Newcastle Fight Juventus For Young French Whiz Kid

9:41 am, Monday, June 2nd, 2014 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 62 Comments

There were reports in France over the weekend that Newcastle could be interested in 17 year-old Kingsley Coman, who is a central midfielder at PSG, and the news is that Newcastle have been watching the promising young player, who has played for all the French Youth sides through U19.

kingsley coman ---johannes-hopf-23-07-2013--hammarby---paris-saint-germain-match-de-preparation-stockholm-20130724094435-1862

Kingsley Coman – top young Frenchman at PSG

Coman was born in Paris, and he made his debut for his home town club in February of last year against Sochaux in a 3-2 defeat, and that made him the youngest player ever to play for Paris Saint-Germain, at the age of 16 years, 8 months and 4 days – approximately.

Coman has played 4 times for the PSG first team, and Newcastle are reported to be interested in signing the top youngster, although Juventus are also after the player, and they would be favorites if that interest in true.

PSG also have a contract offer in front of the player, but it looks he is ready to leave his home town club.

And Newcastle will have its attractions for the lad, and we still have a top name in France,  and he would be fast-tracked at Newcastle, and more so than at Juventus or PSG.

And this is also is the young age we need to sign players at, if we are to spot them young, and hopefully turn them into future top players at Newcastle.

That has been the plan for last seven years, but Newcastle have not been too successful at doing that – not yet anyway.

This lad would be a good signing for Newcastle, if we can get him,  and he turns 18 on June 13th – unlucky for some.

Comments welcome.

  • 2 stuart no9 // Jun 2, 2014 at 9:46 AM

Not bothered how good the kid ‘may be ‘ in the future , he is no good to us now what so ever , we need players who are going to keep us up next season . He is not one of them . Waste of time at the moment .

Well the WC is now but days away
The club said they would like all there business done early and before the WC
The selling clubs will be reluctant to do business before then (if the player we want is going to the WC that is) as a good comp could see there price rise
Three of our supposed targets in Grenier Cabella and Lacazette are in with a shout of going Grenier seems nailed on and Lacazette and Cabella could earn call ups if Franck Ribery doesn’t recover from his injury

Can’t see this being a good summer for the club

    Toon Prodigy
Fully agree mate, has been my arguement for ages
We’ve had since January to have deals in place to replace the likes of Cabaye Remy and LDJ plus set up deals for players like Marv HBA etc be that new contracts or offering there services to prospective new clubs
But here we are approaching yet another window once again seemingly putting all our efforts in to one player with no alternatives

Even the back room staff aren’t properly replaced ffs!
Promoting Charnley and Beardsley, Beardsley may prove to be a decent move but who’s taken over his duties?
As for Charnley it’s a ridiculous move

The club like it or not have hugely damaged there reputation with that ridiculous statement and in all honesty if they are going to attract any sort of half decent player we have now squarely planted ourselves in a position we will have to over pay as with no ambition we have little else to offer other than wages
    It’s a joke

  • 4 lesh // Jun 2, 2014 at 9:56 AM

Sign kids like this by all means but our Development Squad management and coaching is clearly inadequate.

If Coman joined us having turned out for PSG, any talent he has would be completely wasted. He wouldn’t get anywhere near the first team and end up farmed out to some lower league club and then deemed not worth retaining.

Rather than recruit raw talent, Ashley’d be better off sorting out our coaching and development staffing first.

We are a lost cause for youngsters and this lad’d be be best advised to look elsewhere.

  • 5 the truth will out // Jun 2, 2014 at 9:59 AM

cant sort himself out thats why his missus f’d off

  • 6 stuart no9 // Jun 2, 2014 at 10:01 AM

ED. I don’t think you have yet grasped Ashley’s policy on buying players . He wants to buy young to sell at a profit in a few years time . If you still think he is buying young to bring them up and turn them into future greats for ‘ this’ club, you are still a bit naive as to this whole buying and selling lark . If we bought this “” great player “”. 1. Pardew would do what he does best – f””k him up , 2 nd. Ashley would sell him on any way – so – from a fans point of view , why buy him ????

  • 7 theartfuldodger // Jun 2, 2014 at 10:02 AM

Alright then..Is Ashley mentally and financially prepared for relegation ?

