Yohan Cabaye Helping Newcastle Sign Top French Target

There’s some good news today coming out of France, that Yohan Cabaye, the former Newcastle central midfielder has recommended Newcastle United to one of Newcastle’s top targets – 24 year-old Montpellier winger Remy Cabella.

Remy Cabella – Cabaye recommends Newcastle United

Remy Cabella has been pursued by Newcastle since January, but Joe Kinnear failed to bring in any new players during the last transfer window, other than on-loan striker Luuk de Jong – who was a flop – and Joe was fired in early February.

Cabella has been on French TV, and he says Newcastle is a good club, and the news is that he has talked to Yohan Cabaye about the French International’s experience at the Tyneside club:

Newcastle is one of the great teams in England.” “Yohan Cabaye told me a lot of good things about them. “

“I have an agreement with the club that I can leave if a good offer presents itself.”  “I will think with an open mind before making my decision.¨

“Newcastle is a good English club. I will see what my coach and club tells me.”  “I need to make the right choice with regards to Euro 2016. I could also stay in France.¨

“Marseilles is one of France’s big clubs and there are big French clubs interested in me.”

That’s not good news for Newcastle if  he listens to what the club and the coach tell him.

Both 70 year-old Montpellier Chairman Louis Nicollin and coach Rolland Courbis in January both criticized Newcastle, and Nicollin blasted his then captain Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa when he moved to Newcastle in January of last year.

Yohan Cabaye – while at Newcastle United early last season

This is what Nicollin said on January 21st last year to L’Equipe after hearing Yanga-Mbiwa had chosen Newcastle:

“He chose Newcastle? If so, he is an ass,” “It is not my fault but I think the manager Alan Pardew played a role. Newcastle, this is really not a good choice. They will transfer him the next year.¨

“It doesn’t bother me. We’re not going to cry. He is not irreplaceable. The important thing is that we get money.”

And this is what Rolland Courbis said last January 19th,  when Newcastle were interested in signing Cabella:

“They are not a big club.” “And I hope another club tries to buy him.” “As a player I would not even want to spend a week there Newcastle.”

So we hope that Remy Cabella doesn’t listen too much to what the Montpellier Chairman and coach have to say about Newcastle, and we also expect Alan Pardew to be talking to the player to persuade him to sign for Newcastle.

I really hope we sign Cabella and Grenier. Cabella has a lot of quality and composure about him, and Grenier looks to be the perfect Cabaye replacement who could even eventually be better than Cabaye.

    Please make it happen

Cabella will just get ”Pardewed” like Benny and Grenier won’t come here, although it would be great.

Yeah watching Barca and Bayern score 4/5 goals a game and win their league in record time is a real drag.

Rodgers has copied Barca and Pellegrini’s Argentina once took 38 passes to score one of the best team goals I’ve ever seen.

Liverpool and city have been fabulous to watch this season as the 2 best passing teams along with Arsenal and Everton in the top 5.

Do people really want hoof ball to a Carroll type for 90 mins? With that mentality it’s no wonder Spain are current World and Euro champions and England are nowhere.

Did cabaye get Pardewed ?? or did he become a better player since his arrival. Didn’t see any evidence of Remy suffering from the dreaded pardewism spell lol.
Personally would sooner have them here even if they did get Pardewed !!

I tend to agree with the you final count for cash fpr players on the last thread

but I don’t think you will see the debt reduced, it will get eaten up the money

we need new flood lights, then there is the improvements to the training and medical facility’s that are due to start, then there is the fact they have said in the past they look at transfers over a year not a window by window
so bear minimum this window and some cheapies in jan if needed

Either missing the point or being a bit sarcastic there aren’t you?

I like passing football by city, Liverpool, arsenal, Real Madrid, Dortmund, PSG, Bayern (under heynks) but don’t enjoy watching barca or Bayern with Guardiola’s style.

Passing is good when it goes somewhere, when you watch barca it seems like they almost pass it around the back only to boost the stats not to creat openings (sure that’s not right, but how it seems at times).

Its good to see a NE team attacking, using the wings, creating chances. Maybe P45DUE could have a wander over there and learn the secret!!

@rotonda – wouldn’t say liverpool or man city play tiki-taka! Sure theyve implemented some elements of it but they also have a directness!
Peps Barca bored the hell out of me! Hes had to evolve his style at bayern as munich fans wouldn’t stand for a team with no striker but he gave a few interviews complaining how it saddened him to have to play strikers and how munich force him to work with constraits!
Common thing with barca, bayern, spain etc is that are filled with 30m players! Tiki taka doesnt work with less than world class players! Pepe mel tried to implement it at west brom and theres a few teams in la liga that try to play that way and lose alot as their players don’t have the ability!
I remember ardiles trying to play a similar game with us and we were awful whilst dominating posession stats

Quite a few ex reserve players in the conference final, Bartlett, Baxter, Marwood and Maddison for Gateshead and Donaldson for Cambridge.

Donaldson is another one who I thought who play at a higher level, still time I guess.

Cabaye is a piss taker. Could not wait away and then encourages some twerp to sign for a club that has no intention of ever winning anything. Cabaye must hate this guy.

I wish Ed would stop saying JfK couldn’t bring any players in, he wasn’t meant too, do you think Mashley waited until Augand January 31st to say, ‘who did we get then’, it was well thought out that we’d get by until we absolutely needed players.

I just read that article in the mag, although his stuff about interest payments are out on the 11M a year bit, it is strange that the club are saying that stadium expansion is not worth it, if we were dong well the cost would be covered in eight years, but you’d have to still be here in eight years to reap the benefit.

Maybe Rolland Courbis’s right when he said we are not a big club?

Ashley’s ambition doesn’t exactly show us in a good light.

The clown and his underlings don’t even have the nous to even try to put a positive spin on our cup a league aspirations.

Words like ‘at the very least, sustaining our Prem status is our main aim and as far as cups are concerned, we aim to give ’em our best shot’ might have been more acceptable than the blunt reality of their aims.

Tell it like it is Mike and bugger the fan and media reaction.

    Hopeless, hopeless hopeless!

Did everyone hear the sad news? Apparently someone planted a small explosive charge in one of Ashley’s budgies and when he tried to fondle it the poor bird exploded. Ashley lost a mipple apparently. 🙂 Very sad about the bird though.

Look at Cabayes record in France. CL qualification every year. Won just about everything going so I don’t think we can really claim Pardew developed him. Besides it took Pardew 3 years to finally work out his best position!
