Great News – Newcastle Goalkeeper Makes 23 Man Dutch Squad

4:44 pm, Saturday, May 31st, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 9 Comments

Great news for Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul today – he’s in the Dutch World Cup 23 man squad for the World Cup, and the squad has just been announced by Dutch coach and new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal.

Tim Krul – in Dutch World Cup squad

We have to say we were a bit dubious whether Tim would make the squad, but we have to assume he’s been playing well in the training, and he’s in the squad along with goalkeepers Jasper Cillessen of Ajax and Michel Vorm of Swansea City.

It looks like Jeroen Zoet of PSV, a Newcastle target last summer, has missed out on the squad, and in the run-in to the World Cup Jasper Cillessen has been the number one goalkeeper.

But that could easily change as Holland play their warm up  games in the next week or so.

It’s really great news for Tim, and will literally be a dream come true for the Newcastle goalkeeper.

Maybe Holland could even win it – but England have to be the favorites surely.

Just kidding. :D

Here’s the 23 man Dutch squad:

Goalkeepers: Jasper Cillessen (Ajax), Michel Vorm (Swansea City), Tim Krul (Newcastle United)

Defenders: Paul Verhaegh (Augsburg), Daryl Janmaat (Feyenoord), Joel Veltman (Ajax), Stefan de Vrij (Feyenoord), Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa), Bruno Martins Indi (Feyenoord), Terence Kongolo (Feyenoord), Daley Blind (Ajax)

Midfielders: Leroy Fer (Norwich City), Nigel de Jong (AC Milan), Jordy Clasie (Feyenoord), Jonathan de Guzman (Swansea City), Georginio Wijnaldum (PSV), Wesley Sneijder (Galatasaray)

Forwards: Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich), Robin van Persie (Manchester United), Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Schalke), Dirk Kuyt (Fenerbahce), Jeremain Lens (Dynamo Kiev), Memphis Depay (PSV)

Comments welcome.

Waiting for our first real player coming in is like waiting for Hally’s comet.

England will be luck to make it by the group stage. They brought a very young team tbf… Last 7 teams should be Spain/Brazil/ Argentina/France/germany/Belguim/ and maby Portugal. I have probably left a few favorites out aswell.

Although saying that it’s the world cup literally anything can happen that’s what makes it so special. Can’t wait to it starts.

Nut Meg, Halley’s comet arrives every 99 years – regular as colckwork. NUFC haven’t a clue, we are now a sham of a club.

Graeme, it arrives every 75 years. More often than a Toon trophy win.

Novo, obviously has a better engine than our midfield then lol

In September 2009, he received a 16-week sentence after he stripped naked in the cattle pen, released the cattle and climbed into the slurry spreader. On his release, Ashley returned to the farm and sat naked in cow muck. He was jailed for a further 20 weeks. He was jailed for two years in September 2011 after police caught him naked in a field harassing the Keegan family.

Ashley’s rap sheet doesn’t read too well eh…

Wasnt there some waffle last season from the toon saying how other clubs were spending money they didnt have and how prudence will pay off bla bla bla.
Well lets see, unless the spend close to 50 million this window they are trousering money. That money isnt being used to pay the zombie loan MA uses to get his tatty advers for nothing.
No its simply profits,i dont mind the company making profits but how can this so called financial wizardry card be played when they dont use theses profits to pay back the “loan”

Krul getting into the Dutch World Cup squad is great news for Mr Ashley. It means he can ask for more money for Krul when he returns from Brazil.

We won’t be spending too much of it though!
