Magpies Could Have Problems Getting Top Targets To Tyneside

We are fairly confident that Mike Ashley will give out some sizable transfer funds, so that Newcastle can rebuild their squad in the summer, whoever the manager is, but one thing that worries us just a little bit, is if we can get our top targets to the club.

mike ashley

Mike Ashley – top 10 good enough for Newcastle?

As usual we have already been linked with a number of transfer targets this summer, and some of them look good, and there is an emphasis on British players, as the large French contingent is likely to be reduced this summer,  with the likes of Loic Remy, Ben Arfa, Gabby Santon, Sylvain Marveaux and Romain Amalfitano all likely to leave, and follow Yohan Cabaye out of the club.

But Newcastle these days are only a top ten side, and it will be very interesting to see what our goals are for next season – maybe top eight or even top six, or will owner Mike Ashley be satisfied with a top half finish and avoid any relegation fight?

If it’s top ten again next season, that wouldn’t be too surprising, and would only validate that Mike has very little ambition for Newcastle United, but what we should be aiming for is top six, because  top six is what we need after two (very) disappointing seasons.

Top players want to go to top clubs, and top clubs play in Europe, and the really top clubs play in the Champions League every season.

Newcastle are not a top club these days, and therefore if a top club is also after one of our transfer targets in the summer, we probably have little chance of getting the player to the Tyneside club.

That’s a side effect of what happens when the owner has limited ambition, and that manifests itself in not playing in European competition,.

And it’s all very sad – but also all so very true. 🙁

its not sad its fantastic pardew struggles without a few quality players so theres a strong possibility of relegation and that would be the only way to get the parasite to sell
    bring it on 🙂

    If only:

    Staff out:
    Alan P45due
    John Carver
    Steve Stone

    Staff in:
Frank de Boer – First team manager
    Dennis Bergkamp – Assistant manager
Jaap Stam – First team coach

    Players out:
    Krul – £15,000,000
    Debuchy – £9,000,000
    Taylor – £3,000,000
    Coloccini £1,000,000
    Gosling – FREE
    Newton – FREE
    Ferguson – £500,000
    Amalfitano – £500,000
    Jonas – £3,000,000
    Obertan – £2,000,000
    Marveaux – £3,000,000
    Amoebi – FREE
Cisse – £6,000,000 (at end of his injury
    Remy – End of loan
de Jong – End of loan
    Total in: £43,000,000

    Players in:
    Forster – £5,500,000
    Richards – £5,000,000
    Lascelles – £4,500,000
    Siem de Jong – £8,000,000
    Cabella – £8,000,000
    Zaha – £6,000,000
    Ince – £4,000,000
    Hernandez – £9,000,000

    First team:
    Gk – Forster
    Rb – Richards
    Cb – Lascelles
    Cb – M’Biwa
    Lb – Haidara
    Dm – Tiote
    Cm – Sissoko
    Cm – Anita
    Cf – de Jong
    Rw – Ben Arfa
    Lw – Cabella

I think under de Boer players like Streete, Tavernier, Abeid, Bigirimana, Aarons, Sammy, Campbell and Armstrong would thrive under him.

If we are still under pardew, the only thing i can hope under him is that he buys flair players and keeps ben arfa etc. and goes back to that 4-3-3 false 9 that we had against Liverpool when we drew 2-2, and that first half before m’biwa got sent off we played some very good football and the 4-2-3-1 with the catalyst that was cabaye behind the striker. We don’t want to see players like Gutierrez or Gouffran in the team we want players like Ben Arfa and Cabaye.

I don’t think Villa would sell anybody to us unless they get relegated or board does something stupid – like swap Ben-arfa.

    LOL – really?

Less will be spent on recruitment, than has been taken in via sales and getting players off the wage bill.

Contraction, not expansion is how the funds outlay goes.

Not much about the game today?

    Says it all really:

Well I don’t know why I came here tonight,
I got the feeling that something ain’t right,
I’m so scared in case I fall off my chair,
And I’m wondering how I’ll get down the stairs,
Clowns to the left of me,
Jokers to the right, here I am,
Stuck in the middle with you,
Stuck in the middle with you.

    HD/Lilongwe from previous

Think Delph is massively in Lamberts plans for next season and part if the long term future there, can’t see it but be a good signing
Weismann though surely if we wanted him we would if moved last season when his contract was expiring?

    Good morning folks.

Personally I’m glad that people are at the very least discussing the merits of joining NUST. As a board member I get a very close view to some of the work that we are doing, and some of the plans we have for the future and I would love to divulge this information, but sadly a lot of the work that is done is with the long-term in mind, therefore confidentiality is key. I am sure many of you will understand this.

I am very excited about some of the things that are being done, and am proud to see NUST be very active on the key issues – namely the issue of the land-sale by the back of the Gallowgate, which is an issue that NUST broke to the press, and are continuing to work hard on to see a resolution for our fans that ensures SJP is not locked into its current capacity forever, this is of the utmost importance short term.

I don’t want anyone to feel strong-armed into joining our organisation, however what I will say is that for the relatively small fee of £10 per year, you are buying into an organisation that will represent you more than Mike Ashley ever has done. An organisation that is keen on bringing all NUFC fans together so we can all have a share and a say in the club we love.

I think that one day we will succeed, but we need everyone’s help in order to do that. The only way we can fight Mike Ashley is by uniting under a common cause. Joining NUST is but one way of showing your disillusion with Mike Ashley, however that is not to say it is the only way to do so.

Jesper, I hope you come to the conclusion that NUST is right for you, and I hope others take the same step.

On the game today? Think we’ll get a pasting
Pardew has told us we will basically set up to contain, park the bus and try to mount some form of counter attack

Given are only pace is Sissoko and he normally get isolated they should cut are counters out pretty easily
At the back there’s no communication, at all, so letting Liverpool queue up to have chances is asking for trouble

Last game for a lot of players today i think….

…I just want to be sure and I want it to mean something. But apparently I cannot have an opinion about the matters Newcastle before I sign up (and I don’t want tit to be about that)

I might have a couple of questions for you at some point. Hope that is alright?

Nope, not another doppleganger! Don’t worry! Been debating whether to take a more confirmed hiatus from writing about the club because I can’t bring myself to speak about transfer speculation or performances because the football side of NUFC is becoming increasingly pointless as nothing will really change until Ashley is gone. I will still write the odd article, but not with any regularity.

As for Pards? He’s going to get a serious amount of abuse, wonder if he’ll blame the unrest for the inevitable pasting we’ll get today?

    Jesper

Said to me Dad that we would surprise everyone and score 3, he replied it would not be beyond us. I can’t really see us holding them back from scoring but no doubt Pardew will be following Mourinhos lead, spoil, press and look for a high ball break. Unfortunately the back line will be more vulnerable and more so after conceding.

Himanshu Dhingra – that DVD should be used by UEFA to help train coaches get their badges. They could put it in the collection of ‘examples of bad coaching & management.’

When it is out of date – it could be put in a poundland bargain bin, renamed ‘500 corners without a goal.’

I think his cockiness stems from the fact that he is relatively certain that Ashley will not sack him. No manager who has went on as horrendous a run of form as we have would be so up himself unless he knew his job is safe. Regardless the abuse should rain down on him to let him know that he no longer has our support. The buck is then on Ashley, does he keep his puppet or do something perceivably positive for the fans?
