Latest Update On Newcastle’s Move for Striker

There are reports in both the Mail and the Mirror today on Newcastle’s pursuit of 22 year-old Hertha Berlin striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga, and there doesn’t seem to be much new in their reports, other than the fee that’s being mentioned is  less than £10M.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga – close to Newcastle move

It seems as though Newcastle are willing to pay around €9M (£7.2M) for the 22 year-old striker, and both papers still say that Newcastle hope to get the deal done this week for the striker who visited Newcastle last week to look around the facilities.

It’s interesting that the transfermkt.com site has updated his transfer fee to €9M, so maybe that’s even accurate.

The German publication Bild reported yesterday that he could be keen to join Hamburg if they could put a package together – and Pierre-Michel wants around £50K/week in wages, but it seems that Hamburg may be struggling to get the financial package together, and maybe that’s why there’s a wait.

Newcastle can offer him those wages, and since he was in Newcastle last week and said he would like to play in England, it still looks good for Newcastle to get one of our top striker targets to Newcastle. A five year deal would cost almost £20M over those fives years with the transfer fee and wages.

He has offers from his current club Hertha Berlin, Hamburg and Newcastle – and he should deciding in the next few days – so there could be news at any time.

The striker stands almost 6’3″ tall, and has played 11 times with four goals for the Germany U21 side, but he did not make the 23 man squad for the World Cup, with experienced strikers Miroslav Klose (Lazio), Thomas Mueller (Bayern Munich) and Lukas Podolski (Arsenal) in the squad.

Lasogga scored 15 goals in 24 appearances in total while on a successful loan spell at Hamburg last season, and while at Hertha Berlin, the Gladbeck-born striker has scored 24 goals and has 11 assists in 69 total games.

He would be an excellent signing for Newcastle.

This lad would certainly be a good start but we need to get a serious move on in the creativity and attack department. I never believe a word until I see them with the NUFC shirt and the longer we wait the more likely it is another club will beat us to him with a bigger offer.

Anymore word on PEA? No I didn’t think so……

Here we go, can we expect the usual take it (£7.2m) or leave it performance when Hertha are wanting 10? For the sake of compromising on the fee, are we gonna lose another player?

Can we expect to gear the usual claptrap about best efforts didn’t get the player over that uncrossable line?

    Deja vue yet again?

But if he or his mother want time to consider a move to Newcastle United, then he can’t be that keen to join us.

Maybe we should move for that Nigerian striker sub who made such a difference to their performance the other day?

Ah but then we’d probably pitch in too low!

I would love to get PEA his pace is enough to cause any defence problems which we clearly lack, we should be going all out for him!!! This lad don’t look half bad but YouTube can make Danny graham look half decent, so without seeing him in the flesh(has any of you’s)if so???? Who knows!!! Up the toon!!!!
