Top Young Striker Could Be First Newcastle Signing

The Express are again reporting today that Newcastle United are interested in signing top young German U21 International Pierre-Michel Lasogga of Hertha Berlin, and that the lad seems to want to join Newcastle.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga

Pierre-Michel Lasogga – Newcastle closing in on 22 year-old

The German youngster has just finished an excellent season at Hamburg where he played 20 times and scored 13 goals, and it seems that Newcastle made an early move for the 6’3″ striker this summer and are in the driver’s seat at the moment.

Lasogga perfectly fits the profile of very good up-and-coming players that Mike Ashley wants to bring to Tyneside, and there;s news that Lassoga is interested in moving to Tyneside.

If Lee Charnley can get the job done this would be the first German we have had at the club since we signed German International central midfielder Dietmar Hamann back in 1998, and Didier only played one season on Tyneside before joining Liverpool.

Maybe Lasogga will be Newcastle’s first summer signing, but he would cost as much £10M, and there have been cases before where Newcastle were in the lead for a player but balked at the price.

But if we can get him he looks to be an excellent acquisition but other clubs – like Everton – are also said to be interested in signing the 6’3″ German striker.

But with Loic Remy leaving Newcastle after his loan spell ends, we desperately need somebody who can put the ball in the back of the net, and Pierre-Michel seems to fit the bill.

Comments welcome.

Never going to happen, not unless Pardrew wants to play him at centre back.

Ed…please stop putting up rubbish like this…when was the last time we paid that kind of money for anyone…it’s not in the plan…it’s not in scope…he’s clearly a decent player who wants to progress his career so why would he want to lead the line of team full of plodders who won’t get past the half way line to give him the ball

change your tune Ed…find something interesting to task about…this is getting boring now

Sparky> Papiss Cisse cost about the same from Freiburg.

Ashley is a monumental **** but he needs to ensure we stay around top 10 to advertise his Soul-less brands.

He WILL spend money this Summer-enough to ensure top 10 and thats it. I don’t think its impossible that he’ll spend £10 million on a striker if he’s to meet that target.

It’d cost FAR more if he doesn’t.

Takin’ the papiss was less than that and look what happened to him playing for the toon!…Ashley won’t make that mistake again I can assure you…

…the only striker we’ll be in for this summer is Bent and and a.n other costing far less than 10 million.

Bent’s not coming here lads……Wipe that one off the agenda. He will add nothing to the squad, Is to old and would cost far to much in wages.
Gomis although not the answer would be more of an appeal as is free and would command a similar contract. + I feel would contribute at least 10 goals a season if given the right service

Only part of this story which i find nonsense is 10 million price. No way will Mashley pay that much after wot happened with Cisse. He even admitted over paying for him. This younger bein on loan means there’s a chance we can sign him, but if that’s da price I guarantee we’ve already walked away from the deal.

Jazzyp – the crux of what you say, lies in the last line – “IF given the right service”!!

The major problem since stupidly selling Cabaye in January for profit, was the removal of the supply chain to the attack. There was no service. How many goals did we score once Cabaye was out of the equation? Very few.

Man city is looking to loan out Rodwell, due to his past injuries this would be a good option. Sinclair hasn’t settled so suggest a move for him also.

If Ashley only wants 10th place, why did he offer 10% bonus for each place over 10th. I work that out at about £6m per place he was willing to pay which is way above the prize money he’d have recieved. If we’d come 7th he would have paid the players £24m or more in bonus.

What would he learn from P45DUE that would give him an advanage in the Coaching world? Caertainly nothing to do with Man Management, Tactics, Substitutions etc etc!!!

is it possible Cashley only offered that bonus.if true, bcos he has the new prem lge money coming in soon.
Or maybe he wanted to make himself look a generous chap knowing that we would,nt finish much higher than tenth anyway.

That’s dodgy maths mate! And no way is it accurate.

We don’t know what the total bonus pot was, but say it was £10M, the players just got £1M for 10th. That is, if that article is correct, I read it in The Mag and I don’t think it’s particularly reliable.

Saying that, this method is popular with Ashley, he likes highly incentivised contracts.

    The next Mike Williamson

he has all his staff on performance related incentives

its a bit unfair on our players with pardew in charge and his defend first score later way of playing
also by selling cabaye and not replacing him at worst we would have come 10th where we were in 6th when he left and not far behind 4th
so by selling cabaye not only did he get 20mill in he didn’t risk paying out another 24mill in bonuses
less the 6 we did pay out Ashley is nearly 38mill in front with his 18mill saving

Mr Tuff- We all should look to live and learn. You were right. But it should be Mad Dogs and EnglishMen go out in the midday sun. But I didn’t have the benefit of google at the time. However I was in fact thinking of Rudyard Kipling’s First World War poems which have been quoted a lot of late in the media.
As far as Jesper, I thought the Harp song of the Dane woman would ring a bell.

PERFECT FOR NUFC!!! BUT WITH THIS MORON IN CHARGE WE ARE GOING NOWHERE AND HAVE NO AMBITION

Im tired of reading drivel about nufc chasing so called targets.
Cant you change the record Ed, i think alot of us know there is no point in reading about transfer spec, unless its a loan deal.or a free.
A club the size of this one, with the 3rd highest gates, womt even compete with the likes of Swansea and Southampton. that just about sums it up for me.
Ile go back to SJP when the current regime leave,my money for now will go to Gateshead, at least they,ll have some ambition.

I hope Nufc don’t get suckered into Buying Payet from Marseille. This is a make way for Cabella guys so don’t do it.
Cabella puts in a good word for Cabs that he is still touting Newcastle as a top English club so maybe there is still hope. Our biggest problem is getting Mash to open the coffers for a summer assault on the transfer market as I think there is some bargains to be had

You mean a guy who had never managed outside South America before, has only been in Europe for 12 months, probably doesn’t speak English, lost the title on the last day to an outside bet and didn’t win a trophy for Barca for te first time in about 6 years?

I hardly think this guy is a good fit…he’ll probably either go back to South America or manage a lesser Spanish team. How many South American managers have been a success in the PL?

Were obviously still in the players mind regarding a potential move. Marseille are also big rivals to his signature if he wants to stay in france.

    jazzyp,
The big selling point for us is that if you are half decent you will always get a game due to there only being one half decent player for that position, because of the relatively pants players you are surrounded by, if you are half decent you will look a bit better than average, thus making a move elsewhere for better money a possibility.

It’s a possibility for sure, but if anyone else comes in for a target of ours they can easily do a ‘Remy’ on us, I bet a lot of clubs are keeping an eye on our movements these days.
