New Bid In For One Of Newcastle’s Top Youngsters

There was news yesterday that Middlesbrough were interested in signing Sammy Ameobi, and now news today that Championship club Sheffield Wednesday are also interested in signing the youngster.

Sammy Ameobi – Sheffield Wednesday now interested

The Sheffield Wednesday manager has confirmed their interest in signing 22 year-old Newcastle winger Sammy Ameobi, so maybe the Magpies are willing to unload Sammy, who seems to have been the one younger player who was going to stay at the club.

Others like James Tavernier, Haris Vuckic, Shane Ferguson and Mehdi Abeid are all likely to be  be moved on in the summer.

This is what Wednesday’s manager Stuart Gray has said:

“We have spoken to Sammy’s agent. He is a quality player and he has shown that by playing in the Premier League. We will see what happens.”

New Sheffield Wednesday owner Hafiz Mammadov has said he will keep Stuart Gray as manager, and the £40M takeover offer is due to be ratified by the Football League within a week.

The outgoing owner Milan Mandaric, who previously was owned both Portsmouth and Leicester City, will remain at the club in his capacity as Chairman, and it seems that Mammadov will make money available for new players this summer.

So our current crop of 21 and 22 year-olds have not been successful – and a number will leave the club this summer – and Conor Newton has already joined Rotherham United, although Peter Dummett did sign a six-year deal to stay at Newcastle last year.

So what we consider a ‘top youngster’ is chased by championship clubs… Shows the quality of our youth system.

What position does mbia play? He seemed to be popping up everywhere last night. Not that it worked very well. Although that is probably due to song fk witted red card.

How and why will we let our two most promising youngsters in Sammy Ameobi and Mehdi Abeid leave the club? This club is a joke at every level. I am so sick of our moronic decisions that always take us backwards!

How could we let his older brother the useless Strolla Ameobi walk around the pitch for a decade without a fuss and then look to instantly offload Sammy who is 20x the player than he is!?

Will this club ever make good judgments on players be it ours or on the transfer market? More than 15 years and I am still waiting for this club to wake up! Sick of it all.

Mainly because we can get a fee for Sammy and Mehdi, that is the true nature of our academy, bring players through to sell on for any fee…’s free money for Cashley and hel just bring more through to replace them.
