Update – Newcastle Picking Up Steam In Transfer Market

There’s been some good news over the last few days for Newcastle in the transfer market, and it seems we have our first signing of the summer in Ayoze Perez, a 20 year-old right winger from Tenerife, and it’s likely his signing will be announced today.

ayoze perez 2

Ayoze Perez shown with Peter Beardsley yesterday
Ayoze brought the sunshine

And it’s almost certain that we have won the race to sign Jack Colback from Sunderland as a free agent, and we think Jack will turn out to be a great singing for us.

Add to that the fact that Sky Sports is reporting we are at an advanced stage with Montpellier to sign top midfield target Remy Cabella, and things are starting to pick up on Tyneside.

Sky Sports is also reporting that Newcastle are in the driver’s seat to finally sign long-term target Bafe Gomis from Lyon, and he’s another free agent – what a saga it’s been with Bafe over the last eighteen months or so. 🙁

There’s confusion about whether we bid for 27 year-old Leeds United captain and striker Ross McCormack, but it seems we could also be after the Championship Player of the Season – Danny Ings of Burnley – who was top scorer in the Championship last season.

Danny has only one year left on his contract, and he doesn’t seem too keen to sign a new deal at the Turf Moor Club.

Add to that the fact we are reported to be very interested in bringing 22 year-old German striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga of Hertha Berlin, and 25 year-old midfielder Siem de Jong – the Ajax captain – to Newcastle this summer, and we seem to be going after some very decent players this summer.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating of course, and we’ll need to see who we can get into the club this summer, but we could have some decent signings before the World Cup starts in Brazil next Thursday.

And that would be good news.

Comments welcome.

Actually Ings was the 6th top scorer, and the pic with Beardsley was first shown yesterday, but was taken at least two weeks ago.

Well its about friggin time Ed that we actually made an impression on the transfer market.
The squad needs over hauling big time as it’s been run down to the bare bones. Although a big hit in the championship, Im still unsure on Mcormack or Ings. I doubt any of the top 6 teams in the PL will be looking at this calibe of player so why should we, If we are to start to challenge these teams !!

If that’s the case it serves us right for fcuking about in the first place mate, we’ve had since January to try and get it sorted and maybe even last summer when they knew cabs wanted to leave!

Unprofessional, underprepared and a joke of a transfer policy with the added bonus of putting in lowball offers whilst other clubs snatch them away!

    Fcuking disgrace

I rate colbeck, he has been one of sunderlands unsung heros if u ask me

and like I say , I don’t trust we will ever see the players we buy show there talent under pardew,

so for me , messi or colbeck , bale or Perez , it’s all the same , they will be asked JUST to do a job for the team , no thinking for them selfs

I agree with you. No matter who we buy or how much money we use the players will always be held back by Pardew. Some class players will be able to produce, like Cabaye and Remy, because it’s printed in their genes. But all in all we will have 11 players under achieving as long as Pardew is here. The exeptions might be Williamson and perhaps Perch(read limited and ancient footballers).

The best investment in this window would easily be to allocate £15m from the transfer budget and use it to sack Pardew and to get a new manager and backroom staff.

    Pardew out!

According to La Provence, Marseille have made an official bid for Montpellier attacking midfielder Remy Cabella, which has been turned down by the club because it was too low.

Cabella, who is in talks with Newcastle, was told by Montpellier that they would be rejecting the €8m offer that Marseille made for him. OM are now likely to give up on this target, being judged as too expensive.

The player is widely expected to be included in France’s World Cup Squad in some capacity in Brazil, with both Clement Grenier and Franck Ribery most likely to have to quit the squad through injury.

yeah I agree totally mate. Weve had 6month to tie this lad down to a deal and are still p@ssing in the wind.
Marseille have gone in for the lad now which throws a spanner in the works. All we can hope for is that he has set his heart on Nufc if the media are to be believed

According to La Provence, Marseille have contacted Newcastle central defender Mapou Yanga MBiwa about a possible move.

The player has has failed negotiations with both Lille and Bordeaux, after he was judged to have asked for too great a salary.

