French Club Interested In Newcastle Defender

4:07 pm, Thursday, May 29th, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 121 Comments

It would appear that the Newcastle career of 25 year-old Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is over, and he is available to other clubs in the summer, after Alan Pardew concluded he will simply not make it in the Premier League, and that’s based on probably at least a couple of things – his poor positional play and also his lack of heading ability.

john carver mapou yanga-mbiwa

Yanga-Mbiwa and John Carver – in happier times

Mapou had a few nightmare games for Newcastle, and they started at Everton in late September, when he was playing at center-back and he was withdrawn at half time, and Mike Williamson came in, and after that stayed as first choice for the rest of the season.

And we have to admit that we thought Mapou was an excellent signing when we got him from Montpellier, but he hasn’t lived up to those high expectations, and it would be a surprise if an English club wanted to pick him up in the summer.

Montpellier would take him back, but his former club probably couldn’t come up with the money – we paid around £8M for him seventeen months ago, and we suppose we’ll try to get as much of that fee back.

Maybe we could do a part exchange for Remy Cabella – just a thought.

And his International career has gone backwards quickly since he joined Newcastle, after he couldn’t nail down a starting position in the Newcastle back four, and of course he was nowhere near getting into the French squad for the World Cup in Brazil next month, which was a goal when he joined Newcastle.

Mapou does have good leadership skills, and still has a stellar name in France, having captained the Montpellier side to their first ever French Championship two years ago, when he was only 22 years old.

And the news today is that French club Bordeaux have registered an interest in the player, but it’s going to be difficult for a French club to come up with the money to secure the services of the player, and if we cannot find a buyer this summer, maybe we can loan him out for next season.

But we’re sure Newcastle would like to get him off the books completely before September rolls around.

Mapou played 48 times for Newcastle in his short career on Tyneside.

Comments welcome.

that will actually just cause things to get worse.

ashley will have to pay his full wages even if their was a clause in his contract. the problem facing ashley is he knows pardew has had to cope for a full season without any arrivals and so all pardew would need to do is go to court and appeal for the rights to have all his money as he really got as good a finish as we should expect..

also if a new manager comes in he will join knowing he can’t have the confidence of a manager who is going to be backed in the transfer window, i just can’t see quality managers wanting to work here knowing that a transfer window has a high chance of going down badly.

if pardew were picking players and we only expected players like bent, how the hell did we manage to get players such as cabaye, tiote and debuchy in the first place?

also if we did get a new manager and kept all these players then would that not allow ashley a great opportunity to not spend money for a 3rd window running. we are telling him that pardew ruined these players, therefore this is a great team in ashleys eyes and doesn’t need money spent.

in ashleys mind money only needs spending when he has not backed a manager enough and the manager has not got the results needed.
that was why he spent lots the january before last, because he feels the team was not strong enough to survive and he hadn’t given pardew money in summer, also it’s why i think we spending money this summer.

the full reason for ashley appointing pardew was he knows fans will not be happy with pardew, so whilst pardew gets all the abuse ashley continues to get his money from the club without having to worry about abuse.

Another one possibly out the door, get in, lets look on the bright side, at least the kids will get a sustained run in the side ?

  • 3 theartfuldodger // May 29, 2014 at 4:12 PM

Suppose Grenier and Cabella dont end up here…Who replaces cabaye..or even remy..

Not too many names out there..Finbogasson and Gomis (cant meet his wage demands)..and lassoga..

Ashleys on the verge of relegation…
    Big Summer??..Or Complete Anticlimax…

Remove debs and sissoko frm the team and we would be odds on for relegation frm the champiomship even…

  • 4 Laurent Robert 32 // May 29, 2014 at 4:12 PM

Alan Pardew concludes he isn’t good enough! Ha.

The same prat who wouldn’t play Mascherano. Now he’s at Barca.

  • 5 spitfire_ // May 29, 2014 at 4:13 PM

Unload MYM but keep Williamson and Saylor… ffs…

  • 6 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 4:13 PM

The atmosphere would be no more poisonous than this season
And how does AP losing his job change the drastic work that needs doing this summer?
Do you really think the club won’t move players on in case they fancy sacking the manager after a couple of games?

