Wilfried Zaha had a good game for Cardiff City on Saturday against Newcastle, and the on-loan striker from Manchester United has had a terrible first full season at the Red Devils, and could be sold in the summer.
Wilfried Zaha – in action for Manchester United last year
So it’s not too surprising that Newcastle, who were interested in the player when he was playing so well at Crystal Palace, may go after the winger this summer, with the price said to be around £7M.
And Newcastle lack flair players and we need to bring some creative players in this summer, and the ones we do have – like Ben Arfa for example – are not even in the squad these days.
The Chronicle is reporting that Alan Pardew, who has always been keen on the winger, is keen on bringing him in this summer, although he has had a hard job winning a starting position at Cardiff, who are the bottom of the league side and will be relegated.
It will be a risk to sign Wilfred, but there’s no doubt he has great ability and skill, but the question is whether Newcastle get the best out of this creative player?
It’s something we could only do in short spells with Hatem Ben Arfa, who now looks set to leave Newcastle in the summer, and that’s certainly true if Alan Pardew stays on as manager.
Zaha has played 4 times for Manchester United this season, and while art Cardiff on loan he has 11 appearances, mostly as a substitute, and while he was at Palace he played 143 times with 18 goals in his last three seasons there.
We still hope Newcastle keep Ben Arfa, because even if we do sign Zaha, he’s completely unproven in the Premier League.
What do you think?

Comment #41If we are looking at picking up players from Man U that are going to be surplus during their spending spree I’d prefer us to get Nick Powell.

That’s a real left field punt but could actually be really inspired. They’d certainly have a hell of a lot of contacts both in Spain and Argentina. The more I think about it, the more I like it.Where have you heard this?

Would love to see current crop of players (as is) coached by a proper manager. Are they so crap as a whole or is it the coaching?

Comment #48Well I’ve avoided commenting over the weekend to allow the hysteria to calm down.
I was at the match on Saturday and I was surprised by the level of animosity directed towards Pardew (not Ashley). To my mind this would have been much more effective than any campaigns or walkouts and have left the regime in no doubt as to how the fans feel. For this reason I didn’t walk out and I also stayed on at the end for the players ‘walk about’. I thought this was just about deserved – Yes we have been deadful recently but there were some excellent performances (especially away) first half of the season.
As for the football 3 0 flattered us but we were the better team (just) and the toxic atmosphere made it difficult.

Comment #49Sammy will be good. Pardew can keep yelling at him to defend and he will turn a deaf ear to him. Then ofcourse he will stop playing him.

Comment #52So what was to blame for the other pathetic performances at home this season? It’s not like we’ve had a toxic atmosphere all season as the place has been a graveyard for the most part.

Comment #62Just find the whole “toxic atmosphere didn’t help” line to be Pardew guff that we should challenge at every opportunity. Our players are professionals and know that the atmosphere was less directed at them and more directed at the muppets running our club.

Comment #63Still quite rate Neil Taylor at swansea. Vorm is a great keeper too! Think surely Bony must be a 18-20m player now? Il hold my hands up, didn’t think hed cut it but hes done great!
Shelvey has potential to be a big player, but under our current staff we don’t develop potential so whats the point! Aslong as pardews in charge we should stick to 27-29 year olds that are at their peak. Younger players just go backwards here

Comment #66Think one of the things pardew gets wrong is partnerships. When Coloccini plays he links best with taylor whereas willo lools better with MYM. On the right i thought Debuchy links best with Gouffran and worst with HBA.
Up top, i don’t think Remy links well with anyone. For me De Jong and Cisse looked like a partnership could develop, when both played we created alot more chances than with Remy just the finishing was woeful. Remember Cisse missing 3 clear cut chances when up with de jong per game whereas the who team didnt have 3 chances when they weren’t playing.
Another thing i think should have been tried is haidara at left wing. He frequently played there in france aswell as a wing back in a 3-5-2. Can whip a ball in and is quick!

nick powel is a good shout
danny ings 26 goals this season
I wouldn’t mind zaha and mosses both did very well before there moves to the top clubs, both should have stayed put for the extra year English players don’t seem to learn either go for the mid table prem team and get games of goto the top team bench warm for a season then get loaned out, both will have a point to prove, but it does depend on price
but you do worry is pards the man to bring the best out of these players
also if pards is the man to lead us next season why keep ben arfa love him or hate him for his own career he needs to move I hope he moves on and forfills his potential but will he ?

Comment #69Wow so Jonas as manager? He was just bitchin bout inexperienced managers at Norwich.
I like him as a personality. Met him on a job once, was a very smiley cheerful guy, know nothing on his philosophies on the game though and surely hes got playing time left in him?
Personally would have kept him this season as he plays with heart! Something alot of our other players lack! Would have taken him in midfield over Gosling

Comment #71Ciaran @62 – As you never go to matches I don’t see how you are in a position to comment. However I can tell you that was definitely the most hostile atmosphere that I have ever experienced by home fans (especially for last home match of the season which is normally like a party). It is not a Pardew type excuse to say that it must have effected the players – after all they are only human.

Comment #75The more I think about it , I think Jonas and Colo would be a very exciting managerial combo and inspired choice if it came off.
Think about it, both young, both current internationals with vast international experience of modern football, masses of contacts contacts throughout Spain and Latin America and most of all they are not Pardew!
Do we really want another Brit B lister to provide more sterile football. I like the sound of this more and more!! Chances of it happening are zilch sadly.
