Newcastle Interested In Top Young German Defender

11:09 pm, Monday, May 12th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 15 Comments

News tonight that Newcastle are interested in 21 year-old Stuttgart defender Antonio Rudiger, who was born in Berlin and has played for all the German Youth sides including 10 times for the German U21 team.

Antonio Rüdiger

Antonio Rudiger – 21 year-old Stuttgart defender

The news is bring reported in the Mail and it;s though that Newcastle are looking for defenders this summer, since our goals against record last season of 59 wasn’t too much better than last year when it was 65 – the worst ever in the Premier league.

The 6’3″ right footed center-back was at Borrusia Dortmund from 2008 until 2011 when he joined Stuttgart.

Rudiger made his Bundesliga debut for Stuttgart’s first team in a home match against Borussia Monchengladbach in January 2012, at the age of 18, and he made his first appearance in the Europa League in October 2012 against Molde FK, when he was 19.

He played 30 times with two goals for Stuttgart last season, and in total has played for the German club 60 times.

He just turned 21 in March, so he perfectly fits the profile of players Newcastle want to sign – top young players whose best days are ahead of them, and who can improve big time at Newcastle with the right coaching.

This lad looks alike a top young player, from what we can tell.

Comments welcome.

I hope pardew with out a dof at the club wont end up in sole control of what ever amount we have to spend
(pretty sure it wont be 60m) he needs to hand a list to carr of what he wants and let carr do the shopping

Not rumours no more its true.

Alan Pardew not getting sacked because Mike Ashley has agreed it was Joe Kinnears fault for massive part of it… Absolute joke.

    And for the fans:

“However, season-ticket renewals have not dropped off, despite threats fans would boycott games next season if Pardew remained. The club’s sponsors have also resisted the temptation to agitate for a new manager”.

Well there you go, fans are happy and the talk about season tickets falling down in majority was a talk in thin air.

Fans are responsible for this as most are already re-newing there season tickets and buying merchandise.

I officially wipe NUFC out of my heart and blood untill Pardew is gone.

    Bye :( .

Hang on a second and think about this. Pardew is a defensive manager and has still leaked in 60 goals in average per season for the 3 full seasons he’s in charge. I bet if we had another coach, say for example Christophe Galtier with the same group of players. We wont concede that many goals and endure a frustrating season.

In our case, the squad is good enough to challenge top 6 or 4, its the manager and his tactics which is letting the team down

Before I will leave, just want to say, to the fans that are showing the fight with protests, boycotts I hope you continue and fellow fans will only join you.

But at such an amazing time to recruit very good managers that are out of the game or also available it is hurting me and my heart and at young age I am having serious heart pains.

It was nice talking to the majority and enjoying banter, debates and also some fights.

Good luck fellow fans, I wish you the best.

    TurkishFan101 off. :)

    60 million ?????????

That will include wages for the full 4-5 year contracts handed out, Agents fees, signing on fees, petrol for airport transfers + drivers tip

    £ 60 million ?, what a laugh .

No doubt a ploy to trick fans into buying season tickets if you ask me .

  • 13 thai-mag // May 12, 2014 at 11:29 PM

60 million, we should get at least 3 free transfer’s for that, because everyone knows how expensive they are

  • 14 Blofal // May 12, 2014 at 11:30 PM

With half the sqaud leaving £60m isn’t much.

However if it is £60m on top of player sales then that could be exciting.

People put a £9m tag on Debuchy but he is worth at least £15m or more given the clubs linked with him. We don’t have to and shouldn’t let him go. Another £10m for Krul. Then Ben Arfa, Marveaux, Obertan and Gutierrez would bring at least another £10m between them.

If it is all reinvested then it is going to be a massive window.

When Llambias was sacked,Kinnear appointed, kinnear resigned…how many papers predicted these things days before…As far as I remember they were all surprises..