As long as clubs spend crazy money on Debuchy you wouldn’t mind him going?
Wtf difference does the price we get make?
It won’t be re invested so truly baffles me why any one would happily see a top player out the door

  • 7 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 4:14 PM

    Toon Logic eh!

  • 8 JackButler // May 29, 2014 at 4:14 PM

So many of our players have not lived up to our expectations Ed.

    Are our expectations unrealistic?
    Are they simply poor signing’s?
    Or is there another reason?

  • 9 spitfire_ // May 29, 2014 at 4:17 PM

Not exactly… I would say pardew’s logic… which is rotten all the way.

  • 10 cyprus // May 29, 2014 at 4:20 PM

What you say makes sense, except, MA does get his share of abuse. Also, I’m not sure he bought this club for money. He can’t be that dumb.
You ask me what I think. In truth, I don’t know what to believe this club has in mind. So, these days I am basically expressing wishful thinking. Yes, I think AP has probably lost it and he should leave but I have no idea if he will. It’s just that it seems he’s used up most of his lives, though I may be wrong…

  • 11 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 4:21 PM

I doubt transfer business is solely down to him

We have a whole backroom staff and board full of incompetent morons
Saying this whole mess is solely down to Pards is giving him to much credit!
It’s been a joint effort from all the idiots behind the scenes!

  • 12 spitfire_ // May 29, 2014 at 4:21 PM

pardew’s logic – let’s kick all flair and skillful players out of the club.

ashley’s logic – let’s not choose the easy way, which is to sack the manager and the new one to use all of our players plus the new comings to push the club to the next level… let’s keep the manager and he’ll kick out of the club all useless by his opinion players.

  • 13 Sazzer // May 29, 2014 at 4:21 PM

And you can always play a CB as RB if you have to. Sign Colback on free and let him play RB.

  • 14 lesh // May 29, 2014 at 4:24 PM

toonking….. I think what you’re saying is that Ashley has managed to turn a once well respected club into a toxic brand that people have no desire to be in over with.

    Thank you Mr Ashley.

  • 15 toonking // May 29, 2014 at 4:24 PM

one wants champions league the others well they want football matches in premier league.

saying that has saylor not been pardewed himself?

when so much keeps being raised on armstrong and his form ATM why didn’t saylor turnout to be himself, saylor was a great england U21 captain, lots were saying he would be the next senior england. he has had injuries but their is other players we still have at the minute who have had bad injury but still accused of pardewed.

  • 16 cyprus // May 29, 2014 at 4:24 PM

I’d like to see what this set of players can do under a different manager: Krul, Mbiwa, Colo, debs, Tiote, HBA, even guti, Big Siss and some other seemingly very decent players. Can they really not play better?

  • 17 JackButler // May 29, 2014 at 4:25 PM

Lads, please stop using the word “Logic” when discussing anything about NUFC, there is no logic at any level of the club. We are being run by fool’s for a passionless billionaire.

Logic at NUFC is a myth

  • 18 lesh // May 29, 2014 at 4:25 PM

    * in over with = involved with

  • 19 spitfire_ // May 29, 2014 at 4:25 PM

I think you are right but only for the new players… They give him a list to choose and they try to buy them (ha ha).
As far for the leavers… I’m not so sure… exept the cases with the silly money… which is unlikely for MYM.

  • 20 Spoof // May 29, 2014 at 4:26 PM

I get it now, cash in on Debuchy who is one of the best RB’s in the world and we let Raylor and Colback who are both midfielders fight it out for the RB berth, what a brilliant idea ?

  • 21 Rotonda heights // May 29, 2014 at 4:34 PM

If you were Abeid would you want to come back to play for Pardew who never rated you, even though you looked good in pre-season.

Pardew says this summer transfer negotiations are proving difficult. That’s because no one wants to come you moron!

I don’t buy that Ba, Colo, Cabaye, Debuchy, Ben Arfa who have all publically criticised Pardew’s tactics want / wanted out, for any other reason that Pardew is still here.