  • 8 the truth will out // Jun 2, 2014 at 10:05 AM

we need to drop to league 1 to get shot of the fat ffin git

  • 9 Toon-Prodigy // Jun 2, 2014 at 10:06 AM

Alreet Tads, hope your keeping well mate.

They are so confusing with their behaviour arn’t they? They do this every transfer window, it’s the same old scenario time and time again exactly how you have said it. For me, it should be a case of offering the right coin and get these lads tied up as soon as possible. If it’s a no go you drop down to your next target.

The money is there, the clubs money, spend it on what is needed and be done with it.

They play cat and mouse right across the window putting in pathetic bids as if there is no urgency at all in the matter time and time again. Then they hide behind excuses because they havn’t got the player for which they think he is worth. It’s unbelievable. For me, it’s because who ever we sign, they want to make sure they can make a tidy profit on the said player first and foremost.

How about just getting the player in and pay his market value? Tons of money has just been given to the club what excuses can they have?

It’s my bed time, i’ll catch you in a bit mate.

  • 10 bobby mango // Jun 2, 2014 at 10:08 AM

Yeah sign him and he’ll get lost with all the other thing prospects.
Good, m’bau, kemen, big etc… What had happened to them?

  • 11 nut meg // Jun 2, 2014 at 10:13 AM

    Lesh @ 4
IMO your bang on the money. We badly need a cull at the coaching setup. A set of quality coaches as against the jobs for the boys that we have at the minute & I’m convinced we could be bringing players through the system. What do we have to lose? Nothing is my guess.

  • 12 stuart no9 // Jun 2, 2014 at 10:13 AM

Artfuldodger—-_ yes he is . Ashley , unlike pardew , has a plan B . Ashley ,IMO can look a lot further than his nose . If we do go down , and I think we will he will have something or someone to in mind to sell the club at a decent price , simply because his time will be up . He would have made his money and he will realise the profits won’t be there anymore . Time t move on and find someone else to rip off .

  • 15 jazzyp // Jun 2, 2014 at 10:40 AM

Its all well and good signing these young potential targets for the future, but do we not think that the first team needs sorting out first ??

  • 16 toonarmydownsouth // Jun 2, 2014 at 10:43 AM

Alreet fella aye all well lad catch ya later!

  • 17 Rotonda heights // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:01 AM

This policy of finding youngsters is all well and good if you have a technically competent manager and coaches to develop them, but absolutely hopeless with our crock of s—e dinosaurs.

Can’t believe that Ash hasn’t tumbled to the fact that just hiring your drinking buddies and yes men can’t replace properly qualified people, ie like Meulensteen etc.

On the surface: Kemen, Perez, Satka, Armstrong, M’Babu, Haidara, Campbell, Aarons etc are an exciting future / near future but Pardew et al are pathetic coaches and have no place in modern, progressive football.

  • 18 Rotonda heights // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:04 AM

    Forgot Bigirimana as well!

Am almost looking forward to relegation if it finally meant the end of this poisonous toxic crowd

  • 19 beermonkey // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:07 AM

look at the kid at the top of the page were linked with
at 17 he has already played 4 times for psg when was the last time one of our youngsters played at a young age when pards starts playing them there in there 20s

  • 20 the truth will out // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:09 AM

gotta go down two flights to get shot of the fat greedy tw#t

  • 21 jazzyp // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:12 AM

Rumour of Bendtner circulating the press again today. Will definitely show Ashley’s intent if this is the type of player we are truly looking at. Was a pile of crap while at the unwashed and has not improved since.
Gomis-Colback and Bendtner will surely tell us all where we are heading next season

  • 22 Rotonda heights // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:15 AM

    Quite amusing from Paul Dixon
    – – – – – – – –

It also sets trends, and the latest being our former supremo Big Sam having to sign an entertainment agreement, akin to Phil Jupitus having to sign a ‘be funny’ agreement.

This may catch on, Pardew could sign a ‘Try and score a second when we take the lead’ or ‘start to win games, after going behind’ clause.

  • 23 Rotonda heights // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:18 AM

it’s amazing though, despite publically declaring a lack of any ambition, we’ll still see 52000 turn up.

