25 year-old Ajax captain Siem de Jong, the older brother of Luuk de Jong, who had a failed loan spell at Newcastle this year, has again confirmed that Newcastle United are interested in signing him this summer.
Siem de Jong 25 year-old Ajax captain
Newcastle have been interested in de Jong for over two years now, and since he has just one year left on his contract at the Dutch giants, he should be available at a reasonable fee.
Siem doesn’t know what will happen this summer, but he knows Newcastle are interested, as he has said this in Soccer News.
“Newcastle had a little chat with my agent.¨ ¨There had been previous contact, but nothing concrete has been agreed.¨ ¨Newcastle is a great club.”
Siem joined Ajax from De Graafschap in 2005, and he made his debut for them in 2007, and since then he’s played 244 games for Ajax with 78 goals, and last season he scored 9 goals in 28 appearances.
He’s another goal-scoring midfielder that Newcastle are very interested in signing this summer.
We would love to see Siem sign on at Newcastle, and if he does, maybe we could give his younger brother another chance – and sign him on a one year loan deal from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Luuk would certainly be motivated to score some goals for Newcastle next season, but he may not get another chance.
What do you think?

Comment #43Off topic but does anyone know of any Toon fans in the Pittsburgh area? Or even western PA? For the life of me I haven’t found any. Sure would be nice to catch some matches at the pub with people who aren’t the usual lot (ie arsenal, citeh, pool)

Not sure how many players we’d get in with my £10 winnings but I’d be a lot busier than fat ash!

Comment #45Beermonkey – I don’t recall in all my time posting on this blog the words ‘laughter’ and ‘niceness’ appearing anywhere, let alone in the same post. In my experience, there’s always a troll lurking ready to pounce on the party.

Comment #49Wasn’t pushed about this new Perez signing seeing he was playing in the Spanish second division but after seeing some videos it’s plain to see the lad is already better than a lot of our PRO’s.
He’s got quick feet, good chest control, can head the ball, can cross and take on players.
Looks decent

Comment #61We need english players now am sick of these remys and cabellas etc they all want away as soon as they come ,we need english lads its no good all this buying abroad every window ,i want to see some good old english grit we need a new jenas ,,,rodwell ,dyer ,,,,,,,will hughes
We should be buying from the championship in this window also so we dont loose our identity and be known as the foreign legion
Solid english spine in the club is what we need ,i actually preffered the teams with leon best and routledge we looked a hungrier side we have lost that english element to our game ,well lets face it we dont have a game we have been rubbish

Comment #63I think the most significant news of the week is that the period for renewing season tickets has been extended.
Anyone who believes that this is about the club struggling to deal with the weight of demand really has the ownership they deserve.
In the next week or so I expect Pardew to make a statement along the lines of: “season tickets thing has hurt us a little bit, if I’m honest. If fans won’t invest in the club, it gives us a problem, for sure. And maybe we won’t get one or two over the line we might have got otherwise.”
I say this because it is the type of insinuation the club has made before, and it has a habit of revisiting its threats.
They might not say this at all. But in case they were warming it up, I’ve helpfully floated it for them.

—————Sissoko—————Tiote—————
—HBA——————De Jong———–Cabella—
—————————-Gomis————————-
Gomis – Free
Cabella – £10 million
De Jong – £8 million

Comment #67No ! Not wishing to Pith on any of your Bonfires but Siem is not much of an improvement on his brother Luuk?
This will be another case across here of everyone ( Ajax Supporters ), taking the mick out of me when i see them!
Plus, the joker trying to say that he would have Siem before Cabella? Are you completely off your Trolley mon?
Who are we trying to Kid here?
Pardew has had so called talented players in the squad and he,s had them playing the Prem like it was Sunday League?
The lad from Tenerife is a step in the right direction, providing he does,nt let him rot in our so called “Development System”?
So typical that some on here were slagging this kid off even before he set foot in Newcastle!
I see that The Swans have signed Castaignos from FC Twente! He would of been a good signing for us? As would Boney of been? Its a case of same old, same old!
Also heard that Feyenoord Rotterdam are in for Ricky van Wolfswinkel from Norwich? A fact that my mate,
(Feyenoord Fan) was not pleased about !
I hope to god we don,t sign Siem de Jong ?

Comment #69If we could sign Hernandez I’d take him in a heartbeat, still quite young too (26/27 I think?). Think he could do a lot better than us unfortunately, probs champions league team or summit. And please don’t shoot me down, but if we could get Siem de Jong I’d take Luuk back on a year long loan, or sign him if under say 5 mil. I think with his brother here we would possible see a very different player. Also, I know he was garbage in the games he played, but so was everyone else, not exactly an ideal team to come in to when you’re trying to impress!

Comment #71I’d also take Franky Lampard on a 2 year contract. I can see him going to Spurs / Man U on a Michael Owen type contract, failing that a move to the MLS. Still has a lot to offer IMO

Comment #72Anyway, who am I kidding? Perez, Colback, Gomis and Siem de Jong are the only signings I reckon will happen, and perhaps another couple of young dudes. If we get Siem I actually think we might get Luuk, like it or lump it, loan or permanent if cheap enough

Rodwell? He made more less the same amount of games like Cabaye before he left. Jenas made 1 more season.
Tired of Remy? The guy that actully scored goals and Cabella who you must have never seen play since he got together with Tiote and Cabaye more more fight most english players.
So it’s wrong to put blame on our french players. Those that have performed (not Obertan, Marv etc) have been our best players.
Like you I also would like to see us sign Will Hughes, Tom Ince, and Ings but not because they are english but because they are promising youngsters like Cabella, Perez.
So don’t be tired to of our top french players be tired of the lack of quality in other departments like our defence, our bench, our tactics, and lack of creativity without our french top players on the pitch.

Comment #74we need English players at Newcastle ?? does this statement implies that we don’t need the best talent at Newcastle?? .the premier league main agenda is to attract the best footballing talent to Europe. is there any other meaning or good reasons why English players are the most suitable options??

Comment #75Sazzer…do you think we have any chance whatsoever of signing Remy? If he has a poor World Cup? I’m not even sure I’d want him. Can’t remember a player ever using us so blatantly to further his career, even poor Mr Ba wasn’t that shameless

Comment #76ganiyu, I agree, I personally don’t care if they’re English or not, provided they give their all. I mean, is there an English Ben Arfa or Cabaye or Tiote or Remy out there who who won’t be massively over priced? I think not