Pardew had a great platform and has blown it to pieces and Ash is a fool for a) appointing him and B) for now making him unsackable.

  • 22 toonking // May 29, 2014 at 4:37 PM

basically yes he has done just that.

fans are closer to the club than anyone else really and if we are all wanting him out the rest of the footballing world will know that things at the minute are just not going well, so basically why would a decent player or decent manager want to here when we don’t want cups or european football and don’t offer much in wages or transfer fees.

  • 23 Rotonda heights // May 29, 2014 at 4:38 PM

I can think of several up and coming young managers with credibility in their CVs who could do a hell of a lot better given the same crop of players.

It’s a mindset and attitude. Pardew’s is all negative and with him gone I’m sure we’d see a hell of a sea change.

  • 24 toonking // May 29, 2014 at 4:38 PM

    to come here

  • 25 cyprus // May 29, 2014 at 4:38 PM

More from the Greek press.. Abeid is considered the team’s ‘revelation’ of the year with 9 goals and 5 assists. His best friend s at NUFC are Vukic and HBA who he says has a terrible taste in music 🙂

  • 26 cyprus // May 29, 2014 at 4:43 PM

I have to agree, though we may never know if this team gets dismantled. It was a pleasure watching Newcastle players run the French team a couple days ago 🙂

  • 27 cyprus // May 29, 2014 at 4:48 PM

For those who don’t know Panathinaikos is the second biggest team with Olympiakos, despite the economic crisis. And a regular in Europe. The rivalry between these two teams is analogous to El classico in Spain. I doubt Abeid will want to come back to the bench.

  • 28 cyprus // May 29, 2014 at 4:49 PM

btw, it’s not a ‘bench’ anymore, right? Aren’t those Recaro seats or something?

  • 29 Sazzer // May 29, 2014 at 4:51 PM

    Perfect plan. =)

It’s a myth that we don’t reinvest so what’s your point?

  • 30 toonking // May 29, 2014 at 4:52 PM

had you did your history lessons yet mate?
cabaye ba carroll enrique were all starters at newcastle and each of them were very good for us.

    cabaye benched at PSG
    ba benched at chelsea
    carroll benched at liverpool
enrique benched at liverpool and might be getting sold.

why do you expect this squad to do better with a new manager.

maybe every single newcastle fan should have thought about this when they were praying for the FA to appoint rednapp or hodgson but not pardew as england manager.

maybe you should all have stayed anti pardew rather than support him during that season we finished 5th.

the simple answer is your all too late us ashley haters know cashley has caused too much damage and made newcastle too unattractive for decent players and managers.

  • 31 Spoof // May 29, 2014 at 4:52 PM

it wouldn’t matter who the manager was if I were a player I would not want to play here.

Have a look at our side as it stands today

    Krul(could move)
    Debuchy(will move)Willo MYM(probably move) Santon
    Tiote Sissoko
    Ben Arfa(going) Raylor Sammi

assuming that the 3 outfield players do move as is expected we have Saylor, Colo and Armstrong who are next in line,
    Saylor Wilo Colo Santon
    Tiote Sissoko
    Raylor Armstrong Sammi

please don’t ask for a bench, but what I have said above is how it is, yes you may have slighly different formations, perhaps even different players with Ferguson, Abeid etc, but we are in desperate trouble m8, really desperate, and quite simply you are dead wrong, there is no one who could be successful with that lot. Look at them for pities sake.

  • 32 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 4:58 PM

Cheer up lads. Your Senior Official Club Journo has it on good authority that we will soon sign Cacapa to rescue next season! Yes, Cacapa is returning mates! Saylor and Mbiwa will go (and probably Debuchy as the smell coming off wor club is offending him) but Cacape to come in! Beautiful.

  • 33 magpie6699 // May 29, 2014 at 5:00 PM

I get it! Last season we were very short of numbers and quality so of course we have to clear out large numbers of players! So now I’m overdrawn at the bank the obvious thing is for me to spend more money! Brilliant!

  • 34 Ketsbaia9 // May 29, 2014 at 5:01 PM

Haha keep Williamson and Saylor and let Mbiwa go. We’ll be even worse next season.

