the dead wood and get back to having something tangible to play for. Not sure now what we are playing for, and I think that is the mindset that the players have. But a clear out in the summer wont help cause the deadwood occupies the top floor offices. It’s not like the players we have lack passion and heart….they lack direction and they will never get it from the likes of Pardew and Ashley. They have to go.

The window opens officially on June 1st in the UK, parts of mainland Europe are later. It is largely irrelevant as the season is over. A lot of business will be done before the window opens, but confirmation dates and authorisation from FIFA will happen on the 1st.

I thought the window was July and August Lilongwe mate? Is it because of the world cup? It doesn’t give wor Alan much time to accumulate more pocket change to spend on top, top players. I’m quite concerned now. 😯

I really don’t think it matters when the transfer window opens. Realistically, business can be done at any time of the year, it’s just that they can only be registered in the windows. I’d like to see a few players involved before pre-season though so that’s the important date for me.

scottoon, what we need is a new owner who will try to maximise our potential, sadly I feel that Ashley does know our potential and will not sell it on the cheap, actuaIly only a top price offer will be accepted, so its down to pure luck, who will be the next multi billion owner to purchase a toy, and will it be us.

The rules are the transfer window between seasons can last a maximum of 12 weeks. Actually, having double checked this years is scheduled to start on the 9th June, but it always starts in June for the UK.

We have been so poor in the second half of the season, but again I don’t blame the players. Pardew has lost the dressing room. He mismanages his players. The top brass have told players with aspirations and ambition that those aspirations and ambitions won’t be supported. Can you, as a player, imagine the example you have is a gaffer who puts the nut on another player? How’s that for leadership and setting an example?

I think it does. I think it helps to check yourself once in a while and see how others see it. Blackburn fans were embarrassing a few years ago yet Cardiff and Hull went through off the field mess this year and haven’t protested like some of our fans.

I don’t like being a fan of a club when people are insulting our fans for being unrealistic, impetuous and ungrateful.

The reason the supporters are protesting is that we’re a crap side now TDS mate. Relegation form for the entire second half of the season. And that after 7 years of Ashley bollocks. If anybody asks, tell them that is the reason. Have them look at a few stats from January on and they will no longer be confused.
