There are reports in Italy that Newcastle are working with AC Milan on a potential swap deal involving our Italian International left-back Davide Santon.
Davide Santon – off to AC Milan
It is expected that Fillipo Inzaghi, the former Milan striker, will be coming in as the new manager to replace Clarence Seedorf this summer, and Santon is being reported as being a top target for the club.
The news is in Sportmediaset.it, that Milan want the Italian International left-back, but they will have to pay out the cash to get him, and that would be around £10M – that’s the figure Newcastle owner Mike Ashley will accept to immediately part with the 23 year-old.
The two clubs are now supposed to be in talks about a potential part exchange deal, and Kevin Constant is again mentioned as a possible player going in the opposite direction to Newcastle.
But we’re not sure that would be a good deal with Constant being 27 years old, four years older than Davide.
Davide Santon didn’t have a great season last term, but he was very good in the first half, but then slipped back, not unlike most of the Newcastle players since Christmas.
If this is a deal involving Constant we wouldn’t think it would be a good deal for Newcastle.
We should also rememer that earlier this week Davide’s agent said that his player had no intention of leaving Newcastle this summer, and in fact he had been offered a new deal by Newcastle – so not sure how accurate this report is.