  • 35 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 5:01 PM

Has anybody else noticed that the smell coming off wor club is getting quite ripe? We seem to be rotting from within. Mbiwa not good enough, Remy leaving, Debuchy fed up, Benny leaving. We need to get the pest control officer in to have a look. Possibly something evil has hatched in Alan’s underpants?

  • 36 cyprus // May 29, 2014 at 5:03 PM

Your optimism always cheers me up 🙂
I hope you are right regarding Cacapa

  • 37 toonking // May 29, 2014 at 5:03 PM

we should all just unite and bash one person and one person only, that person we should all bash is ashley.

bashing pardew and bashing players is just going to cause morale and confidence to drop more and more. what it won’t change is ashley decisions because ashley will just see the pardew bashing as a way of himself avoiding the blame. the bashing of the lesser players, well that will just make managers even less keen on arriving here as they know that their is always a chance of them needing to use even the poor players.

  • 38 Ketsbaia9 // May 29, 2014 at 5:04 PM

It’s really disgraceful. We’re thinking of getting rid of Mbiwa, Debuchy, Ben Arfa and Marveaux. We’ll now need about 13 new first team players.

  • 39 cyprus // May 29, 2014 at 5:07 PM

I read you. Good point. Not sure I completely agree. Enrique was outstanding with them till he got injured. Carroll is a talisman when given the chance and Ba saved Chelsea a couple of times WHEN given the chance. Cabaye, ok, he’s out of his league.

  • 40 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 5:07 PM

Does anybody else fancy a back 5 of Raylor, Willo, Colo, Cacapa, and Santon? Santon and Raylor to be wingbacks. Exciting football with a veteran core to the defense. They could have canes on the pitch for the 3 CB’s and wheelchairs on the sidelines for when they come off (not too often please as we have no bench to speak of). Colour me excited!

  • 41 Tsunki // May 29, 2014 at 5:08 PM

Ketsy 13 players is a bit strong but I would say about 6 and that’s a big ask anyway.

Pardew is an old DIY Mechanic trying to tune a modern engine. He’s just ruining the components dabbling with his daft defensive system that demands everyone chips in like a mob when they lose the ball. He’s out of his era, whenever that was.

  • 42 cyprus // May 29, 2014 at 5:08 PM

    Totally agree with that

  • 43 cyprus // May 29, 2014 at 5:09 PM

    any sightings of MA?

  • 44 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 5:09 PM

Ta cyprus mate and I agree with toonking. Let’s all bash the Ash! Huzzah!

  • 45 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 5:11 PM

But how do you feel about the Cacapa signing Tsunki mate? This is a huge deal. It will cost many tens of pounds to bring him back! Are you feeling a surge of excitement now?

  • 46 Tsunki // May 29, 2014 at 5:12 PM

Cyprus – MA? Is he in hiding?

  • 47 cyprus // May 29, 2014 at 5:12 PM

sorry mate I disagree. What you suggest is the ideal and unrealistic, not the optimum. I think too we should focus on only one person, for now not the future, but it’s not the same one you mention!

  • 48 cyprus // May 29, 2014 at 5:14 PM

Sorry, thought you had seen him a couple weeks ago, my mistake, it was probably another poster who said so.

  • 49 Tsunki // May 29, 2014 at 5:15 PM

Cacapa? Best return since Keegan. If we can get that Geremi in as well we’d be laughing. On the outside. Great engine though – a 125cc thing fitted to his invalid cart.

  • 50 Tsunki // May 29, 2014 at 5:17 PM

Cyprus – no not mate. I thought I saw him above Penshaw monument a week ago but it turns our it was a weather balloon. Will keep you posted if I hear about any town where the Greggs has suddenly run out of steak bakes though.

  • 51 Wayayman // May 29, 2014 at 5:18 PM

Of course, the REAL problem is that MYM, Ben Arfa, Debuchy, Anita, Santon, Sissoko, Cisse, Gouffran all grew up being coached a totally different way, with a different philosophy to what we have at NUFC. The 3 coaching dinosaurs of the old school-English game where skill and finesse were discarded for graft and strength.

