Alan Pardew is pushing for Newcastle to complete a number of signings before the World Cup starts next Thursday, and the Newcastle manager was delighted to have signed 20 year-old winger Ayoze Perez yesterday for £1.6M from Tenerife.

Ayoze Perez – after signing for Newcastle

Some top clubs rumored to be after the player include Real Madrid, Benfica and Arsenal, and this is what Alan Pardew has said:

“We’re delighted to confirm our first signing of the summer and very pleased to have Ayoze at Newcastle United, as a number of other clubs were chasing his signature too.”

“He had a terrific season in Spain last year and is a player who we hope to develop further on Tyneside.” “He’s only 20 but has a very good eye for goal, and that’s a great asset for any young player to have.”

It’s Newcastle’s first permanent signing in over sixteen months, and the youngster is a good addition to the Newcastle squad, and he seems to have a great attitude and this i some of what he had this to say on nufcTV in his first interview at Newcastle:

“There’s been many clubs interested in me, but this one was the most serious one, and the one that has treated me the best and valued me the most.”

“The negotiation has been very good and that helps when you want to choose which club to go to.” “All those clubs are important but I have to look after my interests and I think at Newcastle I can do great things, can grow there and help the club grow.”

“Any football player would be interested in playing for such a club and playing in the Premier League for Newcastle.”

While Ayoze will probably start off in the development squad, he has big ambitions and wants to play in the first team just as soon as possible – and that cannot be bad.

Comments welcome.

On brothers De Jong, hope we sign the right brother this time! Or, isn’t there a two for one brothers offer available? No, seriously, it would be ‘neat’ to have the two brothers combining for goals: DJ to DJ, back to DJ, goal!

    Seems like a good kid.

Nice to hear negotiations were a plus point contrary to the negatives we usually hear about / imagine.

General pr drivel for a new signing. Proof is in the pudding.

Amalfitano nowhere to be seen. Create players out, sloggers in.
