There seems just no way that Steven Taylor will move to another club this summer, certainly not if the local lad from Whitley Bay has anything to do with it.
Steven Taylor – going nowhere – according to his agent
You can have your own opinions on Steven and how good he is, but this lad is dedicated to his home town club, and its really hard to argue with that.
Steven made his debut back in 2004, when the great Sir Bobby Robson was managing the club, and since then he has made 245 appearances with 14 goals for Newcastle, and he was a starter at the beginning of last season, but lost his place after he was sent off in that first (nightmare) game at the Etihad.
Because of his vast experience in the Premier league, its not surprising that Steven is in great demand, and both QPR and West Ham have been interested in the 28 year-old, who has never quite fulfilled the promise he showed when he was captain of the England U21 side.
His agent is Jonathan Hope, and he has said this to Sky Sports today:
“I can confirm that I’ve had talks to several clubs in regards to Taylor.” “Yes a lot of interest and great opportunities but I will state now that Steven Taylor is going nowhere.
“He is contractually obliged to Newcastle United and he wants to play for the club he loves.”“Despite media reports I’m saying now Steven Taylor and myself are not interested in talking to anyone else.
¨Our focus is Newcastle and fighting for a place in Alan Pardew’s plans.¨ “We are not looking to leave Newcastle and hopefully this will end speculation over his future.”
We suppose the only way Steven would leave this summer is if Newcastle get that proverbial ¨offer they cannot refuse¨ and owner Mike Ashley wants to take the money – again.
But we expect Steven, who has two years left on his contract at the club, to go all out in pre-season to try to regain a starting position in the side.
And in any case, it’s always good to have some Geordie lads in the team, who can show the other players what Geordie passion and pride is all about, and how important Newcastle United are to their fans and to the City itself, and that cannot be bad.
The City of Newcastle upon Tyne is Newcastle United.
Comments and opinions always welcome – but please be civil to other readers – and to everybody else for that matter – thanks.

Comment #2He is one of the highest paid players in the team , no team would be stupid enough to match his salary (well maybe QPR), why wouldnt he stay at this joke of a club like?

Apparently we have to also be “patient” regarding Cabella and orher potential transfers?

Let’s ship out our young promising CB after 1 season but keep one if the highest earners here despite not getting more than an average of 14 error filled games a season out of “local hero”
Can’t break into the squad in front of Willo…….

absolutely superb below
The club is acting like it can get away with low offers… there needs to be a serious reality check, if anything we should be paying slightly over the odds for players.
How exactly could you sell our club to a potential player, with 4 wins in the last 21 games, and two of those wins only coming via a lucky injury time goal… you cannot exactly speak to Cabella and tell him what a rising club we are.
You would think we were a prestigious club with a full trophy room, renowned for our stylish football and development of young players… we can go in and offer what we want for players, because they must be just itching to come play for us. — In realty we are a side that finished the season playing 5-4-1 with 2 of those midfielders being defensive, so basically a 7 defenders, with 2 tracking back orientated wingers, trying to get the ball up to a striker that scored an average of 2 goals a season.
I can only pray that Cabella has not been following our progress, if he knew what a shoddy outfit we were, he would run a mile.

Comment #13Surely, all you have to do is ask a basic, simple, question.
Who is the better CB – Saylor or Mbiwa?
Mbiwa is twice the player Taylor will ever be, if only P45DUE would play him in the correct position. He was superb alongside Wiliamson while Captain Colo was having a jolly in Argentina and was dropped for no reason other than a whim of the so called manager – and I use the term very loosely indeed.

i always kid myself the darkest hours are before the dawn but there just literally seems no way out of this mess now.
As I said before, the people who Pardew could attract and that ash would pay for, make me shudder.

pardew always whinges about a lack of a squad but nobody told him to split the willo / MYM partnership to accommodate an aging Colo who doesn’t even want to be here.
MYM gave us some desperately needed pace in the middle while Willo, Colo and especially Saylor, turn slower than boats !!
Finding a defender with pace is crucial these days.
pardew and saylor are 2 of the most arrogant people you’ll ever see and with so little to actually base it on.

Comment #16Rotonda. you’re right mate, he managed to come up with that masterstroke all on his ownsome!! Took a great partnership apart for a “Dont want to be here” and then look what happened – how many games did we loose after that? Conceding more goals than at anytime during the season.
What a farce.

Comment #17Does anyone know much about this Victor Ibarbo who we have been linked with, I have just been watching him on Youtube and he is a very big bloke, strong as an ox, can use both feet and has blistering pace, what an ideal set up he has to be an incredible centre forward, but you then look at his goals record and he averages 1 in about every 10 games, which makes him about as potent as Shola, but does anyone know a little bit more about him.

I know it’s a bit sad but you obviously love your stats and I know this is another 10 mins you’ll never get back, but could you please find out what was MYM’s record when played with Willo?
Perhaps more to the point what was Willo’s and Colo’s overall record together to the end of the season.

Comment #24What annoys me more than the splitting up MYM and Willo is the fact that he never really gave MYM a proper go in defence with Colo together the 2 of them read the game excellent and can keep possession only problem might have been the heading but MYM is good in the air just needs to get used to the english game
Also when we went with 3 centre backs MYM should have been there the last game he played centre half he had Shane Long in his back pocket at Hull but then has never been played there since
So frustrating seeing clearly talented players like MYM , Arfa , Abeid , Bigi etc being held back by Pardew or just not used at all same happened at all his previous clubs as well

cheers for that, well if thats the case then he could be worth a shout as he does appear to be a beast, he is as powerful as Sissoko and probably a bit quicker and Sissoko is quick, but certainly he has a better first touch, getting him as a right winger with Sissoko in his true position alongside Tiote would be something to look forward to, if it ever happened, players with pace and power who run at defenders are a nightmare to defend against, this would be good, I’ve gone from thinking oh no as a striker, to yes please as a winger ?