Cabella, Grenier, Siem De Jong, they’d all go the same way and be disillusioned with our tactics within a season or two.

Crying shame, given the opportunities out there at the minute to recruit a modern coach.

  • 52 cyprus // May 29, 2014 at 5:18 PM

  • 53 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 5:19 PM

Wor Alan has some tremendous replacements in mind for wor departing players. It’s not just the whole Cacapa spectacle! There will be more to follow! It’s exciting times ahead!

  • 54 Tsunki // May 29, 2014 at 5:20 PM

Hang on hang on haaaaaaaaaaaannnnng onnn – you mistook ME for ANOTHER Ordinary, bog standard, common or garden, run of the mill, average Joe poster?

    Understandable I suppose. 🙁

  • 55 Tsunki // May 29, 2014 at 5:25 PM

So, G2 my old velvety chocolate sponge pudding – what have I missed recently, me old funky banana? Have just been dipping my beak into the blog occasionally, much like a half-chequered bavarian stiff neck budgerigar does with oxtail soup. Any world shattering nonsense to report?

  • 56 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 5:25 PM

Has anyone else noticed we have a few somewhat unhappy players at the club? We’ve got to turn those frowns upside down mates! We’re clearly building for the future using the now famous Ashley plan. Doesn’t it look fabulous? What is wrong with that sulky bunch of players? Can’t they see the fantastic future they have ahead of them with us? Years of mid table or lower finishes. Watching other players win things from their comfy chairs at home. Tremendously poor wages compared with other Prem clubs. It’s all so exciting!

  • 57 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 5:28 PM

If it’s on this blog it is always earth shattering Tsunki mate. We break the big stories here first! The Cacapa story, the Ashley arrest for budgie fondling, all the dirt on wor players. You’ve missed so much. Shame on you!

  • 58 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 5:28 PM

Also beermonkey has peed in Pardew’s back pocket. Have I mentioned that?

  • 59 Tsunki // May 29, 2014 at 5:34 PM

    Hmm interesting stuff, G2.

In other news, do you realise that for only £30 you can go to SJP this Saturday and enjoy pure entertainment for 6 hours? £ 30 wouldn’t get you an hour and a half of watching our hapless team being rodgered by Man Citeh. The whole world has gone completely mad, at least on tyneside.

  • 60 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 5:37 PM

We can generate much more entertainment on here for far less than 30 quid Tsunki. Stay on board and learn about all the exciting shenanigans we plan!

  • 61 Tsunki // May 29, 2014 at 5:38 PM

    It’s a date!

  • 62 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 5:43 PM

Well I’m really happy with the pre-window events so far at the club. We’ve released 9 players. Gosling gone, Shola gone, a few young’uns gone, Mbiwa soon to be gone. Remy can’t decide which story is correct, his or Pardew’s but plans to leave ASAP. As do Benny and Marveaux. Thank goodness we’re getting rid of all the riff raff (some of the riffiest raff I’ve ever seen). And now comes the window! Fantastic opportunities available at Newcastle United! Come try out and see if you can make the team! We’re offering reasonable wages for the right people! 😆

  • 63 Sazzer // May 29, 2014 at 5:46 PM

From Pardew favorite 11 it would only be Debuchy, Cabaye and Remy missing from this season.

    Santon Willo Colo Haidara
    Anita Tiote
    Sissoko 15-40 m £+ Gouffran
    15-40 m £+

Elliot/Woodman, Dummet, R.Taylor. S.Taylor, Sammy, Cisse, Ayoze and (Armstrong, Satka/Good, Aarons, Bigi)

  • 64 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 5:48 PM

That lineup looks scary Sazzer mate @63. We could terrorize small children with it! And who in their right mind thinks Ash is going to spend 30-80M pounds on 2 players? Ash doesn’t even spend that much on a yacht pissup! 😯

  • 65 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 5:55 PM

Another Pardew/Ashley homage. Please sing to Send in the Clowns. Beautiful.
    Isn’t it rich? Aren’t they a pair?
Pards here at the ground, Ash who knows where?
    Where are the clowns?
Isn’t it bliss? Don’t you approve?
Pards who keeps tearing around, Ash who can’t move
Where are the clowns? There ought to be clowns

  • 66 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 6:13 PM

    How is it a myth?
By all means give me one example where we have reinvested and replaced a player in the same window which is what we would absolutely have to do if Debuchy goes

  • 67 Tsunki // May 29, 2014 at 6:14 PM

I’m thinking of joining Alans appreciation society, the Pardologists. Currently I see him fitting well into a new role, starting this saturday, when he can don a paper thunderbird hat and a pinny, and dish out those wholesome and delicious Balti Pies to stoned KOL fans.

