Chelsea Move In For Top Newcastle Target

There are reports in France that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is ready to sign Remy Cabella of Montpellier – a talented and creative player who has been high on the list of wanted men at Newcastle since January –  when we sold Yohan Cabaye to PSG, and didn’t bother to replace him.

Remy Cabella – Chelsea now interested?

The reports in the French press are that Chelsea are ready to make a move for the 24 year-old, but of course he wouldn’t be an automatic starter at Chelsea, although they could probably offer him a higher wage than Newcastle.

The news is hard to believe – that Chelsea would be willing to pay him £90K/week to join them – but Chelsea have to get their finances under control and almost break even financially over the next couple of years.

And we’ve seen with big spending clubs like Manchester City and PSG, that UEFA are ready to come down hard on clubs that flaunt the Financial Fair Play rules, and even Championship play-off club QPR are in trouble in England for losing over £62M in their last financial year through June os last year.

Under the rules of Financial Fair Play, clubs will be fined on their losses, and effectively QPR will pay a £1 fine for every £1 they lose during the 2013/2014 financial year, over a figure of £18M – which is the allowable loss.

And for Chelsea to pay that amount of wages to a player who would unlikely be a starter at Stamford Bridge seems a little extravagant, to say the least – that’s £4.5M a year in wages.

Montpellier Chairman Louis Nicollin has told his midfielder he can definitely leave the club in the summer, and since Newcastle were interested last January, it’s true that some bigger clubs have become interested in the talented player.

The French reports suggest that both Chelsea and Newcastle are readying bids of £7M for the player, but Montpellier wanted twice that amount in January, and we would be surprised if the Cabella fee is as low as that.

If Chelsea are really interested in signing the player it may make things very difficult for Newcastle, and since January, both Arsenal and Marseilles have also shown an interest in him.

Remy Cabella had a very good season for Montpellier, and helped them just survive relegation, and in 39 total appearances he scored 14 goals and had 9 assists, and he would be a terrific acquisition for Newcastle, if we can get him.

Over to you Lee Charnley.

A famous humouristic song about Diabaté:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIZZ0zZd-0o

    A translation:

Tell me where he’s coming from?
One told me he’s Bordelais and a Malian international
But i can’t figure him out
Does he play with feet or hands?
Is he lef handed (footed) or right handed (footed)?
Even if you got friends in the crowd
This not there you got to aim
Tell me: where is your right foot?
Tell me where is your right foot!
If at the end of your leg, you got a foot…
… tell me how it’s shaped
    Oh holy right foot!
Could it be square shaped by any chances?
Cause we do not understand lad where the ball is going!

    Where are you Cheick Diabaté
    Where are you Cheick Diabaté
    Where are you Cheick Diabaté
Where are you, where are you Chaick Diabaté

Ed, they didn’t say his fee was as low as £7 million, they said NUFC were ready to make a bid of £7 million. We only offer OUR valuation, not the Market Valuation – that’s why why never seem to land our targets and havent signed a player in over a year!!

Probably another player we will fail to “Get over the line”!!!!!

Graeme, you’re spot on when you refer to prices and wages being governed by market forces.

When will Ashley wake up, face the facts and be prepared to pay the market rates.

He’s goes on as though he’s trying to buck the market, if we’re buying we’re at the mercy of the sellers and more so, other potential buyers who are prepared to pay that bit more.

If a player’s highly regarded, then his price and demands will reflect that.

In summary, Ashley’s principles’ll cost us dearly yet again when he’s cleared out players without replacing them with quality.

    Deja Vue, all over again!!!

As usual that f’ing line Pardew just cannot get them over.
Never mind it will be interesting if Percy gets ‘over the line and out of his dugout’ on the first match of the season.
Cant wait for the baiting to start. PARDEW OUT!!!

Cabella would be a fool to go to Chelsea.

He is at an age where he needs game time. He won’t get that at Chelsea unless they loan him.

We have 2 examples to show him. Ba went to Chelsea after starring for Newcastle and barely got a game. Cabaye went to PSG after starring for Newcastle and could not break into the first team.

Cabella is not at the level of Ba or Cabaye and has not starred at premier league level yet. To get there he has more of a chance with Newcastle.

And to be brutally honest the £90k a week figure Chelsea has offered must surely be made up. Not even Chelsea would be stupid enough to pay that much for a player whose success at this level is not guaranteed. If anything his agent has probably made all this up to drive up the price.

    this rumour is so untrue,
    1. mourinho doesn’t patronise skillful and flair players in his team.
    2. Chelsea have more than enough attacking options at the moment.
    3. clubs like QPR are willing to pay cabella more money if they get promoted.
    4. nufc fans should expect to see more of Sammy and abeid next season especially if Ben arfa and Jonas aren’t sold

Who we cheering on in the “Championship Play-off” then??
I dont really care – as long as QPR miss promotion lol.
Keeping ‘Appy ‘Arry in the Championship will do him good – he may even learn some humility, but its debateable.

QPR have already started talks with Legal Teams to find a way out of a possible £50 million fine for their crazy spending!!!

    Graeme/Lesh
    Spot on

Unfortunately due to sheer incompetence in previous windows he has now put the squad in to a position of desperation with players being released, others entering the last year of there contract and our inability to replace outgoings has left us facing the new season with no width no creativity in midfield and one fit established CF in Gouffran who as much as i like him is not a prolific goalscorer

Other clubs know that we need to buy, out of desperation, so immediately have all the power in the negotiations, they will also know if they have a bit of common sense we rarely/never have an alternative target
If we then somehow manage to negotiate a fee, the player will no doubt know about the clubs ridiculous PR gaff in actually stating that there is no desire or financial incentive to compete or win anything, so if the player is not coming to compete they will have to offer incentive to join us in the form of signing bonuses and wages

All this has been bought about by Mr. Ashley……well done Mikey, well done
