Newcastle In Striker Bid – Decision This Week

There was a report in the  German publication Bild a few days ago, that said that Newcastle had withdrawn from the race to sign Hertha Berlin’s German striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga

Pierre-Michel Lasogga – will decide his future next week

At that time the report was that it was going to be a straight choice for the 22 year-old between signing an extension for his current club Hertha Berlin or sign for Hamburg, where he an excellent loan spell last season, and scored 13 goals in 20 Bundesliga games..

However, now Hertha Berlin’s General Manager Michael Preetz, who was seen meeting at the Düsseldorf airport last week with Lasogga and his  mother Kerstin, who acts as his agent, has come out and said it’s still between three clubs – and it in fact does still include Newcastle.

This is what he has told Berliner Kurier:

“Next week there will be a decision. It is only about three clubs: Hertha, Hamburg or Newcastle.”

lasogga with manager

Pierre-Michel Lasogga – with Hertha Berlin’s Michael Preetz in Dusseldorf last week

So it seems now that Pierre has returned from his vacation,  he will be making a choice next week between the two German clubs and Newcastle United.

And we know that Hertha Berlin offered him new terms at that meeting last week, which took place at the Hotel Maritim at the Dusseldorf Airport.

Hopefully we should hear something next week.

horray for costa rica, they might have kept us in the championship.

what I’ve seen from England today tells me, I’m sick of him, rooney is just not worth a place in the England starting 11.

first half he left baines with lots of problems and the left side has been a very weak point for us right through the game.

the secod half barkley is running with the ball and rooney tackles him, that is a selfish player who just plays for himself. So leave him on the bench roy, start either Wilshere, ox or lallana next time, please.

Mmmm, ordinarily one would think that if Lasogga’s gonna choose between three clubs, we might just be in with a shout.

However, we are Newcastle United and about as attractive as a turf in a swimming pool.

We can write him off then.

    Hey ho

Henderson ,wow still don’t rate him

I seen you called the 3 best players tonight. Pirlo could play when he’s 60, he’s just so classy. Balotelli only needed one chance, Marchiso I think he’s so underrated. Well I must say I don’t think England will get any where close to the Semi’s! Come on France 😉

catchy in norway, howay man – were you watching the same Welbeck as the rest of the world?

The lad played a blinder in the first half.

Or could he be a relative of Pardew? That might explain your ire!

Honestly, it was quite positive. The heat took it out of everybody in the second half and Italy clearly just had more desire. All in all, I’m amazed we cut it as close as we did. Some static attacking, though.

Baines shows no ambition. Rewind two years.

We need a target man, an out and out goalscorer. We had nothing when sturridge went off. Should have taken defoe. Got to give lambert a go.

    catch
sure your not just following on from some of the earlier posts others have made saying welbeck shouldn’t have started?

you look at rooney and welbeck both in the wide position of either side and you will se two completely different players.

welbeck never left Johnson too isolated
rooney did very little at all and got baines very annoyed.

welbeck- always looked for the right pass.
rooney- only decent pass all game was the cross for that goal.

welbeck- was always getting himself into the space and did well when ever he had the chance.
rooney- stood about did little movement, missed sitters and even tackled his own team mate.

Sterling Barkley and Lallana were the only positives in that game

The back four were awful, hart was suspect Gerrard and Henderson were invisible letting Pirlo yet again have the freedom of midfield

And starting with 3 CF’s with only one playing as a CF?
Rooney shouldn’t be so deep and Welbeck just shouldn’t be on the pitch, seriously why play him as a winger? He’s to scared to take on the FB and doesn’t make runs Lallana should of started in front of him all day
As for Johnson, Christ if he’s the best RB in the country were in deep trouble awful awful player

wellbeck played very well like 10 times better than rooney

wat annoyed me about there second goal harte jumped inside the post!

if he had turned a degree he would have saved it and he had plenty of time!

if ya gonna play rooney he needs to play in the middle or not at all

barkley n sterling can both play wide so don’t understand that descision at all and llalana

uraguay looked shit tho so we have a chance

Barkley laid it off for Rooney he didn’t tackle him

Honestly mate i have no idea what Welbeck you were watching because he did none of the things you’ve mentioned apart from not leaving Johnson, mainly because he stood next him, when you lay the ball off your supposed to run not just stand there staring

that target man we are missing is the player who has lost out through injury. that player is carroll, I think the day he moved to Liverpool was his biggest mistake, weather it was a request or he got forced I will never know but his time with Newcastle was certainly the sign of an up coming England player with the goals and assists in him.

Great people going over the top about Rooney already.

With most players they would say he was out of position….

He was great in build up with one touch passing.

Baines was weak defensively but just as bad WITH the ball! Talk about indecisive!

u sure , for me he kept trying to cut in , never kept any width, sure he may have helped cover Johnson , but is his secondary job ,

an for the record I never read any earlier comments,

trouble with any England manager is he has to pick who the FA tell him to , Man U have more fans than Southampton , thus Man U players will always get picked ahead of Southampton players for the sake of shirt sales

    little bit cynical I know

well if rooney was not stealing the ball from barkley then I don’t know why barkley looked so annoyed and also they commentators are lieing because it was made out to sound more like barkley wanted to keep the ball.
why else would they have shown the replay?