Once he’s learned to serve up crap properly, we’ll all start enjoying his pressers.

  • 68 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 6:15 PM

    Spot on mate

  • 69 gonufc (Newcastle United Sports Direct Advertising Club) // May 29, 2014 at 6:18 PM

If M’biwa leaves this summer then Pardew should be truly ashamed and embarrassed.

Utterly mis-managed and mis-used a young France international with massive potential who captained his club to the French championship.

Alan, he is not a flipping right back!!

Also, are we getting rid of any player who has even a glimmer of technical ability?!?!

  • 70 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 6:18 PM

Ffs lad don’t let Pardew near the KOL!!!

He’ll start coaching them how to play there instruments before you know it….

  • 71 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 6:19 PM

The nice thing about the pre-window time of year is that we can all speculate about brilliant new incoming players. And now that we have the Cacapa deal done I can relax and focus on the icing on top so to speak. The great players who are going to want to come to us. The Joe Coles, the Ganbold Bilguuns. By the time wor Alan is finished we’ll be competing for the Division Three league trophy!

  • 72 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 6:20 PM

Out of interest have the club bothered replacing willie Donachie or are the reserves simply floating around with no head coach

  • 73 Tsunki // May 29, 2014 at 6:20 PM

As regards the quintessentially local style of play Pardew likes to inflict on his imports, I think Pink Floyd were surprisingly prophetic:-

‘Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English Way,
    The time is gone,
    The Season’s over,
Thought I’d had more men to play…’

or words to that effect. You might be able to see what I’ve done…there…

  • 74 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 6:21 PM

Just think, Alan has 5 more years on his contract! That gives us a chance to be relegated up to 5 times in the coming years! It’s a lot to get me heed around lads.

  • 75 Tsunki // May 29, 2014 at 6:23 PM

tads – as opposed to floating around WITH a head coach? 🙂

  • 76 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 6:25 PM

Ganbold Bilguun! Ganbold Bilguun! Our next great signing lads!

oh dear spellings going to pot. time out for a run in the wheel.

  • 80 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 6:28 PM

Has anybody got an address or phone number for Ganbold Bilguun by the way?

  • 81 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 6:29 PM

It’s a bad day mate but yes, it’s official, KOL have been Pardewed!

  • 82 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 6:30 PM

I have been doing a lot of chanting lately Tsunki. But I’m feeling much better now. The smell of the burnt oily rags was playing havoc with me sinuses mate.

  • 83 Lilongwe Geordie // May 29, 2014 at 6:31 PM

Beardsley took over from Donachie. Or really just increased his responsibilities. No point appointing someone new when you can fudge it and make one person do the job.

  • 84 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 6:31 PM

I’m willing to wager a lot of you didn’t even know Ganbold Bilguun was available? Shameful lack of awareness. Some tremendously cheap players available from the Mongolian national side right now.

  • 85 Sazzer // May 29, 2014 at 6:33 PM

They point is that Ashley wouldn’t have to spend a penny and that technically we only need 2-3 new players even if all players are rumoured to be leaving to make up a similar line up to our best performing line up this season.

So worrying that we will collapse by sellling players that don’t play is just crazy.

It’s an important summer and we will be worse of next year if we can’t find group of players that collectively can replace the impact of Remy and Cabaye.

  • 86 beermonkey // May 29, 2014 at 6:35 PM

    so who have we bought

  • 87 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 6:36 PM

So far we’ve only signed Cacapa beermonkey. Please try to stay abreast of the breaking news mate.

