Newcastle After Mystery Striker In Spain

There is a good article in the Journal this morning that Newcastle are after three strikers this summer, and two of them have been in the news a lot this summer – Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and Hertha Berlin striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga, who is currently trying to arrange a move to Hamburg, but not finding much success with the two clubs not being able to agree on a fee or on a part exchange deal.

Alexandre Lacazette

Newcastle after Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette

We’ve heard this all before, but with the pre-season opening up in about a week’s time, the news is that Newcastle will be increasing their efforts to get new players into the club over this next week, and with the World Cup now in the knockout stages, that could even free up some targets who have been at the World Cup.

Newcastle are also after at least two other players in France – midfielders Clement Grenier of Lyon and Remy Cabella of Montpellier -who has yet to feature for France in the World Cup, and may not be given the opportunity with the completion now in the knockout stages.

That has to be good for Newcastle’s chances, since a player has one decent game in the World Cup and his transfer price seems to go up.

The article mentions a striker who currently plays in the Spanish league that Newcastle are keen on, so we don’t know who that may be – any ideas on who Newcastle may be after in Spain?

We would have to think it’s got to be Lionel Messi of Barcelona – but maybe not.

I bet that woke you up this morning!

Let us know who you think the striker could (really) be.

Comments welcome.

‘..Do you honestly think Cabella and Grenier will arrive at our excuse for a football club..?’

‘..We sell anymore players, we wont have a squad to select a team from next season… ‘

Surely that is what the fans want given that they have repeatedly demanded that the club get rid of Ameobi (both of them), Gosling, Newton, De Jong, Tavernier, Vuckic, Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Obertan and Mbiwaa.

Remy wasn’t ours to start with. Debuchy is a world class right back and it is arguable that he is only at the club because of his mate Cabaye. He really should be with a Champions League club. Same goes for Krul and Sissoko.

Mid table teams like ourselves and Southampton are always going to have their better players cherry picked by the big boys.

In order to sign Cabella and Grwnier, he is going to have to pay in excess of 10 mill pounds for each of them.

Correct me if I am wrong but he has never paid 10 mill for any one player in the 7 years he has owned the club

Thing is Newcastle have no bottle for a fight, We will not compete in certain competitions, and we will not compete in the transfer market either.

As soon as another club is even mentioned as a link with one of our transfer targets Newcastle pull out of the deal.

The club is sick and dying under Ashley and Pardrew, Ashley says he know nothing about running a football club, and Pardrew has proved he know nothing about management of a football club, so why are they still here?

I don’t see the club spending much money, so none of the decent players we are linked with (in the press) will be coming here.

We reap what we sow, for us that means cheap & freebies only.

Graham Carr in an interview last year said Cisse cost 8mill pounds. As for Colo, I was under the impression he cost 9 million pounds

    Think cisse was £9m?
Pretty sure Colo is his most expensive signing at 11m but that was back when he put money into us in his first year!
Can’t see him breaking the 8m mark for any player, the strategy seems to be bid 5m for 8m players and bid 8m for 12m rated players!
Odd thing is Ashley is a gambler, though the risk is higher the rewards are far greater if he spends 15/20m on top rated players and sells them for 30/40m!
If we signed say Quintero from porto for example for 15/20m, big chance he can be a £40m player in 2/3 years! Same could be applied to Deulefeu, barca would let him go for 15m im sure and he could go to reach superstar status!
Missed a trick also not scouting that belgian lad from lille… Surely Carr would have noticed his talent if Marc Wilmots had? Looks just the player we need though apparantly hes off to the scousers

I still think the way this mug is running our club has all the hallmarks of an imminent sale.

Not even Assley could be so stupid to run us down so far.

The “mystery striker from spain” could mean 2 things
They are spanish or they play in the spanish league. I wonder if its Kevin Gameiro. Would love to see him upfront with Lacazette

How many times have we lost out on players because Newcastle would not go that extra £1m or £2m on the asking price.

Newcastle have pulled of some good deals in the past, but only when the club was willing to sell cheap, or by meeting a buy out clause.

When clubs want a decent return on a player Newcastle will not buy, and that is why we will never progress under Ashley.

And when we do manage to agree a fee the deal fall through because of wage demands or agents fees.

At the end of the day it is greed that is our downfall.

What would be the point? Unless we are all united and singing from the same hymn book we will get nowhere.

Ashley (Jabba the Hut) is holding all the cards, and just ignores the fact that we exist. As long as the money rolls into his bank account he is happy.

As Expat said a few days ago we should petition the FA to investigate Jabba the Hut’s suitability to run a football club.

I wonder what else an investigation into his dealings with our club might turn up.

Hard to focus on the season to come when the World cup is raging on…

I seen yesterday Gomis signed for Swansea.

Well, don’t be sad lads, as i said several time, don’t think it would have been a good recruit.

Gameiro will never sign for us as long as Pard will be the manager.

DeJong’s Faillure was a tough lesson. This kind of player can’t be succesfull with our style of play.

it seems all we can do next season is to boycott or cause havoc inside the ground .Yes it may disrupt the team – cough -cough ., what team some will say , exactly . If we dont , we wont have a club nevermind a team .Ashley is banking on our loyalty to keep quiet about all this and dont protest – it will destract the players , and we will be the baddies . my answer to ashley is F;;k him , lets get him out the nasty way – thats all we have left.

Every home game the fans should start with the chanting to get Jabba the Hut and Pardump out of the club. This should be continuous for the first 45 minutes. At half time every fan should walk out of the stadium leaving it as empty as Pardump’s head.

It’s so funny how wound up people get on here about transfers 🙂
    1. Nobody knows who if anyone nufc are trying to sign. How many of these transfer stories ever turn out to be real?
    2. Can’t understand this far into the Ashley reign why we’re still surprised when we don’t pay top dollar for a player.
    3. Why do people still think selling our best players for massive profits is a surprise or even something which we can prevent? Southampton just lost 2 of there best players that’s how it works when the big guns come in for them.
    4. Most importantly what % of nufc transfers in the last 20 years have been successful? Look at other clubs money spent on dross look at what we’ve spent under ashley….at least now were not talking about wasting money on player after player…… Let’s just see what happens and if we’re squad light at the start of the season then get your daggers out.
