Steven Taylor, Haidara And Shola Ameobi Start – Loic Remy Missing

Liverpool_FC.svgnufc emblem

Some surprises in the starting line-up today with Loic Remy missing the final game of the season, having picked up a knock in training, and Shola Ameobi comes in up front, so we’ll have some difficulty scoring goals, with Newcastle having scored only one goal in the previous 12 games Remy has missed this season.

Liverpool have Premier League Player of the Season Luis Suarez starting with Daniel Sturridge up front, and former Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson returns from a three match suspension..

Teams:

Liverpool: (4-3-3): Simon Mignolet; Glen Johnson, Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger, Jon Flanagan; Jordan Henderson, Steven Gerrard (c), Joe Allen; Raheem Sterling, Luis Suarez, Daniel Sturridge
Substitutes: Brad Jones, Kolo Toure, Mamadou Sakho, Aly Cissokho, Lucas, Philippe Coutinho, Iago Aspas

Newcastle (4-4-1-1): Tim Krul; Steven Taylor, Mike Williamson, Fabricio Coloccini, Massadio Haidara; Mathieu Debuchy, Vurnon Anita, Cheick Tiote, Yoan Gouffran; Moussa Sissoko; Shola Ameobi
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, Davide Santon, Paul Dummett, Lubomir Satka, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, Sammy Ameobi, Luuk de Jong

Referee: Phil Dowd (Staffordshire)

We don’t expect too much out of this game today at Anfield, and of course we haven’t won there since 1994, so we are just hoping we can come out today with a decent enough result.

A key to the game is how long can our defense hold out before conceding the first goal – as we said we are not too confident today.

Comments welcome.

5 or 6 nil on the cards. No goals in that team what a way to the season!

18 visits not one win 15 defeats and 3 draws. Will 19 be lucky today? 3-0 to the Toon!

Shocking! Where’s benny again? Or remy? Probably had an agreement where he doesn’t play in the last game and we don’t pay him lol! Wouldn’t surprise me in the fcuking slightest with our joke/underhand dealings

Nine defenders tells you everything you need to know about this manager who always plays on the front foot

Phil Dowd is the referee. … Whats the betting the match will be all about him !
Cant stand the bloke, his NVC’s just sum him up, loves himself and has that smug look on his face !!!!
Dont recall us ever doing well with him officiating.

Could be messy today…going for goalless draw 😉

Dear me. Anyone think we can do a Chelsea and keep it tight at the back and counter at breakneck speed?

    Apologies repost.
I think we’re in for a walloping today. Percy will probably pack the midfield. This is a decent tactic (as per Chelsea v Liverpool) but Chelsea have the best defence in the league and we certainly do not.
We’ll probably hang on as best we can and the the floodgates will open/the predictable collapse will ensue. The potential today is for Sturridge and the Uruguayan rat face to get a hat trick (a piece).
Poor old Mr T. will be running his guts out for nothing. There is a massive worldwide audience today to see us reduced to a pub team standard.

laughing my tts off here .

I’m sure he either wants the sack or Ashley is picking the team.

cos he is proving yet again why he is inept at his job

nothing to gain , play the kids you shmuck, young AC would have been a far better choice , at least he is mobile

starting to think pardew and shola are an item 😉

Wow really going for the win again!!

    Borrowed post below:-

why did Ashley employ a manager with such a track record of failure & why has he persisted with Pardew after last season’s poor performance & narrow escape from relegation & the embarrassment he has brought to the club with his inability to control himself (headbutting Hull player, pushing over linesman, verbally abusing Pelligrini.)

Guvnor – unfortunately, the ‘Poo are going to come at us like a tidal wave, score for fun, until they hear Shitty are 3-0 up.

Then they will come after us, just for the sheer pleasure it will give their fans – if we can keep the score to around 5-0 we will have done well lol.

ooh dear oh dear. Any one with half a brain would play Gouffran up top and start Sammy on the left. But oh no Shola starts yet again.

Nice to see Satka on the bench but can see this being another 4 or 5 nil.

I see it as 3-5-1-1 either way the lads are in for a rough afternoon. Can accept a defeat as long as they’ve given their all. Then again it’s the last game, if they’re 1-0 up with 5 to play n west ham are winning, do they sit back or go for a killer 2nd to try n win the title? We relegated Cardiff why can’t we be a decider in the title? 2-1 the Toon! Dare to believe

Chins up lads! This is a big day!

    1. We can have a say in the title race.

    2. Could be Pardew’s last game.

    3. Almost definitely this is Shola’s last EVER game for us!

I for one am happy as Larry. Gonna have a shot every time Shola breaks into a jog.

This is from the official website!

4-4-1-1 with debuchy possibly on the right wing! WTF IS THIS SHIT PARDSPEW? I hope them banners and chants continue today, please please please!

Following last weekend’s 3-0 home victory over Cardiff City, defenders Massadio Haidara and Steven Taylor return to the Magpies’ team, replacing Paul Dummett and injured 14-goal leading scorer Loic Remy .

It means a slight reshuffle in formation for United, who are expected to start in a 4-4-1-1 formation, with goalkeeper Tim Krul behind a back four of Taylor, Mike Williamson , captain Fabricio Coloccini and Haidara.

Mathieu Debuchy could be deployed on the right-hand side of midfield, with Yoan Gouffran on the opposite flank and Cheick Tiote and Vurnon Anita patrolling the centre of the park.

Moussa Sissoko is expected to start in the number ten role, just off lone front man Shola Ameobi , who has netted twice in his last three appearances for the Magpies.