  • 88 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 6:37 PM

Lol bit like Lee Charnley then!

  • 89 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 6:39 PM

I’m not sure I follow that Sazzer @85. You think we are going to sign 2 or 3 good players? What gave you that idea mate? Pards has just said we may not get wor targets as this is a world cup year and real teams are after the good players. We were lucky to get Cacapa. 😯

  • 90 Sazzer // May 29, 2014 at 6:39 PM

    Cabaye – Nolan
    Santon – Enrique

  • 91 the truth will out // May 29, 2014 at 6:43 PM

    the dreaded drop awaits

  • 92 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 6:44 PM

    Players who don’t play?
Debuchy has been heavily linked with a move he plays
MYM plays, not as much as he should, and is valuable cover linked with a move away
Haidara plays linked with a move away
    Krul plays linked away
Sissoko plays linked with a move away by his agent
Gosling played when he came back from loan in a stretched squad
Shola played a hell of a lot
LDJ played nearly every game since his move

We needed 4-6 players to add width creativity attacking intent and squad depth before Cabs and Remy left
But aye we just need to replace Cabaye and Remy

  • 93 beermonkey // May 29, 2014 at 6:45 PM

surprised we signed him at 38 but seeing as though he was the 1000th player to represent Newcastle in a competitive match with strolla going its good to have some1 about the team with some history with us

  • 94 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 6:46 PM

7 years and he’s replaced 2 players in the same window!
    Myth my ars3

  • 95 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 6:50 PM

Excellent points made beermonkey. Cacapa is a gem of a find at 38. His best years are ahead of him according to Pardew.

  • 96 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 6:52 PM

Spot on tadsy @92. We’re deep in the doo doo. Ashley completely unaware as usual.

  • 97 BlacknWhiteBarmy // May 29, 2014 at 6:53 PM

Are we off loading or are these players keen to leave??

I would suggest the latter – what with a muppet manager and an owner with no ambition – no point hanging around.

Looking forward to lots of transfer excuses and then a nailed on relegation season – hopefully the last act of the Fatash regime

  • 98 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 6:58 PM

@DeadlineDayLive: BREAKING: Betting has been suspended on Rickie Lambert’s next club following large bets on him moving to Liverpool. (Source: SkyBet)

  • 99 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 7:01 PM

    Does it matter?
Either way were deep in the sh1t like!

Can’t blame any player wanting out tbh, especially not when the club actually state to the disbelief of the fans, the media and the football world as a whole that basically we have zero interest in competing for anything

  • 100 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 7:01 PM

We’re actually offloading players who are keen to leave BWB mate. It’s like combining 2 jobs in one position such as Beardo taking over for Donachie. If players want to leave and we’re actually paying them wages then by all means offload them! That’s the old Ashley spirit! There are much cheaper players available. So cunning that man.

  • 101 toonking // May 29, 2014 at 7:04 PM

    rickie lambert move to liverpool!

yet another england player who’s career will be ruined through bench warming.

liverpool have got sturridge and suaez as first choices and broini already as cover plus sterling plays the LF when rodgers does 4-3-3.

  • 102 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 7:05 PM

@TransferNewsCen: MLS: It’s widely reported that Atletico’s David Villa has agreed a 3 year deal with New York City FC. May be loaned until January.

@TransferNewsCen: New York City FC are also rumoured to be working on a deal for Xavi. City’s Lescott wanted by Chicago Fire. (Source: MLSTransfers)

  • 103 Go toon gooooo // May 29, 2014 at 7:06 PM

First and the most important thing is that this heavy player can’t play in the right or left back position. And if Parde plays him on his one and the only one centre-back position critical thing is pair of centre backs as a whole not separated quality of the players. You may have two centre world class backs but if they are not good as a whole they are useless. And because Parde thinks that Mbiwa is right back and Sissoko is right winger he automatically seeks out of the club because consequences of that mistakes are disastrous for Newcastle United club.Alan Pardew out.

  • 104 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // May 29, 2014 at 7:07 PM

Is it as early as June 9th we can sign players or something?

…we all know we won’t have anyone over the line by then right?