Marseille are thought to have merely enquired about the player at the time of writing

Some good news this morning then, not sure paying £8m for Ings who untested and unproven at this level is a good idea…especially considering he has 1 year left on his contract.

Cabella yes please, Gomis…we need a striker and believe we will sign 1 more CF, I personally think the guy would do well here but I’m also certain I heard he was off to Fenerbache.

Colback is what he is, lets hope he’s as good as some think he is on here because we will be selling Santon or Haidara to accommodate this lad

I think we will breakeven this window again only time will tell, expect some of the lads to be shipped out but probably not before this extension to the SEASON TICKET window closes…..strange how this news coincides with that particular news. Lambs to the slaughter

I for one am happy we’re clearly showing some interest in signings. I would take ings because he’s young enough and has a real chance of stepping up. Also perez may be from a lower league but he can clearly find the net and provide some assists, he’s a good buy for the price.
Colback will likely be the next perchinho as Pardew will probably plug him in any gap on either flank or in cdm through to cam.
Gomis I’m not sold on, he could be the replacement for shola! Haha
Siem de Jong? If we really are interested and we get him it’ll be interesting to see what he can do. As long as he’s better than his brother

Maybe you have a point buddy as in the style of play under Pardew last season. Personally I think Willo had his best season for us since he has been here. And I think statistically Debs was the best right back in Europe, So they are positives.
but our attacking playas you rightly say leaves a lot to be desired

Perez, McCormack and Ings were not exactly the strikers I had in mind, but we need numbers right now seeing as we will employ more full backs (7) than centrebacks and strikers combined (6) next season.

Siem De Jong is a fanatastic player, bright, can pick a pass, is a hard worker and could be a talisman. Very Cabaye like

looks like its Liverpool … how we have fallen under this shambles of a management team .. Ashley thinks buying players is like buying cheap tat from Sports Direct .. if you buy the right player, their price goes up .. haggling too much over a quality player is just plain nonsense.

I think £9m would be enough, cash upfront and not in installments!! They need money as well apparently. Call me cynical but all this news is on the back of an extension to the season ticket window, looks like we seem to be doing enough to keep fans happy but without really doing anything!! Especially if Leeds Chairman is to be believed

Although injured would ya put a cheeky bid in for Greneir now as well. By all accounts Lyon have until the 20th of this month to raise 20 mill euros. So either Lacazette or greneir may have to be sold before the world cup starts

We could have done with him last year, i think hes probably a step up fdom Anita

    I agree

    jazzy

I really don’t want to offend you and if you think Willo had a good season , the good for you, but in reality he had a shocking season, for these reasons

he is 6ft 4, yet for me he might as well be 5ft4, he puts a defensive header on the ball and it goes anywhere , he does not seem to think about where the ball will end up,

against good CF they out muscle him and / or just run around him

free kicks all go towards him, yet I have never seen him attack the ball as if he wants it, steven taylor is a numpty, but he wants to win the ball any way he can,

his passing out of defence , can we call it passing, he can pass it side ways, our whole team seems great at that, but more often than not, he just lumps it long and we don’t have anyone up front, to receive it

my personal opinion is the team sinks to his level, he has not had a good season, we conceded way to many goals and he was the one who played in most of them

debuchy, pure quality, some of the balls he puts into the box, amazing, will run all day for you,

what gets me is, cabaye, he was quality on the ball, but when you team him up with willo as his main target, we are just wasting good opportunities. its like ground hog day every match

like I said up above, I rate colback, every time I have watched him play, he has been there best player, he is twice the player jorden Henderson is, and he went for crazy money,
    puts his foot in
seems to be a good passer
scores goals in a poor team
gets the ball and drives forward

    I for one welcome him,

Probably how poor we were last season maybe did make willo look like a star performer. Personally last summer when Swansea were sniffing around I was one of those hoping he would be sold. But to his credit although not the most gifted CB we have had grace SJP I think out of the back four….Along with Debs he was the best out of the bunch

@catchy – yeah i agree, think he’ll be a good signing! Be nice to sign a player at the right age that doesn’t need time to adapt to the league!
Also, since when can you have too many geordies in the squad! Putting my neck out here but if he signs and plays centre midfield where he is strongest I think he’ll be a future captain!
