Should Newcastle Go After This Manchester United Playmaker?

Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini did not have a good time of it last season at Manchester United, and found it hard to settle after new manager David Moyes had brough him form Everton for a massive £27.5M.

Marouane Fellaini – available on the cheap

Marouane was signed on the last day of the transfer market for 27.5M on a five year deal, but now that Louis van Gaal has been installed as the new manager if seems that the famous Dutch coach has let it be known the Belgian International has no future at Old Trafford.

The 26 year-old was signed by Everton for £15M in the summer of 2008 on a five year deal from Standard Leige, and at the time Newcastle were linked with the player, but that £15M fee put us off.

But now the news is that the Red devils are willing top let the 50 times capped International leave for about half the price they paid for him.

So the question is whether Newcastle would be interested in signing a player, who looked very good when he was at Everton, and has played 177 times with 33 goals for the Toffees and last season played 21 times for the Red Devils.

When a good player has one bad season, it’; often a good opportunity to sing him for less than he’s really worth – and that could be the case with Fellaini, who is still a good player.

And at 6’4″ tall, the Belgian would provide both power, skill and goal-scoring ability to Newcastle’s central midfield.

But if we were to hazard a guess we’d say that Newcastle – make that Mike Ashley – wouldn’t be willing to pay something like £14M to get the Belgian, and of course his wages will be high too.

What do you think?

Since when was Fellaini a ‘playmaker’?

Not sure about him – he would have to be cheap.

That made me laugh out loud, Ed. Even at half price he’s too expensive!

Last season with Everton he scored 11 and had 7 assists playing as an attacking midfielder. He is a good player

He is a very good player who got tarnished with the same brush as Moyes at ManU.

He is probably desperate to prove to everyone, especially those in Manchester, that he is a very good player and in the right team will be good but at what price?

A loan deal looks the best bet. If he is good after one season then buy him. If not so good then return him.

why would we want to sell Santon? every team needs a good rotation of players for each position.

    Debuchy & Santon as RB

    Haidara & ? as LB

Dummet needs to be loaned out because he’s simply not good enough for the first team just yet, every time I see him hoofing it up the pitch I just wanna hoof my foot up his ass, the last thing we need is a Limited full back which is Dummet.

Marouane Fellaini would be a good player for us along side Tiote in a deep 4-2-3-1 formation

    Debuchy, MYM, Collo, Haidara
    Tiote, Fellaini
    HBA, Sissoko,Perez

but like ED said his wages would be far to high unless he takes a wage cut which I doubt he won’t do

Two little problems. First is the transfer fee… we don’t even want to spend 10 mill for players like Cabella and Grenier. The second problem is his salary… So no, he will not come.

Fellaini is a pipe dream…. but why not? I could see him wanting to get the bad taste of Man U out of his mouth. No way Ashley will cough up the cash, though.

so, so far we have signed 2 players Perez & Coldback both that we got in a total of under 2 million and that’s probably with agents fees as well.

does anyone know how much transfer budget we actually have? because we seem to buy only cheap or free players,

reports are saying we are after Gomis again but I only hope Sunderland snap him up because having 2 Cisse’s as strikers we have to rely on our defenders and midfielder’s for goals and probably even krull 🙂

Take him on a season long loan with a firm option to buy for say 12MM.

Does anyone know the wages that he is on? If it is over 60k/week, that’ll be a problem. Will probably need to be subsidized by Man U.