  • 105 Go toon gooooo // May 29, 2014 at 7:08 PM

But there is more talented manager for silly experiments.Big Sam Allardyce-Christopher Samba is a good striker for him.

  • 106 gonufc (Newcastle United Sports Direct Advertising Club) // May 29, 2014 at 7:12 PM

You know how a club has a big clear out after relegation?

Are we actually trying to get ahead by doing it a year early?

  • 107 Big Pappa Cissé // May 29, 2014 at 7:12 PM

Letting M’biwa go would be a huge mistake .

The guy is a title winning French International and has the ability to be the best Centre back we have ever had . His clearance of the line against Spurs was Unbelievable and if given the chance he will prove the doubters wrong .

How Steven Taylor gets a game ahead of him I will never know .

  • 108 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 7:23 PM

I believe we can sign players as of June 9th jesper mate. But really we’re focused on free agents and loan players. It gives us so much more flexibility. Then Mike can have several more yacht pissups per season.

  • 109 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 7:24 PM

    Fully agree
It’s only on a rare occasion Pardew has actually played the lad in position, and when he has he ‘s looked a canny player

CB’s, good CB’s anyway are relatively specialised
He’s played this LCB as RB a LB a RCB and a CDM but only occasionally as a LCB

Yes mate officially they can’t process the paper work until then but clubs can still announce deals
Given the severity of this window not just from a fans point of view but also as admitted by the club, you’d think they would of had nearly all there business done and ready to go, incoming and outgoing giving them a full pre season to at least bed the players in and try and find some style of play!

  • 110 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 7:24 PM

Yes gonufc @106! That’s exactly right. Sell first, relegate later! It’s all the rage on the continent! Beautiful mate.

  • 111 toonarmydownsouth // May 29, 2014 at 7:25 PM

There’s nothing like getting your prep work done early!

  • 112 the truth will out // May 29, 2014 at 7:25 PM

    for me
    enough is enough
ashley out closely followed by parcrap

  • 113 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 7:27 PM

Should we put a cheeky bid in for Zinedine Zidane? 😯

  • 114 welshgeordie9 // May 29, 2014 at 7:29 PM

If we don’t sign anybody soon, i can see walkout protests starting with our friendlies nevermind waiting until the season starts

  • 115 GeordieTwo // May 29, 2014 at 7:34 PM

I’m sorry I meant Geoff Hurst. ZZ is still far too expensive for us.

  • 116 Laurent Robert 32 // May 29, 2014 at 7:46 PM

Protests should be ongoing regardless. What’s changed? Nothing.

    Ashley out, Pardew out.

  • 117 Tayls // May 29, 2014 at 7:47 PM

Pardues ability to judge talent is so poor. He never rated Macherano or Tevez, both constantly on the bench when he was at West Ham. He also seems to make potential great players go backwards in there development, Mapou and Davide to name two. Both defenders btw, wasn’t Pardew supposed to be a specialist in defence? What is this guy actually good at and why is he still in charge?

  • 118 welshgeordie9 // May 29, 2014 at 7:48 PM

    Oooh sorry i spoke

  • 119 Tayls // May 29, 2014 at 7:57 PM

Mapou has a natural gift in reading the game. This was obvious to see in the instrumental part he played in winning the French title and on occasional brilliance this season (that clearance off the line earlier mentioned). This guy is a potential Maldini at CB and that’s not even an exaggeration but how can he develop when f#!*ing Steven Taylor is rated higher than him!!

  • 120 jesperfuglsang - captain of the lemon crew // May 29, 2014 at 8:05 PM

GT/tads…that would probably be too good to be true! It is Newcastle we are talking about here 😉

  • 121 ronjohno // May 29, 2014 at 11:46 PM

Colo had a terrible first season and then became a cult figure.
I wish MYM could be afforded the same opportunity – I don’t think Pardew has it in him to handle good footballing players. Houghton was in charge when Colo came good.
Have just read Ginola comments on Ben Arfa in the Chron. Ginola also does not rate Pardew.
Montpellier chairman told MYM he was making a mistake signing for Toon. I had hoped he would prove him wrong because I think he is s good player.
