Sky Sports is reporting that the deals to bring in Sunderland’s Jack Colback as a free agent, and Ayoze Perez of Tenerife for €2M, are very close to completion, and two other deals Newcastle want to complete quickly are those for two Frenchmen – 24 year-old midfielder Remy Cabella and nd 28 year-old striker Bafetimbi Gomis.
Remy Cabella – Newcastle in advanced negotiations?
Sunderland midfielder Colback has been in some demand this year, but the news earlier in the week was that the 24 year-old is ready to sign on at Newcastle when he returns from his summer vacation.
Once Jack returns he will undergo a medical, and will sign what is being called a long term deal at Newcastle – that would be good news.
And a deal for Ayoze Perez was essentially completed a few weeks back, and the 20 year-old Spanish striker will sign in the next few days, when he is expected to visit Newcastle to have his medical and sign his new contract.
And the news yesterday was that Newcastle have made a second bid for our top target Remy Cabella, the 24 year-old Montpellier midfielder, and Sky Sports is reporting that the two clubs are close to a deal, which could be around £8M.
Newcastle’s first bid of £6.5M was rejected last Friday, and it seems we have gone in maybe with an increase of around £2M, but it’s nowhere near the £12M that Montpellier Chairman Louis Nicollin wants forr Cabella – but the truth is he will not get that for his midfielder – and he knows it.
It’s interesting that Sky is reporting they understand that no formal bid has yet been lodged by Newcastle with Montpellier – which is interesting – and confusing too – it’s hard to know what to believe during the summer transfer window.
And the fourth player Newcastle are hoping to nail down soon – and probably before next week’s World Cup starts – is long term target Bafe Gomis, who is another free agent from Lyon, and we tried to sign the striker (all of) last summer.
Sky are reporting that Gomis has decided he really does want to play in the Premier League, and Newcastle are reported to be in the driver’s seat to sign him, after Gomis’ agents contacted Newcastle recently – so let’s hope we don’t mess it up this time around.
So if we get those four players in, three of them are senior signings with two of them being free agents, and Perez will join in all likelihood join the Development group.
Those four players could cost us around £10M – which is not much at all – given the money we have available to spend – or we should have available to spend – is probably the more accurate way of saying that.
The final bit of news from Sky Sports is that while Newcastle are very interested in 22 year-old Hertha Berlin striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga, they will not make any move for Leeds United striker Ross McCormack.
That’s interesting – if it’s true.

Comment #7so we have signed perez
this is good another talented player to come in like so many before him
the reason he signed there is a rumoured of a special plan to get the best out of him which is why he chose us over others
I cant believe the plan is to give him to beardo cos if that the special plan the lad is doomed

Comment #10Didn’t I read that Gomis was all set to sign for ?
Mind I’d read that before hearing that Harry (I’ll do my damndest to banrupt any club) Rednapp offered a cool £70k a week?
Isn’t it about time that FFP rules were introduced for the Prem!

there is a role at the club for beardo but its not coaching
but he must enjoy maybe he should retake his licences and maybe pick up some new training methods as the old ones don’t work same could be said of the manager though

There my be a misunderstanding in that rather than there being a special plan to get the best out of him. He’ll soon find out that we tend to train the best out of players!

Rednapp’s probably hijacked him ala Remy. If so, they got my sincere wishes for all the success they deserve!

What? A relationship between lack of ticket renewals and an extension of two weeks to do so? Never!
And never would our owner trail signings to try to get those season ticket sales moving.
That’s just cynical as are you for even thinking it!
Mind, you’re not far wrong though.

Comment #23These 4, plus Lassoga and a commanding centre back who is an aerial threat from corners and is about the minimum required, I think.
To replace Benny, Remy, Cabaye, Marv, Gosling, Shola, Obertan, and anyone of Willo, Taylor or Mbiwa.
Might get more out of Good, Abeid, Sammi and the kid with the big noggin, whose name escapes me.
Probably still wouldn’t be enough to make us a better side than started the last campaign and they’ll struggle to offload all the players they’d like too also, if the recent past is any indication.
We probably need Grenier too.

Comment #24well to all those people that will rush to get there season tickets if we sign cabella remember it took pardew 2 seasons to put cabaye further up the pitch where he had played at his last club
so be prepared to see him sat next to tiote for quite some time that is if we sign him

Comment #28Don’t really want Gomis, feel Lasogga would be better value.
Grenier and Cabella would be nice, but we need pace and Lacazette ticks that box nicely.
