There was news recently that a £12M deal had already been agreed between Arsenal and Newcastle United for Mathieu Debuchy to move to Arsenal, but that the deal would only be announced after France are finished with their World Cup endeavors – which could even be tomorrow night, when they play Germany in the quarter finals.
Mathieu Debuchy – in French colors
The latest news today is that Mathieu Debuchy has removed all references that he is a Newcastle United player from his Twitter page – and we suppose when he signs for Arsenal – which now seems to be almost certain – he will put in he’s an Arsenal player.
The French right-bank has said he was missing the Champions League since he’s been at Newcastle, and that was a thinly veiled open invitation for bigger clubs to come in for him during the World Cup, and Arsene Wenger saw him as an excellent replacement for fellow French International right back Bacary Sagna, who signed for Man City as a free agent recently.
There has also been news in the local Newcastle press that the club have resigned themselves to losing Mathieu, who has played very well for France in the World Cup, and if he does move he will have stayed one year less than his best pal Yohan Cabaye.
Yohan stayed 30 months at Newcastle before he moved ion to PSG, and Debuchy has only been at the club for 18 months, since we signed him for £6M from Lille.
The next top player to leave Newcastle could well be midfield powerhouse Moussa Sissoko, who is in the sights of Italian club Napoli.
But we suppose if these players don’t want to stay at Newcastle and play for us, they should move on.
Since he’s been at Newcastle Debuchy has become a much better player, and he has become France’s number one right-back edging out Bacary Sagna for the starting position for his country.
What do you think?

Comment #121Maybe bit early since I realised not so many teams have officially signed anybody but:
Based on the list:
1.Chelsea
2.Man U
3.Liverpool
Bottom half probably
1.Hull City
2.West Ham
3.Sunderland
Things will change quickly. I included us in the running for top 10 rather than bottom 10. Otherwise we would probably top bottom half as things stands.

Comment #122But we’re not going to get 6 Ketsy mate. At least not 6 good enough to reach top 8 even. We will continue to be bollocks under NoNuts. He will sell anyone decent and bring in cheaper substitutes as with SdJ for Cabaye. NoNuts doesn’t care about the football. He only cares about money. Isn’t that clear yet?

Imagine if we managed to keep hold of our players we could have had:
—————————-Krul——————————-
–Debuchy——–Collo——–M’biwa——–Enrique–
————–Cabaye——————–Tiote—————
—Sissoko—————De Jong—————–Remy—
——————————-Ba——————————
Bench:
Forster, Willo, Santon, Anita, HBA, Gouffran, Cisse
Wonder how that team would have done ? .

on the strikers front were not going to get a remy in some1 that can create a goal out of nothing
given the way we played all last season will pardew be able to get the team to work the box to create for any new strikers and cisse
he stumbled across a way of doing it when cisse arrived whilst just trying to accommodate cisse but even after ba left and remy came in saying he now has the personnel he never went back and tried it
its a big opportunity for pards and a big task I am not convinced but then most aint

Comment #126Big trouble coming without a very good striking coming in then beermonkey. The first to go will be Pards if we don’t do well in the first 10 games. The schedule is very decent after the Man City opener so Pards will be under immediate pressure. If we play anywhere similar to the last half of last season Pards will have to go so some other sucker can come in and take the heat sad to say. 🙁

Comment #129Should read very good striker. Fell sorry for Tiote and his huge giveaway during the WC game. Will he recover his confidence? Our defense will continue to be very porous if Santon plays at RB. He isn’t a defender.

Comment #131If Ashley thinks we can get by without a top striker with the team we have now he is even madder than I thought. This can’t work without several big signings and at least 30M spent which we can well afford now. If not Pards will not be able to save us. He is an average manager at best. This is a horribly weak side as it stands even with Colback and SdJ. We are in for a nightmare without big additions. The games against the German sides in the pre-season will show that to be the case. Get ready for a lot of moaning on here.

Comment #137The new signings are just so-so. We absolutely must get a top striker. No beermonkey, I’m afraid I don’t see Cisse ever recovering form at this point and certainly Pardew isn’t going to make it happen. We are in the soup now unless the big man at the top suddenly grows a football brain out of the side of his heed.

Comment #139What is the point of undermining Siem De Jong? I disagree that Siem is only a so-so signing. He has loads of EC experience on his shoulder already and he’s doing great for Ajax. Colback.. I don’t know much about him but he’s not that bad.

Comment #140these reports make me laugh so much
since when we sell one of our top layers to
some italian clubs ? ( Napoli )
if Debuchy is 29 and it’s good to sell him now
well Sissoko is still 24 and he still have many
years to come with Newcastle , I can”t see him leaving .

Comment #141He is decent Pizzacato mate but we’ll see how he manages the Prem. But it’s not nearly enough as you all know. Without a strike force and with a horrible defensive record we have huge problems that we’re not addressing. Colo will injure his back again in the winter as usual and we have no depth at CB. Willo only functions well with good cover and is over 30 now as well. What on earth are we doing with this squad? Not nearly enough and Ash doesn’t splash the cash.

Comment #143No offence pizza mate but I find American beer to be swill with almost no alcohol content. They must drink it so they can spend lots of time in the bog. Strange country getting stranger all the time. At war with their own poor people. They pay waitresses $2.13 an hour in some states. So much to be proud of USA. Shove that bollocks where the sun don’t shine. The revolution is coming! Huzzah!

Comment #144Well, now MA has conquered the French sports retail market through signing Frenchies, seems like the next target area subject to his empires lebensraum is going to be Holland.
Same strategy, buy rising Dutch stars that are for whatever reason discounted or comparatively cheap, then keep them here for a few seasons to help raise the profile of Sports Direct in Holland, watch his share price rise and then shift on the cheap acquisitions for a tidy profit, assuming they have performed fairly well – wins both ways. The ones that have supposedly not flourished to be discarded for a minimal loss ie Marveaux, Obertan etc.
Maintaining midtable mediocrity is the only footballing objective, anything else is a bonus.
That’s the model folks! Next up, Belgium!

Comment #149If we get LDJ back he can be the nanny for SdJ when he has kids. Brilliant! For now he can keep SdJ happy and continue to try and kick a ball through a wet paper bag. We need a striker who can actually shoot. If LdJ had Benny’s shot I would love to see him join us again. But unfortunately he doesn’t. My daughter shoots harder than he does. Shearer must weep when he sees that man kick a ball.

Comment #151Sorry to disappoint jazzy mate. I just think we have to be cautious about Dutch signings. Look at LDJ. I think SdJ will be better than that but he isn’t at Cabaye’s level in general ability. I have concerns about Anita being too small as well. We need a stronger defence, midfield and attack. Other than that we are in great shape! Huzzah!

Comment #153Is anyone continuing to keep track of how much wor Mike has made on player sales in the last 7 years? It must be enormous by now. Let’s see: Carroll 35M, Cabaye 19M, Bassong 6M?, Jose 6M?, Milner was it 8M or more? That’s just a few of the big sales and it adds up to 68M and I think I have underestimated that total. What have we spent on signings over the same period? I would think possibly 40M? That’s what I call tidy profit. I’ll try to get more exact numbers but you get the idea.

Comment #160Completely not bothered about him going.
He’s a great player, probably our best now Cabaye and Remy are gone BUT he blatantly doesn’t want to be here and we don’t utilise his abilities.
As someone else said I’d be open to reverting to more solid full backs and putting less defensive responsibility on the attackers.
