Newcastle Now Linked With Argentine Winger

There is news today that Newcastle are interested in 25 year-old Argentine midfielder Diego Perotti, who is currently at Sevilla, and has played twice for the full Argentine National side.

Diego Perotti

Diego Perotti – 25 year-old Sevilla left winger

We were first linked with Perotti back in the summer of 2011, when we were flush with the £35M we got from Liverpool for Andy Carroll, but nothing came of that initial interest in the Argentine.

Perotti joined Sevilla from Buenos Aries club Deportivo Moron back in 2007, when he was just 18, and so far he has played 159 games for the Spanish side with 16 goals and 25 assists, and near the end of last season he went on loan to Boca Juniors, back in his homeland.

Perotti mainly plays on the left wing, but he is good with either foot, and here’s another example of Newcastle after a midfielder who can potentially score some goals.

The story is in The Sun and the transfer fee is a typically low one, just £3.5M, and even we can afford that. 😀

One reason that Diego was sent on loan to Boca Juniors is that he was finding it hard to get a game at Sevilla, and last season he played 21 games with 5 goals and 2 assists.

So there’s not much we can see in his record that would suggest why Newcastle think he is any better than the wingers we already have at the club, and who we’ll be letting go this summer, such as Gabriel Obertan, Sylvain Marveaux and Jonas Gutierrez.

And the season before last, Diego played just 20 games with one goal and one assist – so he’s not exactly a regular for Sevilla, who finished 5th top of the Spanish League last season.

His two caps were also way back in 2009, so from what we can tell Perotti looks like a fairly ordinary player, and not much better than the wingers we already have at the club, and who are deemed not good enough for the team.

This lad seems a mediocre player at best.

What do you think?

just what we need, another injury prone winger, sounds alot like another Obertool and not knocking down the door at Sevilla. why cant Pard-noccio just work with Benni and stop F”$%ing about.

If we want wingers we should go after players like Ayew, Townsend & Ince .

According to FIFA there are 265million players in the world today.
So only 265million less 2 for NUFC to be linked with then.
    Help.

JimBOB – simply because P45DUE is a dinosaur, rooted in 1980’s football, coaching and training methods. His Assistants are no better and therin lies the problem.

The quickest, cheapest way for NUFC to improve the players and the way they play would be to bring in much younger, up to date coaching staff. Modern outlooks and coaching methods would make a huge difference to our performances.

We all knew Colback was signing last week on a free, why did it take a week to confirm the deal when everyone was reporting it was done and dusted? Check-up John Obi Mikel he went back on an agreement with Man Utd and signed for Chelsea….Chelsea paid them a fee.

What Colback did at St James after scoring I can kind of understand as its in the heat of the moment, would I do it…NO!! Players who play against former clubs don’t even celebrate against them clubs after scoring, look at Ronaldo when he scored against Lisbon, he apologised to the fans rather than run away celebrating!! Colback also chastised fans after the match with his 3-0 celebrations, TOON FAN yeah right….give over man!!

To the doubters of the article, if the scum had put this article out why hasn’t the player or the club come out to say its bollocks?

I am pleased the law of the land can’t simply convict people of crimes just because they stay quiet. There is no evidence either way on the Colback story, it is a shame that people sometimes chose to pick out all the ultra-negative things in life.

After the relationship this regime has with the media I’d think they’d either send a quick tweet saying that story was incorrect and we will be looking into what action we can take….I mean come on the press was blamed for the Stoke game. Perfect chance to throw it back in there face but not a peep from anyone at the club!!

The key phrase in the article was ” in the sun” we will be linked with a new player everyday as we have always been a lazy journo’s fail safe only now its the bottom end of market and alas not the blockbuster signings anymore. We need players and they need to fill blank pages. Roll on next season.

Potentially good swap deal on the cards for santon. A replacement LB and a versatile midfeilder. Would be worth imho.

Since when has the club stayed quiet about the media? The regime even blamed the media for a defeat at Stoke. Do you not think they’d have been all over this like a rash to justify recent actions against the media?

BTW I know of someone who has 2 kids but recently acknowledged he’d been living a lie and is now happy with his male partner, his family are happy as well and he has an excellent relationship with them, that’s a positive thing mate. Just because you have kids doesn’t mean you can’t be homosexual

Colback was on his honeymoon when the story broke that he would be signing for Newcastle on his return. WHU had offered him a deal worth £50,000 a week but the story was he knocked it back to sign for us.
This new story only surfaced after the deal was done and the makems posted their hate mail statement.
IMO it smacks a bit of mischievous stirring from the press, and no need for a denial. At the end of the day he is our player now regardless of what has or has not been said and as long as he does his best for us we cannot ask for more. Lets just hope his best is good enough under Pards.

Our toon. I had 2 kids with my ex-wife and a third to my current partner, so i felt it unnecesary to dignify the accusation with response. Maybe NUFC feel the same over this. The ink hasnt even dried on the contract. I think a dignified silence rather than catering to fans who seem to need to be reassured against anything they read/see in the Media.
