Some comments from Newcastle manager Alan Pardew after the game today, where Newcastle found a way to lose the game 2-1 – our seventh defeat in the last eight league games, and after doing well and leading 1-0 at half time from an own goal by Martin Skrtel, we conceded two goals in the 63rd and 65th minutes from set plays.
Alan Pardew – on the touchline today at Anfield
Shola Ameobi was probably playing his last game for Newcastle, and he was bizarrely sent off by referee Phil Dowd, when the 32 year-old picked up two quick yellow cards, and was sent off after 66 minutes.
Alan Pardew defended his center forward and it may be that Newcastle appeal the sending off – in fact they should do that.
This is some of what the Newcastle manager said after the game:
“We had a good game plan. Perhaps we were slightly unfortunate not to get the second goal when Gouff was one on one.¨ “The ref played a part in my view in the second half.¨
“He should have managed the game a lot better than he did. And we conceded two goals.¨ “He had a part in the first one by Vurnon Anita. Then there was a foul from Agger on Shola.¨
“Liverpool have had a fantastic season and they showed their quality. If you give too many set plays away it will hurt you.¨ “Unfortunately we didn’t quite do as well as we should have.”
In fact the game plan was good, and it was executed very well by Newcastle until the second half, when we started to concede far too many free kicks just outside the box, and we eventually paid for those fouls.
Newcastle have now lost 14 of our last 20 league games and we finished 10th, which is a six place improvement on last season, and the second best we have ever finished in the Premier League under Mike Ashley, and its also the second best points total – 49 – over the last seven seasons that Ashley has been in charge.
But that just shows how unsuccessful Mike Ashley has been at running the Newcastle club.
Comments welcome.

Lets replace Pardew with some Foreign guy ive never heard of thats done fulham & west brom the world of good. only 7 teams won more games than us this season it was a dissapointing end to the season but the players have to take the share of the blame various systems were tried yet they did not respond and its not as if they are not well paid

Comment #47Big Papa Cisse – I now have a rather disturbing image of one of those oversized SD mugs with Pardew’s crown jewels in it sitting on Mike’s desk.
Who the hell needs a brew that big anyway? those things are ridiculous.

Comment #48Forget the talk about pardew being replaced,
MA is happy with a mid table PL finish…
MA won’t sack pardew as he will have to put his hands in his pocket…
Which self respecting quality manager would come to NUFC with MA in charge…
MA doesn’t care about the club or indeed the fans, he just cares about his SD advertising at the ground and picking up the cash that keeps coming into the club, NUFC is now financially sound and the 20th richest clubs, he will just keep it ticking over and lining his pockets…

with respect you’re talking ……….!
people spend a lot of hard earned and are sick of mediocrity and s–t to watch negative football.
Our manager is an oaf who bad mouthed a well respected manager he could only ever dream of being as good as and headbutts a player. From SBR to Pardew, how low can you fall?
We don’t have the best squad but certainly not the worst by any stretch but we have a manager with no plan B whatsoever when others have a plan A, B, C and D.

Do you think that Pardew is the only manager out there who has ever had to work under these circumstances?
Moyes worked with very little money at Everton and was forced to sell his best players, Galtier the exact same and Mackay worked for an even bigger nutcase than Ashley, any one of these three would be better suited at NUFC as all are proven to improve players, develop youngsters and work with little money

You mean the spurs result where Krul was MoM and made a prem record for the saves he made, Yeah we were fantastic.
Who hasn`t had a result v Manure this season.
Thats four you`ve picked out but you can`t count spurs as we were abysmal bar for Krul.
What about the stat that weve lost 38 games in two seasons someone posted.

You got it spot on about Mr Ashley staying away from games. There is no compulsion for owners to attend matches.
Many actually do turn up on a regular basis just to keep tabs on their investment. Our owner merely glances at the league table once a week to make sure there is no danger of being back in a relegation scrap and the danger of losing all that money to advertise his real interest.
We know Mr Ashley is a gambler, but can you imagine if we have a poor start to next season followed by a similar nose dive post boxing day. He won’t be able to bring in extra players after the January window closes.
Who will point Mr Ashley in the right direction in the close season. A lot of the pundits seem to suggest he has deliberately surrounded himself with “yes” men to avoid confrontations.
This season is now in the record books. We have the close season for Mr Ashley to reflect on all the mistakes he has made at NUFC.
At least Mr Ashley can quickly rectify things by making decent funds available and getting in someone who will get the best out of the new and existing players.
I wait with baited breath.

I never said we would get de boer or anyone good
we all know we won’t get anyone good. it was a hypothetical wish list, although i was encouraged by the rumours of the st etienne manager coming.
But if your only reason for keeping a spectacularly failing pardew is the fear we could get someone even worse, it’s pretty lame.

Comment #69Herve Renard would be the best choice. He took Sochaux when the club was already doomed, so dont judge him on this season, but he s doing an amazing job and he loves flair players. I think we can have him, because the other names you lads are mentioning will never come here.

So Moyes has just got £6 million? So what?
Why would i want Mackay? Because i think he’d do a better job than Pardew as for Galtier, he has a proven track record of bringing through young players and has made St. Etienne £80 million + in his time there while still taking the club forward with little spending

Ian hasn’t posted in a while. But Carl is back.
Which is a shame.
Because I wanted to ask Ian how it was that the happy band of away supporters turned so sour.
Remember how they spread the Gospel about Ashley and Pardew in the pubs? To opposition fans who wished Ash and Pards were running their clubs? Green-eyed jealousy it was.
Luckily, Ian was there at every match to record it all.
I think he was trying to suggest recently that “sensible” supporters had been replaced by uncouth toughs on the bus trips.
Though where they got the tickets from so suddenly, only he has the insight to say.

Comment #77course he did rotonda because they didn’t want him to leave!!
but in your “stats!” it was his fault!! not the fact that he’d brought them up and by using youth players to do it!
and my whole point btw is there won’t be a new up and coming manager coming in unless he knows ashley
plus any manager that comes in will be on his own so no back room staff wich is in the promote from within statement!
so no foriegners full stop unless we nab west broms or fulhams managers that worked out so well

You deign to be my friend, I’m honoured. No, the whole point for god knows how many times is this.
Everton have no money but they have a manager who plays the right way, is clever in the loan market, copes with the loss of a star player and says ”Everton should be in Europe”.
Above all he is a modest, engaging man with humility.
We have a manager who plays negative, containing football, has no plan B and can’t cope and he says ” thank god we’re not in Europe”. Pardew is an arrogant oaf with no class.
That my friend is the point. I really hope you finally take this on board and digest it as it so boring when people are always in a defensive, closed mind default position.
