As we mentioned earlier this morning, Newcastle’s good name is being besmirched by our current antics in the transfer market, where we go in with very low offers for out targets and all that does is upset the selling club, and it also garners Newcastle some bad publicity, and we’ve seen that over the last few days.
Mike Ashley – pay out the money – please
Montpellier Chairman Louis Nicollin has said that Newcastle are treating them like idiots, and that they shouldn’t treat them as fools, in our quest to get the talented Remy Cabella to Tyneside.
And things were not any better in January when we got £20M for Yohan Cabaye and then tried to get Remy Cabella and Clement Grenier on Tyneside, but our offers for those players were so low they upset both their clubs, and also the agents of the players.
The selling clubs are not stupid, and they know Newcastle ended up in the upper half of the Premier League last season, and received close to £80M for our efforts.
And that we have £20M from the Cabaye sale, so when we go in and bid £6.5M for Remy Cabella – do Newcastle really think that will be accepted , and do they really it will do them any good with Montpellier?
And Wilfried Bony’s agent Dalibor Lacina has said this week that Newcastle could have had his player for £10M last summer, but Newcastle refused to pay out the money and Wilfried is now worth £20M after a terrific season at Swansea.
Lacina then said that Wilfried will probably be joining a top club in Europe who have ambition – hint – that’s not Newcastle United.
We are all for getting good deals, and free agents are usually good acquisitions, and Jack Colback was a very good signing for us, but sometimes you have to pay out good money to get good players – and Newcastle should be willing to do that.
Newcastle fans are frustrated that we could have profits of something over £50M for the current financial year that ends on June 30th, and yet we are acting like a hard-up club in the lower divisions.
It’s time those in charge – make that Mike Ashley – change and stop damaging Newcastle’s good name in football and start to bid decent money for good players.
This penny-pinching is being overdone by Newcastle, and it has now gone too far.
Spend the money Mike – please.
Comments welcome.

Comment #41Its not about penny-pinching. He isn’t a bean-counter. With Monster Mash its all about besting people and being the smart fella and pulling off a stroke. The buzz is in picking up an ailing brand on its knees and proving he can strip it down and squeeze a few more bob out of it. That’s what he gets off on – Defying expectations.
Maybe when our expectations are already on the floor, he’ll defy them and bring in a world-beater. We’re waiting, Mike….

we need new pitch lighting for the tv cameras
and there is all the work on the training ground

Comment #43I would image it will be Gomis, right up Pardews street, big and strong, able to come from deep to get the ball. Don’t like him but I would imagine he will get 10+ a season.
Siem will be next in and then another striker and that’s us done unless someone goes, why if our policy is signing foreign players are we so late in planning a replacement for Collo, remember how long it took him to adapt, I’m only presuming that MYM isn’t that option.

He was very excited for the game of Australia. Was great to watch too, must say they deserved something and the 3 to 1 final score is pretty unfair for them…

True…but ppl dont talk about Ashley in the general football world…
He isnt getting any plaudits or popularity by his methods or penny pinching achievments…
So how does that give him satisfaction…
Even if he gets all 3 signings on the cheap…ppl will talk abt Diego Costa,Fabrigas, van gaal, sagna, lpool manu chelsea..Not Ashley and his bargains…Hell, even Everton and Southampton are more respected and talkd about in the football world now…
Its not that difficult to finish 16th and 10th…

Comment #62It would not surprise me in the slightest if we did make an approach for PEA we seem to keep an eye out for our previous targets
Personally think it will be Gomis who while not the best striker in the world could still score between 10 and 15 goals a season with us and will suit Pardew’s 451 formation as he can win the ball in the air and hold the ball up he is a massive upgrade on Shola so if he is replacing him then that is great

Comment #65even this is good squad
debuchy,mbiwa,colo,santon
……tiote………..colback
HBA…..Sissoko….PEA
…………..Gomis……………..
thats only two players we dont have now one for free and another one for very low price…these two would give everybody massive boost…this team have everything, colo as ball playing defender, mbiwa fast, debuchy and santon good going forward and solid defensively….tiote and colback great protection for defensive, warriors…hba magician on the right, sissoko physical player, in that position he should be lethal, PEA fast, strong, skillful….and Gomis upfront can hold up ball, score and bring other players to the game….great balance in that team…I think mbiwa and colo can create solid partnership….
