Newcastle Checking On Ghana International Striker

News in the Express today that Newcastle United will watch Ghana striker Majeed Waris during the World Cup to start next Thursday in Brazil.

Majeed Waris

Majeed Waris – 22 year-old Spartak Moscow striker

22 year-old Majeed Waris joined Valenciennes on loan in January for Spartak Moscow, because he was not getting enough playing time in Russia, and he wanted to earn a place in Ghana’s World Cup squad.

And in 16 appearances for the French club this year he scored nine goals and had five assists, but he couldn’t help his club survive, and Valenciennes finished second bottom, 13 points from safety, and were relegated to the French second division.

Before he joined Spartak Moscow, he played for Swedish club BK Hacken from 2010-2012, and in 65 appearances for them he scored 30 goals and had 11 assists, so this lad seems like a useful striker, and he stands 5’8″ tall – the same height as Michael Owen.

Majeed was named a provisional 26-man squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup by Ghana manager James Kwesi Appiah, and two days ago he was named in the final 23 man squad.

The news is that Newcastle will be watching his performances for Ghana in Brazil, with a view to possibly signing the youngster.

He has played 9 times with 4 goals so far for his country.

Would prefer us not to sign another African striker !!Always going away for African nations and we will probably not have sufficient back up !

Have watched lots of footage of that Perez tonight he looks some prospect could see him playing left CF for us in a 4231 or 433 him Arfa, Cabella and Gouffran could interchange between striker and forwards awesome …. shame its Pardew we have and not someone like Rodgers who would actually try that out !!!

Yeh if Cabella puts in even one good WC performance then Nicollin will up his price and we will miss out.

I see it’s official now with ribery and grenier dropping out and sniederling and Cabella called in to replace them!

If there was a chance of getting cabella it’s all but disappeared as Nicollin will no doubt point to the fact his player is going to the world cup and will up the price accordingly regardless if he gets much game time or not

Should of moved faster/sooner and out in a decent bid not a joke of one

    Fcuking regime at it’s finest!

    Fat kunt!

How many different players per day can we be linked with without actually signing anyone?

On brothers De Jong, hope we sign the right brother this time! Or, isn’t there a two for one brothers offer available? No, seriously, it would be ‘neat’ to have the two brothers combining for goals: DJ to DJ, back to DJ, goal!

    And Ed,
here’s your challenge. Don’t mention the word ‘Cabaye’ for a week. I know you can do it man.

I’m glad somebodies keeping the score as it clearly shows how totally misleading all the press reports are.

I bet Graham Carr has a real chuckle at breakfast every time he reads the back pages.

I hope you will keep us updated with the score when Ed tells us of another player we are linked with.

Will we reach the magic 100?