  • 24 toonarmydownsouth // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:21 AM

Wow tbf Lambert for £4 mil is a great signing

  • 25 toonarmydownsouth // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:24 AM

@lee_ryder: #nufc not in contention to sign free agent Nicklas Bendtner

God I hope Ryder is right for once

  • 26 Graeme // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:26 AM

Just read that, Rotonda and cant see P45DUE signing any more clauses in his Contract – especially ones he cant fulfill.

He has stated many times that he, personally, has been working with our “Defensive Unit” to ensure they are fully prepared and ready for it.
errrrrrr – how many goals did we conceed from Christmas onwards?????

  • 27 jazzyp // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:27 AM

I don’t think we will pal if this summer turns out signings like mentioned above.
Its at the stage now with a lot of fans where enough is enough. He’s running our club in to the ground and bleeding the squad dry. Look at how the Hierarchy kicked off at Arsenal’s derisory offer for cabs and yet we offer Half the value of what Cabella is worth

  • 28 jazzyp // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:30 AM

You and me both mate. Would be disgusted if we signed the lad. Has always come across as if he thinks he’s God’s gift and better than what he actually is !!

  • 29 beermonkey // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:33 AM

I would rather we pay gomis his 100k a week than have bentner here
    cant stand him

  • 30 toonarmydownsouth // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:35 AM

@lee_ryder: Rickie Lambert has thanked #nufc boss Alan Pardew for bringing him to #saintsfc and laying foundations for dream move to #lfc

Then why not try and get him here?
Proven goalscorer seems happy enough not to be guaranteed a starting spot and we only have 2 CFs who collectively only got half his season tally

  • 31 toonarmydownsouth // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:37 AM

    Aye mate he’s awful
Gutless wonder who’s openly mocked by fans up and down the country
Actually sounds a good fit for Pards!

  • 32 jazzyp // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:39 AM

You and me both mate. I just wish we would finally go out and get some top players to sign for Nufc, Rather than looking like we are going to be scraping the barrel again for player’s nobody wants.
We could easily have cabella and Greneir for roughly what we received for Cabs, yet are offering stupid money again. Although its been reported again that we had negotiated a deal for Cabella and the player had agreed a 50k a week deal and was ready to fly over for a medical, Until Nicolin pulled the deal at the last minute.

  • 33 jazzyp // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:42 AM

Your right in thinking why we did not indeed go in for this player. 4 mill and would guarantee us around 15 goals a season.
Must be the age thing again eh !!

  • 34 ilovetoon8788 // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:44 AM

Strange to see clubs like Southampton coming out to reassure fans that replacement for Lambert will be made and even Reading FC assuring fans funds are in place for new signings.

Meanwhile in Newcastle players are sold and we have no idea of the intentions of our club whatsoever.. well done.

  • 35 Blofal // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:48 AM

I think Ashley has been playing too much xbox.

I used to start out recruiting young guns and selling then in a few years for big money. I also used to being in high level players on loan.

Eventually after a few seasons you would find yourself competing for the league with the big players and a budget swelling from player sales.

I wonder if he has twigged it doesn’t quite work that way in real life.

  • 36 beermonkey // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:52 AM

I wouldn’t put it past that nicolin but I still think the deal was to cheap

lambert is a good deal for 4 mill he is a Liverpool fan so good luck to him

there are lots of players out there and again we seem to be stuck in france looking at 2 players while others pass us buy

mbiwa most seem miffed he could be out the door,
I thought is was a bit of coup when we got him big talent he signed a deal till 2019 with us so I cant believe were ready to ship him out already

next season there are a few first teamers out the door if w e don’t offer new deals if this window looks glum next year will be worse

  • 37 beermonkey // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:54 AM

if that was true on the xbox front we would have signed remy and he wouldn’t have gone to qpr

  • 38 Graeme // Jun 2, 2014 at 11:57 AM

Oh well – back to a “Now we have agreed to sign Cabella!!!

lesh-i agree with you our staff are useless compared to southampton however 2 of their staff have left the club and shaw said it was because of them he is playing in the first team so perhaps we should offer them a job and get rid of ours or did we offer them 8yr contracts

Impressive last season. Especially for 1.5 million

Aye mate he had a cracking season and was great for them in there promotion push

1.5 mill for mutch and he is only 22

Yeah 1.5 million is a bargain in my opinion.

  • 54 sweendog // Jun 2, 2014 at 12:48 PM
